FFFC 9/24

Time to confess....

I'm so sick of my dogs. I'm not a dog person, I didn't want dogs, somehow I got talked into 2. And they're driving me insane. The shedding, the barking, the accidents, the constant need for attention, I'm sick of walking them twice a day just to get them to behave, OMG THE PULLING, and to top it all off they chewed up one of my favorite rugs that had a lot of sentimental value to me. I'm also so sick of having to find boarding every time I want to go out of town.

Honestly if I didn't have my daughter I'd probably re-home them. I know that makes me a terrible person.

To top it all off, I used to be a dog trainer. I KNOW. I was so burnt out on training other peoples' dogs that I have zero desire to train mine.

But I just wanna be able to go to the bathroom and take a dump without being followed and harassed the entire time.

Re: FFFC 9/24

  • @thebirdgirl86 I completely completely relate. I do love my dog and all, and I know I'd be devastated if something happened to him, but I also wish we wouldn't have got a dog. I am so sick of the mess and constant cleaning, the barking, the money to board him, etc. The straw that broke me was when he bit my 9 month old daughter on her face when she rolled into him. It wasn't horrible but it did break a little skin and left a scar for almost a year. I wanted to rehome him then but my husband insisted we try training (again). We spent several thousand dollars and sent him to an 8 week training course. I will say it did wonders as far as his behavior but just don't think of him the same. Plus I'll never trust him totally around our daughter, so I'm always on edge and have to be totally aware of where he is and what is going on. It just sucks. I am never ever getting another dog. It just isn't worth the stress and hassle for me.

  • @thebirdgirl86 I love my dogs and don't mind all that comes with them... but I get it.  Pet ownership is definitely a lot of work and a super long term commitment.  I've had at least one dog (2 most of the time) since I was 10, of course it was a family dog until I got my own at 19, but I've always had them around.  Fortunately, my whole family loves dogs so we all bring them on family vacations with us and there's typically someone to watch them when we travel without family.

I also have company in the bathroom every. single. time... however, it's a 50/50 split on whether it's a dog or a child  :D

  • Nothing fun here but I DESPISE fireworks. The only time they are acceptable is on the 4th of July and they should end by 10:30pm. Not the day before. Not the day after. ONLY the 4th of July... As I sit here listening to our town shoot off a barrage of fireworks for local football team winning and PRAYING the littles don't wake up. 😑😤

  • @lurvleybunchococonuts I don't hate fireworks, but I hate when they get set off in residential areas.
Canada day at the designated areas, cool, fine.
But people doing it in their backyard, not appreciated.

My dog is terrified for DAYs after, and they wake my son.
Our next door neighbour set some off for a cultural festival, in the early summer, and it hit our house. I was not pleased!!
  • My FFC is that I've been feeling....texted out.

I want to stay connected with friends and family, but sometimes a text will come in, and I'll be too overwhelmed to read it, and it will sit there for 2-3 days before I can bring myself to read and reply.
  • Also, obviously some people have no problem being away from their child(ren) (like SIL who had no issues leaving her 4.5 month old for 10 hours to go to a wedding).

But DS is 2, and I STILL hate being away from him. I miss him when DH takes him and the dog on a walk for an hour..
Work days kill me -especially when I'm scheduled on a truck that means I won't get to see him for 2+ days.

I keep telling myself that eventually, I'll ENJOY time away from him. But right now, I still hate every minute I miss.
    I must be broken.
  • My belated FFFC is that I will still use our boppy lounger for this baby, despite the recall. We never left our son in it asleep, it was more something we used to plop him next to us on the couch. It was just so handy for giving him a nice vantage point to look around. We also used a dock a tot sometimes and imagine we’ll do so again. The lounger and dock a tot were never used for sleeping really, just as a place to put baby when we were in the same room and needed to do something like eat or pump or fold laundry.
  • @rachelredhead similar to yours I still used and will likely use our FP rock n play for this babe even after the recall. I don't leave them in it to sleep or for extended periods of time, but it's a handy spot to plop babe to hang out while I am changing the toddler or pumping or making dinner etc. Babe is very supervised when in it.

  • @rachelredhead yeah I'm keeping my boopy lounger. It's so portable. DD never fell asleep on it so we'll just keep an eye this time.
