Has anyone else seen these damn millenial personality trait things? I haven't opened randoms for a week so sorry if this was covered last week. I'm a cuspy millenial (1985 birth) and some of these are so 100% me, lol. Like the two following:
@SmashJam LOL I'm an old millennial too (1983) so these are pretty accurate.
Also wanted to carry on the conversation from last week about being a Grinch or not- my husband has really come out of the Grinch territory in the last couple years- we even have full on lights outside! Like a big Christmas tree light thing I found on Amazon and a blow up Santa. After he put them up he kept going outside to admire his work. LOL
@SmashJam lol I feel personally attacked by the everything but the bagel and garlic ones.
@shlecks lol @ your husband admiring his work. Hopefully MH becomes less of a grinch after baby comes. He is obsessed with decorating the tree (he pushed so hard for a tree this year even though I wasn't really feeling it) but it's like pulling teeth to get him to do any outdoor lights
Also looking for an unputdownable book. I'm in a slump and it's unacceptable. I usually read fantasy, middle grades, ya or adult, or literary fiction in the same age groups, but I do not have the brain strength at the moment for world building and character development and big life problems. Anybody have suggestions?
@SmashJam I just finished Firefly Lane and cried at the end! I loved it. Anything by Kristin Hannah (my favorite has been the Great Alone). “Sunflower Sisters” by Martha Hall Kelly, “The House in the Cerulean Sea” by TJ Klune, and “American Dirt” by Jeanine Cummins were others I’ve read this year that I absolutely loved.
Our dog just threw up her breakfast immediately after eating for the second morning in a row. Only happens in the mornings and of course on the carpet when I am home alone so I am just on cleanup duty every morning...
@SmashJam I really got into the Bridgerton series after watching the Netflix show. They are super steamy but easy and entertaining. I really enjoyed reading beyond where the show takes you.
@Blondesweety444 Ooooo this series is on my list! The Netflix show had me swooning. Have you seen Poldark on Masterpiece, or Outlander on Starz? The shows are amazing but the books are 😍
@fameonmain2 Seriously, WHAT IS IT about animals barfing on carpets?? My cat will be in the kitchen nowhere near carpet and then start barfing and dash to a throw rug or a carpeted room. Like… Is it for comfort so he can throw up someplace that feels nice on his feet? Or is he just a huge asshole?
@aloha_mama I love Kristin Hannah! The Nightingale is one of my favorites! Also in the middle of The Great Alone and I'm a fan so far.
@SmashJam luckily I'm in a bookclub so I read a book a month but some months are a struggle. I loved Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine and Behold the Dreamers. The Silent Patient was pretty crazy.
@fameonmain2@aloha_mama Our cat is no different— I am positive that she purposely finds something “nice” to vomit on. Tablecloths, bags, papers on the table, and most recently, the white lace cover under our Christmas village 🤦🏽♀️
@robbenson I have heard good things about The Silent Patient! And @Blondesweety444 Bridgerton was my first thought because I also loved that show but I can't find a library near me with the first one in. I may have to bite the bullet and buy it. @aloha_mama I have the Great Alone, I should dive in to that one next.
In the end, my librarian recommended The Guest List, which seems like its going to be murder mystery unputdownable as well as trash romance. She said a patron told her it kept her up at night, lol. So far so good!
@aloha_mama@minnie_yoga_mama glad I’m not alone in this!! Our cat has now graduated to puking in the basement? Which is nice when I see it but sometimes by the time I see it it’s been weeks… 🙈
@rbflei you had me laughing out loud with the throwing up on the couch exclusively! I keep joking that I am ready for a pukey kid with all of the clean up I’m doing
Also, guess this is an unpopular opinion but I did NOT like the Bridgerton book series. I couldn’t get through the first one (but I loved the show). @smashjam when you’re ready for a little bit of YA world-building I loved The Grace Year, I think I finished it in 2 sittings.
@aloha_mama Poldark is THE best! The Masterpiece series and the books— although I think I dropped off reading a some point because the next book was checked out at my library for months on end and I started something else. 🙈
@SmashJam I read The Guest List earlier this year and another of her novels, The Hunting Party. I like her style, but I did find myself guessing the end about half way/ three quarters through The Guest List. Still enjoyable! I can't wait to hear your review.

@SmashJam I’ve put my kindle in airplane mode and the library book stays in my kindle library. Maybe try that next time? (It does get retuned officially, but I still have access since the kindle didn’t sync)

We made a Facebook announcement over the weekend. I really didn't want to announce on social media, ever, so I kept putting it off, but it's something my husband really wanted so we finally did it. I think it turned out cute.
Now I keep getting messages about our baby "boy" though.
Whew, we spent about an hour dealing with tornadoes in our area in the middle of the night last night! We were in the basement for about 45 minutes. Thankfully we're okay, we just lost power and it has yet to come back on. My husband and I work on Saturdays and everything is okay at work, power's on, so fingers crossed the power is back on at home at the end of the day!
Just returned from a lovely overnight at the hospital for bleeding. All looks well and it was determined that I have a friable cervix. I scored myself a sweet two weeks on bed rest right smack dab in the middle of Christmas holiday prep and party season. I am the worst possible for candidate for any type of rest.
@Ivorytower2 How scary! I hope you’re able to keep your sanity during bed rest. I’m such a control freak that I feel like I would be a terrible patient, too!
@schlecks so glad you only lost power and hope it's back now! @Ivorytower2 I would be the worst at bedrest as well-ive often wondered if that was prescribed to me if I could get around it by wheelchairing lol. Hope it goes quick for you!
Eta: @Avrilmai I did NOT guess the first reveal in The Guest List, but after the first one was able to guess most of the last surprises. I'm a little embarrassed that I missed the first!
Sidenote: I should not be allowed on social media during Christmas anymore!! I just impulse bought two more things for the kids that I certainly don't need for Xmas.
@dinomeetsjedi the announcement is adorable!! We are not announcing on Social media either. I guess we will announce him when he is here tho.
@shlecks I’m glad you are ok, that storm looked scary.
@SmashJam I have the same problem!! Buy all the things!! I’m in a couple of the deal Amazon groups on FB and I keep buying stuff for the girls for Christmas. They are getting way more than they normally do. *facepalm*
I swear this baby can read my thoughts. Every single time I start thinking “man he’s been really quiet today, I hope everything is ok” he immediately throws a mosh pit disco party. I swear, it’s like extra punishment for even thinking he’s been quiet. Great reassurance, but it’s a little over the top sometimes. 🙄

@shlecks glad you're okay! The tornados were awful for a lot of people. It must have been scary! Fingers crossed your power is back on soon.
@Ivorytower2 Sorry to hear about the bleeding! Take the time to eat extra bon bons while relaxing haha
@Ivorytower2 so sorry that happened. Hope bedrest clears it all up and you are in better shape soon.

@Ivorytower2 glad everything is okay but oh boy what a tough time to be in bed rest. I would drive myself crazy too. Hopefully it passes by quickly!!
