Upcoming Appointments or Results: Last week’s appointment went well. I pointed out a breast lump I hadn’t noticed before and the ob ordered an US to check it out. That’ll be tomorrow and I’m mildly nervous about it .
How are you feeling?: Today is a good day. Last week I had some extreme fatigue. Hoping I’m coming back from that.
Rants/Raves: I’m in a pretty good mood today! Started out a bit rough due to disrupted sleep from the dogs and the cat, but after a little coffee I’m feeling productive!
Upcoming Appointments or Results: Nothing until end of this month
How are you feeling?: Much better. Finally feel like I'm in my second trimester
Rants/Raves: My 3 year old was around my grandmother the day before she developed covid symptoms and now my grandmother has covid... The stress is outrageous. I guess she is now supposed to quarantine for 14 days since she isn't vaccinated? I am going to get her tested tomorrow.
Upcoming Appointments or Results: US with OB tomorrow and anatomy scan scheduled for the 21st.
How are you feeling?: good! Still occasional nausea, but I have zofran when I need it, which is maybe once or twice a week.
Rants/Raves: Rave: we finally settled on a name! Rant: someone close to me announced her second pregnancy over the holiday and she is due shortly after me. I’m kind of annoyed that this is going to overshadow our first pregnancy even though I am happy for her. I know it sounds bratty but I can’t help it.
Questions: what are you all thinking for a shower? I don’t want to get controversial, but a lot of my family is unvaccinated and idk if I’m comfortable having them there, but I do want them there. I know doing something virtual or semi virtual is an option but I’m just so undecided. Also thinking a lot of my husband’s family won’t come since the person above will probably be having a shower shortly after ours 🙄
Upcoming Appointments or Results: anatomy scan in two weeks
How are you feeling?: I was sick the entire month of December and am on my way to urgent care again today because I am not getting better. Hooray for pregnancy suppressing your immune system! (Sarcasm).
Rants/Raves: I felt little flutters last night as I was laying in bed which is comforting since I’ve been so sick, I was worried there might be something wrong.
Questions: is anyone switching bra sizes? I don’t want to get into the nursing bras yet but I don’t think my normal ones are going to cut it through June.
Upcoming Appointments or Results: generic appointment the 5th
How are you feeling?: pretty good!
Rants/Raves: Rant: Yesterday DD2, who is three, decided it would be a great idea to shove a dried cranberry up her nose far enough I couldn’t get it. Bc the NE is in the biggest Covid surge yet, we had to wait in line at urgent care for 30 mins to be told it would take 5 hours to be seen. Of course my husband had taken off for the day to play in a lacrosse tournament and he did not drive himself so I had the three kids by myself. I called all family and no one was around to watch them. I packed a giant bag of snacks, loaded everyone in the car and drove to the walk in near my in-laws hoping they would get back to me and come grab the other two kids.
Rave: my in-laws saved me by grabbing the other kids, while we were waiting I finally got through to the on call pediatrician who said if DD2 wasn’t in major pain we could wait to see an ENT the following day, and the final rave: DD2 told me the cranberry was no longer in her nose, it was in her throat and she swallowed it! What. A. Day.
Oh my goodness @KFrob! I remember hearing a story about one of my cousins shoving a pea up her nose, but nobody noticing until it started to rot and smell 🤢 I’m glad your girl’s cranberry came out on its own!
@pinkkillersheep I hope that lump is nothing! Sending all good thoughts for your US tomorrow.
@ournextadventure ugh, I can understand the stress. Hope your grandma is ok and didn't pass anything to your kiddo. I think the standard is to quarantine for 14 days once symptoms develop and until she tests negative.
@furmama2babymama that's a tough one regarding a shower. I guess it depends on the circumstances and when you'd be having it? Pre-current outbreak, I did see some unvaccinated friends here and there, but only outside and when covid cases here were super low. I am not comfortable seeing any unvaccinated friends during a surge like we have now. I guess you can always ask everyone to get tested before the shower + do another rapid test the day of?
@fluteling hope you start feeling better soon! I've been in stretchy no-underwire bras since both kids were born and I can't imagine going back to regular bras at this point. If they don't start fitting, I guess I'll just get 1 size up or go to maternity bras to hold me over until June.
@KFrob my goodness, that sounds so stressful! I'm glad the cranberry passed and kudos to you for handling 3 kids + that cranberry situation all on your own. And yay for helpful inlaws!

How are you feeling?: Physically ok, just feeling super large. We started telling the news to all our close friends and when people ask how far along I am, I feel weird saying 15 weeks because I look a whole 20+.
Rants/Raves: Rant - I'm mentally exhausted. DH and I both had a week off from work last week and had all these grand plans for doing things around the house + just enjoying our alone time. Well, thanks to covid, kids were home since before Xmas, daycare has been closed due to teacher shortage and positive cases and we literally had no idea what day it was the entire week with all the chaos. Kids were supposed to go back today but another teacher tested positive and they are still home. I have no idea how we will work this week + watch both kids at the same time as both of us have pretty demanding work scheduled. Rave - we had a great holiday week despite the craziness. It was also my birthday on Saturday, we did a gender reveal with the family, told the kids they are getting a baby brother, and just had a great time celebrating all around.
Questions: none really, except anyone else not feeling the baby movements yet? I'd think I'd know for sure when I feel them after 2 kids, but I'm still not sure. I've had a few "thumps" and flutters that triggers a thought each time, so maybe that's it, but it's faint enough where I'm still not 100% sure. I just want to feel things already!

How are you feeling?: pretty much normal now unless I let my blood sugar get even slightly low then little one throws a fit.
Rants/Raves: I absolutely love being able to feel her move around, not looking forward to the big kicks like I had with my son where I swear he was trying to escape.
Questions: nope
@furmama2babymama for a shower I’m just going to have a regular one and we have super mild weather here so it will probably be outside. I’m not letting covid take yet another thing away from me as I work with the public every single day and I’m just as likely to get it during that.
@kfrob why are kids like this? Like why did you look at that cranberry and decide your nose was the logical next location. I’m glad it’s out and she got to finish her snack lmfao.
Upcoming Appointments or Results: regular appt Wednesday, anatomy scan 1/24
How are you feeling?: okay most days. I feel like my bump really popped in the last week and I look pregnant now
Rants/Raves: We are headed to Disney next week so I’m hoping we all stay healthy until then. I put my phone away for most of winter break (hence why I haven’t been on for a while!) and it was glorious.
Upcoming Appointments or Results: My appointment for tomorrow got rescheduled to Wednesday with a different doctor. Hopefully that goes well. Anatomy scan Jan 26th.
How are you feeling?: Pretty decently! Yay 2nd trimester! I get tired really easily though. It did feel like baby was ripping through my muscles today though. That hurt quite a bit...more to come, I'm sure as we both grow.
Rants/Raves: My husband is out of town and I made spaghetti for dinner. My 3-year-old has a full belly and looks like he may fall asleep on the couch an hour before bedtime. Go me for making a big, warm, carb-filled dinner muahahaha
Questions: I can't figure out where the heck my uterus/baby is supposed to be at this point. I know it's moved out of my pelvis, but it is still quite a bit lower than my belly button, right?
@ournextadventure Sorry you're dealing with that. We're you able to get a test?
@fluteling I hope you're feeling better! I always go straight to nursing bras. You'll probably end up needing two sizes of nursing bras. I would get one set while pregnant and wear those until you deliver and your boobs explode in size again when you'll need bigger ones and probably want the stretchy comfy ones. Then after a few months when they settle down you'll end up back in the pregnancy size ones.
@Tulips29 Happy Birthday! Someone asked me if I was 7months pregnant. 7 months! What?! I'm with you on feeling mentally exhausted. I was saying to DH I know how lucky we are overall, but I also feel like there's always something. Someone is always sick, daycare is closed, school is closed, work falls apart, there's something unexpected to pay for.... I need a couple of weeks of normal with nothing happening.
@marionberry19 this is not our first nose experience with this kid either. I had to pull a pea out with tweezers once. She fooled me into thinking she was past it... she's exhausting. Also, I loled at her "finishing her snack"
@bww_0331 We're heading to Ft Lauderdale on the 13th and I'm freaking out about covid down there.
@binxybaby High-five for the dinner win and crushing the solo parenting!
Upcoming Appointments or Results: Anatomy in 2 weeks
How are you feeling?: A cold that won't go away (2 negative COVID tests for me and toddler) + keeping the toddler at home has me weary, depressed, bored, and fearing a world without daycare if that happens. She's bored and congested, I'm bored and congested, at least I can deal with my own snot.
Rants/Raves: New year, New attempt to meal plan and avoid excessive weight gain. Of course every meal plan is spoiled by completely empty grocery store shelves.
Whenever you start eating low carb/calorie, there's a adjustment period of constant hunger, and I'm not sure I can stomach it while I'm pregnant. It shouldn't be hard to eat mostly lean meat and vegetables, but eggs for breakfast has me energy-deficient and craving bread by 10 AM.
Questions: Am I supposed to be seeing my obgyn every month? The "So you're pregnant" papers they tossed at me just mention the anatomy scan, and the last time I saw them was the week 8 sono, at which they gave me no guidance for a follow up.
@mauvelousone you should see your obgyn once every 4-5 weeks until 24 weeks where your appointments become more frequent. You need to make an appointment for second trimester bloodwork etc…
@kfrob yes luckily we were able to get her tested yesterday... she started having a runny nose today so hoping its just a toddler cold and not anything more...
I just thought of a question... how did you guys announce to your work? I will be 20 weeks next week and plan to tell them then... I'm don't want to make a big deal about it but I know I need to let them know somehow since we are a "family" up here. I'm telling my bosses privately today since they finally gave me the promotion last week.
@ournextadventure I told my boss and team during 1 on 1 meetings. I expect the rest of my office will find out as needed or as I start showing more dramatically. Still need to talk to HR about it though.
@KFrob Thank you! Yea, a few weeks of normalcy would be really nice.
@mauvelousone I agree, you should be having monthly appointments now. I'd call the OB's office to get on a regular schedule.

Rants/Raves: Rant. Sick all through my staycation. So tired and now back to work. Was really hoping for some excitement as well as restful days over my break. Now I’m just more anxious, stressed, and exhausted than ever.
Questions: how do I tell my husband to shut the F$&k up about his cold symptoms? I’m over here pregnant, sick and miserable. I have no compassion.
@mora4272 the man-cold is way worse than anything you will ever experience. It's truly mind-boggling how we can be pregnant/sick/etc and still do everything around the house and they feel a slight cold coming on and it's like the end of the world. Eye roll!

Back for some tags @ournextadventure Sorry to hear about the Covid stress, hopefully your grandma is doing ok. As for telling work, I am terrible with these things and told my boss when he offered me a role change I had been up for. I told a few people who I thought wouldn’t be able to keep the secret but they’ve done better than expected so now I’m trying to slip it into conversation with people when relevant. @furmama2babymama Congrats on deciding on a name! On baby showers, I live out of state from all of my family and many friends so I’m not sure what will happen. But I think doing something in the spring when the weather can support an outdoor event will be fine for me. Subject to whatever variant and/or surge is happening at the time of course. @Tulips29 Happy belated birthday! That is an understandable amount of stress and mental exhaustion. Good luck with work this week. Hopefully you have an understanding employer. No movements here yet. I thought I felt something over a week ago which would’ve been extremely early but since I haven’t felt anything since I’m assuming I was mistaken. @marionberry19 Glad you’re feeling relatively normal! @bww_0331 Have fun at Disney! I’ll be curious to hear how they’re handle the current surge. Hope you are able to stay healthy and enjoy your trip! @binxybaby I swear I can feel it on my right side close to hip level so I’m assuming for me it’s not to belly button height yet. But who knows, I could be feeling a random organ lol. @mauvelousone I’ve got no advice on meal planning for a low carb/low cal diet. I’ve been too exhausted to do our usual meal planning and am trying to just get my husband to put together one protein, one grain (preferably whole grain), and one vegetable (preferably green) as a meal and call it a day. I agree with everyone that my ob told me monthly check ups until week 24. @mora4272 Sorry your staycation was a bust. And I would have no patience for DH complaining about pretty much anything. He’ll be like “Ya I know how you feel” when I tell him I’m fatigued and I look at him like “OH REALLY DO YOU”.

Upcoming Appointments or Results: 15 week appointment on Friday. Will mention my exhaustion and ask about covid precautionary measures.
How are you feeling?: Pretty good. Some days I’m totally beat and can’t get up. Some days I’m super hungry every hour and no amount of food makes me full.
Rants/Raves: Rant - yesterday, our city schools went back in person. My daughter is in kindergarten. We’ve managed to avoid covid for two years and now I feel like sending my daughter back in person is risking us again. We’re all vaxxed and boosted but My husband is immunocompromised so we’ve spent the last two years in masks and social distancing. I’m nervously waiting for any symptoms we might develop from DD being back in school. Kind of hoping to go remote until cases go down in my city. The good news is, our city is good on masking and cases in schools have been pretty low.
Rave - found a bunch of my old maternity clothes and it’s been a lifesaver! Shirts and pants are so comfy! Why did I wait so long to wear them😒 got some high rise fleece leggings from Old navy too which has also made life much happier and cozier. We’re also closing on our first house next Monday! Can’t believe we’re finally buying a house.
Questions: During my first pregnancy I never took any medications, I guess I never needed them. This time around I’ve taken Tylenol a few times for headaches. OB says it’s fine but do any of you have any experience with meds while pregnant? My mom always tells me how she didn’t take any with any of us, but times change and we’re pregnant during a pandemic. Stress all day long.
@elmann1 Congrats on closing on your first house! My understanding has been that Tylenol is fine though like anything I would probably avoid making it routine. But that is my non-medical opinion and certainly if you have reason to the benefits may outweigh any risks that exist.
Upcoming Appointments or Results: Anatomy scan 1/23
How are you feeling?: Finally better. Knock on wood, but nausea is down and headaches are gone (for a few days now)! I'm hopeful...
Rants/Raves: Rave - I'm in Hawaii for a long-planned vacation with baby daddy and friends and it's amazing. Hard not to drink every Mai Tai in sight though
Questions: I was going to ask if people were starting to feel like they're really pregnant? I've seen comments on here about not gaining any weight or not showing and I have put on at least 5-8 lbs and feel like I look huge. So it's nice to see some people comment they are feeling bigger now. I do think I'm probably eating too much but I constantly feel hungry. Now that the holidays are over, I need to start eating healthier.
@tulips29 it's nice to hear you say you feel big (and happy birthday). Like @bww_0331 - All of a sudden this week I feel like I really popped and it's pretty cool but it's also so strange and a little awkward. I honestly keep thinking I've just eaten too much but my stomach feels rock hard and I guess it's cuz there is a baby in there! I haven't had any "flutters" yet and I don't know what to expect as a FTM but I am really looking forward to it.
@pinkkillersheep keep us updated on the breast lump US - sending good thoughts! @fluteling i hope you feel better soon! @binxybaby great question - I'm so curious what is my uterus and what is just my squished organs and bloat.
@pinkkillersheep thank you! You’re totally right, I’ve only taken Tylenol about 7 times since I was 4 weeks, but took it 0 times with my first pregnancy. Feel guilty about everything these days.
@shoarmie99 I saw that thread too. I’m definitely feeling bigger but awkward. I’ve also gained about 6-8 lbs this far. I’m also short so there’s no where for this little bump to go but out and i work from home so don’t get a lot of walking and have a huge appetite all the time. Again, super different than my first pregnancy but feel mostly normal.
@elmann1 I had major headaches with my 1st and 2nd and Tylenol was a lifesaver. I made sure not to take more than the recommended dose though and my OB said it's fine, but definitely worth asking yours. This time around my OB said again only Tylenol when needed. I get really bad headaches from time to time and need at least 3-4 doses within 24 hours for it to really go away.
@shoarmie99 Hawaii is amazing, enjoy it! I'm honestly jealous of people who haven't gained any weight, but I know healthy baby is all that matters. I've gained 5 lbs alone this moth, so my OB will not be happy. He doesn't want me gaining anything or as little as possible and I'm not even half-way there.

@elmann1 Tylenol should be fine. I had to take a bunch of over the counter meds last time and I’m back on them again. Aside from prenatal and folic acid, I’m back on daily Tylenol, famotidine (generic Pepcid), and Unisom. Clear it all with your OB first, but medications have been very helpful for me.
Quick update from me on the breast ultrasound. It was a solid mass so they wanted to biopsy it. Got that done this morning and should hopefully have the results by Friday but might not be till Monday. Definitely did not enjoy that procedure and it’s pretty awkward sitting here in the office icing my boob 🙄 But the good news is there weren’t any concerning features about the mass so it’s most likely benign. I think they were just being super cautious because of the pregnancy.
@elmann1 I get bad headaches sometimes. I know Tylenol is okay to take, but I get worried so don't take any and end up just napping till the headache goes away ( once my husband is home and can watch DD, that is.)
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: June 9th/17 wks 6 days
FTM/STM/TTM+: STM
Upcoming Appointments or Results: Had one today. Was disappointed because I finally was able to have a support person with me, but today turned out not to be an ultrasound but just the heartbeat check.
How are you feeling?: I get really hungry. Bladder gets full fast. Sciatica has been bothering me.
Rants/Raves: I think now and then I feel movement, but can't be sure. Last pregnancy, I felt flutters at 16 weeks. Not sure, when I will feel that now.
Upcoming Appointments or Results: Had regular OB appt last week and heard the heart beat for the first time! All normal. I asked my OB about what to do IF I get Covid and she said, WHEN you get covid, call us and we'll decide together if you need to go to OB triage and get monoclonal antibodies there (I am vaxxed and boosted but immunocompromised at baseline). So I guess at least they're making them more accessible to pregnant women? But, she was fairly certain I'd be exposed before the end of the pregnancy but reassured me that a bad outcome when vaccinated is very unlikely. Rechecked blood work since I was borderline hyperthyroid last time, but everything is good now. Anatomy scan in a month.
How are you feeling?: Fine, just kinda low motivation. Not totally loving this awkward stage between showing and just feeling bloated and big (despite only gaining a pound!).
Rants/Raves: We made an appointment at a local baby boutique to "test drive" some strollers and car seats on NYE. It was a lot of fun, felt very Covid safe, the associate was super knowledgeable, and I think we narrowed it down to one option for each. It was nice to see and use them IRL and side by side. Also made me a lot more confident in choosing an infant car seat and stroller that need an adapter to work together. Started a registry there too, and also briefly panicked about furniture delivery delays.
Questions: What's the latest you'd consider telling your manager about your pregnancy if it's not someone you ever see in person, and only see a couple of times per month virtually. It seems likely I might have to tell my direct reports/peers first because they see me a lot more often than my boss and we're a very close-knit group. They'd also be the people covering for me. For context, I plan to take our paid 12 weeks plus maybe 2-4 weeks of PTO I've banked either at the same time or spread out 1-2 days per week as I ease back into work. I just got this new boss and promotion, so just trying to be thoughtful. Thanks!
@pinkkillersheep Fingers crossed for your biopsy results! I work at a cancer center and usually the docs won't say reassuring things like that unless they're pretty sure. I know waiting is hard, though.
@furmama2babymama I'm wondering the same thing about showers. I'm thinking I might do an outdoors one in the spring for local folks. But realistically, most of my friends are spread out across the country at this point so virtual or doing both options might make more sense. Definitely not doing indoors, though.
@fluteling ugh, I need to get some new bras too. I just keep putting it off because I like my older ones and I probably need to go up like two sizes.
@hillies22 That sounds fun to check out car seats and strollers. I think I will do that sometime soon. "When" I would have preferred that she said "If" simply because I like to think positive.
@hillies22 I am not hyperthyroid but hypo (hashimotos has left me with basically no natureal thyroid function) & pregnancy with concerns about thyroid levels is so stressful for me so I’m glad that your labs looked good this time around.
@hillies22 I'm also debating when to tell. I know legally, you have to give a 30 day notice prior to your leave. First time I told at 16 weeks and second time at 14 weeks because I couldn't hide it anymore, but I was also seeing everyone in person. Now that I'm remote, I think I'll wait until 20 weeks to tell. There's no right or wrong timing, just as long as enough notice is given for your manager to plan for your leave.
@pinkkillersheep glad everything went well so far and hopefully you get good results soon!

@marionberry19 Thanks! I was really surprised with the initial result, as every other woman in my family is hypo, not hyper. Haha. OB said it's normal in early pregnancy because there's some structural similarities between HCG and TSH, so when HCG is very high in first trimester, it can mess with thyroid hormones.
@romeoandjuliet146 I highly recommend if you have a similar place near you!
@Tulips29 thank you for this info! That's along the lines of what I was thinking but I just wanted to make sure it wasn't too unusual to wait until 20ish weeks.
@romeoandjuliet146 What is your experience with sciatica and do you have any tricks/tips to prevent? I was laid up with horrible sciatica a year ago after several months of low back pain and tight butt muscles - I'd been trying to run through the pain and it made it so much worse. Now I do core strengthening exercises but some of them don't feel good with my current belly expanding, so my back pain is coming back and I'm worried. I'm thinking about trying to find a physical therapist...

FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM
FTM/STM/TTM+: STM
Upcoming Appointments or Results: anatomy scan in two weeks
How are you feeling?: I was sick the entire month of December and am on my way to urgent care again today because I am not getting better. Hooray for pregnancy suppressing your immune system! (Sarcasm).
Rants/Raves: I felt little flutters last night as I was laying in bed which is comforting since I’ve been so sick, I was worried there might be something wrong.
Questions: is anyone switching bra sizes? I don’t want to get into the nursing bras yet but I don’t think my normal ones are going to cut it through June.
FTM/STM/TTM+: 4th
Questions: nope
I need to check back to tag everyone

Upcoming Appointments or Results: Have my 16w appointment with MFM on Wednesday. We start monitoring my cervix for any signs of pre-term labor since my DD was born 5 weeks early and I have a higher chance of it happening again. I'm a bit stressed out about it and hoping all stays ok down there.

Upcoming Appointments or Results: anatomy scan 1/31, 20 week routine checkup 2/1 so we are getting a hotel and staying overnight out of town.
FTM/STM/TTM+: third
Upcoming Appointments or Results: regular appt Wednesday, anatomy scan 1/24
How are you feeling?: okay most days. I feel like my bump really popped in the last week and I look pregnant now
Rants/Raves: We are headed to Disney next week so I’m hoping we all stay healthy until then. I put my phone away for most of winter break (hence why I haven’t been on for a while!) and it was glorious.
Questions: none
@mauvelousone I agree, you should be having monthly appointments now. I'd call the OB's office to get on a regular schedule.

How are you feeling?: exhausted
Rants/Raves: Rant. Sick all through my staycation. So tired and now back to work. Was really hoping for some excitement as well as restful days over my break. Now I’m just more anxious, stressed, and exhausted than ever.
Questions: how do I tell my husband to shut the F$&k up about his cold symptoms? I’m over here pregnant, sick and miserable. I have no compassion.

@ournextadventure Sorry to hear about the Covid stress, hopefully your grandma is doing ok.
FTM/STM/TTM+: STM
FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM

@KFrob That is scary! I am glad your DD is okay.
@Tulips29 Happy Belated Birthday!
@elmann1 I get bad headaches sometimes. I know Tylenol is okay to take, but I get worried so don't take any and end up just napping till the headache goes away ( once my husband is home and can watch DD, that is.)

Questions:
@furmama2babymama I'm wondering the same thing about showers. I'm thinking I might do an outdoors one in the spring for local folks. But realistically, most of my friends are spread out across the country at this point so virtual or doing both options might make more sense. Definitely not doing indoors, though.
@fluteling ugh, I need to get some new bras too. I just keep putting it off because I like my older ones and I probably need to go up like two sizes.
@pinkkillersheep glad everything went well so far and hopefully you get good results soon!

@romeoandjuliet146 I highly recommend if you have a similar place near you!
@Tulips29 thank you for this info! That's along the lines of what I was thinking but I just wanted to make sure it wasn't too unusual to wait until 20ish weeks.
