Re: GTKY - Exercise

  • I meaaaaaan not really? But I guess it depends on my mood. Sometimes I enjoy running and I like swimming but I confess, I still doggie paddle. I know how to swim properly just don’t like to. Does dancing count? And I like biking but no uphill terrain please

  • Hiking. I love it and set out every year to complete 52 hikes. I can get myself more engaged in running, weight lifting etc if I tell myself it's hike training
  • Yeah,  I like walks and swimming, don't really have good access to a pool anymore so it's mostly walks nowadays.  I've been trying to add in more strength stuff but it usually just ends up being lifting my 50 lb kid 😆
  • I like walking, weight training (I used to do crossfit style workouts). Ive been trying to do prenatal barre for exercise right now because its too hot to walk outside very long right now, but I'll be honest, I kind of hate it. I need to find something else I'm in to. I can't get motivated to start.

I absolutely detest running, I always have, even though I'm a pretty decent runner. I think its because of cross country training our PE teacher used to make us do in high school. I also only like swimming for fun, I can't go long distances, it's surprisingly very difficult to do like endurance-wise. I commend anyone who likes doing either.
  • +1 for walking. I don't do it nearly as much now since I've been working from home for the pandemic (I work at a hospital campus so we often had meetings in other buildings and they have all these underground routes and indoor pedestrian bridges, so even in bad weather, I could take a decent walk and never step foot outside.

Walking through forests and meadows. I also walk a great deal on the job. I detest other training methods that are energy demanding. The other day, my kid and I walked in a drizzle. It was so fun and she enjoyed splashing into puddles.
  • Distance runner over here! I'm not able to when I'm pregnant due to hip/SI/pelvic pain (so I just do the elliptical...yawn) but when I'm not, a good hour or so run in the morning is my favorite "me time" to clear my head before the kids wake up (always had to pump first though of course 😅)
  • Ballet dancer here! Did a virtual intensive program over the weekend (10+ hours of dance). Definitely a lot harder with pregnancy. I also do yoga, some swimming, and a lot of walking with my dogs!
  • @jenharvey84 I stopped dancing roughly 10 years ago, but I was pretty hardcore when I was schoolaged.. doing ballet summer intensives and whatnot. So, I have an idea of what you're talking about when you say you did a 10+ hour dance intensive over the weekend. I can't even imagine doing that while pregnant! That's amazing.
  • Yoga! I love yoga. I also like to walk, I've always liked it but before my son was born I was a runner as well, it just got too uncomfortable and I never went back to it. Maybe after I recover from this baby.
  • When I'm in shape, I love to run! But that's not me right now so walking and hiking are my fav. I love cardiokickboxing and Kangoo but that got put on hold for a bit since it is too jumpy. I'm so jealous of those of you into yoga, I try so hard but I just can't get into it but I want the benefits! 😩
  • I don't like to run really but that's usually what I do for exercise. I enjoy swimming but have never had pool access. I have done a lot of hiking and sometimes enjoy that. I have definitely been on quite a few hikes that I just wanted to be over.
  • @mayoduck oh fellow ballerina! I danced young but then stopped and came back as an adult and it's such an amazing community of adults who are learning and loving ballet and are so supportive of each other!
