Re: the most recent Peggy, I'm always curious about the questions that conclude with an "I'm going to test tomorrow anyways"  line. Like, why bother posting your question, then? Is the internet hive-mind somehow going to prove that you're pregnant and overrule whatever the HPT result turns out to be in just a few hours?

@optimistgardener YES!  And most of the time they're never back to even reply before the 'tomorrow test' they promise they're taking. 
I think they wanna be like [other site] and just hear a ton of people saying "Your Eggo is Preggo!" and stupid shyte like that to uplift them with happy unicorns of falsehood.

PreMom is wild in its OPK readings sometimes. Top one is yesterday's which the app put at .74, which sounds right to me. Bottom is today's. I had to take pictures I think 7 times before it gave a reasonable reading. Automatic gave me 0s, and the first attempt at Manual gave me 2.47! 🤦‍♀️ It finally settled on a reasonable .36 but jeez!

@fantasyflyte I’ve taken a picture of the same test 5-10 times and got a different number each time. I always get the number they assign. Sometimes it’s just plain wrong.

Is it normal to do bbt when you're not actually TTC? Most people just make note of their periods lol. Thought that was weird.

@inthewoods23 to answer your question re BBT when not TTC... man I wish I had the foresight / knowledge to do that. I'd probably have a squadron of kids by now if I kid. Sigh. That stuff needs to be taught to girls at a younger age.

I don’t think it’s super common, but I wouldn’t say it’s not normal. After all, an entire section of TCOYF (which comes before the TTC section) is about using fertility awareness to avoid pregnancy.

I've booked an appointment to get my hair cut, which always happens on a calendar organized around how long I can go before my ends get really nasty or my hair grows out to the point that it becomes annoying to dry (I don't own a blow-dryer), or I just get annoyed at it all and want it to go away.

Anyway, I'm having my usual panic attack about what I'm going to tell the hair dresser to do with me during my appointment. For some reason I am unable to choose a hair style like a normal person, and instead find myself wanting to overshare my life story to the poor stylist in the hopes that they'll divine what the heck it is that I don't yet know that I want and deliver me a perfect style. Suffice to say, I probably like my haircut 20% of the time, and in the meantime I am sure I annoy the f out of every stylist unlucky enough to find me in their chair.

Does anyone have any insights on having a more functional attitude towards this process? 😂 Is there anyone out there who actually sits down at the hair salon with a clear idea of what they want and the vocabulary to express it? If so I am so impressed with you.

ETA: it turns out that the weekly randoms thread has been my comfort zone thread while benched but wanting to keep my toe in the water around here. i hope you all don't mind.

@optimistgardener I feel that way about how I want my bangs trimmed. Maybe try coming with a picture of what your vision is?

@optimistgardener I am very not into having hairstyles either. The way I go about it is I pin a bunch of pictures on Pinterest for reference, then go into the chair and tell them my routine. E.g. I never style my hair, don't own a blow-dryer, want to be able to put it in a ponytail, don't like layers that are too dramatic, don't like it totally blunt cut, like to have it cut in the middle so I'm not stuck with a particular part, tell them my hair is fine but abundant so I'd like the cut to give it some body so it doesn't just hang there, and then tell them the length I want by showing them where I want the longest layer to be.  I get my hair cut probably twice a year, haha. I'm hoping that my very long list of things I say will help you come up with what you'd like to say! In general, I'm sometimes very thrilled but mostly satisfied with my haircut and rarely disappointed. Good luck!

@optimistgardener I definitely sometimes don’t know what I want done. I go in and just say “make me look pretty”. But my girl is also my friend so she knows what I like already. Maybe just scroll the interwebs and find a couple pictures that you like and tell her “im not quite sure what im looking for but something like this…”

@paturkey i think we're hair sisters. I'm also a fine-but-abundant, like my hair parted usually in the middle but sometimes to one side or the other, like a little bit of layering (because sometimes i get lucky and my hair decides to be curly when the weather conditions are just right) but also usually like to be able to pull my hair back in a ponytail. i feel like i should adopt your post as a good model for how to use my words. and as @paytonpedro and @inthewoods23 so smartly suggested, the internet is full of haircut photos. I guess i just live in fear of those "here's 50 haircuts to make you look younger than your age!" sites... but pinterest is a great idea.

@optimistgardener I struggle with this too. I usually say “long layers, and ‘shape it up’” that way I feel like they will do whatever they think they need to do to make it normal looking and not just hang there, but the results vary

@optimistgardener I have no good words of wisdom here. I am also in the “fine but lots of it” camp. With medium length hair I’m usually in an asymmetric bob to feel a little different. A couple years ago I finally went to a pixie cut, but am in the process of growing it back out. This is all with basically letting my hair stylist of three years do whatever he wants and giving very little direction to him. Unfortunately I found out last week that he’s moving out of state so I will be in the same spot you are in a couple weeks 😭

@pinkkillersheep oh no! sorry to hear you're losing such a trustworthy stylist. i am sure it must have been fun to be able to just hand the decision-making off and have relative confidence that things would turn out ok.
