Re: Weekly Check-In w/o 1/24
@runnergirl2018 this probably isn't a great tip since I don't have a problem waking up and not being able to fall back asleep... but certain breathing exercise can be helpful. What time do you usually get up for the day? Is it worth it to try going back to sleep or would it make more sense to just be up earlier for the day?
@bearsandbeets7 yuck. what do you have to stay later for? I can barely make it to 5pm some days. I can't imagine having to be at work until 6!
@stardustskies I wanna say in the last week or so my energy has gotten better. Hopefully you get there soon!
@jellie603 oh no poor doggo! Hope her surgery goes well. Is that F or C temps? You know the weather is bad when people mention negative F temps

Rave: I had a craving for oatmeal chocolate chip cookies last night and I made some. They really hit the spot!
GTKY: instead of the spa day I'd just like to sit outside in the sun and read a book. It's 12 degrees here in Vermont so that won't be happening anytime soon!
@inthewoods23 if it continues I might try that. I refuse to look at the time because I know that makes it worse but if I had to guess usually around 5am and then it gets worse by 6am. I don’t have to wake up until 7 am which is a new late time for me in the past year so theee a little part of me that’s rebelling against getting up earlier. I also worry about not making it through the day but it might be worth it. I could always do my workout then!
Rave: I do love my doctor. Like love love. I don't feel stressed going to apts. She let me come in for a check when I fell just to make me feel better. And she has the best resources. Like the woman who does medical ultrasounds in her home so my husband and kiddos can be there too. I'm so glad I went this way. I would be hating this pregnancy by now without her and 100 times more stressed than I already am.

@runnergirl2018 we lived in AZ for a couple years before moving to WI and I got that question a lot too of why would we move somewhere cold. We had to move due to my dad's job! I really do appreciate actually having all 4 seasons though. It's boring for winter to be 60 degrees. That's like hoodie weather here in the fall or winter haha. I know further south when it's below 60 people bring out winter coats
@tuxielove93 I got so lucky too being at a practice that allows up to 2 healthy people with you (presumably a husband and 1 kid or something). I can't imagine not being able to let DH come in to see the ultrasounds. DH is also super excited that baby is starting to be able to hear. He likes to put his face close to my belly and say "hello in there" like Andre the Giant in The Princess Bride
@cmhme oohh yes just chilling with a quiet waterfall and maybe some ambient music. That does sound amazing! I think my GTKY question has convinced me that I will regret not doing at least some of these spa treatments at least once this pregnancy.
@novaghost99 hope things change in the next 3 weeks so YH can go to the anatomy scan!
@creativesoul63 I'm not sure I've heard of dip powder for nails. How does that work and what does it look like in the end?
@rosegoldg you wanna share some of that cake? haha
@francesgs that's how I felt with covid. I wouldn't have known any different from a cold. Hope everyone recovers soon in your house!
@courtneyqdk I was just talking about this with some other friends and apparently a lot of people will drive ridiculous distances to stay with the hairstylist they like! I actually wonder if it's what my mom has been doing since they moved a little over an hour closer to be near us. My mom gets her hair cut every 6 weeks or so (super short hair, obviously) and had asked me who I see but I was like "I go [here] but I'm trying to find someplace else so that I'm not spending $60+ on a trim". I'm sure $60 is in the middle for what I could be spending on a haircut. I'm cheap AF and need to stop being so damn frugal.

Sorry for the late check-in. It’s been just one of those weeks.
@feather_heather I forget that I’m pregnant all the time! I almost wish I would just pop already and I could start feeling movement. But I think I’m probably about a month away from that. I’m glad you got your house back to yourself. I couldn’t imagine having my MIL stay at our house.
@runnergirl2018 I’m sorry you got the stomach bug too. It’s definitely been going around. But I’m glad you’re finally feeling better.
@bearsandbeets7 I’m sorry you had to stay late at work. I hate when that happens. We work so much as it is. Part of me wishes I could go down to part time permanently. That would be an ideal situation.
@stardustskies I finally started to feel like I had energy this week, so hopefully you’re not far behind! FX!!
@jellie603 I’m so sorry about your poor puppy. Like I said last week, my dog tore hers a couple years ago, so if you have any question let me know. One thing the vet told us was that once they tear one side they are very likely to tear the other at some point. Which ended up being true for us. We repaired the first one but then opted to not repair the second. By the time her second one tore she had developed really bad arthritis in that hip, so the repair wouldn’t have made much of a difference (per the vet). She has healed up on her own tho and is able to put weight on it now. Good luck.
@lilirunning34 What are some of your triggers for indigestion? I really need to work on that because my heartburn is starting to kick in already and it got BAD last pregnancy.
@lukaspartyof3 I’m sorry you’re still nauseous. Hopefully it will go away soon for you. I do know some women have nausea throughout their whole pregnancy. So I would say if yours still hasn’t eased up in a couple more weeks then I would talk to your doctor about it. Maybe they can give you something to help.
@inthewoods23 My belly button definitely got distorted last time but it never actually pushed its way out. I think that’s the cutest thing tho! Share pictures of your reno please!!!! I need to live vicariously through you! Lol
@zinnia19 What have you been bringing to work for snacks? I need ideas lol.
@tuxielove93 I’m so glad you found a doctor you love. That’s so important, especially during this time. I’m sorry you’re still feeling sick. Have you talked to your doctor about it? Maybe she can give you something?
@cmhme Ooooo, monster cookies sound delicious! I’m sorry about the daycare closure but glad he tested negative. DS has been tested soooo many times in the past couple months due to exposure. It’s been traumatizing for him (and me)!
@novaghost99 I’m sorry you’re having back pain. I suffer from that every once in a while too. What pillow did you end up getting? I’m also really hoping MH can come to the anatomy scan. That would suck if he had to miss out on that one too.
@creativesoul63 I’m soooo over winter too. We can’t wait for our vacation in a couple weeks. That will help some, I hope. I LOVE your nails! I just recently started doing dip powder nails too. It’s fun! But takes me forever lol. I haven’t done them since finding out I was pregnant (and actually ripped off my nails and destroyed them, since I didn’t want to use acetone). I just bought a cheap kit off of amazon and it says not to use while pregnant. So I haven’t gotten to do it again since. I finally have healthy nails again lol.
@rosegoldg I’m glad you’re not feeling grumpy anymore. I feel the same way. There’s just some sort of energy going around right now. I love it!
@francesgs I’m sorry you all have covid. I’m glad your symptoms are mild. I think the quarantine is worse when you’re not feeling that awful. It makes everyone a little stir crazy.
@courtneyqdk I’m sorry for all the sickness. That is the worst. I feel like we’ve been sick every other week for the past 2 months. I finally feel like I have energy again. I hope it stays that way! I hope you guys stay healthy for a good long while too!
Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: July 29th, 14w
FTM/STM/STM+: STM
Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Team pink!!!!!!!!! Omg that feels so weird to say!
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Mille-feuille
Upcoming appointments: Not until mid Feb
How are you feeling?: Great! I finally feel like I have energy again. And I’m finally not sick with whatever random bug DS brings come from daycare.
Rants/Raves: Rave: Starting to panic a little bit about our upcoming trip to Florida. DS will not keep a mask on. He’s only 2. I just really hope we can make it through the flight without being yelled at. But other than that, I think I’m just getting more excited to be soaking up some sunshine soon!
Rant: Other than the family drama I shared on the random thread, this week has kinda been a drag. DS spiked a fever of 100.4 at daycare on Tuesday. So I had to rush to go get him. Once I got him home though he never had a temp over 100… so I don’t know what was going on. He has had this terrible cough for about 3 weeks. We took him in and they did a covid test which came back negative. I’m still a little pissed that they didn’t test him for anything else. But anyways, he got to go back to school on Thursday. Work has been so incredibly slow lately. On top of that, my supervisor doesn’t want me working with the chemicals, so half my job has to be done by another employee. And then yesterday another tool of mine was reassigned to a different employee… So now I have the smallest case load with absolutely nothing to do. BUT I also have no motivation to go find work for myself either. Part of me kinda wants to start looking into switching careers… But I also don’t want to do that while pregnant either. It’s a conundrum.
Questions: nope
GTKY: If you could treat yourself at a spa (at no cost to you) during your pregnancy, what service would you choose (massage, facial, mani, pedi, etc)? I had a massage last pregnancy that left me sore for days afterwards. So, I think I’d go with a facial. I’ve always wanted to try one!

@LJMoon6 we had an appointment at a flooring/cabinet place making selections this week and took some samples home (which I need to return today darn it!). They don't really have what we're looking for and just trying to fit in these appointments during the work day while being busy in the evenings with the robotics team, I think we're going to be pushing the reno off. We haven't actually come up with a budget. Both of us being engineers we're kind of flying by the seat of our pants with purchases sometimes in that if we just wait, we'll have more saved up and won't have to sacrifice what we really want for something else that's cheaper and either ugly or just not what we really love. Considering the size of this project we really should set a budget

@stardustskies That is a relief to hear! We’ve only tried a handful of times to get DS to wear a mask and the longest he would keep one on was 5 minutes… So I’m prepared to be handing him snacks all the time so he has an excuse to have his mask off lol.
@inthewoods23 Ugh. I hate this for you. But I completely understand. That’s basically the decision we made about our reno too. It’s such a stressful time being new parents, you don’t want to throw in house demos on top of that. Yes, definitely share you inspo pics at the very least!

@runnergirl2018 I've been having the same challenge waking up early. No good tips, but hopefully it resolves soon
@jellie603 sorry about your pup. Hopefully the surgery goes smoothly
@courtneyqdk glad you all are on the mend! This winter of illnesses seems particularly bad for my daycare kids too.
@LJMoon6 sorry about the family drama and DS fever. Florida sounds wonderful though! We are headed to New Orleans in a couple weeks and I feel like I haven't had time to really get excited.
