Upcoming Appointments: First appointment is September 9, which will be 9 weeks and some change. Just the ultrasound and a consultation, but I probably need to call them back and let them know I need to see the doctor as well so she can refer me to MFM to schedule my cerclage.
How are you feeling?: Fine. Occassional RLPs. I'm tired but I'm always tired. Feeling a little weird because the lines on my tests were fairly faint, compared to previous pregnancies, but I'm telling myself that's because this time I'm just using the strips vs. the fancy First Response tests.
Rants/Raves: My brain is so scattered. I'm not sure if it's hormones, fatigue, or because we just got back from a week-long trip to visit my husband's family, but ugh. I'm having a terrible time trying to focus on work. I hate feeling like this.
Questions: Nope, but happy to answer.
GTKY: If you could move anywhere, where would you move? If we are being practical, I don't want to live anywhere without family close by, and I don't want to live anywhere with a high cost of living. Currently, we live in the greater Cincinnati area (on the Kentucky side of the river), which is where I grew up. My husband is from western NY. I like it there and could see us living there as well, but no idea if that will actually happen at any point. If we are ignoring jobs/money/family/logistics, I would love to live somewhere in South Florida. I've always thought that if I didn't have a spouse or children, and had a big chunk of money to use, I would live in a little shack in the Keys surrounded by tropical fruit trees and fish for a living.
*lurking from the other EDD week* @hkom it’s so quiet over here, but it won’t be for long! I grew up in western NY and now live in northern KY. Both are beautiful.
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: April 10, 4+2, I think
Upcoming Appointments: I have a consultation with a midwife on August 5. I've never done any of this before so I'm not sure what to expect. I was expecting to have an appointment closer to October because I have to schedule normal OBGYN stuff 4-5 months in advance usually, so I assumed my appointment would be very last minute. I am going to a birthing center instead of a doctor's office so maybe that is the difference.
How are you feeling?: My boobs are really sore, and I'm my stomach feels like period cramps on and off, which scares me, but I've had no spotting which has been a relief.
Rants/Raves: I have to wear body armor and a heavy belt with lots of tools on it for work. My uniform pants already feel tight and they pushed out our uniform allowance money out for an extra 3-4 months when it should have been available in July. It's hot here, 100+ most days and I have to wear a mask. I have been really uncomfortable with all the pressure on my stomach. And I don't have anyone to complain to about it. haha.
Questions: I don't think I have any, yet, unless someone wants to crawl into my body and tell me if every slightly weird thing I am feeling is normal.
GTKY: If I didn't have to have some sort of job to pay the bills, I would move to the woods and go hiking everyday and grow my own food and it would be great probably until winter comes.
Upcoming Appointments: none yet. Will call Monday after period is officially late. Will likely schedule me at 8 weeks.
How are you feeling?: fine! No symptoms. Just mentally prepping for end of summer/me going back to work (I’m a college professor).
Rants/Raves: loving the new season of Ted Lasso! Such a funny and heartwarming show.
Questions: moms of 2+—were your symptoms similar across all pregnancies? I had it pretty easy the first time (no nausea/sickness and mostly mild stuff) and wondering how likely I am to get that lucky this time-lol!
GTKY: If you could move anywhere, where would you move? I’m also a born and raised KY girl (south/central) and love it here. My family is here (my parents actually just moved into our neighborhood about 20 seconds from us lol!) and my husband and I agreed early on that we would raise our family here. Someday I would like to get a place in a warmer climate when we are retired/empty nesters. I love the Sarasota/Long Boat Key area of FL!
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: April 9, 2022 / 4 weeks + 5 days
Upcoming Appointments: August 17th, I’ll be 6 weeks at that time! I have so many questions so I’m definitely bringing a list with me! The front desk told me the OB/GYN is pregnant herself and leaving at the end of August, so fingers crossed she lasts long enough until my first appointment! 😬🤞 LOL
How are you feeling?: Overall just really sleepy and tired! I’ve also been struggling with anxiety, which is new for me.
Rants/Raves: I already ranted a bit in the symptoms post, but the anxiety is definitely what has been getting to me the most! I had a corticosteroid injection in my foot 6 weeks before DOC and once I became pregnant, I kind of fell down the Google rabbithole finding studies that showed chromosomal abnormalities to lymphocyte cells when exposed to betamethasone, the same type of steroid I got. Now I just can’t seem to get that horrible pit feeling out of my stomach that it affected my egg health or caused an issue with the baby’s chromosomes. 😓 I’m sure it’s my hormones getting to me, but it feels so weird because I’ve never felt anxiety like this before!
Questions: Any advice for anxious mamas out there that’ll hold me over until 10 weeks when I can have the NIPT and make sure everything is okay with baby? I’ve been doing prenatal yoga and meditation YouTube videos with Bettina Rae and it’s helped quite a bit!
GTKY: If you could move anywhere, where would you move? Australia! 😍 I’ve never visited before, but I’ve wanted to ever since I can remember! I can absolutely see myself falling in love with the Brisbane area or somewhere similar!
@loveanddatadriven @hkom I also grew up in Western NY, on Chautauqua Lake! Most of my family still lives there now, but hubby and I moved to the west coast of FL after high school!
Upcoming Appointments: I haven't scheduled one yet. I end my current job in 2.5 weeks and move to a new state, then start my new job in mid September. Not great timing on our part, since I'm not sure when my new health insurance will kick in. Maybe I can get an early appt before losing my current insurance at the end of August?
How are you feeling?: Fine so far. No symptoms yet. Just excitement!
Rants/Raves: I made a Thanksgiving dinner last night and it was DELISH. So I'm raving about that haha.
GTKY: If you could move anywhere, where would you move? Ooh! This is hard because the best forensic psych jobs are on the two coasts. But I'd love to live somewhere like Kauai if it meant I could keep my job.
Update- I was able to get some appts booked for later this month, while I’m still under my current insurance. Nurse visit via video next Friday and doctor visit/ultrasound 08/30 🙌🏻 Such a relief.
