    FTM/STM/TTM+: TTM

Upcoming Appointments: in 2 weeks for a standard urine/Doppler appt at 16weeks

How are you feeling?: Nausea is better, still queasy but much more tolerable. Energy is back, baby!

Rants/Raves: looking forward to joining y’all officially in the second trimester, but I am starting to feel better overall.
I freaked out a bit today because my belly looked smaller than last week, I appeared 5 months pregnant on Saturday and today it seems so small. I am sure the bloat is down but still scary!

  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: April 28, 11+3

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM, DD6

    Upcoming Appointments: The 28th for a check-in

How are you feeling?: So. Much. Better. Like a human being again. I am so thankful. The fatigue is still there in full force but I’m able to eat more, although I still have some food aversions there.

Rants/Raves: With DD6 I took weekly photos holding that week’s fruit depending on how big she was. But this time I’m doing “cravings” and it’s been really fun so far! This week was a donut hole so we took a trip to a local donut place and went crazy.

    Questions: Not really.
  • Its so nice to hear everyone saying they are generally doing better. For a while there we were all sick as a dog! Hopefully most have hit the peak of sickness!

@dinomeetsjedi good luck on your wedding!! Hopefully the weather is beautiful for you! This week is gunna be cold!!
  • @shlecks I'm curious what supplements? These headaches are getting annoying!
  • @SmashJam Let me snap a pic of what she gave me and I'll attach it next.

  • @doxiemoxie212 that’s kind of freaky about your DH, I hope you get answers!

@jessabelle05 it is overwhelming. I really don’t *need* much this time, and generally know what’s worked for my family in the past - but it’s still overwhelming when I realize how intensely more options there are now than the last time(s) I researched. Also, companies do it on purpose.

@monstera13 what??? Noooo. I’ve always held out the belief that girls must be easier to name - because I’ve never gotten to name one 😂
  • @bluecampanula haha really?? DS3’s name came to us the same day we found out he was a boy. And we had at least one, possibly two really good boy names this time around. But neither time have we found a great girl’s name.
  • @monstera13 eh, I guess it’s still hard because there are two people who still have to agree - and I’m always surprised when DH doesn’t have the exact name tastes as me 😆 - I’ve just always thought there was a bigger range of what works for girls than boys.
  • Well, yes and no. He feels fine outside of extreme nausea at dinner time. Like, he went on the Peloton for 45 min before dinner 2 of the 3 days, and he felt fine, and even snacked before dinner and felt fine. But really bad nausea with dinner. And our meals have been completely different each night, so there's no common food denominator, and we're veg so our meals are pretty easy on the stomach - last night was brown rice, zucchini and tofu. Not exactly rich and overwhelming or something. It's so so so weird. Doctor wants to run some labs but was pretty baffled.
  • @doxiemoxie212  Could it be connected to the exercise since twice it was right after?

@dinomeetsjedi CONGRATULATIONS! Are you honeymooning after?

@jessabelle05 That sounds like an incredible amount of stress! I hope the move goes smoothly. Did they straighten out the blood draw? If you’ve decided where you want to register for ahead and do it and just try to put a few things on at a time. I liked Amazon’s registry because it suggested categories so you know what types of things you should consider (but you don’t have to get everything they suggest of course). Also there’s the big stuff like crib (you mostly can’t go wrong with what you pick), mattress, stroller, car seat, and then beyond that it’s a lot of smaller things that come largely down to matters of taste and preference).

    EDD/ Weeks + Days: 4/23/ 12w3d

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Upcoming Appointments: One yesterday, first MFM appt Thursday.

How are you feeling?: Tired! Hoping to not wake up early and be stuck awake again tonight. I wake up to pee, then I’m hungry, then I’m just awake for like two hours and sooo tired when DS2 wakes up.

Rants/Raves: I had a prenatal massage today which was so nice. My massage therapist is also pregnant so we chatted pregnancy and children stuff. My mom came for a couple days so she was able to stay with DS2. Excited to see the babies again later this week and much less anxious than usual because we just saw them. I how I have a good experience with the MFM practice, they’re apparently the only show in town so I’m stuck if not.

    Questions:

  • @zamoraspin2 I don't think so because it's now been 4 nights in a row, and he's had the nausea each night at the same time, and he only exercised 2 of the 4 nights.
  • @dinomeetsjedi That sounds awesome! Have a wonderful wedding!
  • @jessabelle05 the registry process can be overwhelming. my advice, if you can, go to a store to look at/touch/experience things. I second what @zamoraspin2 said about the Amazon registry. it breaks it down into categories. Also places like Buy Buy Baby can give you a paper check list, but honestly you don't need everything on those lists. You can also start a registry and keep it private so you can adjust/alter as you go.

    @dinomeetsjedi congratulations!

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 4/3, 15+4

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Upcoming Appointments: end of the month for OB, MFM next month

How are you feeling?: exhausted. I'm back to being able to tolerate coffee so that's not the issue.

Rants/Raves: kind of annoyed at my OB's nurse. They have to refer you for your initial MFM appt. Dr. said she wanted it to be around 16-18 wks to check for placental placement for concern about a previa. RN called me w/an appt date that would put me at 21+3. They did move it up, but not to that 16-18 wk window.

    Questions:

    TTC#1 10/2016
TTC/IF:included medicated cycles, IUIs and 2 rounds of IVF with 1 embryo each.
    BFP finally in 12/2018

    TTC#2 06/2021

@Avrilmai I just went through something similar with my OB and MFM. MFM scheduling me wayyy far out for an appt that my OB told me to get sooner. I called MFM and they told me to call my OB and have them call MFM directly. They did that and MFM called me back with an earlier appointment but I wanted it even sooner so I just complained until they moved it. Sucks, but my DD7 has had health issues her whole life so I have just learned to really be a squeaky wheel with medial stuff and take things into my own hands. I have always had success when pushing back on schedulers, insurance co’s, even doctors, etc.

It kind of stinks to feel that that, but at the end of the day, you have to kind of rely on yourself!

@robbenson sorry you are going through that. I have not been through anything similar, but I am high risk for other reasons. It’s stressful, but sort of better knowing that someone is keeping a close eye on you and baby.

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 13+5

    FTM/STM/TTM+: TTM

Upcoming Appointments: Waiting on MFM appt

How are you feeling?: I am still feeling nauseas especially at night which sucks a fat one! I looked back in my pictures and with my last DD I was at Disneyland at 15 weeks so I must have been feeling good by then. Hopefully only one more week of the sickness.

Rants/Raves:  My insurance is crappy. My dating ultrasound was $200 and my insurance only paid $80 and billed me $120. My deductible is low, or was low until my company announced we are moving to even crappier insurance plan next month with higher deductibles and out of pocket max. How is everything related to pregnancy not just covered 100% by insurance? It’s infuriating.

    Questions: none at the mo

  • @Ivorytower2 insurance is the worst. Why pay so much for it just to still owe every time you need a doctor.  It's such a confusing mess and somehow you are supposed to know how it all works.
  • @Ivorytower2 what's also insane is just trying to figure out how much things would cost. Impossible to get a straight answer. Like, make sure you budget properly! But only with guesswork!
  • @Ivorytower2 I am frustrated beyond belief with our own insurance. We are paying $2,500 for prenatal visits/delivery services as a lump sum to the OB practice for the whole pregnancy, plus $800 to the hospital for staying in a room there (if it’s not a c-section— that’ll be more), plus any ultrasounds and labs are separate, which we’ve found is very expensive!!! For example, our NIPT cost us $400, and I just got a bill yesterday for my initial pregnancy bloodwork (progesterone levels, etc.) for $320! Is anyone else paying prices like this for their pregnancy, or are we paying more than the usual, because we honestly did not anticipate just the healthcare portion to cost this much, and I’m not sure if we can keep affording it! I work full time as a healthcare worker at a hospital and thought I would have at least relatively reasonable insurance to cover this!
  • @doxiemoxie212 We are running into the same issue where we can’t get an answer how much anything will cost, until we get billed afterward! At least they gave us the total OB service cost upfront, but the labs are what are eating our bank account!
  • @minnie_yoga_mama Your costs sound pretty similar to mine.  It definitely sucks.  With my son we had better insurance, so we didn't pay quite as much, but it was still expensive!
    IAmPregnant Ticker
  • @minnie_yoga_mama I would be if I didn't have my employer funded HRA to cover my deductible. Any services that are "diagnostic" and not just given to everyone, but instead are a choice you make, are billed 80/20. So every single ultrasound that I have, with the exception of anatomy because everyone gets that, costs hundreds out of pocket that  my HRA covers. I do, however, have a $1500 gap between my HRA and out of pocket max. So at the end of delivery I will owe $1500 and everything after that is free until I start over in July. I agree, insurance is a joke. I haven't fought them yet for pregnancy, but my HRA has a no reimbursement policy to the insured, so if I cover anything out of pocket they won't give me the money back. My kids ped has some old school billing practices that somehow keep my HRA from covering all services from that office-so anything that's not a well check I end up just paying the 20% because I can't figure out how to get my HRA to pick up the tab for me.
  • Ugh, dealing with insurance is so frustrating. Those costs are so high! Do you all have low premium-high deductible plans? We’re really fortunate in that our premium is pretty expensive but almost all services are fully covered. The only thing I’ve had to pay so far is a specialist copay to my RE for my first ultrasound and my prescription copay for when I was on progesterone.
  • I feel you guys! We actually use a Christian Health Share instead of traditional insurance. Overall it works out because as long as I get things submitted correctly we will be reimbursed 100% for all expenses, but it takes a while for all that to be processed and in the meantime we feel the sting. So far we’ve paid out about $600 for initial visits and labs, then we went ahead and paid the midwife 4200 as a lump sum for all prenatals and the birth because we got a good discount paying up front (and part of our reimbursement schedule is based off of the discounts we’re able to negotiate with providers).

We had a fully funded HSA but I had a miscarriage earlier this year and all my appointments plus the D&C ate it up. ☹️

  • Thanks for the support everyone and glad to know I am not alone in dealing with this. My new out of pocket max with the insurance change is $6k, so I’m pretty much just expecting to pay that between prenatal visits and tests and then the delivery.

I also got screwed with one my of kids because one of the doctors who helped with the delivery or something was not “in network”, so I had to pay an additional $1,500 out of pocket for his “services”. This time I’m definitely going to talk to my hospital to see if there is a way to prevent that.

It should not cost $3,4,8,10k to have a baby! My hospital bill before insurance was over 100k with one of my kids because she had to go to the NICU for two nights.
  • I’m glad to hear I’m not alone in these ridiculous costs and frustrations too. I broke down and actually sobbed this morning after looking at the bill for my blood labs I got yesterday because we never expected to spend this much. I really did not anticipate my insurance to cover so little, and for the costs to be so high. I’m switching to my husband’s plan in January that’s a little better, but I had picked out the basic coverage instead of premium last year October because I wasn’t even thinking about pregnancy or anticipating having to pay all of this! Now I feel so guilty because we’re likely losing actual thousands of dollars until the new year just because of the plan I have. My husband actually asked if anything could be covered under his insurance since it’s just as much his baby as it is mine! 🥲 If only!

Thank you all for tolerating my rant!
