Yay my worst nightmare come true 😫. Tornado warning at 1:30am so we're camping out on the floor in our laundry room while I'm freaking tired 🥱 right now

On the plus side, power hasn't gone out yet

@inthewoods23 hope it passed over quick and you're all ok! I remember that from growing up in Indiana-I've huddled in walk in freezers, ditches, basements, etc. No fun, never gets less scary!

I was born in rural Nebraska, and I have such strong tornado memories. Some of my mom waking my sister and I up in the middle of the night when the tornado sirens would go off and we would hustle down to the basement in the dark. Another was when my parents were gone backpacking, we were camping at a lake with friends and a tornado ripped through. We had to hide out in the walkout basement of the convenience store on the lake and the door to the outside was just a ramshackle little screen door. It was terrifying. Dang tornadoes!  :shakes fist at tornadoes:

Based on the radars and news I was looking at, the tornado (or potentially rotating clouds) was further west in our county so pretty sure there was no threat to us at all. You wouldn't even think it stormed last night as we don't have any tree branches down! And our little aspens all appear to be intact. I'll have to check the news again and see if one did actually touch down.

The sucky part was that my parents not even 2 miles west of us had called and that's what woke us up. So I was a bit panicked thinking we slept through the sirens going off since I did have a severe weather alert showing on my phone. A couple minutes later after we had grabbed our blankets, pillows, and the cat and camped in our basement we heard the sirens go off so we moved to our laundry room with no windows to the outside (walk out basement).

@inthewoods23 haha I should have come here first! Our sirens went off at 1:30, too so we were in the basement for an hour. Fortunately, we never lost power. My dogs are idiots though and kept licking the unfinished basement floor and I was like “if I wake up later to either of you puking from this, I’m going to be so annoyed!” 😂
My work is up northwest of the city and the drive here only showed a few downed branches so I agree the worst of it was further west!

@mokay19 we never lost power either and there isn't a single downed branch in our yard so we definitely missed the 75mph winds. Frankly if my dad hadn't called us we might have slept through the sirens and the entire storm and would have thought it completely missed us

@inthewoods23 we woke up to the emergency notice on our phones before the actual sirens outside! Did you guys get any hail? We only got some small pieces for a short amount of time.

@mokay19 as far as I can tell we didn't get any hail. Although it is warm outside so maybe it all melted by this morning lol

@stormageddon-darklordofall I went and lurked the 1st trim board to learn all the drama. the "twinsies/fun/game" thing is for sure annoying. honestly though i was impressed that she turned out to be a decent person in her response to you. Unusual!

For me (barring occasional drama-motivated lurking) I try to avoid the pregnancy boards. Even though my bad luck has thus far only extended to relentless BFNs rather than miscarriages, I know that I'm only going to punish myself by spending much time over there. I suspect that even if I am eventually so lucky as to get and stay pregnant, I will probably stay away from the pregnancy boards because my experience of failing at pregnancy over this past 3 years has, i suspect, ruined me for the "omg this is so FUN" school of being preggers that somehow comes so easily to many. I know it is different for you, because you do have a useful perspective to offer in the pregnancy boards and can be a real resource to the women who need your experience. But it's important to take care of you and part of that is knowing when it's worth surrounding yourself in the fun/balloons/gender reveal/whatever nonsense so you can be present for others who might need you, and when it is not worth it.

@optimistgardener Right?!?  People who ACTUALLY respond and seem to be decent humans sometimes make me feel a bit crappy inside.  But since like 90+% of them don't... meh.  I definitely avoid the BMBs unless I wanna cry myself to sleep or something.  But, I do lurk 1st try and the loss boards, cause sometimes someone shows up who really needs MC help and *good* advice about what to do in a bad possible-loss situation.  And/Plus/Also I kinda like being the Sad Panda who pops newbies *fun* parade to remind them that not everything in PG is rainbows and glitter and unicorns, and that they really NEED to be cognizant throughout EVERYTHING involving their PG and future living children that us bitter hags and bog trolls exist all around them, even if they don't know it.  So they should ALWAYS be aware that not everyone is gushing happiness for them and their offspring, and that even adorable children can cause someone to burst into tears or an angry rant at any possible moment...

@stormageddon-darklordofall i totally hear you. i appreciate your desire to be there for women experiencing a mc or possible mc. i know it can feel good to at least be able to dredge something out of all of this *gestures vaguely in the surrounding vicinity* stuff we have been through (or in my case, perhaps more accurately not been through) to be helpful to others.

Edit: also there is great pleasure to be got from being the party pooper at a super annoying party. And any party that involves a stranger's pee-covered HPT or ridic symptom-spotting is an obvious target.
