Randoms: Week of Aug 23-27

I don't see one of these yet. Sorry if it's a duplicate.

What's going on this week?

Re: Randoms: Week of Aug 23-27

  • Trying to finish building DD1's bunk bed and finish getting the upstairs organized. Once the school year starts things get hectic so I'm hoping all the organizational stuff gets done in the next couple of weeks 🤞🤞🤞

  • i ate a salad today!!! after like 2 weeks of thinking everything but fruit is gross, i'm pretty psyched lol
  • I have a dentist appt in the am which I’m not looking forward too. But am happy because my teeth brushing hasn’t been super thorough because I can’t do it without gagging these days. I forgot about this from last go around.
  • @rachelredhead TJs is the best for random stuff. Ours is kinda far (like 20 mins but that seems far here haha) so I never go anymore. I should go stock up on easy frozen stuff. Great tip!
  • @rachelredhead love Trader Joes so much. When we moved last year we moved away from the only TJs in our area. Now a 45min drive and I hate going inside stores right now. Enjoy all your goodies! The kale/cauliflower gnocchi is so good in the air fryer or added to tomato soup.
  • No Trader Joes in Canada - I have always wanted to try one. And Whole foods - we have them in Canada just not near me.
  • @kgg2241 I'm sorry you've been feeling so down. Hopefully it's just the hormones and it will pass soon ❤
  • My 12 week appt for today was cancelled. The provider had a family emergency. I totally understand but am super bummed. Have been looking forward to seeing babe all week. Not to mention, the only time they could reschedule me to is at 8am next Tuesday after I work 3 in a row and it’s at an office that is almost an hour away 😭
  • I'm so sorry @night_nurse :( That must be so frustrating and disappointing! I hope this week passes quickly for you!!!!
  • So I caved and pulled out my home doppler today. I won't use it again, but I was just having so much stress today that I needed it. I think I found the heartbeat but I'm never sure. So I guess it was maybe a little reassuring...even though I'm not convinced it was actually measuring the heartbeat...
  • @nightnurse urg that's brutal! I'm sorry!

@rachelredhead embarrassing question...Trader Joe's is a grocery store I assume? I guess I could be unlazy and google it. It's probably safe to google hahah. I've never seen one on my trips to the states

@kgg2241 Im sorry you're feeling crummy! We are here if you need!

@Panaceia I keep wanting to cave and get one, but I'm pretty sure I would panic any time I couldn't find it
  • It's DS2's bday coming up. We have planned a series of small, outdoor gatherings (fully vaxed only, except those underage, distanced, masked. All people who have been taking things seriously. Numbers are good here right now).

We are doing multiple to keep numbers small. are supposed to have DHs siblings over Saturday, and Mine (plus our close friends and their 3 kids -school is not in session, and no daycare) over to my parents to swim Sunday morning.

Unfortunately, the forecast is calling for thunderstorms all weekend 😭

We obviously can't move things inside because COVID. (Parents yard is huge and we can we can easily keep the 3 households separate outside. None of us do any indoor functions though).
But I have to buy a crap load of food by Friday.

Do I cancel now? Do I hope the weather changes, and wait till Friday to cancel?
Or do I buy and prep all the food, and hope the weather holds, but be out $200+ if it doesn't?

  • @goldfishcraker yes! A chain grocery store owned by Aldi’s (another chain). It’s small with fun, quirky products as well as reasonably priced organic options and an attached liquor store. It’s wonderful and dangerous.
  • @rachelredhead I'll have to look for one the next time we get to go down!! We always have fun going to stores when we visit haha
  • @goldfishcraker aww man. That's frustrating about the weather. What about one (or 2) of those big pop up canopies? Idk if they're expensive or how bad the storms will be but I've hung out in the rain under those before.
  • @goldfishcraker Don't cave! Honestly it's not worth the stress. I used it twice with DD2 and today was likely the one and only time I'll use it this pregnancy (I started feeling movement at 13 weeks with DD2 so hoping for the same this time!). Also, I would probably cancel the swim. I would hate to do all that shopping knowing that the day might get rained out. Plus even worse if it starts raining once everyone is already there...
  • Rain, I could realistically deal with... because we will be wet in the pool anyway and I have a pop up tent/gazebo thing that could keep belongings dry.

but of COURSE it's supposed to thunderstorm 😭. No swimming with lightening, and I wouldn't want anyone under big metal poles either.
  • @goldfishcraker Yeah...I'd probably try to see if you could find a better day so you don't have to deal with the uncertainty...
  • @nursejenn5 I have been having the same trouble with brushing my teeth! I had forgotten about that since my last pregnancy too. Hope it went well and wasn’t too unpleasant for you.

@kgg2241 sending virtual hugs your way. Ive been struggling mentally and emotionally lately too with how my first trimester symptoms have been impacting my functioning lately. Here’s to hoping you will find some improvement soon. We are here to listen and hold space for you anytime, no matter how active you are or not ❤️
  • @kgg2241 thinking of you ❤️ I know that toward the end of first tri there are some huge hormone shifts happening with hcg leveling off and the placenta starting to produce progesterone. I hope the feelings subside and if not, you’re able to get access to help ❤️
  • @Panaceia and @goldfishcraker i definitely use my doppler once a day. For me, not having it was more anxiety inducing than trying and not finding the heartbeat right away. I did have about a week of panic at 10weeks when i could never find it but then suddenly at 11 weeks i started finding it right away. Know yourself, if it’ll cause stress then don’t invest in it. I can’t wait to start feeling some consistent movements!
  • My prenatal does not include iron. Do y’all take an iron supplement? I plan on asking the OB next week as I never took an iron supplement with my last pregnancy and was using the same prenatal. Just curious if I’d feel better or more energized with the supplement.
  • @rachelredhead I think nutritionists would recommend you have your iron level tested and supplement according to where you are at. Iron supplementation can be pretty constipating.
  • @rachelredhead The iron actually makes a lot of people sick during pregnancy so as long as you are not typically someone who has low iron levels you should be fine. My OB normally has me stop all prenatals at 12 weeks due to HG and I'm someone with a history of iron deficiency, so I imagine you are totally fine!
  • Blanqi is having a huge sale right now and still have a good amount of it in stock. Got one pair of leggings and a support tank. You can stack codes too. WELCOME20 adds 20% off
  • @rachelredhead, I had really low iron when pregnant with DD and I was on Iron through second, third trimester and after birth. I bought an iron supplement on amazon called "blood builder" and have been taking it every other night with my prenatal, just to avoid getting low this time. Haven't seen my OB yet.
  • I'm behind on posting. School started here last week and we're still adjusting to our new schedule. I also had my OB bloodwork done yesterday and was SO tired afterwards! Nothing too exciting this weekend, but I'm a little nervous about an indoor trampoline bday party on Sunday. It's my son's best friend, and his sister was Dd's best friend for years too.  Sigh.
