@bumblebee0210 yay! congrats on the retrieval going well and good news on the fertilization numbers. I have my fingers crossed you'll get good test results on them. Also haha, thanks for the advice on just settling in to this anxiety business.
@daisy0322 thanks for the explanation! that makes sense.
@acleverusername sorry to hear things sound challenging with the parents. dang. seems like you've had a rough time on the family front of late.
I had my last check-in with the doc this morning before retrieval (scheduled for 10am Tuesday). It's no wonder I'm now beginning to feel a bit uncomfortable because oof, things are growing in there.
My follicles are at 20.5, 20.4, 20.2, 16.8, 15.8, 12.8, and 11.4. I dunno what happened to follicle #8 but that's ok I guess. I suppose those two smaller follicles don't stand much of a chance but considering my largest follicle has grown 4mm in the past 2 days who knows what might transpire. My estradiol level this morning was 907, so a decent jump from my last measure 2 days ago at ~470.
I am busy reminding myself that I will be lucky if I get a couple of embryos that survive to day 5 out of this and even more lucky if one of them is "normal."
I am instructed to take no more drugs apart from my trigger shot tonight at 10.

@gingermama29 I haven’t taken clomid yet but I will be when I do my IUI. I’m kind of surprised too that he is switching it up just based on what I’ve seen from following other journeys on here, but I’m sure he has his reasons? I’ll be curious to hear if you get any more info!
@mokay19 glad your procedure went well too! I’ll probably complain about this in the check-in next week but I was feeling incredibly bloated Wed-Fri and then Saturday morning started bleeding. It’s been on and off since then, so I don’t know if it’s from the procedure or breakthrough bleeding from the BC? It’s annoying though. Speaking of annoying, 7/28 is so long to wait for post-op! I was mad about having to wait until the 19th but ill stop complaining haha. And NO I did not get any pictures! Not fair!
@And346 have so much fun at the beach! I think I remember where you live, are you going somewhere close to home? And yes I frequently like to read books where I don’t have to think but especially on vacation.
@optimistgardener FWIW, I think if you’re going to worry, worrying about things sequentially isn’t the worst strategy. focusing your worry on 1 thing at a time seems more efficient 🙂 hoping time is going by quickly for you until your retrieval!
@acleverusername I’m glad you guys are taking a much needed break away. Good luck peeing!!
@keikilove omg yay for your embryos! You mentioned that you were going to update about your transfer timing but I don’t see it! haha don’t mind the nosy Nellie over here.
@bumblebee0210 glad your ER went well! I’ll have my fingers crossed for those 5 eggs ❤️
@optimistgardener congrats! Those sizes and that number look good! Hoping that the 12 mm can grow 4 more mm in the next 36 hours and hopefully be mature!
thanks @kiwi2628! how're you doing waiting now for the transfer?

86 comments on this thread this week!?! And we are still very active on a Sunday? Proud of this little support group!😊
@bumblebee0210 Congrats on your retrieval! It’s interesting how you said it’s exactly the same result as the first two retrievals, but maybe quality will be better after EPP.🤞🏽 Keeping my fingers crossed that you get great Day 5 results and more normals! Thanks for describing your plans and reasoning about perhaps another retrieval or 2. I totally get that—even more so now that I’ve been through a few myself with varied results. FX that you do get to do a transfer before the end of this year.
@optimistgardener Wow, retrieval seemed to get here quickly! Your numbers sound fantastic. Enjoy the quiet 36 hours with no shots. Try to think positive thoughts and stay zen till Tuesday. We will all be thinking of you from now until we hear your retrieval update.💗
@acleverusername I LOL-ed when you said y’all might move to Seattle! Girrrrlll, the way you have mentioned Bay Area weather many times, I wonder how you’d like Seattle weather? Remember: it’s gorgeous there in summer, but rainy and cold the entire rest of the year! My fam lives there and if they could transport their great job to anywhere less rainy they surely would. Anyway, I hope you’re having a beautiful weekend and enjoying your time away w YH. I hope he’s showing you all his nostalgic stomping grounds with great pride.🥰 Also, yes, this was my best retrieval result so far. We usually lose 2-3 before Day 3 so we are thrilled that this time they all made it at least that far.
@daisy0322 Thank you for sharing that explanation from your doc. That makes a lot more sense. FX that whenever it is time to do the U/S that your body has responded well to the Femara.🤞🏽
@gingermama29 So glad that you had an amazing trip! It sounds absolutely wonderful. I cannot wait until we get to go! And thanks for sharing the info on the Letrozole vs Clomid switch—I hope you have great results this next time around.
@bows22 Hahaha, sorry I said that and flaked! Honestly, I’ve been exhausted since we got home from our trip and have just been sleeping, lying around, doing any work that has an impending deadline, and checking in with you TTGP ladies online. Anywho, the gist of my complicated transfer timing is that I can either go ahead and do a natural transfer of one of our frozen babies at ovulation in 3-4 weeks. OR the more likely scenario is that I can do what my doctors have suggested and wait 6-8 weeks. It’s a lot of info so spoiling it:
1) Dr in MX wants me to do one more hysteroscopy around the next CD 4-6 to make sure everything looks perfect for transfer. 2) RI in Chicago wants me to do the endometrial biopsy that I skipped in May because my local OB couldn’t fit me in on DPO 5-7. The biopsy is specialized and is basically an ERA that checks for immune markers in my lining and let’s the Dr know if I need more or less estradiol, progesterone, prednisone, or other immune meds. So Dr in MX says I should wait to do that so that both she and my reproductive immunologist both feel certain that I’m ready to transfer in the following cycle. 3) Then, I’m leaning toward doing one more final final retrieval or DuoStim because A) I don’t know how many embryos we will ultimately end up with from this latest retrieval (cue the sequential worrying mentioned earlier😉). Right now we have 3 from last cycle but only 2 are best quality, 1 is questionable. And not sure what we will end up with from this cycle (I will probably learn the basic visual grades tomorrow). Dr in MX is giving me the next retrieval at a discounted rate (saving a couple thousand dollars). It seems smart to take advantage since this is likely the very last time I will ever be doing anymore retrievals, period. (If I got KU and then—heaven forbid—miscarried again, I’d move to surrogacy. And my eggs might just be truly too old by then to retrieve anymore successfully.) 4) Aaaaaannndd to make things extra complicated, MH has been adamant that we get our Covid shots before going to the East Coast in August to see family & attend a wedding. I fully agree with him. But I’m not allowed to be on any immunosuppressants for the 2 weeks before vaccine and 2 weeks after because they will keep me from having the desired immune response to the vaccine. Yet, I have to be back on all the immunosuppressants for an embryo transfer to work. So I spent this weekend reviewing the timing and it’s been exactly two weeks since my last IVIg infusion and I got off the very low dose of prednisone this past week. Today we bit the bullet and went and got our vaccines. The timing should work out exactly perfectly to have the second shot, then my next IVIg, then transfer just before we head to the East Coast.
Whew, my brain hurts just thinking about all the juggling we did to get this timing right!😆 Thanks for coming to my transfer timing seminar!
@bows22 I was just complaining to DH last night that my bleeding is so sporadic! Like sometimes there's nothing and I debate not wearing a pad but then 30 minutes later I have a gush of blood. I don't remember this happening last time! Also, I plan to call to see if anything earlier is available because it's just a Zoom meeting. To me, that should be like whenever haha
There isn't a new thread yet his week and I am too lazy to make it, but I just wanted to pop in to say good luck tomorrow @optimistgardener!! Try to take some time to really rest after the procedure, and distract yourself from the inevitable anxiety that follows. Did you decide on PGT testing in the end, or are you going right to transfer?
thanks @bumblebee0210! I'm feeling ok right now, just full of questions about What is Going on in There. Whenever I feel a twinge I worry that I'm ovulating early, and whenever I feel nothing I worry that my follicles have all deflated or something. I am staying at my mom's place after the procedure for a day until I can be trusted to drive home.
As to your Q: The idea is to do PGT testing if I get more than one embryo. If that happens, there will be no fresh transfer and instead I will lobby for a transfer in the fall sometime in order to aim for a possible birth near the end of the spring term. But honestly it is still a bit up in the air as to what I will do if I have one embryo at day 5 and that is all. Mainly, the issue is how to juggle the possibility of pregnancy with my contract to teach for a year. Plainly, convenient schedules fall further down the list of priorities than the hope of being KU, but falling pregnant this month would put me in my 8th month in late winter term (because of my myomectomy, I am informed I must do a c-section by week 35 or risk uterine rupture). This teaching position I landed is my dream job, and I have been told that there is possibility of it turning into a permanent position. I worry that if I wind up pregnant and am unable to fulfill my teaching responsibilities, leaving colleagues to try to cover for me, they may be less than eager to support my return in future years.
All this worry aside, probably if I get 1 embryo I'll just go ahead and do a fresh transfer and, if I get lucky, try to figure out how to explain it to my new employers and hope they are gracious. Ugh.
edit to observe that although I may be an optimist in the garden, i am a worrier in most other realms.
