  • @goldfishcraker we really liked the Siena! Great space, drives smooth, and the 2021 really looks sleeker and not quite as minivan-ish.

Threat management training sounds like a trip to me, so stressful (but helpful) to train for those risks. I’m glad they were being considerate and tried not to totally distress the pregnant lady!
  • @rachelredhead good luck with the car search! If you don’t already, I highly recommend following the car mom on Instagram or looking up her reviews for those cars on YouTube. She is a mom of 2 and CPST who has great insight on car features that are important for families!
  • I’ve seen a lot of people post that they are having a growth scan at their 28w appt. Is that standard? I did get a scan with MFM while in the hospital last week but nothing scheduled with OB. I can’t remember back on my first if that happened or not?
  • @night_nurse I won’t have a growth scan at 28 weeks. I don’t think I had one for DS either. I think they do schedule one if the blood sugar tests are concerning, just to get a sense of baby’s size.
  • @night_nurse i don't think it's normal....in general. I think typically the last one is the AS, but seems like a lot of us have stuff that needs "checked up on" lol. My 28 week scan is for placenta position, which is transvaginal. They better show me that baby while i'm there, though! My last pregnancy, i didn't have one after the AS until 39 weeks, when we found out she was breech!
  • @night_nurse I'm having a growth scan at 28w/32w/36w because of twins. With DS, I don't think I had another anatomy scan until 32 weeks or so?
  • I feel so MIA lately and it's making me sad. My sinus infection got to unbearable levels last week. I couldn't even open my left eye because it was too painful. I had my glucose test and told my OB about how bad I've been feeling. She called over to the ENT office and got me right in. Like at that moment. I am so thankful because I'm finally doing better. Once I started doing better DD came down with something. So yesterday I tried to work from home while also caring for her. Same for today.

@night_nurse no growth scan for me either.
  • @night_nurse “standard” per ACOG is really only a viability scan in first trimester and then the 20 week anatomy scan! Every beyond that is based on risk factors(Advanced maternal age, measuring small/large, history of certain things, diabetes, htn. Etc)/lack of visualization from previous scans.
  • Awesome. Thanks everyone. Making it wasn't just one more thing my HMO insurance has decided not to do anymore. GL to everyone on their scans this coming week
  • @night_nurse I'm getting up there in the AMA category and still never have scans after the AS unless there are unforseen circumstances. The AS was hopefully the last scan for me this time around!

@kgg2241 I'm sorry you were feeling so rotten, but glad it is starting to get a bit better at least ❤

Just had my OB appointment this morning. All looks good. 26+1 today but measuring over 30 weeks...watch, he'll end up being my smallest baby yet 🤣
  • @kgg2241
Sorry you’ve been so sick, hope your kiddo feels better soon!

In other news found out today that I don’t have gestational diabetes, so that’s good.

Unfortunately, though, despite a prenatal with iron and my best efforts to eat decent, I’m anemic so the OB wants me on iron pills and if when they draw my blood at my next appointment they aren’t satisfied with my iron levels they said I would need to get it via IV for the rest of the pregnancy.
The idea makes my head spin a bit.

So many appointments to keep track of already, hoping the pills do the trick.
  • We didn't have a routine 28 week scan planned. My last one would have been my AS at 20 weeks but issues have been found...

So, at 26 weeks (roughly) I had my rescan from previous issues at 20 week AS. Choroid plexus cyst on brain and dilated kidneys. So, I read the US report online a day later and seen the kidneys were still dilated but due to position/age of baby, they weren't able to determine Choroid plexus. Well, I have an OB appt monday..today I received a call from my OB himself telling me that he's had these results on his desk for 4 days trying to decide whether to call me or wait until my scheduled appt. He suggested bloodwork to look for chromosomal abnormalities as my scans are looking like Trisomy 13,18, or 21.....He is also referring me to MFM at a larger hospital with a high risk specialist for a better Ultrasound Scan to determine if there are more abnormalities. He plans to get me in before the holidays.  I feel rushed and that worries me more   Guys...I have cried all evening. I am absolutely terrified and I know I'm getting ahead of myself and letting my emotions get the best of me. My brain tells me wait until you know more...but I am SO scared of the unknown.
  • @friends-fan I'm so sorry this is the news you got. I cannot imagine the stress and worry you must be dealing with right now. Did they find other issues besides the dilated kidney at your last scan? I only ask because DD1 had a dilated kidney from her 20 week scan all the way up until delivery. It resolved itself after birth. I looked for info online at the time and found it was a soft marker for some things, but since my ETFS and NT scan had come back normal they weren't too concerned and luckily baby was healthy. Are they going to send you for the NIPT testing? If so hopefully you will have the results back quickly so you won't have to be stuck in limbo. I have everything crossed that it is simply a case of a dilated kidney that resolves on its own. Thinking of you and sending all positive thoughts your way. I hope you are able to get some concrete answers soon ❤
  • @Panaceia the kidneys paired with the Choroid plexus in his brain is the reason for concern.   One or the other by themselves wasnt a cause for concern, but together makes them want to do a more thorough scan. I had routine blood work done in 1st trimester with my family dr.  Second trimester at my OB they've done the maternal serum screen is the only bloodwork for genetic things as far as I know.  I think thats just the one with the probability based on age and such? I didn't have a NT scan..or anything else that I know of. This other bloodwork he wants me to come in for in a couple days he didn't say what it was called, just that its more thorough and the next step would be amniocentesis if I wanted to go that route.  He did say the blood results would take about a week to get back but didn't tell me what it was called...he said I would probably know something from the high risk scan sooner than bloodwork.
  • @friends-fan
I’m sorry you’re going through that. :/ Here’s hoping you find encouraging news at the end of all this.
  • @night_nurse I don't know if it helps at all, but it's not standard here.

@Panaceia yay for a great appointment and awesome growth!!

@friends-fan oh my goodness I'm so sorry! What stressful news! I hope things are ok. Please keep us updated and come vent and talk as much as you need or want! Im so sorry you are going through this!!! Sending you love!
  • @friends-fan I can’t imagine your stress right now. FX and praying that you are able to be seen and get results quickly, and that you both are healthy. Please keep us posted!
  • Thank you so much for all of your support.  I knew you all would understand the stress and anxieties of it all. I will update when I know more of whats going on. 💙
  • @friends-fan I wish I could give you a big hug. I can't imagine how emotional and stressed you must feel. Thinking of you and hoping you get results back quickly ❤️.
  • @friends-fan I'm so sorry 😞 I hope they get you in soon and you can get those scan results before the holidays so you don't have to spend them in limbo. I know I have absolutely nothing to say that is at all helpful but know I'm thinking of you guys and hoping theblood tests and scans come back with the best possible results ❤❤❤
  • @friends-fan So heartbroken for you. The waiting would be so hard. I hope they are able to get you in quickly with minimal delays due to the holidays. Keep us updated please ❤️
  • @friends-fan Oh my! I am so sorry that you are in this situation, and hope MFM has more answers for you. Thinking of you, and praying that the results come back quickly so that you can plan for next steps!
  • @friends-fan - Thinking of you. I really hope you get some answers and some peace before the holidays <3
  • @friends-fan I'm so sorry you are going through this. While Addi's challenges were different, having some much info thrown at us so quickly was difficult to process. For us, Google only made us worry more. I hope you are able to get answers soon, and will be hoping for good outcomes.
  • @luckyduck42
How are you holding up? I’ve still been thinking of you and your family.
  • Well my 3 hour glucose test started about 20 minutes ago. I’ve been up since 4:30 this morning, so that maybe isn’t helping. But oof I feel nauseated. I brought a book and some crochet to keep me occupied, but I’m having a hard time focusing anything at the moment.
  • @achanceintime
FX that all goes well, sorry you didn’t get enough sleep. :(
  • @achanceintime I hope the three hours goes by fast for you!  Too bad you aren't able to sneak in a nap there.
  • We've been slacking on product threads. I was thinking of starting an 'all things baby feeding thread' where you can give advice or ask questions about bottles, formula, pumps, breastfeeding, etc.

Question-- should I do one thread or would the group rather have individual threads for each topic?
  • @kgg2241 Good idea! Maybe one for breastfeeding and one for products? Just in case it is triggering to some to have them together? I'm good either way 😀
  • @achanceintime I'm sorry you're not feeling well:/ Hopefully the time passes quickly!
  • @achanceintime I hope the nausea has eased and the time is passing quickly. Too bad you can't go home and nap or something!

I've got my GTT tomorrow but it's only an hour. I'm HOPING they will let me wonder the mall...I've got some small gifts left to pick up. I've also got a boat load of studying to do so I'll bring a textbook.
But you having to be there for 3 hours is cruddy!
  • While I am on light duties at work, I am working in a clerical position. There has been some shuffling of higher-ups positions in the last 2 weeks. My boss got promoted and someone else is acting in his place.
She was off sick for the last 3 days.

One of my big tasks at work is taking payments for license renewals. I then make up a new license card and send it to my boss for authorization/signature before sending it to the customer.
It's an excessively busy time of year because There are roughly 1000 licensed technicians whose licenses all expire on December 31st. And of course they all left it to the last minute to renew.

By 10:00 a.m. I had sent my boss at least a dozen renewal cards to sign.
I get the impression the new boss is frustrated and overwhelmed with the amount of work in the position.
She emailed me back saying "did you bother sending any of these to the person who was covering while (she) was off sick."
I replies that all of the ones I had sent her had come in this morning 😂

I had one shift that I had over 30 I sent to the last boss.... newbie is in for a surprise over the next few weeks hahaha.

  • @goldfishcraker I always chuckle when new people start to realize the amount of work involved in a new job 😂 I hope things don't get too crazy for you these next few weeks! Also, they wouldn't even let people walk to their cars to wait for the 1 hour GTT here because they said that even just walking can burn off the sugar...so just be prepared the have to sit there in case your lab is the same as mine! I hope they let you walk though and get some stuff done. It feels like such a waste to have a free hour and not be able to do anything:/
  • @goldfishcraker @Panaceia the lab for my GTT is literally across the hall from my office and im SO hoping they let me go work for an hour lol. it will be torture to sit in the lab during the workday and not be able to get to my computer haha
  • @morgantu Right? If it's right across the hall I can't imagine them saying no...at least I hope they let you go. That would drive me crazy just sitting there steps away from where I could be getting work done!!!
  • just had a mini panic that today was actually wednesday instead of thursday and i was not as close to the weekend as i thought. I legit had to look at the calendar haha
  • @achanceintime the lab I did my 3 hour at for DS1 had a “non garbage” garbage can next to the real can 🥴 I’m like well this is reassuring. 😂
