2nd trimester weekly appts with twins

First pregnancy and I’m having twins! Super excited to be out of the first trimester. I had a 13 week check today and the dr now wants to see me every week from 16 weeks on for a cervical length check and to make sure they’re growing at the same rate. Is this normal? Anyone else have appts this often this early with no known issues? As much as I want to see my babies as much as possible I didn’t think I would be at the dr this often already.

Re: 2nd trimester weekly appts with twins

  • Hi @nucrew_! Currently 23 weeks with twins and still doing appts every four weeks, although I suspect that’s about to move to every two weeks. I’ve already had 3 vaginal births so that may be why I’m not being monitored as closely, but I’d ask if something showed up on previous scans that created cause for concern.

  • I'm 41y-old, 11 weeks, IVF pregnancy with twins, all that means I'm seeig a group of High-Risk Pregnancy specialists/team.
Even with all that, the plan is to follow up every 4 weeks until 20 weeks, then start on evry 2 weeks.
That's the plan if everything continues to go well. they might change it if needed. but for now
    every 4 weeks,
starting week 20: every 2 weeks
    Starting week 30: every week
  • First of all, congratulations on your twins! That’s so exciting! It’s totally understandable to feel surprised by the frequent doctor visits, but it's great that your doctor is being proactive in monitoring your pregnancy, especially with twins. I've heard that some doctors schedule regular cervical length checks and growth monitoring to ensure both babies are progressing well. While it might feel like a lot, it’s a good way to catch any potential issues early.
