Re: All trimesters check-in, week of 11/16

  • Hi ladies. Figured I'd pop in and help try to bring this board back to life. You might not recognize me unless you lurked into the TTGP board but I did participate on the IF board a few years ago when we were doing IUIs and IVF.

    How far along/EDD? 6w1d today / July 14

    How are you feeling this week? I've been in covid quarantine with a really mild case which has been more stressful than anything since the OB refused to see me for lab work and an ultrasound at the request of my RI. Yet my friend, also pregnant, goes to the same practice, and feels even worse from covid right now got seen for an ultrasound in isolation. I basically had a f*ck you attitude with the nurse on the phone back on Tuesday. Didn't have the time with work to constantly pester them that they should see me even though I'm really early in this pregnancy. Apparently my body attacking embryos means nothing to them! *sigh*

    Rants/Raves? Questions? Rant - see above. Rave - my covid quarantine ends after Saturday. Or maybe I can start going out on Saturday? I was confused how my HR laid it out as I would have counted day 1 as the day after my symptoms started (just like you do with DPO and DPT!) since the rule is 10 days since symptoms started.

    Upcoming appointments? I'm finally being seen for an ultrasound to make sure growth is good next week Tuesday. I'm also having a bunch of bloodwork done on Monday to see if there are additional meds I'll need to maintain this pregnancy

    GTKY: Where are you from? I currently reside in WI :)

  • congrats @inthewoods23  I'm so happy to see you back here!  I also agree with you re:quarantine -- first full 24 hours of symptoms gets you to day 1; you don't start day 1 when the symptoms start.

    and of course you, @tulips29 I remember you from your last little one :smile:

    I'm in the 4th trimester, does that count? Baby girl will be a week old tomorrow. We just got home a few days ago! I might start a PAIF Graduates thread again.

    @Tulips29 I love NYC!

    @mbradfo2 Congratulations!

    • Upcoming appointments? Had an appointment on Wed. First time seeing my OB after graduating from the fertility clinic. My blood pressure was high but think that was because I get anxious before each appointment.

  • @JWatt5
    I think doing the IVF/transfer really makes everything seem to go on FOREVER. I remember with DD telling my OB at about the same stage (28-30 weeks) that when he acts like I'm impatient wanting to talk about birth plans/etc -- I've been doing this whole thing much longer than 28 weeks. Especially with doing a retrieval and transfer back to back. I started my stims for DD1 in June and she was born at the end of the following March. That's 10 months and she was 5 weeks early!!! Same feeling this time around as well. I feel like doing IVF or transfers tacks on another "pre-trimester" and you're really just DONE by the time you hit the normal 3rd trimester.

    I got out of the facebook habit for a bit so I'll try to pop on at some point :smile:

  • @mbradfo2 - it’s all been long. Today is actually a year ago today that I started Stims for this little guy!! Crazy he was conceived a year ago - retrieval feels like it was two years ago with all that’s happened since then. I gave the ladies on the Facebook group a little update so they know you’re ok - just last week we did an update thread after nothing for a long time.

    @inthewoods23 - that’s super stressful. My son had COViD - we found out a few days after moving and a month before my transfer - isolation is awful. Glad it’s been a mild case for you. Really hope all goes well for your ultrasound and things start returning to normal!

    t@Tulips29 - the first trimester anxiety is awful. This time around I was getting panic attacks out of to nowhere. I defiantly felt better after 14 weeks. It kicked back in for a bit around 22 weeks just hoping to make it to viability milestones and has subsided again. This is the last one for us, I’m so excited to just be done with this infertility journey.

    It’s crazy we’re all still in here. I know all these names from over the last 5-6 years.

  • Thanks for the welcome ladies!

    @Tulips29 9 weeks does seem pretty early to stop progesterone. Have they been keeping track of it this whole time?

    @JWatt5 I'd take only 6 months too. Especially when you consider that month 1 is the TTC part! Easy peasy

    @romeoandjuliet146 man I used to always have either a heart rate or BP that was higher than normal going to doctor's appointments. I hate adulting lol

    I broke my quarantine a day/2 days early yesterday 😬 but I only quickly ran to the store for some soda and to pick up pizzas. I masked up like a good girl and used hand sanitizer. I never did go get a second covid test to see if I'm actually negative. It's weird that the guideline is 10 days of quarantine and says nothing about also having a negative test.

  • @inthewoods23 - they base it on days now because they’ve been able to determine the number of days you’d be contagious. When Parker had COVID he continued to test positive for over a month. I remember seeing so many here in Canada not being able to go back to work or out of isolation for months because they weren’t testing negative at the beginning of the pandemic.

  • @JWatt5 I definitely remember that being one of the company policies back then. I think our policy was 2 (or 3?) negative tests in a row before you could return to work. I heard there was one guy that was out for like a month because he was out sick with covid for however long, test negative, and then the next one would be positive. I can't remember how often he was getting tested.

  • @inthewoods23

    I think some of the guidelines initially were in a constant state of re-write. I remember when one of our nurses got covid in april and we were studying the CDC/OSHA website to see the guidance on when to tell them to return to work -- it was often conflicted and confusing.  I do believe the 10 day thing was mentioned that early on because I remember some management being a little nervous to let someone come back to work without a negative covid test (esp. because we see kids birth to late teens and would feel awful if a 1 week old baby got sick or something).

    Officially from the CDC (so US only) the explanation for the day 10 no test rule:
    • For patients with mild-to-moderate COVID-19, replication-competent virus has not been recovered after 10 days following symptom onset for most patients.(8, 9, 20- 24) Outliers exist; in one case report, an adult with mild illness provided specimens that yielded replication-competent virus for up to 18 days after symptom onset.(25)
