In short, we met at work at a software start-up. He was a programmer, and I was a tester.
Longer story: I like to tell people we met when he stole my cubicle. I had prime real estate in the center of the office, and one day, someone told me that I was going to be moving to a place that we all jokingly called a "closet" with the other testers, and the new guy would be taking my cube. After I moved, I popped over to my old cubicle, and I jokingly accused him of stealing my cubicle.
Now, let me set the stage.
It was his first job after college, so he was this super meek, quiet programmer. I am a little bit more boisterous. After I accused him, he was so quiet when he said, "I'm sorry. They just told me to sit here." I apologized, told him I was joking. We became friends, and 3 years later started dating. 5 years after that, we got married. We'll be married almost 8 years when our bundle arrives. 🥰

I was in a happy, long-term, committed, own-a-house together level relationship when I started a new job that I loved. I'd been there a couple of weeks and a few colleagues were going to a coworkers apartment for drinks after work. A random stranger (to me) walked into that apartment and was greeted by everyone there. We hadn't worked together because he had recently moved on from the job, but lived nearby and the host was his very close friend. Cue record scratch, jaw drop, slow motion, spotlight from the heavens, movie producer 'you just met your soul mate' moment. We didn't speak more than a few words to each other before I excused myself to splash water on my face and muttered to myself in the mirror "I think that boy is going to ruin your whole life if you don't leave right now." So I quickly left.
I broke things off with long term boyfriend a couple days later because I was still reverberating from that brief encounter and having a monster crush on a stranger felt awful.
That random stranger texted our boss five minutes after I left the party asking if he could "come back to work some casual shifts...and maybe help train the new girl." He also texted a friend that night 'hey, just an FYI, I'm pretty sure I'm going to need a plus one for your wedding.'
And that's how the boy who I thought was going to ruin my whole life became my husband.
We met at a bar - I was actually newly single (still living with the ex, hadn't even found my own place yet) and my two friends were SO excited fo go out for a girls night now that we were all single at the same time. I wanted to stay in and watch movies and eat pizza!
Anyway, they convinced me, and I met this guy on the dance floor. He was just in town for his friend's birthday, happened to be heading back to a similar area of town as us so my friends and I split a cab with him and his friend back uptown at the end of the night. He asked for my number - I actually said no! lol I said that I was newly single not looking to date or anything. Somehow he convinced me to give him my email address - anyway he went back to school about 5 hrs away and we emailed back and forth for a few months while I was getting settled into my new single life. He came back to town around Xmas and we ended up going on a date... and here we are! Definitely a version of "it will come when you aren't looking for it" type of thing. Sometimes I think about how many random coincidences had to lead us to both being at that bar that night - pretty wild if you think about it!
my husband and I went to middle school together but I wanted NOTHING to do with him because I thought he was a super big nerd (which he was and still is) 🤣 we ended up with mutual friends that we both had for a long time. I moved away in high school but kept In touch with a mutual friend long after. We ended up as FB friends and reconnected the summer after I finished grad school and was unemployed and bored. We were just friends at first. We both around that time got jobs on the most opposite ends of the US possible but the connection grew (even though we were both trying to date people in our local areas) and we ended up in a long distance relation for almost 2 years before moving in together! We’ve been together now 8 years and just had our 4th wedding anniversary.
Husband and I met in high school. He was two years behind me, but we spent a ton of time together because we were in Drama together. I had an on and off boyfriend, and hubs and I just kept missing each other even though we both liked each other. I remember one time specifically, I was trying to get him to take me to some dance thing without outright saying it. But the man is not good at subtly. And his friend asked me before he could, so he felt like he couldn't violate the "bro code" even though I had NO interest in his friend.
Anyways, when I was in college it finally ended for good with my high school boyfriend, hubs finally swooped in and asked me out, and we've been inseparable ever since. Cute side note, we met up with a friend from high school a few years later. When she first saw us, she just stared back and forth for a second and then said, "Yeah, this makes sense". We thought it was hysterical. Apparently, everyone else could see it too.

My BFF at the time just started dating this guy. We all went out to the bar together and met up with his brother. I instantly started flirting with him but got nowhere! He was wearing a muscle shirt and had tattoos and was just soooo attractive to me! I found out that he was in a relationship so I put him out of my mind. A few weeks later my BFF’s boyfriend told him his brother is single *wink wink. I had no intensions of being someone’s rebound. So a few more months go by and we see him out at the bar again. He invites me to go hang out with him and his friends and we end up having a WILD night. I had no intentions of this being more than a one night stand but I had mistakenly left my earrings at his place (and he had my phone number from trying to help me find my phone the night before lol). The rest is history!
