Please can anyone help me out here with some information?
So I am looking at having my frozen embryos shipped over from South Africa and I reside here in Atlanta, GA but I was told I can not as the frozen embryos are from a donor.
Was told embryos from a donor is not allowed into the US....
How true is this? Does anyone have some info on this please?
I would be most grateful for any info regarding this issue, PLEASE...
Thanks..

  • You'll probably have better luck asking this on the Infertility board. No one currently here (or in the last 3 years) has had embryos from a donor needing to be shipped from another country.

  • **lurking** There are an awful lot of domestic donor embryo programs available right here in the US, so it absolutely is "allowed."  More to the point of your question about shipping donor embryos internationally, I wouldn't know.  If they are a batch of embryos you already began transferring, and you find yourself running into red tape with transporting them back here, it might just be easier to fly back to SA for treatment.
  • Yea BusinessWife, my husband and I have been thinking we may just travel down for the transfer.
Reading all these different articles and considering the 2 roadblocks we've experienced with 2 MAJOR fertility clinics here in Atlanta....we think it would be best to just travel down to SA for the transfer...
