How far along are you?: 13 weeks

    Upcoming appointments: July 9th

How are you feeling?: Starting to feel. . . better?!? I am hesitant to say that I am feeling better bc this feeling is so new, but my aversions seem to be starting to subside and I am tired but not like I was a few weeks ago. Emotionally feeling better too as I get further along in this pregnancy.

Rants/Raves: Rave! Our bar is open again! Wheeeee! This week was absolute chaos but we made it through and it's been crazy and busy. Rant! The bar is open which means I haven't seen my partner in days, he's been working the line and door at the club and he doesn't get home until I am about to wake up 😭I have been manning the house and children while he has been at the bar and it blows. It's such a sudden adjustment back to pre-COVID times which has some good (work, income, people!) and some bad (too much work, less family time). I hope today we are able to spend some time together as a family.

Questions: Compression socks? I usually wear them while I work and when I fly and have a bunch of both coming up. Mine are on their last legs and I want to get some new ones. Does anyone have a brand they like? I did a google search and was overwhelmed with options lol. Bonus points if they aren't geriatric-looking lol.

GTKY: What was your favorite activity as a 10-year-old? I was really into hiking/backpacking/camping/etc. I think a lot of that came from Girl Scouts which I also really loved. I have a lot of great memories of my father taking me camping/fishing/hiking/backpacking. I feel like at 10 there were so many things I was interested in and curious about - right before I turned into a nightmare pre-teen lol.

@bkjade woohoo for the bar being open again! I love that things are getting back to “normal.” I hope you can squeeze in some family time though!
i wear compression stockings a lot but always just get the cheap ones from the drug store 😬

@PYLWhammy - Those are the kind I have too! I am maybe optimistically hopeful that if I invest in a nice pair they’ll last me longer. Mine tend to get runs in them :/

@kaitcrystalline - when COVID first shut things down here in NYC my youngest was 3 and we didn’t leave our apartment for about 3 months 😳 it was difficult to help her understand why we weren’t allowed to do anything without scaring her, but I think she understood the basic idea that it “was to keep everyone healthy”. We did a lot of “rainy day” activities, building forts, art projects, yoga, movies, baking, dance parties. I think we weirdly made a lot of good memories during the time since it forced us to try things that weren’t in our normal routine and be with each other lol.

@rpreston17 aww yay exciting! I feel like it’s going to be forever until mine too. We already know, but I haven’t seen my peanut since 8 weeks. I thought about going to one of those private pay places but now that I’m only four weeks away I might wait and do it early in the third trimester for some cute 3d pictures

@kaitcrystalline ugh that sounds stressful! Glad you guys made it though! I haven’t felt any clear movement either, although I’ve been convinced several times of very faint flutters, but it could’ve been gas I suppose 🙈

@bkjade congrats on the bar opening! I hope you guys adjust quickly and find your new groove with that! I know change is hard, but this sounds exciting!

@bkjade- wow you own a bar?! that is cool, but I am sure the schedule is soo hard for you guys!

@kaitcrystalline- o my, 99 is considered too high?! that is not even high! I am so glad you made it. But ughhh to cleaning a hot house while pregnant!!

How far along are you?: 15+5 today

Upcoming appointments : I had one today. I have been brown spotting since my major bleed 2.5 weeks ago, so thats been stressful. My OB was so great and did the portable ultrasound in the room so we could take a look. My biggest worry has been that placenta is detaching or not attaching right (because they said the placenta causes the bleed/SCH). so far it looks ok, but its kind of just wait and see and hope for no new red bleeding and that baby and placenta keeps growing. My Anatomy scan is in 4 weeks, but they are having me come back in 2 weeks if i want (i can cancel if the spotting fully stops). My scan today still showed an SCH, so I think the spotting will continue.

How are you feeling?: Still very anxious. Everytime I go to the bathroom I am terrified to see red. I am just praying the spotting stops and my anatomy scan shows no more SCH and that baby and placenta looks good.

Rants/Raves:  I know there is nothing i can do really about the spotting, but it does seem more the more i move. yet its impossible to lay around all the time with a toddler. I just want to enjoy the summer fully and really embrace this pregnancy since its likely my last. I feel still too afraid to get too attached.

Questions: is anyone else doing a blood test for neural tube defect screening around 16 weeks? My OB offered it, but i think the false positive rate can be high based on memory. I have enough stress right now, so I declined. if somehow there is an issue its almost always seen on the Anatomy scan anyways...

GTKY: What was your favorite activity as a 10-year-old? Hmm i am guessing it was probably going swimming!!

@bkjade That's so exciting! Congratulations on the business opening!!

@kaitcrystalline I'm so sorry you're having such a difficult move. I believe down to my core that difficult times lead to the wonderful ones. So while this move has proven challenging, once y'all are settled the fruit of your labor will be so sweet. You got this, momma!!

@rgn12 I'm sorry RLP is creeping up on you!! I love that you still have this secret you're keeping to yourself. I don't regret announcing already because I would've let it slip or something, but we held onto our name for a few weeks after deciding and it felt very intimate.

@pharmfam3 I’ve gained 10lbs already. I think everyone is just so different, and even every pregnancy. I didn’t gain weight until like 20 weeks with my first and ate way worse than I am now, but this time is so different! I assume it all levels out in the end?

@mommaduck2490 I finally told work (sort of) today!! I told the most important person and they said they wouldn’t say anything until I was ready. I think I’ll wait until after my 16 week blood work and then announce to them, and then on social media at 20 weeks after anatomy scan!

@scaredunprepared thanks! At 8 weeks I gained 6lbs overnight! I thought it was just bloat, but it never went back down. It’s so weird how that happens sometimes!

@scaredunprepared- I’m so sorry you are having spotting too. It really sucks the joy out of a happy time. I’m impressed by your self control regarding the sex!!

@rgn12- we aren’t ready to announce to the world yet either, but I did tell work. I figured if anything happened at this point they need to know anyways since I would need some time off. Hopefully you will feel more comfortable after the anatomy scan!

How far along are you?: 14w3d

Upcoming appointments: none until my anatomy scan In a few weeks

How are you feeling?: Tired but the nausea has been better

Rants/Raves: My NIPT came back normal! We're so thankful and I only felt mild temptation to look at the sex haha. I am so excited to be team green again. My rant is in randoms

    Questions:

GTKY: What was your favorite activity as a 10-year-old? I loved playing with friends and my polly pockets.

@bkjade - yay for the bar being open again!

@kaitcrystalline - I'm glad you made it safe and sound. I'm sorry the house was a mess and for no a/c

@rgn12 - yay for finally getting the fridge!

@mommaduck2490 - I think I've felt a few flutters as well (it's also my third pregnancy to make it this far at least)

@jamieh2000 - that must be so stressful,. I'm so sorry you're continuing to deal with the spotting. Sending good vibes your way that it stops soon.

@scaredunprepared - stay strong! I can't remember if you've been team green before but it is so worth the wait! Yay for getting your hair done! Compression socks help with swelling and blood return. If you have a job where you're on your feet a lot they are very beneficial. Once I stopped working (as a nurse on my feet for 12 hour shifts) when I was 26 weeks pregnant with my second, I didn't wear them anymore.

@mockingjay1 we chose to find out the sex together last time at the anatomy scan and hubby wanted to do it that way again.  I can't imagine being team green until baby is born!!!  I don't really do much other than run after my daughter, so I guess no need for compression socks.  I am so much lazier this time around!

@PYLWhammy - omg the whining! I thought it was just my kid lol. It has been out of control lately, wth!?!

@brookert615 - ty for the sock rec, i'm ordering them today! They are so much cuter than my current ones!  :)

@JamieH2000 - Totally, it's great but the schedule is tough. It was easier when our youngest was a baby bc we would both work nights and nap and sleep whenever, but now that she's starting school one of us (me) has to be on a normal schedule with her and my partner still works nights so we don't get to see a lot of him.  :'(
I'm sorry to hear about the spotting, that is so stressful. When they diagnosed my SCH it was nice to have a reason for the bleeding but also incredibly anxiety-inducing since there was nothing I could do. I also noticed more bleeding with movement. Glad to hear your OB sounds supportive and hoping for a healed SCH soon.
I signed up for allllll of the non-invasive screenings.

@scaredunprepared - yesssss haircut! That sounds amazing, I need to put one on the calendar soon.
I have worn compression socks for years. They were originally recommended to me by my doctor in my early 20's since I travel a lot, I am an avid runner, and I work on my feet often for 12 hours+ a day and I never looked back. I *knock on wood* haven't had any issues with swelling or varicose veins and I really believe my compression socks have been helpful in prevention. lol I sound like a compression socks salesperson  :D

    @pharmfam3 - your grandmother's birthday sounds so sweet  <3
Yes to finally feeling good enough to exercise! I just got back into my routine last week and it feels so great to be moving again!

How far along are you?: 12 weeks 6 days

Upcoming appointments: tomorrow with the MFM. I should get an ultrasound tomorrow, so I'm pretty happy about that.

How are you feeling?: Better than I was. I still have moments or days when I don't feel great, but I also feel almost normal sometimes and I'm hoping that becomes more of the trend.

Rants/Raves: I'm supposed to go back to the office full time July 18 and I really don't want to.

    Questions:

GTKY: What was your favorite activity as a 10-year-old? Probably reading. I was a nerdy little kid and not athletic at all.

  • Options
@bkjade thanks for the indoor ideas! A dance party is going on my list for sure.

@JamieH2000I'm so sorry you are still having spotting and the anxiety that goes with that. I would definitely keep the appointment in two weeks time even if things subside to give you an extra peace of mind.

@scaredunprepared and @pharmfam3 yay for magical friends!

How far along are you?: 16+4

    Upcoming appointments: July 13th...anatomy scan☺️

How are you feeling?: I’m feeling better. My energy has started to increase. I still need to nap everyday though.

Rants/Raves: Rant: I had gallstone issues during my last pregnancy and I just changed my eating habits instead of getting surgery & the pain stopped! Well, this time around my gallstones pain returned because I’ve been eating horrible since the weekend. I know better (shame on me😩). I put the fried foods down & I’m feeling better.

Questions: Is anyone traveling internationally before your baby arrives?

GTKY: What was your favorite activity as a 10-year-old? I loved being on the step team and dancing.

@mommyb31- I was planning on traveling but my OB just gave me a hard no due to the possibility of Zika. I’m not sure if I want to re-tool my plans to go further north (I wanted a beach!) or wait on travel.
  • Options
@bkjade Wow! I didn’t know Zika was still around. I remember it being really heavy about 4 years ago & we travelled to some places. When I got pregnant with my last baby, I was so nervous about Zika that I went to see a specialist but everything was fine.
