Re: Weekly Check in 12/20

  • @faithmovesmountains I'm sorry your friend is so clueless. Friendship is meant to be strong and supportive and if what she is offering is making things more difficult for you, then I don't see that as friendship. And your posts are never a bother in here! This forum exists to give us all the support we need and that we aren't able to get IRL. We all need to vent and be heard and supported at different times in different ways. I am so sorry your friend isn't able to see or understand what you need. And I'm sorry for the news you received today, but I'm so glad they are in top of it and that baby has already had at least this long inside. She has so much love waiting for her when she arrives no matter when she needs to arrive. Sending love ❤

  • @Jeenyus I'm glad you were able to get such good advice and have a solid plan moving forward. And I love that it was just by chance a fill in OB that was able to help!!!!
  • @gembud so glad H is better and you got to go home!!
@jennifer_m21 A going home outfit thread would be fun! Sorry to hear about DS Hulk…hope you guys find it!
@kgg2241  My DH and I were SO close to booking a private ultrasound last week, even though we will have one at the Dr in a couple of weeks…might still happen lol
@faithmovesmountains Bless you, mama. I can only imagine the emotions you are going through right now. I’m so glad that they are keeping close tabs and monitoring Lilly Rose so thoroughly, sounds like you have a great team. I will be praying for you both that she is able to stay out for as long as possible. I’m also sorry to hear about your friend not understanding your perspective. The anxiety and PTSD you feel are hard come by, and she should thank God daily that she doesn’t understand. Please try to let go of the shame surrounding those emotions: your feelings are valid, and you need and have a right to support; not a guilt trip, from your friend or yourself. Here for you whenever!
@Jeenyus Yay for being able to get some helpful answers! That must be a relief.

  • @faithmovesmountains I echo what @morgantu said above.  Keep posting here, support through the uncertain times is one of the best parts of a birth month board!

It sounds like your friend is going through a rough period herself, and is placing blame on you vs looking inward.  She may be experiencing compassion fatigue, but there are better ways to express this that don't tear down others.

    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • @friends-fan I will be thinking of you as you await your NIPT results!

@achanceintime like your DS, my DD1 is old enough to be excited about Christmas this year too and it is so much fun!

@rachelredhead +1 for Elf and the Grinch here too!

@morgantu I’ve been having some trouble going to sleep after waking up to pee as well 😣 It makes for some very long days the mornings that I don’t go back to sleep. And we are with you on projects that we are trying to get done before we host my parents and brother on Christmas 🤦‍♀️

@Panaceia I am so sorry to hear about the barriers you’ve been experiencing to getting a booster 😞

@night_nurse what a great idea about the pre-made prime rib for Christmas! That’s a great idea for simplifying on the holidays where possible.

@faithmovesmountains I am so sorry to hear you’ve got so much weighing on you. Between the news about the placenta and your friend not being able to be there for you in the way you need (and deserve!) at the moment, it is a lot to carry every day. If only anxiety and PTSD were things we could all just ‘get over’ 🙄😤 I would encourage you to continue to post here, we want to be here for you and support you. Surrounding you with virtual hugs tonight 💕

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Girl

Upcoming Appointments: 12/13  GTT and midwife appt

How are you feeling?: Feeling ok 🤷‍♀️ Had some sharp round ligament pain tonight that was very surprising and stopped me in my tracks but thankfully it went away after a little while!

Rants/Raves: Rant. I’ve been having a really hard time wrapping my mind around the ongoing Covid situation. I ended up as the primary caregiver for my toddler while simultaneously working from home too many times this year (not while pregnant, thank goodness). I know SO many families struggled with this, but I just cannot fathom doing it while feeling so exhausted and limited. And with the disappointing news about vaccine trial results for under 5, I am having a hard time seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I had put so much faith that the science would come through for the little ones and we could feel a bit more at ease… ugh.

    Questions: none today.

GTKY: Do you have a favorite winter/holiday song or movie? I love old Christmas music and a cappella renditions of classics  by Pentatonix! Elf and the Grinch are two favorite winter movies at our house 🥰

  • Everyone’s been very active this week. And I am sorry but I have no way of individually responding 😂😅 but I’ve been reading with everyone posting and am thinking about those going through some tough struggles at this time, definitely in my thoughts ❤️

    EDD / Weeks + Days: 25+6. March 31

Baby is the size of a(n) / interesting fact: you know I always read this  then forget about it..😅

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: blue

Upcoming Appointments: 1/11 for GTT and lab work and regular appt

How are you feeling?: okay  just always tired (kind of hoping I’m anemic so there’s a reason for extra tiredness😂 but I’m sure it’s just being pregnant  with a toddler  working  etc  🤷🏻‍♀️

Rants/Raves: nothing new here really. Just keeping on.  (Also ranting that it’s still our budget month because I’m ready to finish up shopping for the nursery 😂)

    Questions: natm

GTKY: Do you have a favorite winter/holiday song or movie? Elf is always a for sure for me! We watched it last night! Always so much fun.

  • @faithmovesmountains So sorry to hear about your placenta news, sounds like they are on top of it though. I know that doesn’t mean a whole lot when your mind is racing with all that this diagnosis entails. Just try to take it day by day, small victories. I’m with you in that Incan go at any moment and there is a good chance for some NICU time. I feel like a ticking time bomb.  Your friend doesn’t sound much like a friend to me at all. Maybe she has some personal struggles happening?  Either way, you’re certainly no bother here and if you need to vent or talk I would be happy to listen.

Upcoming Appointments: I pretty much have some kind of appointment weekly.  Currently writing this at my GTT   Anxious for my growth scan the first week of February, I’m willing to bet she’s too big for their liking so I’m curious how they’ll want to proceed.

How are you feeling?: getting better emotionally but I’m so physically uncomfortable.  I was not prepared to be this uncomfortable this early on but I’m welcoming it with open arms because it means I’m still pregnant. Can’t put my socks on without a struggle and don’t get me started on rolling over 😂

Rants/Raves: Small rant  FIL is not vaccinated and lives in Florida  dreading the conversation that he won’t be allowed to visit us or baby without it because he loves to always be the victim.

Questions: TMI but how the hell are you ladies shaving your lady parts ?  I don’t remember it being this challenging with DS (8 years ago) but I can’t see anything.  At this point it’s gonna me SO, my mother, or my sister who have to do it.

GTKY: Do you have a favorite winter/holiday song or movie? Oooooo this is tough. I love all things holiday. My Dad always played the chipmunks Christmas album for us on Christmas and I have done the same for DS and he absolutely loves it

  • @jenis_fan_for_life I’m with you on the disappointment for the under 5 set. I did read somewhere that the expectation is still 2+ should have a vaccine by mid year 2022. DS turns 2 in July and I’m pinning a lot of hope on a shot for his 2nd birthday. In the meantime, I guess when my milk comes in I’ll try to mix it in with some of his food/milk to maaaaaybe give him some antibodies. 🤷‍♀️

@Nik102 ha! Shaving? I let my husband know that ship has sailed for awhile. Welcome to the jungle, honey! 😂
  • @Nik102 shaving.... how ambitious of you!! Yeah.. I'm not. But i have heard of people having their partner do it. Also heard of people going to get a wax before baby. with all that bloodflow, it's a big no thanks for me- but YDY!!!
  • @Nik102 I've somewhat successfully tried a mirror but im about to agree with everyone else...seems like an awful lot of effort .  With all the swelling I got going on and varicose veins (Sorry TMI) Waxing sounds horrific!  No thanks 🤣
  • @Nik102 I'm with the others. No lady bit shaving here! My OB actually recommends against it in pregnancy as the hair is there to help stop bacteria etc from getting into your lady parts. I figure they can deal with the deforestation of whatever parts they need during the c-section!

@jenis_fan_for_life What are they saying about under 5? We have the news on constantly here but I haven't heard anything. On my way to look for some info in a minute....

@rachelredhead I am planning on hopefully nursing DD2 again after baby gets here, so I'm hoping if she doesn't get her vaccination yet she will at least get antibodies from me. I was nursing her through my first 2 doses too so I'm hoping she at least has something:/
  • @night_nurse I did the same thing for Christmas dinner. We’re picking up from a local restaurant who offers takeaway meals that we just heat up in the oven! We did it last year and it took so much pressure off!

@Nik102 I’m getting what I can in the shower without looking, but I know it’s not pretty.

EDD / Weeks + Days: 27 weeks today

Baby is the size of a(n) / interesting fact: Still no idea! I just can’t remember to check that every week.

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Blue

Upcoming Appointments: I think Jan 3 and that‘s when I’ll do my GD test

How are you feeling?: Meh. I have some good day, but mostly I’m just constantly exhausted and feel gross.

Rants/Raves: Doing Christmas with MIL today and…so joyful. I always get so stressed out having her here. She actually said to me this morning when MH and DS were giving her a hug “you’re not too fat to come give us a hug. Get over here.” Like 🤯🤯🤯 who effing says that?! I made the mistake of talking to her about my weight gain so far last night, but I didn’t expect her to us that against me.

Questions: anybody else just wish we didn’t have to do gifts with extended family at Christmas? Like, I’ll gladly have a meal and celebrate being with you, but adding in gifts just stresses me out.

GTKY: Do you have a favorite winter/holiday song or movie? I love Elf. It just always makes me so happy and puts me in the holiday spirit.

  • @appleblossom8317 Sorry she made such an insensitive comment:/ I'm feeling really terrible about my weight gain with this pregnancy and I don't think I could handle any negative comments. I hope you at least gave her a dirty look! Also, we have a policy that we only get gifts for our own kids. We don't exchange gifts with anyone else in our family, including me and SO. It is sooo much nicer just spending money on my own kids and not having to worry about gifts for anyone else. I remember how much I hated having to get gifts for SO's family when we first got together. I do not miss that stress!
  • @Nik102 lol yeah, no lady bit shaving here either. I’m still comfortable getting my legs, but towards the end of 3rd trimester with DS, I had my husband shave my legs haha.
@appleblossom8317 ouch. Sounds like your MIL and mine would get along swell. I’m sorry she was so rude and insensitive.
  • you all! i can't believe i forgot to put "the santa clause" in contention for my favorite holiday movie!!! I love that one and it cracks me up :)
  • First, I want to thank you all.
It means a lot to be accepted. I always worry that I’m bothering someone.

    @Nik102
Time bomb does kind of describe the feeling, doesn’t it? I’ve been thinking of you a lot and it makes my heart glad every time I see you post and you’re still hanging in there.
Here’s hoping we both can get closer to term.

On the shaving note, I kind of just go by feel. I’ve given up on it being perfect, so long as I can trim stuff back enough that my OB doesn’t complain about my ‘lady jungle’ I’m good.
And yes, I had an OB complain once that it was too long in one of my pregnancies. Lol

  • @faithmovesmountains are you kidding?!?! i can't believe the OB said something. I'd be like well grab the scissors then lady. OMGGGGGGGGGGG
  • @jenis_fan_for_life totally with you re:vaccines for younger kids. Was really hoping my first would be vaccinated before baby arrived.

@Nik102 I use an electric razor to just keep things tame but not completely shaved. Will admit, it has become more difficult recently though.

@appleblossom8317 you were probably too shocked to retort, but I totally would not have been able to not say something back to your MIL.

@Nik102 I'm with you on the socks lol, I'm doing this strange flick thing to take my socks off, where I kick them up and catch them.  Putting on shoes, shaving, and squatting down at work are all .... interesting ... experiences now.  I don't remember this happening so soon last time!

Also, the Schick Quattro TrimStyle Bikini Trimmer works well - I just remove the razor end and use the trimmer side.  Can't see a thing, but it does a good enough job without risking cutting myself!

@rachelredhead I was glad to find out that I can safely nurse baby, I'll be nursing to hopefully get those antibodies in!  It was recommended I hold off on the booster for now as I had some heart issues after dose 2, but hopefully after delivery it will be okay!

@appleblossom8317 How horrid!  I don't have the best relationship with my MIL either, she'll sneak in those comments when my husband isn't around, but never when he's there.

We do a secret santa with extended family, so only one $50 gift to buy, and to receive, a year.

  • @faithmovesmountains I really can’t believe your OB said something… in all honesty I can check a patients cervix all day long. And if we need to go for a csection for any reason I never even remember what the status of their hair situation is.
No one cares on this side of it 🤷🏻‍♀️

This being said I shave/trim things up just purely for my comfort 🤷🏻‍♀️ But it takes a great deal of effort 😂
  • @morgantu 🤣🤣🤣 at grab the scissors lady 🤣🤣🤣
  • @faithmovesmountains oh my word I would switch OBs so fast. Shaving is a Western thing anyway and expecting any kind of specific level of trim is so rude. Women are meant to have hair down there and nature intended a full bush. Anything less than that is just personal preference and an OB should keep their trap shut about it.
  • Lol Fortunately I haven’t seen that OB this pregnancy. The place I go sort of schedules you with whoever is available so I’ve seen 3 different OBs this pregnancy, but they’ve all been great. Granted I’m sure to keep myself trimmed after the first time something was said.

    @morgantu
Lol I wish I’d had that level of confidence. 😂
  • @Panaceia the efficacy data for under 5 was lacking (though the safety data was good!). They are going back and giving all trial participants a third dose, so the FDA review and possible emergency approval will be delayed until this efficacy data is collected and found to (hopefully) be
    more robust. 😞
  • @jenis_fan_for_life FX the 3rd dose does ends up giving them what they need then:/ I'm still hopeful that they'll have at least something for the littles by September...or at least by the end of 2022:/

Upcoming Appointments: I just had one yesterday with my OB and I have my glucose test on Jan. 4th.

How are you feeling?: So far so good. Everything looked good yesterday at my appointment. I am taking iron. I wasn't anemic, but they were worried I might slip below where I need to be so it's preemptive. But I don't love the iron. LOL. Also, I was a little heavier than I was expecting when I stepped on the scale, but they said I was still within a healthy range because I was right where I should be for how much weight I've gained overall, but then they worry about GD if I gain too much too quickly.  :#  I don't know. I don't feel like I'm unhealthy. But my birthday is this coming Saturday and my H is making me a homemade carrot cake, so I'm going to eat it and not worry too much until after the holidays.

    Rants/Raves:

Rant: I have a home BP monitor machine and it's just pretty much stopped reading accurately. So, now, I guess I need to wait until I go to the dr. office to know that it's all good. I seriously don't know what happened. I haven't even had it for a year.

Rave: My H and I met another couple at the OB office and we had a late, socially distanced and masked when not eating breakfast with them and exchanged numbers.  She's due in early January, so she's ready to have her baby any day now. They are also having their first and they are around my age (which has seemed so unusual here when I've met other pregnant people. They have all been pretty young). I'm super excited to have made a friend here and I am doubly excited that they are also going to have a new baby so they have a lot of the same types of interests that we do.

Rave: We finally bought a crib. It took me a long time to find one that I thought was good quality, but also in our price range and we were able to get it from a small local store (which I was excited about).

Rave: I was able to sign up for my booster on Jan. 8th! I'm so excited. I've been so nervous about the whole thing especially with Omicron raging in Quebec. :(

    Questions: None at the moment.

GTKY: Do you have a favorite winter/holiday song or movie?

I love watching the Harry Potter movies and I also love It's a Wonderful Life. I have to watch it around Christmas. We tried watching Home Alone (because I always remembered it so fondly) but when we rewatched it, we realized that Kevin's mom is the only relatable character in the whole movie because she's freaking out about her baby boy being home alone for DAYS. lol.

I'm not really a Christmas song person, but I do really like God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

@friends-fan I'm sorry about having to cancel having your family for Christmas, especially while you are all missing your dad so much. I hope that you will be able to be together again soon without having to worry about Covid.

@achanceintime I have an anterior placenta as well and totally understand feeling stressed about low movement. But, I'm so happy for you being in your third trimester! You're almost there!

@rachelredhead Good luck on your GD test!

@morgantu I feel you with the insomnia. It's so hard to fall back asleep. Sometimes, I manage to right before my alarm goes off. :( Also, sorry about your contractor/home woes. But yay! for toddlers who are excited for Christmas! I can imagine how fun that age is!

@faithmovesmountains I'm so sorry about your bff. I definitely have friends who seem to avoid me (even over text messages and things) these days. Most of them are single or younger or don't have any interest in having children and I think that they are bored with hearing me talk about being pregnant, or they just can't relate,  so they are sort of standoffish. At first I was upset, but now I just feel like hopefully we can reconnect after the baby is born.

Also, I'm sorry about everything you're going through with Lily Rose. It does sound scary and absolutely reasonable to be so stressed and anxious about it. I'm sending you and your family so much love and support.

@realhousewife519 I am so impressed with your baking! That sounds amazing! And it's making my mouth water.

@Panaceia I'm so sorry you're still feeling so sick. I hope you're able to find some relief soon. Also, I really hope you're able to get your booster soon. I can totally relate to the anxiety of wanting to get it as soon as possible.

@Jeenyus I'm glad your bp is looking good. I sympathize about the iron. I have had to go on an iron pill as well. I hope that it will help your levels go up quickly. What have you added to your diet to get more iron? I am trying to incorporate things in my diet as well that will be helpful, but I still feel an aversion to a lot of meat, so I have been trying to use black beans and things like that.

@night_nurse OMG! A premade Christmas dinner is a brilliant idea! I wish I had thought of that. LOL.

@jennifer_m21 I hope you find your Hulk figure. It's so tragic when kids lose a toy that they are so attached to and on top of that for it to be a collector's item from your brother.

@gembud Happy you made it home!

@kgg2241 I'm also trying to catch up. lol. I was off for a week because of crazy work stress/OT before the holidays and now I feel like I missed so much. But, I hope that you had a lovely Christmas US.
