We had Weston as our top boy name since we started trying again over two years ago. And James as a middle name. Ive always loved Wyatt but DH has never taken to it.
The day we found out this baby was a boy, all the sudden, didn’t like Weston lol.
99% sure this little ones name will be Avery (which was never on the list) John (John is my grandfather’s name - he passed last year at 90 while napping on the couch after gardening). So we’ll have…
DS1 - Parker William DS2 - Avery John
Girl names we’ll now never use is Rose Isobel/Maggie Rose.
Me: 37 DH: 37 - Married 10.2015 ❤️ Canadian DX: Endometriosis - Stage 4, DOR, RPL
Our daughter now is Rylee Aurelia. This next one if it is a girl was going to be Rhea Mackenzie. Now that it’s twins I have noooo idea. We also don’t really have a boy name picked out. We’ve liked Jensen for forever, but now I’m on the fence with that one. 🤷🏻♀️
We had DD1 picked out right away. She's Aria Jeanne.
DD2 we didn't know gender until birth. I always loved Declan for a boy and thought Hunter or Samuel for middle names. She ended up being Baby Girl for 3 days until we decided on Rylee Lynn. She was 5 weeks early though so the timing played a factor.
This one will for sure be Declan if it's boy and I'm leaning toward Olivia for a girl, DH likes it too but it may change. We won't know until birthing day though, making it another surprise.
We’re pretty secretive with names. 😬 We’ve had a girl’s name picked out since I was pregnant with DS1, and it took us forever to settle on a boy’s name. DS1 is Taran Andrew.
We just found out yesterday we’re having another boy. Pretty bummed I don’t get to use the girl’s name we’re crazy about, and we are back to square 1 for boys’ names. We do have the middle name picked out though.
@ninrms ditto feeling secret with our names, partially because it's not 100% yet but partially because we have an agreement "not to waste a perfectly good name" (MH's words) if for some reason we have a loss before we reach viability. I was so grateful we found out we were having a girl because we had that name down before we ever got pregnant! We agreed that the middle name will be after my paternal grandmother; she's my closest family member and is very special to me.
Our name criteria (read: MH's name criteria) were/are extensive: has to be "plain English", old fashioned/classic, not biblical, not a variation (can't be misspelled easily, ie Lawrence vs Laurence, etc), has to have Spanish and Italian equivalents (we have a plan to move to Spain after getting Italian dual citizenship, and MH wants to teach baby Spanish), and has to have common/"cool" nicknames in Spanish and Italian.
@brittany_f Any chance you like Jensen because of Jensen Ackles?
Loving all these names!
I have no idea what our names will be, I love floral names for a girl. I kind of dont like naming children, I didnt want to with our daughter and I made a bet with my husband on who would get to name her and I lost and I regret it. So this time around I get to name this child 100%. I didnt even know our daughters name until we left the hospital. I filled out all the paperwork except her first name and handed the paper work to my husband and he told me on the way home. I guess I should be lucky he didnt name her Mr. Bojangles Montgomery.
@livingoffpbjs lol that’s definitely where we heard it! We’ve been big Supernatural fans over the years. 🤓 Naming kids is so hard! For real. It took us forever to pick a name last time.
@brittany_f hahaha I have had a crush on Jensen for 24 years, back in the Days of Our Lives days. It would probably be one of my boy names but Im hoping for another girl.
@livingoffpbjs he’s a gooood looking man. 😂 I’m hoping for girls again too! Husband of course wants a boy, but I’m like we have all the stuff for a girl. Just seems like a hassle to get clothing all over again. 🤷🏻♀️
MH has a huge list of names (mostly boys) and I'm completely stumped. Every name I've offered, he has shot down, and the names he really likes are all really complicated/weird spellings. As someone who has an alternatively-spelled (though common) name, I refuse to do that to our child.
I offered these for girls: Erin Abigail, Evelyn Lorelei, Laila Rose. He said no to all.
Then he offered: Roisin, Saiorse (pronounced Ser-shuh), Darby, and Aoife (pronounced Ee-fah).
@babyodo We have a boy name picked out that we're recycling from DS2, so fingers crossed if baby is a boy, he looks like that name lol. We literally just keep recycling boy names. Girl names we don't agree on at all. DH has no suggestions for names, but he has shot down Charlotte, Dakota, and Isabella. His reasoning for shooting down Charlotte and Isabella was everyone will shorten her name in various ways, and he knows that irritates me. It's true, but I liked them lol.
@babyodo one of my best friends is named Roisin whenever there's an issue with pronunciation she just either goes by her middle name or the english version, Rose.
@babyodo yeah those are all very Irish names. Erin is a great Irish name though too. Maybe you can look down the Irish baby name list and find some you both like?
I just love seeing all the names! I have no idea yet and my husband will probably do the same as last time, waited until close to the end to decide. But looking for boy name inspiration! The only thing I know is we will use James as the middle name.
@kaf1788 & @angelz429 - Yes, we're both very Irish. DD1's name is Gaelic, translated it means white pearl, which is funny because we figured out that she was conceived the night we had dinner at a seafood place where we had oysters as an appetizer, lol.
See, I really like Bridget or Bridgid, but he thinks it sounds boring. I might start looking into gender-neutral names (DD1's first name is gender-neutral), so that'll make it easier to decide either way.
Husband and I are agreeing on Emme Marie or Isla Marie. He like Emilia, but I prefer Amelia, and he won’t budge. I also love Hayden and Briar, but he’s not a fan of this either. Lol
@angelz429 That would be really hard with the kids not liking your names. Maybe it’ll be better once they meet the baby and have a face with name? I like both of those names! We are also name double dippers. If we have another boy, he will be named the alternate of the alternate lol. This is our first time being team green, so it’s weird not knowing what we’re having until delivery.
DS1 named the baby. He keeps telling me that he’s having a baby sister, and her name is Grace. I like the name, and would consider it as a middle name if we have a girl. We usually do family names for middle names, but we honestly don’t have any good female names I like well enough to use. So if we go that route, we’d end up using my middle name. I like my middle name just fine, it’s just plain and common, and decently common when paired with my first name. Has anyone ever used a name picked by a sibling? I feel like it deviates from our tradition, but it would still be special.
@makingbacon if Samson “got” the concept of names I would totally consider using his choice. I let him name our current foster cats and he went with “Mama Cat” and “Baby Cat” sooo I think that’s enough naming rights for him 😂
@kaf1788 Haha, those are solid cat names. That is usually how things are named in our house, too. He’s just adamant that’s her name. All DH said was it’s better than anything he’s come up with so far. So we’ll see. We’re leaning pretty hard for it to be a middle name. We’ve been struggling with girl names.
My friend’s daughter was 5 when she was pregnant with her second and she named their baby Kate and it stuck.
If I gave Brielle naming rights to this baby, she wants Cole for a boy (our number 1 name, but the one Draken doesn’t like) and Cece for a girl. And although I think Cece is a cute nickname, I don’t love any of the “full names” that go with it.
My girl name was set, but now it’s grown to a list of 6 names 😩
maybe I’ll just wait until we meet the baby to name them. We’ve never done that lol.
Still solidly team green here…. But my resolve is dying when I see super cute hospital swaddle blankets that I want to buy all of them lol
@angelz429 I feel you on the team green pain. This is our first, and only, attempt at it, and also I keep seeing cute swaddles with matching bows. I’ve never had a girl, and I love all the bows lol. I told DH not to let me cave at our 20 week ultrasound. He’s pretty indifferent, so I think he’ll hold me to it.
@angelz429 my daughter has been calling her baby sister Cece which I think is cute but also not loving the full names for it, Cecilia sounds old or stuck up and Sierra sounds like a stripper lol
@makingbacon My 2 yo heard us discussing names and just started calling the baby “baby Blaire”. It sounded so sweet coming from her little mouth, that we stuck with it. My 6 yo already has nicknames.
Any one else finding that their list(s) from a previous pregnancy are being completely thrown out now? That’s us right now and I’m finding it so frustrating. We had quite a few boy names lined up last time and now none of them feel/sound right. 🤦🏻♀️ Even harder having to now pick two names for a set of twin boys!
So far the ones we haven’t completely turned down are:
Nolan Maddox Bryce
Middle names are completely up in the air so recommendations are welcome! DD’s middle name begins with an A (Aurelia) so my sister suggested all A’s which may be fun. But again nothing has stuck yet. 🤷🏻♀️
@brittany_f I can barely come up with one boy name, let alone two! I like the names you have so far! Are there any family names for middle names? My family has a ton of "J" names and my mom regrets that because she mixes them all up DH and I were thinking of a J name and then we went to a family function and immediately ruled it out because there were too many in the family.
@brittany_f absolutely! The only boy name that we didn’t totally throw out is Miles, and I’m not sold on it either. 😂 at this rate I’ll be lucky if we have a name by birth.
Re: All About that Name Thread
DS1 (11) is Draken Lee, but would have been Summer Lily if he were a girl
DD (4) is Brielle Rose, but would have been Nolan Thomas if she were a boy
DS2 (loss) was Easton Lee, but would have been Emlyn Rose if he were a girl
This one is going to be
Cole Easton if they’re a boy
Oakley Rose if they’re a girl
DS1 - Parker William
DS2 - Avery John
Girl names we’ll now never use is Rose Isobel/Maggie Rose.

DS1 is Samson foster and would have been Violet Elizabeth for a girl
this baby is 99% Clara Josephine. Boys names we were considering were Charlie or Wesley

Girl Name will 99% either be Wren Violet or Josie Wren. Just because we (I) love them so much.
Boy name list is Colby Nicholas, Cole Avery, or Grady Cole- but I don't *LOVE* any of them. The kids really like Cole Avery.
My other kids' names are
Alexis Erin (16)
Logan Orman (14)
Gunnar Lee (12)
Carson David (8)
Milo Grey (1)

Due with baby #2: Feb 2022
See, I really like Bridget or Bridgid, but he thinks it sounds boring. I might start looking into gender-neutral names (DD1's first name is gender-neutral), so that'll make it easier to decide either way.

love Emme and Isla.
I have told them ultimately their opinion doesn’t matter, but it has eaten at me.
