I bombed my glucose test 😭 so now I have to do the 3 hr test but I'm out of town for a few weeks, so they're just scheduling it for my next ob appt at the end of July.
I know it happens to lots of people and is easily controlled if I end up failing my 3hr test too, but I'm not going to lie, I was a bit disappointed. Given how easy breezy this pregnancy has been I was hopeful for a smooth ride at every milestone. I'm a vegetarian/carb-a-tarian, so it's definitely not super surprising. We'll see how this next appt goes
Had my follow up scan and everything looks great! Baby is measuring large though, 94th percentile and a full week and a half ahead of the EDD. 😳 now I'm concerned I have GD and don't even realize it.
@kandb4@vampirina cal me crazy, but I’d rather fail the glucose test so I know I need to control things. My practice told me to eat protein heavy meals that day but that’s not how I eat. I don’t want to falsely pass something just to make them happy. I’d rather know I have it based on my actual diet and control it. Maybe I’m crazy.

Had a regular appointment today. My belly is measuring on time and her heartbeat is still going strong. I have to schedule my glucose test in a couple of weeks. My doctor scheduled my next appointment in 3 weeks then after that I will down to every other week. It's getting close when every other week starts happening
Had my uneventful 24 week appointment today. Baby's HB was 138, everything else is looking good. My fundal height was slightly larger at 26 cm (I'm 24+3) which never happened with previous pregnancies. I'll be getting another ultrasound at 32 weeks to check on babies growth since its measuring large, but still within the range of normal.
Sigh. Am going in later today because I had some fluid leaking this morning and couldn’t tell what it is. Of course my midwife said it’s basically impossible for her to tell over the phone if it’s amniotic fluid or not. I have a feeling all is well but I’d rather be safe. 😣
Hi all! No fluid detected! Phew. Gosh that had me nervous!! Hubby asked before we got results back what would happen next if it was positive and she said I would be admitted until baby was born. Yikes! That sure scared me. So glad it was normal.
She said baby was most likely head down, putting a lot of pressure on my bladder.
25 week, technically, appointment yesterday. My OB had to reschedule from last week. Baby is doing great, had a good HB and fundal height was good! But my BP was super high, I'm hoping due to a very stressful weekend that I am still dealing with the aftermath from. It did go down from 150 to 132, but now I am just getting all sorts of anxious that it's not from stress but could be something more serious.
Had my 24 week appointment today, too. I was really anxious about his growth but fundal height measured a week ahead. Heart rate sounded fantastic and blood pressure hasn’t spiked yet! 🤞🏼 We talked a lot about the COVID vaccine since I was really holding off on getting but have been feeling more and more inclined to get it. Started crying about the potential risks and benefits while talking to my midwife, who was so fantastic and just let me cry. 🤣 I decided that since I’m already at risk of preterm labor and low birth weight that I can’t add getting COVID and having those risks even more, especially with my school removing all mitigations this week. So, I’m scheduled for my first vaccine just before my 28 week appointment since I’ll have 3 days off before going on vacation that weekend. Excited but very nervous

@chindimples04 COVID is scary - I completely understand taking a pause and thinking about it - I'm glad you had the talk with your OB. Having had COVID myself I can't imagine getting COVID while pregnant. Because vaccination is up for ages 12 and older, more and more cases are now logically being seen in younger patients, including children and infants. I got the vaccine - and I'm hoping it will protect my baby too through antibodies passed from mom to baby... especially there are no COVID vaccines approved <12 years right now. What I do recommend talking further with your MD is managing fever as a side effect of the vaccine. I know in general fever is not good for pregnancy (although not sure if that's trimester related). I took Tylenol to manage my fever but it still got up to 102/103 at some point. Good luck!
@tari_sara I had COVID already while pregnant, two weeks before I was even eligible for the vaccine. I was 4.5 weeks pregnant and it was absolutely miserable. But that was honestly some of my hesitation. There isn’t research, or even a lot of antidotal evidence, that shows side effects and safety of the vaccine in pregnant women who also had COVID during that pregnancy. I know Tylenol will be my only option since Advil is off limits in the 3rd trimester. I am on baby aspirin already, though, so maybe that will help some already! Who knows.

Did my 1-hr glucose test this morning. The Glucola was not exactly tasty, but at least it was cold. Baby boy liked it, anyway. Gonna enjoy my carbs this weekend before the results come back 😆
I have my cardio appt tomorrow to see what my echo and monitor results are. Then Tuesday I have my OB appt but no idea what for. I’m assuming just my 24 week check up.
Grr. Got a 171 on the 1-hr test. That is super disappointing. I am not sure how I will manage a GD diet if I fail the 3. I am still having aversions to most meat and vegetables.
Edit: And now they want me to do the 3-hour this week. I was not prepared for that. Now I'm reeling because I'm not sure how I'm going to do being stuck 4 times. 😢
@noprobalo, I'm so sorry. Good luck with the 3 hour test. It is not fun, but it will be worth it to get it behind you and have solid answers about GD ❤
@galentine It sucked. I've only got two good veins, and they're both in my right arm. So I'm pretty sore and bruised up today. The phlebotomist did her best though. I had lots of work calls, so that passed the time at least. Felt okay through just before hour 2, then got really sleepy and dehydrated. Not sure if that is predictive of anything, but I'm hoping to hear results today or tomorrow and get all this over with.
@noprobalo, ugh I'm sorry. The 3 hour test was tough on me too, last time. I also have crappy veins so I recall being sore and bruised too. 😢 At the 2 hour draw I nearly vomited, and the phlebotomist said the results aren't valid if you vomit, and I'd have to come back another day. So glad that didn't happen! The good news is it's over and you'll have answers soon, one way or another. Fingers crossed you passed!
@galentine They posted my lab results online, and shockingly, I passed on all 4 values. Not sure why the vastly different results. Maybe the low carb breakfast I ate before the 1-hr made the solution stay in my stomach too long.
But I think I'll try to cut refined carbs in any case.
Had my 28w appointment today. Baby is measuring I guess spot on for her dating and midwife is happy with my weight gain so far. About 17-18lbs. Heartbeat 130-135. Shes been head down for a week or so now, since my appointment last week at least to check the fluid leaking that I was having. So I guess she’s not karate chopping but kicking my ribs 😵💫😂 Did the glucose test and I think I passed? It appears anything 140 and above is too high and I got 137.
My hemoglobin is a little low though, 11.1. I’ll be curious to see what she says about that.
@madiirosee yes, that’s a GD pass! She’ll likely just have you start taking an iron supplement. A lot of women become anemic in pregnancy because the blood volume increases but our body can’t produce enough RBC to keep up with the volume increase.

I need quick help! I was going to go for my 1 hour glucose today and I thought I didn’t have to fast but the lab lady said I do? Sooo do I eat breakfast or not to eat?
@k_rn21 might be late to this but no fasting for one hour. And personally, eat your normal breakfast. You don’t want a false pass. If you normally eat cereal, eat the cereal. Undiagnosed GD can be dangerous and it’s better to fail and have a plan than to falsely pass but still have the risks.

@chindimples04 Aren't you definitely going to fail if you eat cereal and then 50 mg of glucose on top of it? I really don't know why they can't just standardize the 1-hr as a fasted test vs. making people guess what/when to eat.
