Upcoming appointments: 24wk apt is next Monday..... I beleive the dreaded glucose test is going to be discussed....

How are you feeling?: Overall still good. Easily worn out (if yesterday was any indication) but no major complaints.

Rants/Raves: Rave: yesterday was DSs birthday party. He requested a "make your own pizza party". Since DH has an Oonie pizza oven, we decided to oblige. Aside from the fact that it was a loooong day in front of a fire oven, it was a great party. He had so much fun and I think it was worth all our hard work to make his day exciting (especially with the state of everything for the past 1.5yrs). Rant is that my plantar warts are spreading dispite being due for my second treatment tomorrow. Whhyyyyyyy????

Questions: Yes! Now that DH and I have basically settled on baby's name, we are using it more at home. We'll, DS says he hates it 😞 I think it may be growing on him because he casually used it a bit Sat morning is discussion and didn't even flinch. Later that afternoon he got mad saying he didn't like it. When I pointed out that he too had called the baby by name, he said I "tricked him" into it. I did not lol. So my question is anyone dealt with this? How did you handle it? How would you handle it?

GTKY: What is something impressive that you can do? DH is always impressed at my ability to pick things up with my toes. He is also very unimpressed with my ability to pinch with them 😄  Aside from that, I am not very impressive 🤷‍♀️

How far along are you?: 23 weeks today 

Upcoming appointments: Next week, just a routine visit I think 

How are you feeling?: Physically this pregnancy has been rough second trimester. My hips are always sore, especially if I’ve done something semi-strenuous. I’ve been trying to go for a walk a few times a week, but it is just so hot it’s miserable. Other than that, I can’t complain too much. I feel huge, I’m almost at the weight where I gave birth last time even though I started at the same pre-pregnancy weight. I’m sure that’s not helping my pain situation! Ugh! 

Rants/Raves: Nesting has kicked in. I went through a bunch of stuff trying my to declutter and donate items we don’t use/need. I have so much left to do. I actually got it in my head that I should have a better organization system for my closet, so I’ve been looking into purchasing a set of storage boxes (that all match, haha) to line the shelves. I feel like this is a bit extra, but that’s okay. Well see. My parents offered to buy the crib, but I’ve been hesitant to buy it for some reason. I don’t know why I’m scared to make a big purchase. I’ve finally bought the baby an outfit, swaddle, and pj set. I guess my PGAL anxiety has me worried about buying stuff, although it’s significantly better recently. 

Questions: Is anyone doing maternity or family/maternity photos? I really want to do them again since this might be my last pregnancy, but DH is a little resistant. I love photography and frequently look at my photos from past sessions… We have a family photographer already that is super reasonable so that’s why I’m wanting to do it. I planted the seed yesterday, so hoping he’ll be on board. 

GTKY: What is something impressive that you can do? I totally copied this from another BMB… this is a tough one. I guess I would say I’m good at working with middle school-aged children. Most people seem to not “like” them, understandably because they can be difficult haha. In both of my careers I’ve had success with them, and I also have an interest in general working with adolescents.

@prpl11butterfly DD’s birthday is today and we’re making homemade pizza and calzones for dinner! 

@rgn12 I love family photos, but I didn’t like the way I looked last pregnancy and I don’t love the maternity pictures I got. I decided to do a family lifestyle session after this baby is here.

Upcoming appointments: I had a routine check up this morning and my anatomy scan next Monday with the MFM

How are you feeling?: pretty good overall

Rants/Raves: vacation last week was great even though it rained a couple days. But we’re headed back to the beach in a month, so I definitely can’t complain

Questions: not today 

GTKY: What is something impressive that you can do? I’m a pretty good bowler or at least I used to be. I haven’t really bowled since college, but I was on my high school and college bowling teams

@prpl11butterfly aww that sounds like an awesome bday party for your son! Regarding the name, how old is he? Do you think he’d possibly just get over the name eventually? I haven’t had any experience with this since my daughter is only two, but I’d say give it some time and maybe it’ll just workout anyways? 

@melbel0824 I am kind of worried about that right now too, because I’m way bigger than I was last pregnancy and not feeling that great about my appearance. My gut is telling me I’ll regret not doing it, but I don’t know. If I can get my husband on board I’ll probably just do it again!

@rgn12 I always do maternity pics. And actually I need to get my **s motivated to book them cause I don't want to push it too far into this and be a 🐳 🙈

@melbel0824 my brother was a great bowler! He did lots of tournaments while in elementary school but didn't pursue. He should have.

@rgn12- i didn't do maternity pics last time, but my husband got a few decent shots of me before my shower. Im debating it this time, but since Im so unsure if i will go early, I may not bother to book anything. If you have a good reasonable priced photographer, i would say go for it!!

@prpl11butterfly- How old is DS? Hopefully he will just get over it! I'm not sure I would give in, but also haven't been in this situation. We aren't telling anyone baby girl's name because we dont want opinions.. but didn't expect it would be from a child!!

@melbel0824- yay for another beach trip soon! where are you going??

How far along are you?: Today is 22+5

Upcoming appointments: Counting the days (10!) until my multiple appointments (Fetal echo, ultrasound, ped cardio team, new Midwife) next Thursday. 

How are you feeling?: Physically I feel large for where I am at. Definitely like 2-4 weeks ahead of last pregnancy, so more uncomfortable than I was expecting. Mentally, I do ok, when I am not thinking about it all too much. I have my moments where I am just devastated baby girl will have to be taken right after delivery and have a big procedure. Trying not to focus on it whenever possible. 

Rants/Raves: Finally feeling some movement every day. Definitely not consistent yet, but I love it!

Questions: none right now

GTKY: What is something impressive that you can do? hmm i am not sure i can think of anything!! I have a pretty good memory, which is helpful with a forgetful husband.

Rants/Raves: It's my birthday! Unfortunately my son had band lessons today which cut into the middle of our day to be able to do anything fun but we got to have lunch with my Dad so I guess that's good.

GTKY: What is something impressive that you can do? I mean, a stay at home Mom of 2 is pretty impressive being I haven't ended up in the psych ward or anything yet. Knock on wood, we'll see how things go after baby #3. 🤣 But really, other than that, ahhh idk. I can bend my thumb all the way back to my wrist which my husband thinks is just insane. 🤣🤷🏼‍♀️

@JamieH2000 he just turned 6. I recall him not liking DDs name (he was 4 when she was born) but he's way more opinionated now 😂 I'm sorry that you have to constantly stress about after delivery. But its good to know now so you can prepare yourself.

@prpl11butterfly oh awesome! I booked mine today, I figured I would regret it. I’m worried about being huge too, I’ll be 34 weeks and I already feel gigantic! Hoping this weight gain/huge size slows down and levels out, but I kind of doubt it 🤣

OMG… random for the week. I accidentally texted the check-in number for my daughter’s dr appt complaining about them running so late, when it was meant for my husband. Between my pregnancy brain and my daughter screaming in the car waiting for a half hour I didn’t double check. I’m so embarrassed hahahaha. I’m sure they’ve heard worse, but I am not a customer service complainer-type person at all so I was mortified. So lesson learned, be extra careful with those covid car check-ins if you’re pissed 🙈🤣

@prpl11butterfly DS is only 2 over here as well but constantly says there is no baby coming LOL I think he's jealous. Could it be that your 6 year old also is a little jealous another baby is coming? Did he suggest another name or is it just that particular name? I wouldn't change it, but that's just me.

@rgn12 I got maternity photos last time but I'm not sure if I will do it this time either. I then got family photos when my son was about 4 months which I liked since I had lost a lot of baby weight by then lol. Also as far as your text goes, Im the same as you, I don't complain in customer service since I have worked in customer service. I wouldn't be too embarrassed though. Honestly maybe they needed to hear that! The worse I have done is a daycare kept following up with me (4 calls) as to why I didn't select them for childcare. By the forth call I lost it (I was having a bad day) and told them the truth that the carpets were filthy when I walked in and I didn't want my 6 month old crawling on their floor.

Upcoming appointments: I had one on Monday all looks good. Next one is at 28 weeks

How are you feeling?: Good. I found out I have marginal placenta previa and my Midwives said I had to hold off having sex until they find out how marginal. That was 3 weeks ago and still no answer. Not that I'm complaining lol I'm okay with it...DH not so much. DS and I flew back to Ontario for some time with the grandparents before I can't fly anymore. We are here for 10 days and going to the cottage which I'm looking forward to  

Rants/Raves: not really lol. I'm just good. I'm way less anxious about this pregnancy then I was with DS. I did buy a little sleeper for baby girl the other day which was cute. 

Questions: have you had placenta previa? Did you end up needed a C-section or did it move. Could you have sex?

GTKY: What is something impressive that you can do?  Hmm well I would say calligraphy since not to many people can do that. I'm also really good at making my own lyrics to songs haha. I was my sisters MOH and for my speech I sang the song from Beauty in the Beast (Belle -the one where she is walking through town in the beginning) and wrote her a song to that music which turned out great and I still have people mention it to me 2 years later haha.

@rgn12 I had a maternity shoot last pregnancy because I thought it would be my one and only.  I want to do it this time,  but might have to skip due to finances.  I will probably just have a family shoot after baby comes instead.  Or maybe go totally bonkers and do a birth photography session!

How are you feeling?:  Overall good!  

Rants/Raves:  My MFM wants me to come back for a SECOND follow up anatomy scan for more pics of baby's heart.  I am confused, frustrated, and pissed off.  If there is a problem, shouldn't I be sent to a specialist?  In a way, I feel like they are milking me for money.  They did the same thing with my last pregnancy.  I ended up owing them close to 9k because my insurance wouldn't pay for anything because they bill as outpatient hospital visit instead of a specialist.  I am so over it.  I am really unsure if I am a even going to keep the rest of my appointments with them.  I have weekly appointments starting mid October and I know it will pretty much cost me an arm and a leg.  I almost just want to say f it.

Questions:  Those of you who see MFM how do they bill?  Are they associated with hospitals or are they independent practices?  I need to find one that bills in a way my insurance will actually pay for!

GTKY: What is something impressive that you can do?  This is hard!  I used to sing in an a Cappella group.  I guess that's impressive lol

@scaredunprepared my MFM is part of my hospital network and they bill like a specialist. It's annoying, because my insurance covers all of my OB visits but not the MFM visits. Insurance is such a joke. 

@JamieH2000 We're going back to the Outer Banks, NC again. Basically the same area but a different beach house. Last year I was trying to book a vacation for 2020 and accidentally booked for 2021 and paid it in full. So it's almost like a free vacation this year.

@kaitcrystalline I had pervia with DD. They had me on pelvic rest from 20wks when they found it to 24wks when a follow up US confirmed the it had cleared up. No c-section needed!

@kaitcrystalline I had low-lying placenta with my daughter and went back for a later ultrasound and it had moved. They didn't seem overly concerned at first and just said they'd check it later. I was never told to refrain from sex from what I remember. Hopefully it moves for you! 🤞🏼

@scaredunprepared- that is frustrating! Is there no way they can change the billing? Can you get more info on what they couldn’t see? They just can get images or they see something of concern? At this point, I would probably just ask for a fetal echo…that should cover all bases of the heart and those techs and ped cardiologist are experts at seeing the heart vs just the regular MFM…

@JamieH2000 thank you for the advice!  I will ask if we can do the fetal echo instead.   I don't believe there is anything they are connected about, just couldn't get decent pics.  They won't change the billing as I have been through that all with them last pregnancy.  It's infuriating.  

@melbel0824 at least yours bills as a specialist!  Ours billing as a hospital outpatient visit is what screws me over.  And also, why???  I don't get it.  I am not in the hospital, I am seeing a doctor in an office........wtf?  Isn't it such a huge PITA that insurance won't cover the high risk stuff?  Like, hello, I am high risk over here and you are ADDING TO MY DAMN STRESS AND MAKING ME EVEN HIGHER RISK MFers!!!!

lol @prpl11butterfly, my 5 year-old said she doesn’t like the name we chose either (I think this is due to my partner’s mother mentioning she didn’t like it 🙄) so I asked her if she had any good ideas for names. She then came up with her own name, “Haleesa” that she wanted to name her sister, and I told her that we wouldn’t be naming her sister that (lol) but that she could pick out a stuffed baby or animal to name for herself. Her and Haleesa the stuffed Husky have been inseparable since and she hasn’t brought it up again 🤷‍♀️

@rgn12 - no photos here but only bc neither my partner or I really like family photos in general (we take a lot of photos just not professional ones lol). I say if you want to do it, do it!

@scaredunprepared - my MFM is through the same hospital that my OB is through and if I get a referral from my OB is billed as a specialist and covered by insurance. If I was to choose to see them without the referral I would have to pay out of pocket. 

Can you ask your PCP or OB for a referral to a different practice or specialist? I also have to go back for follow up anatomy scan pics since they couldn’t get great pics of a few body parts, but I’m not going to my MFM I’m just going to my OB- is that a possibility for you?

How are you feeling?: starting to feel tired again 😭 wth. Feeling great otherwise despite heartburn. 

Rants/Raves: Rant! We just got back from camping all week with friends and their kids (5 families!!!) and I really dislike it when people just let their kids run loose and expect other parents to parent their kids. A lot of the kids (there were 10!) ended up in/around our camp and I would go hours without seeing other parents. Like uh, maybe check in with me or ask if I mind babysitting 10 kids under 8? 

Questions: has anyone had pregnancy related hyperthyroidism? My thyroid levels have been off this pregnancy and my endocrinologist said that it’s prob related to my pregnancy and should go away after I give birth. I’ve had some mild side effects, but nothing terrible. Wondering if it will get worse and how long it will take to resolve. 

Next question: I am thinking that I would like to donate my cord blood to a public bank. Has anyone done this? 

GTKY: What is something impressive that you can do? I can stay (outwardly at least lol) calm in even the worst situations. I’m not sure that’s impressive, but it has come in v useful as a bartender and mother lol.

@bkjade- can your endo put you on meds for your hyperthyroidism?? My understanding was that it needs to be controlled during pregnancy since it can cause loss?? Also, I would happily donate cord blood to a public bank, but then i don't think you can do delayed cord clamping which is beneficial for baby i believe?

@JamieH2000 - I'll def be asking my OB at my visit on Thursday. I feel like sometimes there is a disconnect between my specialists and primary care doctors
