Re: Weekly Check-In 8.2.2021

  • How Far Along? 13 weeks tomorrow!

Upcoming Appointments? I have one with our home health nurse (incredible—I need to share more about this!) in a half hour, virtually, then have another check up with my doctor this Friday in person.

TTGP Grad? Is this for previous bump groups? If so, my Dec 19 group is still active (tho private) and we post daily!

    IF/RPL/High Risk? No

How are you feeling? So much better the last few days! Finally feel like I can eat things other than carbs and fruit. Not everything yet, lol, but more than before.

Rants/Raves? I’m kind of mad at myself right now. I keep feeling waves of sadness that baby 2 is another boy, because we’re likely not having a third, and we both really, REALLY wanted at least one girl. So I feel like I’m mourning that loss, and I am kind of tired of feeling so sad about it.

Questions? Does anyone else on here have another kid younger than 2 right now? (Just curious!)

GTKY: What is your favorite food of all time? Ooh. Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodles). Obsessed, and my tiny town doesn’t have a Thai place or Asian market, so I almost never get to eat it!

  • How Far Along? 10+5

Upcoming Appointments? Friday I have a followup ultrasound and my 12 week visit.

    TTGP Grad? No

    IF/RPL/High Risk? No

How are you feeling? Pretty good. Tired all the time. Craving all things like oranges, pickles, green olives, lemonade, orange juice, salads...

    Rants/Raves? Not today!

    Questions? None yet.

GTKY: What is your  food of all time? Oooh definitely homemade macaroni and cheese. I can't eat it right now because of aversions, but honestly just typing it now makes me want to give it a shot!

@ninrms I have a son who just turned a year old in July. I totally understand the feeling guilty over gender disappointment. With my youngest I was really hoping for a daughter. We were going to be team green, but I was so afraid of feeling  disappointment at delivery if baby was a boy, so we found out early so I had a chance to accept it. I'm happy I found out. It was never "I don't want a boy" but definitely mourning the not having another daughter feelings for me.
  • How Far Along? 12 weeks 6 days

Upcoming Appointments? I had my 1st trimester screening last week, so next appointment is in a couple weeks

    TTGP Grad?

IF/RPL/High Risk? RPL, AMA, thyroid issues (remission)

How are you feeling? The puking stopped! Now to kick the 1st trimester tiredness. I'm ready for the good 2nd trimester feeling.

Rants/Raves? DH has been so understanding when I've woken him up 3 nights in a row to tell him about a random food I'm craving. He even ordered the wings I wanted for dinner on Saturday night after I woke him up at midnight to ask if they sounded good to him, too. Also, both boys are finally sickness-free! We had ear infections and RSV run through the house at the same time last week, and it was ugly.  It was interesting to see how different RSV looked in a 3 year old vs. a 1 year old.  DS2 definitely had a rougher go of it.

Questions? I had a question, and then I forgot. So I'll be back when I remember.

GTKY: What is your favorite food of all time? I love spaghetti and meatballs. There is 1 restaurant back home that makes the best spaghetti and meatballs, and they puree the sauce so there aren't any pesky onions floating in it at all.

@ninrms DS2 turned 1 in June, so we'll be in the 2 under 2 club for a few months after this baby is born.  Please don't be too hard on yourself.  Gender disappointment is real, and it's hard sometimes when the picture of your family in your mind doesn't quite match the one you get.
  • How Far Along? 14 weeks
Upcoming Appointments? Today-- due for a pap smear.
    TTGP Grad? No
IF/RPL/High Risk? Will technically be AMA when I have baby boy.
How are you feeling? Still quite sick. Though maybe a little bit better? Trying not to be disappointed that this magical second trimester starting today greeted me with an early morning throw up (barely made it to the sink!)
Rants/Raves? Rave: I got Zofran and it seemed to work (tested it for one day). Feeling less anxious about being miserably sick on my wedding day. Rant: @ninrms I'm with you. This pregnancy has been rougher than I ever imagined so I began telling myself this was the only pregnancy I'd have. We have 1 boy (my SS) so I secretly hoped for a girl. It's a hard feeling to navigate. Happy that your baby is healthy but at the same time (@makingbacon worded this well) when the picture you had envisioned for you family doesn't come to be, it is difficult to wrap your head around.
    Questions? natm
GTKY: What is your favorite food of all time? I'm with @modoodles! Mac and cheese is life. Thankfully it has also been my saving grace when I can't eat anything else. Though, a close second is Drunken Noodle @ninrms! I just found a place (I moved to a new city last year) that has a pretty good Drunken Noodle that will satisfy that craving.
  • How Far Along?11w3d

Upcoming Appointments? I have my first ultrasound a week from Thursday.

    TTGP Grad? Nope

    IF/RPL/High Risk? Nope

How are you feeling? Still shitty. Nausea might be slightly better but now I just have constant headaches that won't go away. About to go take a nap and hope nobody notices I'm not logged on at work...

Rants/Raves? Slightly unrelated rant. My husband picked up our toddler from daycare like a month ago, got a sheet of paper that said they would be closed for vacation for two weeks in August, and then "accidentally" threw it out. But he insisted that it was DEFINITELY the second two weeks of August so of course I went to work rearranging appointments, getting people on board to watch the kid, etc etc. Only to find out now that he was wrong and it's actually the last two weeks of August that they're closed  :|. He is a wonderful and caring husband and father and does soooooo much for us but he makes these kind of annoying, easily avoidable screwups ALL THE TIME and it drives me insane.

    Questions? I got nothing.

GTKY: What is your favorite food of all time? oh that's such a hard one. I could eat pizza every day of my life, but if I want a "special" meal it's pretty much always Thai food. Specifically this one little hole in the wall Thai place in Boston that makes amazing spicy basil pork belly (Pad Ga Pow Moo Krob)
  • How Far Along? 12w4d

Upcoming Appointments? Internal Med OB - first appt with her tomorrow

    TTGP Grad? No

    IF/RPL/High Risk? All the above

How are you feeling? Honestly really good. Fatigue has let up, anxiety is down a bit more so mostly just smell sensitive and everything is salty.

Rants/Raves? I’m really excited to be finishing this last trimester this week. I’m also happy the exhaustion let up now so I can have this last warm month with DS. July was a struggle.

Questions? STM - what’s your thinking for when to go off work? I’m kinda thinking I will want to be home a week or two before this time around but I also don’t want to use up extra leave time. I just kinda figure I’ll be more tired having a child already.

GTKY: What is your favorite food of all time? A tie between salsa and chicken pho.

  • @JWatt5 As far as time off—I’m hoping to request the full second semester (I teach high school). Our semester ends mid/late January, and I’m due Feb 9. And I’d like to take my full 3 months regardless —which means I’d be coming back with only a few weeks left of the semester before school is out. It makes more sense to me for the benefit of my students (and my sanity, honestly, lol) if I just take the entire semester off and end up taking unpaid leave for part of it. But that all depends on whether or not my admin is supportive and approves.
  • @ninrms I think you're absolutely allowed to be sad! you wanted to have one experience and it is likely you won't get to have that experience. you can feel excited to be pregnant and looking forward to a new baby and at the same time, separately, be mourning the loss of an experience <3

@makingbacon YH sounds like a hero for ordering those wings omg. we need a thread for celebrating what our partners are doing for us/putting up with lol

    How Far Along? 13w5d

    Upcoming Appointments? 16w on 8/23

    TTGP Grad? yes :)

    IF/RPL/High Risk? no

How are you feeling? Today I'm feeling tired but overall I've definitely been feeling and noticing that 2nd trimester love! We also got a VERY COMFORTABLE couch :) (the last one would make my butt fall asleep while I sat on it - that's not supposed to happen lol)

Rants/Raves? I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with work! MH and I are having the big finances talk about what we could handle in terms of my practice, but it sounds like either way, I get to give my 1-month notice either tomorrow or next week. I am giddy with possibility and at the prospect of being done at this job and getting to start my own practice (whether it's in a group or a private practice). So much to look forward to!

Questions? when would you share your registry with people outside of your immediate family/parents? I shared our registry with parents over the weekend and since we aren't having a shower, I don't know when to post or share it with others.

GTKY: What is your favorite food of all time? well that's just not fair - all time?! I guess I just love breakfast food. I'd have it nearly all the time if I could. french toast, pancakes, waffles, different types of eggs, avocado toast, cereal, danishes and pastries, DOUGHNUTS, coffee...mmmmm :)
  • @chgilmore That is exciting about your practice and giving notice! I’m not sure on when to share the registry. DH really has been good about my food talks. He’s always so nice when I wake him up. I would not be that friendly lol.
  • How Far Along? 12+0

    Upcoming Appointments?
Growth scan and looking at NT on Wednesday

    TTGP Grad?
    Kinda. Didn’t participate much.

    IF/RPL/High Risk?
High risk, at 12 weeks the placenta takes over. So I’m in my riskiest time period now. I’m nervous to see what happens to baby’s growth over the next 12 weeks before viability. This is when Easton started falling off the curve and no one noticed until too late 🥺

    How are you feeling?
Emotionally a little detached. Though I did break my no buying things rule again and bought hedgehog things. Physically fairly normal. I still have nausea triggers but seriously the most mild pregnancy I’ve ever had. Tired all the time though still.

    Rants/Raves?
Looking at moving and I’m excited and dreading the possibility

    Questions?
    Natm

GTKY: What is your favorite food of all time?
    Tacos
  • How Far Along? 12w4d

    Upcoming Appointments? Aug 12

How are you feeling? I'm only feeling nauseous every other day now, and only for a few hours instead of all day. Otherwise I feel good... Well except for the insomnia that kicked in a few days ago.

Rants/Raves? I called my doctor to check on my NIPT results since it's been almost two weeks, and they told me they had no record of me getting that test done. I was asked if I came up to the office for the paperwork to take to the lab, but no I didn't because when I called that morning I was told to go straight to the lab and that they had everything needed in the system. I even specifically asked the receptionist about needing paperwork because I thought the doctor said something about coming to the office first, but the receptionist told me I must have misheard. So I had to go back in to get the blood work done for the NIPT.

    Questions? Nope

GTKY: What is your favorite food of all time? Tacos or quesadillas
  • @ninrms Im also a teacher, and that's what I'm wanting too, to just have the rest of the year off after I go on maternity leave. Otherwise I would be coming back for just two weeks. The end of the year is already crazy enough, I don't want to make it even more so. I just feel guilty about it since the 2020 school year ended abruptly with covid. Then this past year a student tested positive for covid with only 10 days of school left so that ended the school year for my class early again... Now I might have a third year without having that real end of the school year.  But having a full, uninterrupted 6 months home with baby sounds really nice.
  • How Far Along? 10w3d

    Upcoming Appointments? August 11th

    TTGP Grad? No

IF/RPL/High Risk? I’m not sure what RPL stands for, and I don’t know if I fit under IF either. High risk due to Factor V, hypothyroid, and recurrent early losses due to endo that was diagnosed and removed surgically in May.

How are you feeling? Much better, some nausea but it is doable.

Rants/Raves? Each day and each week that passes is helping me feel more at ease, but I’m still very leery of telling people about pregnancy. Im waiting for the ball to drop somewhere. My OB is very skilled in women with endo and treating it to get pregnant, and said his patients typically don’t have issues with pregnancy post surgery. I’m praying I get to carry this baby to term.

    Questions? NATM

GTKY: What is your favorite food of all time? Such a hard choice to pick one. Tacos, cheese fries, and pizza.

  • @ninrms - right now I’m planning to go off February 1 (due the 10th). I’m hoping I make it to that time! It makes me more nervous with it being winter vs summer like last time.

With DS I went off two weeks before with Vacation Days I saved then started my leave officially on the due date for 13m. This time I’ll be off 11m and then DH will take the other 2 months.

  • @effie0513 I would have lost my MIND if I'd had to go back to get the same bloodwork twice. that's so frustrating.
@ninrms I'm grateful that I get to choose to not work right up until I go into labor and that my state has a paid leave program for 12-16 weeks. I intend to take off from the winter holidays until 3-4 months postpartum so that I can truly focus on prepping for and taking care of baby
  • @JWatt5 Since I have flexibility to WFH full time I'll probably work right up to my due date, if not until baby date. Last time I just hoarded vacation days so I could be done after Christmas (he was due a week later) and then fate laughed at me and I had to be induced on Christmas Eve. It's much harder to save up so much PTO with a kid and daycare Covid restrictions though!
  • @JWatt5 I think I'm going to take vacation the month of Feb before my due date. I am not due until the 22nd but I think even if I take off starting on the 7th for two weeks that should just cut into my vacation time and then my FMLA/Short-term disability won't kick in until after birth day.

  • @JWatt5 with my daughter I worked up until I had her, I worked a full day Wednesday, went in to labor right after midnight Thursday and had her Thursday night. The next friday I "dropped by" work and ended up working a half day. Worked half days for the next two weeks and then right back to full time. So I basically had one week off lol. But at that time my husband was a student and was on winter break so he stayed home with her, she didnt start going to a sitter until 10 months old because she screamed the entire time I was gone at work.

This time around Im hoping to move most of my work to home a month before my due date and maybe come into the office one day a week, and then WFH for 3 or 4 months after having the baby and just go into the office once a week during that time. My husband should be able to wfh one day a week when I go in.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • I think COVID really helped with the WFH possibilities! I know my company is more open to it now. @livingoffpbjs - I can’t believe you worked right up! That’s amazing. I’m nervous about the commute. Last time my feet would start to swell (the only time) after the hour in the car feet on the pedals. And with it being winter, Feb is the worst & people drive like dummies on the highway - I hate it not pregnant.

And it happens again!! OB rejects me, high risk isn’t sure about me but this time is who made the appointment I had today with Internal med. turns out my clinic didn’t know I had my TIA risk cleared last pregnancy so I really don’t need high risk and would be set for a regular OB.

But when the clinic sent my referral & chart to the reg OB they saw the possible TIA history (that was cleared) and that’s why they rejected me. Now I have to hope they have room for me - last time this happened no one did and I didn’t start with an OB until 3rd trimester. Which I mean is fine, my family doc can do the monthly appts. I just know she wants me with an OB being 37 & IVF.

Upcoming Appointments? Next one in 3 weeks

    TTGP Grad?

IF/RPL/High Risk? IF - Male Factor, High risk - Age/IVF/Thyroid but none are "serious"

How are you feeling? Definitely feel relief, but still surprised to feel some nausea, usually right after I eat something but not for long.

Rants/Raves? My cell phone is broken (well screen is cracked and can't see the screen) and the repair has been rescheduled for the 3rd time because of silly issues, not having the part, they were trying to call me on my broken phone number to confirm info and couldn't get a hold of me.....oh well. Nice break from the phone :)

    Questions? No

GTKY: What is your favorite food of all time? It could change daily, but, I can always go for Latin food!
  • @JWatt5 That is so frustrating that they keep rejecting you! Are there any other OB’s in your area?

@photographerwife That’s great that you’re able to eat some finally. I also am looking forward to 2nd trimester energy.

I halfway told DS1 about the baby last night. He kept bouncing into my stomach last night while I was reading him bedtime stories, and I finally told him to stop bumping into the baby. He turned around to look at my stomach and said “Baby? Where? What’s his name?” Then he snuggled back up, and we continued reading lol.
  • @makingbacon There's a good number of them but I have to be referred by a doctor and they fill up so fast. A midwife around here (that you can contact yourself but I'm too complicated for them) you have to call as soon as you find out you are pregnant. I talked to my clinic today and they are going to send back to the first OB and to a few other offices. I would just prefer a female with hospital privilege's at the hospital I want. At the end of the day, this kid is coming out at what ever hospital I show up to so, I just need the regular monitoring. lol

  • @babyodo glad you're back and that all is well :) I'm definitely feeling some movement! it feels less like flutters and more like a fish from the pet store swimming in a little plastic bag and banging against the sides. I've been noticing it since week 11 (I know where gas lives in my body and it was /not/ there! lol) but it's been getting more intense
  • @babyodo ugh. How frustrating about your ob! And I’m definitely (I think) starting to feel flutters at 13+6. It’s really light but I’d describe it like @chgilmore did! And I can only feel it if I’m laying down and being super still.
  • @photographerwife @chgilmore @babyodo I'm super jealous you can already feel baby movement. I usually feel first movement between 15 and 16 weeks, but I'm not patient lol.
  • @makingbacon mine is definitely not all of the time! Only when he’s being super active I guess. It’s really hit and miss! Can’t wait until it’s more consistent!
  • @makingbacon I'm jealous too! I keep thinking I feel something (doc has already told me twice that baby's a mover!) but then it goes away and I doubt myself!
  • @makingbacon @photographerwife @lexilougolden I wish mine would happen more consistently too! it's not even predictable. and then once I give up trying to find it and pay attention to it for a day or so, she practically rams her whole body into my uterus lol.
  • @chgilmore 😂 that’s really what it’s like though! I always lay down at night with my hand on my belly hoping I’ll be able to feel something, but only sometimes! I didn’t feel consistent movement with ds until like 18-19 weeks though, so I’ll take whatever I can get!
  • With an anterior placenta I’m not expecting much early… whomp whomp
  • @angelz429 my last pregnancy I had an anterior placenta and dint feel anything. Regular until like 22-24 weeks. I'm not expecting anything early this time either.
