Upcoming Appointments or Results: Had anatomy scan today.
How are you feeling?: pretty good. the past week i have been constantly hungry.
Rants/Raves: these baby kicks are becoming so strong and i feel like they are actually making me sore.
Questions: Today during anatomy scan they said babies kidney is slightly enlarged. They don't seem very worried they said they will check it again at 28 weeeks. Anyone else have this happen? they said it could be just baby needs to pee.
Upcoming Appointments or Results: Appt with anatomy scan on Wednesday
How are you feeling?: Really grateful to have had a couple good days. Friday and Saturday were rough. It was the most exhausted I’ve been in awhile despite otherwise being physically fine. And mentally I was just really down thinking about how much there is to do before June to prepare the house. But we made incremental progress and I felt better yesterday and today.
Rants/Raves: Rant - It’s unclear if DH will be at the anatomy scan and I am deeply disappointed in him. It’s been on his calendar since the appt was booked a month ago and I’ve reminded him throughout the month that this is one he needs to be present for. With the reminder last week he realized he scheduled work travel on that day and asked me to move it to Tuesday. I’m fairly certain the ob office would’ve hung up on me if I tried to do that so I told him he either makes it or he doesn’t but my work schedule is already set around this. I know how badly he wants to be involved, but it’s not always being met with action. This one definitely hurts. Rave - I think I’ve finally started feeling movement every long once in awhile. It’s kind of psyching me out. I’m convinced I’m squishing it and it’s fighting back. I asked my sister about this and she advised talking to my therapist about why I already assume my child doesn’t like me 😬
Upcoming Appointments or Results: anatomy scan in a week.
How are you feeling?: with my elevated heart rate I really can’t do much as if I do more than just sit down I can hear my pulse in my ears and I feel like I’m at the gym.
Rants/Raves: We are super close to finishing the boring parts of remodeling baby’s nursery
Questions: nope
@ournextadventure no experience with this but I’m hoping everything looks good at your next scan and that little dude just had to pee.
@ournextadventure Hope it really is nothing! I'd think if it was a cause for concern they'd say it?
@pinkkillersheep I'd be annoyed also. Hope your husband is able to join you. If not, will you be allowed to have him on video during the appointment?
@marionberry19 hope you're feeling better and able to rest as much as necessary!
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 18w5d
FTM/STM/TTM+: TTM
Upcoming Appointments or Results: Hopefully anatomy scan next week.
How are you feeling?: Tired. Weekends get me so exhausted.
Rants/Raves: Rant - I feel so scatter-brain lately. I have so many things on my mind and main thought is that I can't keep track of things or I forget things easily. I have a bunch of returns in my car that I just can't find the time for. Work is crazy and stressful. Things at home are chaotic at times. I just feel so out of it and I am typically very Type A and organized. This is not me and it's freaking me out. Rave - Hubby put together the kids new bunk bed and DS loves it. DD couldn't wait to sleep in her new bed, so last night was their first night in the same room/bed. Then she woke up this morning and said she wants to go to her old bed now...so finger crossed we don't have to deal with a toddler meltdown.
Questions: nope

Upcoming Appointments or Results: Just had the anatomy scan. Everything with baby girl looking good which is so great, learned I have anterior placenta previa. Glucose test in a month!
How are you feeling?: So much better yay!
Rants/Raves: Rant - I don't sleep well unless I take half a Unisom but I hate taking something every night. Last night I didn't take anything and I was tossing and turning and had the worst nightmares. Rave - I got some clothes from Seraphine thanks to @KFrob and I love them and I used a belly band to be able to wear my old jeans and I was happy to actually be trying to look nice, it felt good!
Questions: Why does everyone say the glucose test is so gross?
@ournextadventure I think it's amazing that they can see all these things! And I agree with the others that they would've done something more urgently if they were worried, so try not to worry yourself (if possible!)
@pinkkillersheep I hope he moves things around to be able to be with you, but I also try to remind myself what a totally different experience this is for the non-pregnant partner. My partner is so supportive and excited, but the night before our anatomy scan I said, "I'm nervous for tomorrow" and he was like "for what?" He had spaced it, whereas I was counting the minutes.
@marionberry19 I hope you continue to take it easy and don't over-exert yourself. Take care!
@Tulips29 I am so scattered and am constantly forgetting things!
@shoarmie99 People tend to be grossed out by the drink itself, which I honestly never understood either. I've had 4 of them thus far (I failed the 1 hour each time and then had to do the 3 hour one). The drinks are fine in my opinion. It was like a sweet flat soda I guess. If you're able to drink Gatorade, this one should be fine too. I've also never had the option of flavors like some people so I just drank whatever was offered to me.

@shoarmie99 my last pregnancy the problem I had was that anything sweet was hard to get down. I was so sick and had this weird symptom that everything tasted like sugar like even plain water had a sweet taste. I literally felt I was going to throw up while drinking it. I think this time it will be fine. I don't think it is as bad as people make it out to be.
Upcoming Appointments or Results: Had anatomy scan yesterday and everything looks great! It took for ever since she wouldn't stop moving. I shouldn't have had cherry jello before my appointment, oops.
How are you feeling?: Pretty good! Trying to get comfy in bed is getting harder, and so is putting on socks.
Rants/Raves: Rant: I'm getting fed up with my job. There's too much expected Right. Now. and taking PTO is nearly impossible since you will never get caught back up. Not every request/email/process is urgent and needs to be done in 1 day. Rave: I took a pottery class this weekend and made a pretty sweet flower pot on the potters wheel. I'm excited to go back and glaze it in a couple of weeks. Also looking forward to getting a big snow storm this weekend. I want to be snowed in and baking.
@pinkkillersheep Sorry your DH might not be at the scan. My DH cannot remember any of my appointments no matter how many times I tell him. I used to get the physical appointment cards just to give to him. It sucks one they say one thing and then do another.
@marionberry19 Sorry you're still dealing with this heart thing. Did the doctor say how long it would be before the anemia would be under control? Love the nursery ideas!
@Tulips29 My pregnancy brain is so bad. I will forget what I'm doing mid-action and I'm also a disorganized messed. I'm driving myself crazy. I'm glad the bunk beds are working out!
The glucose test!! *shutters* I am part of the hate it club. My doctor told me after I failed the 1hour one with my first kid the key to passing it is high protein/low carb breakfast an hour before the test. The 3 hour test made me feel like I was going to die.
Upcoming Appointments or Results: Monthly was today, Anatomy scan 2/7
How are you feeling?: Good overall. My current level of stress and anxiety is not something I'd recommend though (mostly work/covid related)
Rants/Raves: Rant - My husband still has not been able to hear this little one's heart beat and I feel so badly that the restrictions happened at exactly the time that prevented that. He so badly wants to be as hands on as possible. I tried recording at today's appointment and it's not really the same, especially since she didn't stop moving and doing 180° turns!
Rave - No sugar added fruit Popsicles are life.
Questions: In addition to eating plenty of fiber, taking fiber gummies, and drinking lots of water, is there anything anyone has particularly found helpful for managing constipation? I was doing so well until last week.
@ournextadventure, I'm really sorry you're going through that. The waiting would be really tough for me personally. Hopefully they were just a bit backed up and there's nothing more to it.
@pinkkillersheep Re:Your rave, I think maybe your sister should consider a new career (coming from a psychologist).
@Tulips29 same same with the brain fog! It's so frustrating.
Upcoming Appointments or Results: I had my anatomy scan Monday. Everything looks good and it's a girl!
How are you feeling?: Physically pretty good for now. Bummed I officially am not comfortable sleeping on my stomach as of this week but glad to have made it this far!
Rants/Raves: Rant- my MIL is over the moon for a girl and keeps referring to her as a princess. Can we not.
Questions: None
@pinkkillersheep I would be super if my husband wasn't at the AS scan too. Especially if it was just because he wasn't motivated enough to just put it in his freaking calendar. I'm sorry.
@shoarmie99 I'm the same way if I don't take Unisom. I hate having to take it each night but it's awful if I don't.
@KFrob my anatomy scan was the opposite! Little nugget was tucked up tight into a ball most of the time and the tech had to keep messing with my stomach trying to get her to move.
Time to finally catch up on tags for the week. As an update to my post, DH rearranged his work schedule to be there today and we had a good conversation about the situation during marriage counseling yesterday. Unsolicited opinion - marriage counseling during this whole process is a god send.
@ournextadventure No experience with this, but for sanity’s sake I would go with the “If it were a concern they’d schedule an immediate follow up” rationale. Hopefully the 28 week scan gives some clarity.
@marionberry19 I love the woodlands wallpaper in your Pinterest board. The whole vibe is wonderful! Hope you’re getting enough rest and that the anemia is going in the right direction. @Tulips29 The pregnancy brain is real. The number of times I’ve stopped mid sentence and just been like “nope, I don’t got it. Never mind.”… Hope things are working out ok with the toddler and the bunk bed. @furmama2babymama I’m feeling cautiously optimistic about April. Bummer about the anatomy scan not going super productively.
@shoarmie99 Sorry to hear sleep is getting so tough for you. I wouldn’t want to have to rely on Unison either. I’ve mostly been just taking forever to fall asleep and having some really wild dreams about the baby lately. @KFrob Sorry work sucks for you right now. That pottery class sounds really fun. We have a place that offers adult classes and I’ve been tempted to try it. What’s on the list to bake this weekend? @hillies22 Me and my sisters are all very strong advocates for being well therapied so I’ll definitely be talking about it during my sessions. I think my general thoughts on this are that I’m surrounded by pregnancy messaging that assigns developed positive emotions to the baby (presumably so that the mother can relate to it better) and so I naturally extend that to negative emotions as well. Depression is a huge concern for me through this so I’m trying to be mindful of and open about my thoughts/feelings. Also, for fiber I’ve added in chia seeds to smoothies. I’m kind of hoping the Greek yogurt helps with gut health as well. No idea if any of this will help with constipation but it’s been manageable at least so far. @bww_0331 Agreed on the “princess” talk. The main reason I went along with DH’s desire not to find out the sex was to avoid all the gendered language and gifts.
@pinkkillersheep Definitely bread pudding. I've been craving it and a snowy weekend seems like the right time to give into a heavy comfort food dessert craving. I'll probably make some muffins and bread too. The class was a lot of fun. It was one of the first steps in me trying to do some things for myself and find "me" again. I'm even more excited to go glaze it and be able to sit there with earbuds in in my own little world.
@bww_0331 and @pinkkillersheep When DD1 was born I was so anti-princess. I was like no calling her princess, no over the top pink crap, no Disney BS, she's going to be a BA little girl. Well, I gave up on that really fast when that's what she started to like and was dying to be called princess. But she's still BA. She'll play with her rock collection in the dirt or watch Voltron in her Disney princess dresses.
@KFrob An after the fact, child driven "princess" doesn't bother me as much. Princess because it's a girl bothers me. Your daughter sounds pretty BA. I hope my daughter also grows up to just be whoever she wants to be.
@KFrob My DD likes some Princess stuff but she mainly likes Blaze and the Monster Machine. Haven't heard of Voltron. Will have to check it out.

Upcoming Appointments or Results: Anatomy Scan today
How are you feeling?: Acid reflux
Rants/Raves: Was sad I had to be alone during the Anatomy Scan, but was glad everything looked good because I have been stressed out about it. They checked my ovaries as well. I don't remember them doing that last time.
@romeoandjuliet146 we are doing a last family of 3 vacation in march. I'm so excited about having a week to spend with my daughter doing things that she wants before she has to start sharing mommy and daddy with baby brother. We are just driving up to Chattanooga and doing a bunch of outdoorsy things to try to stay safe with covid. I'm not comfortable flying right now so we wanted to keep it close.
@romeoandjuliet146 We have a California trip in a couple weeks that was supposed to be in December to celebrate finishing my MBA but I didn’t want to try to travel during the first trimester. We’re hoping to squeeze one more trip in sometime around late March, early April. I’m feeling cautiously optimistic about the COVID trends coming back down and I’ll just wear my KN95 everywhere.
@romeoandjuliet146 not really planning a baby moon but a vacation after she’s here to show my son that our life isn’t going to be stopping because baby sister showed up.
@marionberry19 We’ll start out in LA and then drive up the coast and end in SF. I’m a little concerned about the Colorado fire but we’re kind of all in at this point 😕
@pinkkillersheep nice. I live in a little coastal town right on the PCH so I’m always looking at where people are coming here to vacation to see if it’s something I’d be interested in doing haha.
@KFrob I was also anti princess and pink stuff. I hate when baby girls get all pink crap and baby boys only get blue. I said no pink ever when DD was born but that went out the window quickly and I'm ok with it. But she's also BA like yours. She is no dainty princess, stands up for herself at 2yo, loves to play with her brothers trucks while also playing with her dolls. Plus she will be the only girl among her brothers + 3 boy cousins so I don't mind if someone calls her princess.
As for babymoon, I really want one. But not sure how logistically because we'd need to figure out who/where/how would stay with our 2 kids. My idea of a babymoon is relaxing on a beach with a book and cold drinks next to me, which would require flying. Not sure it can be done.

@Tulips29 I didn't want any pink either but it gets impossible because too many toys and clothes have pink. I ended up liking a lot of the clothes in the boy section because they have stuff with adventure, exploring and woodland animals, etc.

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: June 9/ 20 weeks 6 days
FTM/STM/TTM+: STM
Upcoming Appointments or Results: Anatomy Scan today
How are you feeling?: Acid reflux
Rants/Raves: Was sad I had to be alone during the Anatomy Scan, but was glad everything looked good because I have been stressed out about it. They checked my ovaries as well. I don't remember them doing that last time.
Questions:
Anyone going on a babymoon? I want to travel, but worry about covid and also don't care to fly.
As for babymoon, I really want one. But not sure how logistically because we'd need to figure out who/where/how would stay with our 2 kids. My idea of a babymoon is relaxing on a beach with a book and cold drinks next to me, which would require flying. Not sure it can be done.
