Re: October/November Symptoms

  • @creativesoul63 hope you feel better. It’s not been too bad for me today, thankfully!

@runnergirl2018, if you and your doctor are comfortable with this- benedryl, caffeine, and Tylenol have worked for me. Lay down in a dark room and I like to put a cold wash cloth on my head. Pregnancy headaches are the worst! Hope you feel better.
  • @L1C4gal @runnergirl2018 thank you! It's been a struggle all day today, so I took your advice. It was nice to have relief for a few hours, but it's back again. I'll have to figure out a routine that works for me.

  • @runnergirl2018 My doctor said I can take Tylenol. There is a recent study from 2020 that says it’s “dangerous to take Tylenol,” my OB said it’s a terrible and problematic study because there isn’t enough information and they tested women who took the max amount of Tylenol everyday for months of their pregnancy. She also recommended Excedrin tension Headache (not migraine) and said if I do get migraines I can take my sumatriptan if needed. I find that Tylenol and a nap usually help knocked out headaches quickest for me. Usually with a small coffee. (Although I can can’t tolerate the taste of coffee anymore) But when the snow comes, that’s when my migraines happen ugh.

  • @elmann1 I am prescribed sumatriptan too when not pregnant for migraines. Did your doctor mention any studies that had been done for that or anything where it’s ok? Only asking because I would love to be able to mention that to my doctor and try to get the green light for it. In my past pregnancies, she’s told me not to take it (but that was almost 2 years ago). For me, these other remedies work but can take hours to make it go away and my migraine medicine can make me better in about an hour. Plus, if I have to call in for a migraine, my boss will know something is up and I’m not ready to share with work that I’m pregnant.

  • @sailorchibimoon I’m sorry you’ve been so nauseous lately. I never liked to let it out. Instead I would usually just start munching on something. A lot of people go the saltine crackers route. Personally I like plain tortilla chips. I keep a baggie of them in my purse and just keep munching on them until the feeling passes.

@runnergirl2018 I suffer from headaches quite often. When I was KU with DS, I quit drinking coffee when I got pregnant. But by the time I hit the 2nd trimester I was getting daily headaches. My OB suggested drinking a cup of coffee in the morning (just 1 cup), and seeing if that would help. She said the medication that she would have prescribed me would have caffeine in it anyways. So I figured I’d rather drink a cup of coffee than take a pill every day. So that’s what I did and whenever anyone would ask me about it I would just tell them it was doctors orders lol. If I ended up waiting to see if I would get a headache before drinking my coffee, it would almost not even touch it. So I just started my day out with a cup of coffee regardless. I’m going to try to hold off on drinking caffeine again this time, but if my headaches return in the 2nd trimester then I’ll be doing the same thing.

  • The 9 year old has a cold. We're staying away from her like she has the plague. 😂 I really don't want to get sick, especially because coughing and sneezing makes me gag and sometimes even throw up a little. I've never had this from coughing and sneezing, it's the weirdest thing.
  • 5w2d and herrrrre comes the insomnia/ restless legs and *evening* sickness. Blehh 😒 I have some Unisom but I guess I need to pick up some b6.
  • Today is definitely the worst I've felt the whole time. Started off with a headache I can't shake. Then the bloating/cramping/indigestion started. Couple that with the nausea and I'm struggling. How am I going to make it until July 😭😂

  • Have my first ultrasound on Monday but I think I’m about 8w2d. Pretty much all food is unappealing to me, especially if it’s home cooked, which is so unusual for me because I’ve always been a self proclaimed foodie. I get extremely hungry and nauseous 4 hours (like clockwork) after a meal but even then, nothing sounds good. Minty gum has helped a bit to curb the constant nausea. This is ROUGH 😅
  • @sunshineandlemons Yes! My doctor and neurologist both told me it’s totally fine for me to take the sumatriptan while pregnant. My OB was very relaxed about it and said “you can absolutely take it” with no hesitation. my neurologist gave me an abstract about why it’s safe during pregnancy. You can also Google a ton of them, they’re helpful. He said that there’s no correlation to birth defects or miscarriages in large studies. My neurologist is a renowned researcher in migraine treatment here in my city. I’ve relied on him so much for my migraines and headaches!

  • @jellie603 it’s common to feel much better by the second tri! With our son, I was sick as a dog weeks 6-13 and then week 14 it was like someone turned a switch and I felt great right up until delivery.  I’m hoping for a similar outcome this time, 9 weeks today and feeling like garbage lol
  • @Chanyrae77 ugh hopefully that second tri switch flips for you right away! With my first, I really don't remember feeling bad really at all so I am not used to it this time around haha.
  • The nausea today is the worst it has been :( I am sitting in my classroom slowly munching on crackers trying to keep it at bay. Hopefully it settles by the end of my planning period. I am SO thankful I switched to high school today - I can give them free time to catch up on assignments while I stay planted at my desk during waves of nausea - can't imagine going through this in elementary (which I taught last year). Wishing everyone a good, symptom free day because this is rough!!
  • @elmann1 thank you!  I’m going to look for some to share with my doctor. She’s prescribed my Tylenol with codeine in the past and it makes me so nervous to take it because my husband is allergic to it (and obv the baby is half him). Plus, for me, it doesn’t really provide any more relief than Tylenol. Hopefully, if I can give her some abstracts to study, then maybe she’ll agree.

  • @tuxielove93 I didn't know that about the placenta, thank you for the info!
  • I’m 7 weeks and feeling carsick every second of the day. I dont want to eat anything although I know it’ll help. I went to the store and bought Gatorade and orange juice and bread and crackers. How nutritious. And ORANGES. I’m obsessed.
    stardustskieselmann1
  • @tuxielove93 I am so glad to read that fact! I am 7 weeks and feeling the worst, so knowing it might slightly improve will get me through this week.

@quelinda99 I am absolutely living on cheese and crackers and clementines! In some moments they are literally all I can manage. The constant nausea is awful, I hope we are both feeling better soon!

  • I work at a grocery store and when I walked by the seafood section I gagged so much! 🤢 I've never liked seafood but clearly now the smell is too much for my pregnant self!
    melanier26
  • @zinnia19 I used to love eating salmon so much but then I got KU with DS I couldn't stand it! It's never been the same since. But just your description of the seafood section makes me want to gag.

I woke up middle of the night with sudden cramps and backache, not sure if indigestion contributed to cramps. Had a bit of a scare/flashback to my previous pregnancy (my first one) which was a *TW* miscarriage. Last time I woke up around 4am to crazy cramps (this happened for two nights, a week apart). The second time this happened, it was followed by lots of blood. **End TW**
This morning I checked, no blood, so that’s a good sign. I also changed my sleeping position a bit after I felt the pain. Have any of you experienced this before - waking up in the middle of the night to cramps and backache? How did you deal with it? I’m currently at the end of Week 6.
  • I have been going between being super hungry and then nothing sounding good. And unfortunately when I am super hungry and eat my stomach gets super full really fast and I just feel uncomfortable for hours.

Also, the heart burn. Omg. I have been eating tums sparingly but when I was pregnant with DD the only thing that helped was milk which I don’t really drink much anymore.

  • @sacha0088 The other evening I had some mild back cramps, which instantly made me worry bc I get back cramps with my period. They went away after a couple of hours. I’ve been super gassy so I’m thinking it’s just causing lots of pressure everywhere. Hopefully that’s all yours is

  • @bearsandbeets7 OMG same!
it’s a never ending cycle. Starving and nauseous, nothing sounds good to eat, then full and uncomfortable... Tums are life

Also, I now have dry mouth so everything tastes weird. I need some sugar free candy, anyone have good recommendations?
  • @bearsandbeets7 totally same. So nauseous, no appetite. Then I get a second of relief and I’m eating whatever I can that sounds good so that hopefully a full stomach will keep the nausea away. I’m not even enjoying anything! And then I sit here feeling like I could regurgitate at the slightest burp. Woof

@sacha0088 i haven’t had this in about a week or so but earlier I was having a lot of cramping that I believe was gas pain. I haven’t been in but I haven’t had any spotting or bleeding so I’m choosing to believe it’s fine for now.
