Upcoming appointments: Anatomy scan on 8/24, regular OB appt 8/25
How are you feeling?: Awesome! I try to really get a ton of stuff done in the morning, though, because by 2pm I'm ready for a nap. But otherwise things are great!
Rants/Raves: Rant: The wall/fence builder guys are still here, so the dogs can't access the yard to go potty, but rave: I've been taking them on walks over the past week and I'm proud of myself for it! The exercise feels great, and I'm happy that the dogs are getting some, too. They're both old - 14 and 12 - and they're little dogs, so they don't need a ton of exercise, but it's nice to see them exhausted and actually able to do a couple miles still.

GTKY: What was your favorite movie as a kid that you can't wait to show your little one(s)? Ooh, good question! The first one that comes to mind is The Mighty Ducks. We might be getting close with my 4.5 year old - he seems to be getting interested in non-animated stuff now. I also really want my kids to get into hockey
@magalina_h I haven't yet! It's on my list. Right now I'm in the middle of rewatching Dexter in the evenings, but I have a feeling that as the pregnancy goes on, I'll be doing more couch sitting in the future so I'll need something to watch then
Upcoming appointments: midwife Thursday, anatomy scan a week from today
How are you feeling?: tired
Rants/Raves: husband gets home this week sometime and next week we head to DisneyWorld! I’m a lot overwhelmed but excited
Questions: anyone else solidly in the second trimester with no sign of energy returning? I’m still a zombie
GTKY: What was your favorite movie as a kid that you can't wait to show your little one(s)? All the Disney movies! My son doesn’t want to watch anything that isn’t Cars or Mickey Mouse Clubhouse 😅
Upcoming appointments: 8/31 for anatomy scan + OB appointment.
How are you feeling?: Pretty good! I am sure my posture isn't helping but I am in desperate need of a prenatal massage. Everything just aches. I'm also a little nervous I haven't felt the baby yet (I don't think I have, anyway) but it's my first pregnancy (not counting my chemical) so I know it can take longer to feel. I just always need something to worry about, I guess.
Rants/Raves: Rave is that I'm finally on vacation although I've been working all day...but it was nice to do it on my schedule and take frequent TikTok breaks lol! Also, I just discovered pickle popcorn at Trader Joe's. And while I wanted it to be better, I am kind of addicted to it? It tastes like popcorn that was soaked in pickle juice. No rants right now (let's keep it that way! )
Questions: NATM
GTKY: What was your favorite movie as a kid that you can't wait to show your little one(s)? I was obsessed with this horrible "Snow White" knock-off called "Happily Ever After." It was a sequel to "Snow White," NOT Disney authorized and just...so bad. And I wore that VHS tape out. My poor mother. I think it's on YouTube, or parts of it...and while I know it's bad, it still has sentimental value to me!
@fifilala516 Pickle popcorn is AMAZING! We pop regular popcorn and then sprinkle pickle flavored salt on it. It's so freaking good. We found a company on Amazon that sells a bunch of different popcorn salts/powders, and most of them are great.
@fifilala516 we are staying in a Cars family suite at Art of Animation! Didn’t book any dining. I may try to make a last minute one at some point, but my kids are too little to sit and wait so quick service is more our style. Plus I plan to get some of our favorite local food delivered with Uber Eats hahaha
Upcoming appointments: Next Tues for anatomy scan and OB
How are you feeling?: overall really good. The combo of sun/heat, and walking all day at Silver Dollar City really wore me out today.
Rants/Raves: Rave - feeling baby move more frequently! Rant - things sounding really good to eat, and then ending up being mediocre to me. My brain and stomach are just not on the same page yet.
Questions: None
GTKY: What was your favorite movie as a kid that you can't wait to show your little one(s)? Hard to pick just one. I think I've shown all of my favorites to my son (that are age appropriate). My Cousin Vinny and A League of Our Own were some of my favorites as an older kid (like 8 or 9 and up) and are still favorites of mine to this day. Others would be Hocus Pocus, Mighty Ducks, Rookie of the Year, Little Big League. It's funny that I'm not a big sports watcher now, but I loved sports involved movies as a kid.
@magalina_h such good movie choices! My Cousin Vinny is one of my all time favorites, and A League of Their Own 🥰 it’s just sooooo good. And makes me cry like a baby.
Upcoming appointments: anatomy scan on the 24th! can’t wait!
How are you feeling?: pretty good
Rants/Raves:
rants: it’s almost time to go back to work
raves: my vaca is next week!
GTKY: What was your favorite movie as a kid that you can't wait to show your little one(s)?
ugh i already showed them pretty much everything i watched. ET, Willy Wonka, The Goonies, Hook, Ninja Turtles 1-3, The Neverending Story. We just watched Look Who’s Talking 1 & 2 since I’m pregnant. They loved it. I tried getting my daughter into Three Men and a Baby but I guess she thought it was boring haha
Upcoming appointments: 16 week OB appointment on Friday.
How are you feeling?: Nausea is mostly gone but still pretty tired.
Rants/Raves: Rave: my dr forgot to cancel an extra US appointment so I got to take a quick peak at little girl yesterday. No rant this week
Questions: how many hours of sleep are you getting each night?
GTKY: What was your favorite movie as a kid that you can't wait to show your little one(s)? So many movies. All the 90’s Disney movies. Might Ducks, Free Willy, Cool Runnings. It wasn’t out when I was a kid but the Harry Potter series, we’ve watched it every December with DS for the past 3 years and it’s my favorite holiday tradition.
@fifilala516 Pickle popcorn is AMAZING! We pop regular popcorn and then sprinkle pickle flavored salt on it. It's so freaking good. We found a company on Amazon that sells a bunch of different popcorn salts/powders, and most of them are great.
17w/2d; next appointment is the 20w anatomy scan!! On 8/30 😁
How are you feeling?: Feeling ok. Still eating a ton. Not very motivated to workout since I'm so tired in the mornings. Not as tired as first trimester.. but still. Oh, and I sneezed while laying down in bed! It twanged my round ligament so bad.. do not recommend.
Rants/Raves: we booked our first flights since our daughter was born! She is 19 months now.. wish me luck. Also, so much going on and I feel like I haven't done any baby planning at all! I've barely been on this board..
Questions:
What should I have grandma buy for my 19 month old to sleep in? Want it to not be expensive.. thinking of a toddler inflatable bed or something. She is currently in a crib still, so it's a risk. OR should I just bring our pack and play? They are insisting on buying us something.. but she is 28 lbs and already topping out for any of those travel cribs.
Any recommendations for maternity underwear? Or just good underwear? I haven't bought some intentionally in a while. The random pack from Costco just isn't cutting it.
GTKY: What was your favorite movie as a kid that you can't wait to show your little one(s)?- omg I have a terrible memory. And I can't choose at the moment.. I'll just click send
How are you feeling?: Like miserable, horrible trash. I have the worst teeth pain right now (which btw is one of the weirder "side effects" for pregnancy). I feel like I cannot get a break! I would like to feel somewhat good for more than a couple days during this pregnancy 😭
Rants/Raves: see above for my rant about tooth pain 😂😭. Rave - we have to move in the fall and were able to find a place. I'm super grateful to have one less thing stressing me out.
Questions: anyone else dealing with tooth pain? Any home remedies? (I do have a dentist appointment this week to check things out!)
GTKY: What was your favorite movie as a kid that you can't wait to show your little one(s)? So many! Ghostbusters, Hook, Mighty Ducks (this seems to be a popular one!), The Princess Bride... Disney animated movies ( but balanced out with some empowered and strong woman type stories so we dont fall into the "women need to be saved" mindset!!)
@Limes030 My 2.5 year old just graduated out of a pack and play when we stay at my parents' house, and he's 34 lbs... I'd probably just use that.
@lilyfox I'm sorry about the tooth pain! That sounds horrible. I don't have any suggestions, but I hope your dentist can help bring you some relief soon.
@lilyfox I had really bad tooth pain last week, I get it every so often from clinching my teeth. It’s normally not a big deal, I just take Advil and it goes away but it’s just the worst not being able to take it. The only thing that helped was alternating heat and ice. I also took two Tylenol before bed to help sleep. Ultimately I just had to wait it out. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this, I also feel like it’s been one thing after another for the past 3 months.
ETA: my OB did say I could take the topical numbing medicines - like anbesol (sp), I forgot I used that one night before bed with the Tylenol and it helped.
Upcoming appointments: Anatomy scan Aug 30 (my mfm does them closer to 18 weeks than 20 for some reason)
How are you feeling?: Ok now, but it has been a pretty rough month (with a thankfully happy ending).
*TW*
Sorry I have been completely MIA. July was...intense to say the least. We had a lot of travel planned, and then my NIPT came back with a high risk of Trisomy 18, which is considered fatal. It's a long story and a total cluster f* with a CVS that didn't get enough tissue, being in the middle of nowhere for a week and having to repeat the test, and about 3.5 weeks of unknown, but thankfully we finally got the full results this past Friday and everything was clear (and all ultrasounds in the meantime were clear)!! But I kind of just shut down for those weeks and was incapable of talking about it, but finally feeling the fog clear a bit and getting (cautiously) excited again.
Rants/Raves: DD starts 3 day/wk "school" on Monday and I'm so excited! We've talked to her teachers a few times this week and everyone seems so nice.
Questions: none
GTKY: What was your favorite movie as a kid that you can't wait to show your little one(s)? I loved watching old movies with my dad as a kid, so just in general introducing my kids to classics and (hopefully) loving movies.
@shinyobjects Oh wow, what a scary time for you. I don’t blame you for being MIA, I would’ve been, too. So, so happy to hear that everything’s looking good for you and your baby. What a huge relief. ❤️
Update on tooth pain: had to get a root canal 😣. Not fun but I'm glad to know the cause and solution to the pain issue. And to catch it before the infection spread!
