I have a random that I completely forgot about until 3 o'clock this morning.
At my Dr visit this week I had an ultrasound and my midwife told me I have a marginal attached cord. Apparently, normal is when the umbilical cord attaches to the center of the placenta, but sometimes it can attach near the edge instead. Has anyone heard of this/have this going on? She made it seem like not a big deal at ALL, but my 3 in the morning Google searches weren't great for anxiety.
@modoodles I actually have! My friend is having twins that share a placenta and one of them has a marginal cord insertion. I know they were concerned about hers, but I think more so because it’s twins. I just listened to a podcast where she had one too, and it ended up not being a big deal for her at all. They just did one extra ultrasound appt to monitor it! Hopefully you’ll just need a bit of extra monitoring!
Thanks @photographerwife! I had never heard of it before so when I remembered I dashed to Google! I hope your friend has a complication free pregnancy/delivery!
@modoodles Google can be the worst sometimes. I agree with @photographerwife and hope it’s just a little extra monitoring.
AFM: I’m heading back to my parents’ house this weekend. My grandma isn’t doing well, so I’m heading back to say my goodbyes. I feel like the bad daughter because my sister’s trip is open ended date-wise, but I’m heading back Thursday so I can make it to my ultrasound on Friday morning. I’m also at a loss as to what to wear to a funeral? My normal clothes are too small, and my maternity stuff is either the wrong season or it doesn’t quite fit yet.
@modoodles oh man google really is the worst! I'm glad it sounds like it isn't too much of a big deal and hope this is the last eventful thing for a while! @makingbacon I'm sorry to hear that goodbyes are hard, especially for family. I had a funeral to go to back in July and my first maternity purchase was actually a dress for that (one that was nursing compatible but that could be dressed up or down). Target has some pretty nice-looking black maternity dresses for fairly cheap, some more casual and some more formal depending on what your needs are
Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts. I made it back in time to say my goodbyes on Monday morning, and my grandma passed away on Monday evening. I’m so thankful she waited for me to see her.
I’m second guessing myself and there is nothing I can do about it now, but I went on the spinning tea cup ride with my daughter and we spun it like crazy. I should be ok, right? Lol I’m typically very careful because it’s our rainbow baby, but I thought maybe I’d come here and ask. Should I call the OB or am I overthinking this?
@alylove11Do you feel okay? I would think the warning to not ride some rides is more the protect against liability. If you’re worried, you can always call the dial a nurse or your doctor, but if you’re feeling okay, I wouldn’t worry too much. I’m more impressed you can spin really fast and not puke. I usually love that ride, but spinning me right now wouldn’t end well...I can’t even ride in the backseat of a car right now lol.
@makingbacon I’m pretty pretty good, my upper left quad hurts slightly, like I pulled a muscle. Lol Nothing in the lower abdominal/pelvic area. I also cleaned 2 houses yesterday for a total of 5 hours, so I could have also pulled it then.
@alylove11 - literally did the same thing at the fair today. Went on a couple small ride and then went on the dang tea cups and felt like dirt! You probably pulled a muscle cleaning more so - but I know I needed to lay down for a bit when we got home haha. Then I carpeted half Parker’s playroom. I don't typically know when to stop. My doc just said to try to listen abd when you start getting out of breath you have to stop

We got some furniture to organize my kids books (I have a ton) and we didn't measure correctly! AH. Luckily we figured something out but rookie mistake!
