Re: Weekly Check-In 12/13

  • EDD/ W+D: 8.19 / 4w3d

Baby is the size of a(n): tardigrade

    Team: blue 💙

Upcoming Appointments: first beta hCG in 8 hours

How are you feeling?: My PIO shots are making me so itchy, I think I’m having a localized allergic reaction. Also so bruised.

Rants/Raves: Just excited to find out if this pregnancy is looking viable

    Questions: none

GTKY- I’m not Christian but we still celebrate Christmas, but I guess more of the “pagan” side of things. My current favorite thing about it is watching my kids take it all in, decorating the tree and opening gifts.

@paytonpedro I love pierogies! We do the Italian version with my dad's side of the family, which is also meatless, but I never tried a pierogi until I was 25. Last year covid Christmas eve with just my husband and kids I made 2/7 fishes and my Polish friends gifted us with some fresh made pierogies and I made them too and it was the best!!

Edited to add picture in spoiler.

  • @wisewitch222 I admittedly wouldn’t eat pierogies when I was little. My parents used to feed me before we would go to my grandmas for Wigilia. Haha. I was around 13/14 when I realized they’re f-ing delicious. My grandma makes all of ours! I always ask her to make extras so I can throw them in the freezer haha. Luckily, my children are much less picky and polish food is a year long staple in our house now that they really enjoy!
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 5 weeks

Baby is the size of a(n): peppercorn

    Team: definitely finding out!

Upcoming Appointments: just scheduled my first appointment for January 4, (8 weeks), and there will be the nurse interview with all the medical history, sonogram, meet with my doctor, and blood work. Excited I get one then because last time I didn't get my first appointment until 10/11 weeks because we were moving and my health insurance in the new city didn't kick in until then, so it was all this extra waiting

How are you feeling?: so far, so good! I'm hoping this keeps up until after Christmas so I can enjoy the fun times

Rants/Raves: the office staff at my ob/gyn office are notoriously unpleasant and difficult, but I just had a very pleasant, seamless experience of scheduling my first appointment for this pregnancy, so that's a rave!

    Questions: none yet

GTKY- What winter holiday(s) do you celebrate, and what is your favorite part? We celebrate Christmas, and, I don't know, I think all of it is my favorite part. I love having the tree up at our house, and I love the songs, and now my kids are big enough to sing along while I play them on the piano and that is really fun. I love how school gets really into Christmas and does the shopping fair for the kids, and seeing my kids be excited about Santa and then all of us exchanging gifts on Christmas morning, church during advent and on Christmas - it's just all pretty great.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 08/04, 6+4!

Baby is the size of a(n): sweet pea! My DD’s prenatal nickname.

Team: not finding out, unless bf decides he wants to, as it’s his first bio-baby.

    Upcoming Appointments: midwives 01/13

How are you feeling?: nauseous all the time, but going to see my Dr today about it and the strange lump in my right boob that appeared week 4.

Rants/Raves: I want to tell my family so badly but I am respecting my bf’s wishes to wait until Christmas to share with only our parents and siblings 😬

GTKY- What winter holiday(s) do you celebrate, and what is your favorite part? My family is Portuguese and we also celebrate on Christmas Eve! My entire one side of the immediate family sleeps over and do a pot luck style meal with desserts and apps and all the trimmings at my Vavó’s home (grandma). There’s over 30 of us now with all the grandkids and great grandkids! My Vavô, who passed away two years ago, was a chef who made the most delicious coconut shrimp, pineapple ham, and roasted chicken. I’m a vegan now, but it’s still special to see some of these make an appearance in his honour. I’m bringing vegan brownies, yum.

My bf’s family celebration will be Christmas Day with his parents and siblings. It’s a smaller gathering (12) and very relaxing. My bf’s SIL announced her pregnancy at Thanksgiving, due in May! I’m so, so excited to do mat leave together as she’s only about an hour away from us.

  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 8/1 so 7w1d

Baby is the size of a(n): dice

    Team: finding out

    Upcoming Appointments: ultrasound tomorrow

How are you feeling?: nausea comes and goes, super moody and heavy (bloated/constipated)

Rants/Raves: really nervous to see if baby is growing

Questions: Anyone else's SO truly getting on their nerves no matter what they do?!

GTKY- What winter holiday(s) do you celebrate, and what is your favorite part?
We're Catholic so we do the whole Christmas thing, including church to appease my mother. My favorite part is seeing my son still believe and get excited as the day comes closer. The big reveal of all the presents Christmas morning is the icing on the cake!

  • @paytonpedro I did talk with an NP from my RE’s office. I have 6 more weeks of it. She suggested Benadryl or hydrocortisone until we knew beta hCG results, and then we would reevaluate based on results. Just got results back and they are at a good level! Good luck at your US, and sorry about the nausea already.

@andrea3o hope that lump is nothing! Please keep us posted.

@returning_bump_member good luck at your US!

    @and_peggy booooo go away bronchitis!
  • @and_peggy I'm sorry you're all sick 😦 It is miserable, and I think makes the first tri symptoms worse. I hope you feel better soon!
  • @returning_bump_member yes. Mh is driving me crazy! But I think it’s me. I’ve been super moody and irritable. What a joy.

@daffodil_shoe oh good thing you’ve got a game plan! And yay for good numbers!!
  • @and_peggy I am at home with the flu, also took off Friday. My daughter had it all. week. long. and it was a whole thing. I totally get how you are feeling and hope it passes very, very quickly!! How much longer are your antibiotics? My DD is back at daycare today, so life goes on. I am nauseous if I am not lying down, so I’m extremely nervous about going back to work tomorrow.

@daffodil_shoe thank you for your kindness 💛 I’m sure it’s just part of being pregnant, as my boobs already barely fit into my everyday bras. I shall update later on.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 6w6d

Baby is the size of a(n): honeybee! Getting so big 🥰

Team: 100% finding out. Do not like surprises lol

Upcoming Appointments: first scan on 12/21!!!! Cannot wait

How are you feeling?: 🤢 everything stinks, my boobs are going to explode, I cannot make it past 8pm, and I am sooooo cranky lol

Rants/Raves: really miss coffee. I know it’s safe to an extent but I’d prefer to wait till second trimester. Same for getting my hair highlighted. We are looking a bit rough lol

Questions: anyone doing any exercises? I had such bad SPD/pgp with my first pregnancy and really trying to avoid this time too, just also struggling to find the energy to work out

GTKY- What winter holiday(s) do you celebrate, and what is your favorite part? We host Christmas, and it truly is my favorite part. We will have almost 40 (fully vaccinated) family members over for the first time since 2019, and it’s really just my happy place. I inherited that from my late mother. She hosted our family for Christmas, and I’m so thrilled to take that over for my husband’s family!

  • @becks105 oh my, I'm only hosting 3 family members and I'm stressed! Cannot even imagine 40! All my sympathies.  :D But since you enjoy it then yay! I have so much to do to make our house presentable. Still a giant mess thanks to boxes and decorations and the children's toys.

@returning_bump_member I have my first appointment tomorrow, too! Just to confirm the pregnancy but I can't wait for the ultrasound. I think it'll show good things.

    EDD / Weeks + Days: 8/7 6w1d

Baby is the size of a(n): blueberry

    Team: Finding out for sure

    Upcoming Appointments: Tomorrow! 12/14

How are you feeling?: nauseous, sore boobs, groggy (I miss coffee)

Rants/Raves: I just want to be in the second trimester, no nausea and lots of cravings. I hate being nauseous and hungry.

    Questions:

GTKY- What winter holiday(s) do you celebrate, and what is your favorite part? Christmas and my favorite part is Christmas morning and seeing my daughters open their presents. I think we need to invent some new traditions. I'm not a baker, so I don't really make cookies, and we don't have any cool cultural traditions.

  • @buffythevampireslayer what did you do for Hanukkah this year and what is your favorite part?
  • @buffythevampireslayer now that I have my first confirmed beta, the nurse is going to send me progesterone in a different compound. I checked, my current is in sesame oil. I eat sesame oil with no side effect, but for some reason my skin does not like it! My clinic is also having me do 3 lab draws (12, 14, and 21d5dt).
  • @becks105 I've been wondering where you've been! Was hoping everything is okay!

@starkette yay for appointments! I can't wait to hear about yours! Any idea when you'll get an ultrasound?

P.s. I feel like I'm the lone person who refuses to give up my coffee! I have 6-8oz of sweetened black coffee and if I don't have it, even I don't want to be around me. 🙃

  • @returning_bump_member I'm also still enjoying my morning coffee! I know in a few weeks I'm not going to be able to stomach it for about a month so I'm savoring it as long as I can.
  • @returning_bump_member and @wisewitch222 I am with you 100%. I only have 1 cup, but it’s nonnegotiable. In my first pregnancy (when I was an overworked graduate student) my midwife told me up to 2 cups daily was fine. I loved her so much.

  • @returning_bump_member I’m still going to have coffee when I have to work night shift. Otherwise I can survive without it. I’m trying to be extra careful since this isn’t my baby.
  • @returning_bump_member ultrasound is tomorrow with my appointment! :) I've had some coffee, less than 8oz, but I'm trying to go without as many days as I can stand it.
  • @returning_bump_member I’m still having coffee each morning. I did cut back from a double espresso latte to a single (we have an espresso machine at home).
  • @wisewitch222 thank you for asking! we celebrated most nights at home with just us, but for two nights we had family over, and made a latke bar (lots of latkes and different toppings to choose) with fried chicken and donuts. It was great! Over winter break we will go visit family out of state.

@daffodil_shoe that’s great, I didn’t know you could do that! I hope you have better luck with that kind. I haven’t been having reactions I just feel like it gets stuck beneath my skin. I can’t wait until that part is over. I asked today if I really needed to go in for the third draw, and they said it was optional, just recommended because I’ve had multiple failed transfers before. I never actually got pregnant those times too so I think the protocol they used for this egg retrieval yielded more competent embryos.
  • @buffythevampireslayer are you massaging the injection site right after? If you’re getting deep lumps, it’s not spreading out enough
  • @buffythevampireslayer Latke bar sounds amazing! Mmmmmm!!! (I say, fully aware that some of you can't handle food right now and I'll be right there with you in probably 2-3 weeks)
  • @daffodil_shoe I am, but maybe not for long enough. I’ll keep working on it.
  • @returning_bump_member I am also still having my black coffee every morning! ☕️
  • @returning_bump_member I know. I took a few days off of posting and checking. I was sooo exhausted and not feeling well. Last week always absolute chaos.

@starkette my husband’s mom comes from a family of 10! 7 surviving. Lots of cousins. It’s a good time! I don’t cook—I just cater in pizza, mostaccioli, and Italian beef/sausage! My husband took the week off so he’ll help me get the house set up.
  • @returning_bump_member several other people have said this, but I'm 100% still having my daily cup of coffee. I used to drink 24oz of coffee per day, so cutting back to one cup is good for me lol!

    EDD / Weeks + Days: 8/7, 6w2d

Baby is the size of a(n): Sweet pea

How are you feeling?: Nauseous, sore boobs, etc.

Rants/Raves: I got my lab results back. I'm within range for both progesterone and HGC for where I should be at. FX the follow up shows a normal increase.

    Questions: Nope

GTKY- What winter holiday(s) do you celebrate, and what is your favorite part? We celebrate Christmas. My favorite part is watching my son open presents. His level of excitement over Christmas makes the holidays so special.

  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 8/20/22 / 4+3

Baby is the size of a(n): poppyseed

    Team: finding out!

Upcoming Appointments: today was my first appointment with my midwife to check nfiem the pregnancy and do blood draws. Ultrasound on 1/11 at 8+3

How are you feeling?: Ok today, generally uncomfortable in the pelvic region and I'm tired. Boobs are sore and I'm daydreaming about a nap later

Rants/Raves: I really liked the midwife I met with and the exam went well and she said things are looking good. On the other side I have to get a root canal tomorrow

    Questions: nope!

GTKY- What winter holiday(s) do you celebrate, and what is your favorite part? We celebrate Christmas but it's really more of a Yule celebration for just the two of us. In my home town everyone puts up luminarias in the winter so I'm excited to go see them when we go visit. There's this old mission church that goes nuts with them and it's gorgeous
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 8.24.22 4w1d

Baby is the size of a(n): poppy seed

Team: 99.99% sure green, which is what we did with our daughter in 2019

Upcoming Appointments: did betas today, hoping because i went bright and early to maybe have the results later today? first OB appt 1.20.22

How are you feeling?: nervous, i had a CP in Sept

Rants/Raves: back in the office after being off for Fri-Tues, wild that there are essentially two weeks left in the year.

    Questions: natm

GTKY- What winter holiday(s) do you celebrate, and what is your favorite part? Christmas, my daughter's birthday is Christmas eve, so that is very magical. love being able to see family.

  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 8/15, 5w2d

Baby is the size of a(n): lentil

    Team: finding out

Upcoming Appointments: Jan 4th, slowly getting closer!

How are you feeling?: Alright, tired mostly

Rants/Raves: DH is away on a several day trip so it's just me and my two toddlers. I haven't been taking as good care of myself as I should and I'm so tired... He's coming home tomorrow night, maybe in time for bedtime maybe not.

Questions: what is team green in terms of finding out? Is it waiting until birth? Just curious

GTKY- What winter holiday(s) do you celebrate, and what is your favorite part? Chanukah. My favorite part is going for a night walk with my family to spot all the lit up menorot in the windows. My toddlers loved it :) We also enjoy spotting the beautiful holiday lights as they go up, and my almost next door neighbor's multitude of blow-up lawn decorations!

@wisewitch222 yay for courteous and easy to work with office staff!

@andrea3o that family gathering sounds amazing! I have very fond memories of the huge family gatherings we used to have at my grandparents' house for Passover.

@returning_bump_member not right now, but I had a few days about a week or so ago when I was just crying or very irritated/frustrated with DH constantly.

@and_peggy caring for sick kids while sick is terrible. I hope you all feel better soon!

@becks105 I've been trying to do prenatal yoga videos, and I feel great when I do, but I've been too tired for the last couple of days to do it. 40 people! That sounds amazing (but I would also be extremely stressed if I were hosting omg, even doing takeout), enjoy!

@buffythevampireslayer latke bar sounds so fun! I bought latkes from Trader Joe's this year 🤷🏻 although they're actually pretty good.

  • @geshem hey due date and first appointment buddy!
  • @geshem yup team green is waiting until birth.  Hopefully you get through to tomorrow night ok and then can get some rest!
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 7ish weeks. I think I’m due around 8/1-8/3

Baby is the size of a(n):

    Team: Green!

Upcoming Appointments: I won’t have an appointment with my midwife til late January, but a local pregnancy center was offering free ultrasounds because their technician needed training hours, so I’m going to do that tomorrow!

How are you feeling?: yucky. 🤢

Rants/Raves: I would love to tell my kiddos, especially my 8&10yr old why I’m laying on the couch all day. Christmas Day would be a great time to tell them. But telling my kids would mean telling everyone because I don’t think my 4&5yr old would be able to keep quiet. This is baby #6 for us, and most people are excited for you after #4, and I’m not ready to hear peoples opinions.

    Questions:

GTKY- What winter holiday(s) do you celebrate, and what is your favorite part?

Christmas is big in our house. My favorite part is doing all the kids favorite traditions. We make a big Christmas bucket list of their favorite things, and movies, and cookies and we check it off as the season goes. It’s super fun.

  • @ereyln608 We are thinking of telling our family at Christmas too, but my small kids have very big mouths and I know they'll tell everyone they know lol.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days:  8/25, 4 weeks.

Baby is the size of a(n): poppy seed

Team: will be finding out, hoping for a boy but would be thrilled with another girl

Upcoming Appointments: waiting to hear back from the dr for a follow up beta, and then ultrasound in a few weeks.

How are you feeling?: Good, anxious, tired, excited.

    Rants/Raves:

    Questions:

GTKY- What winter holiday(s) do you celebrate, and what is your favorite part? Christmas, and it's all my favorite. Watching our daughter experience things either for the first time or remember them from last year and get so excited is just so cool. I love watching all the classic movies and getting together with our families, even though it can be stressful!
