Put on my slippers and grab a bowl of cereal I'm lucky I have the type of job that I can do from home and I've been working from home since the pandemic started. No official timeline yet for going back into the office, though it's looking like probably Fall. I'm hoping to push that a bit so that I'll be home whenever labor starts. When I drove in to work, I often listened to audiobooks borrowed from the library.
Pre-pandemic I used to have to drive into the city and that would take about 40 minutes. I would either talk to my sisters in the phone, listen to YouTube videos or audiobooks.
Now I just roll over in bed lol, but our offices are opening back up after the summer so I'm soaking in all the no commute time joy in now!
I live in a tiny college town so my commute used to ba an approximately 7 minute walk. We moved a couple of weeks ago and now my commute will be an approximately 2 minute walk lol. But when I lived in a big city if I walked or took public transport I would listen to podcasts or read a book (if I was on a train or something), otherwise I biked so obviously that required my full attention.
It sounds kinda sad when I say it out loud but I always call my husband and we just chat for 15-20 minutes - both on my drive in and on my drive home 😅 we get to carpool some weeks as well and that’s my fave. After our call I just listen to the radio and drink my tea on the way in and some water on the way home
I have a 45-60 min drive right now. I usually just jam out to music.
@jackie_dunny when I worked normal hours, I would call people too. My mom, my dad, hubs, brother, godparents… it was my catch up time before I had to go home and make dinner.
My commute is a one mile walk in each direction, which is my pep-up music or audiobook time. The only thing I miss about working in the office. We'll be fully back by September though (hopefully Texas heat will drop off earlier than usual)
When I lived in the city me and my pup would walk to work. About 1 mile each way. We'd have a ritual and get our coffee/his pupaccino and then get on our way. Now I just make my coffee upstairs and use my laptop wherever I feel comfortable, sometimes in bed 😂
My commute is about 30m. The morning is a pump up music session and on the way home it's always a short chat with hubs and either music or a call to grandma. As wierd as it sounds, I need somewhat of a commute to mentally prep for work.... though a 15m walk to work would be awesome too instead of a drive.
My drive is 25 minutes. On the way to work it's early so I sometimes stop to grab a coffee on the way home I usually chat with my husband/kids, depending on the day I might tell him I need to forego to chat and listen to music.
I used to drive up to 170 miles in a day to go to the different nursing homes I worked at. During that time I really got more into true crime podcasts and audible books. I listened to the whole harry potter series in about 2-3 months I think. Now my commute is only 15-20 minutes, but I still just listen to podcasts.
One way is 1h15m for me. I use public transport with several transit points. It definitely includes a 10 min call to hubs both ways. Then I try to learn new stuff, and now it is finances. So I read a lot of internet material on different businesses and it is super interesting now that covid is coming to an end. Ive always liked learning new things on my commute, be it a new crochet pattern or language or how to fix things at home.
SAHM for 5.5yrs now (so no "commute", always on call tho haha!)... but I would just listen to talk radio on my way in and home, sometimes call my mom. Nothing too exciting!

Due: 6 Nov 2021
I have no idea how people talk on the phone in the morning (or ever really)!
