DH is home today. First question is, why? Okay fine, he worked a double so he slept late and he's supposed to be WFH. But I am so used to being here by myself, I cannot handle his constant complaining! He doesn't want to hear my work call on in the kitchen all day, so... I guess I'm using a headset. I literally thought to myself this morning, how happy I am not to have to use the stupid headset. It's not bluetooth, so now it means I'm quite literally chained to my computer, instead of bouncing around the kitchen tidying, doing dishes whatever. Uggh. Huge source of contention all day, like dude! Just give me my space! If he were actually working up at his own desk, or out in the shop, or out on errands, he wouldn't have to hear it, would he...??? WTF
So not only that, but due to aforementioned headset, I had one of those painfully awkward moments where I was trying to switch over and it was on the computer sound NOT MUTED!!!!! :s :s :s So apparently it was echoing, and everyone heard me ask him if he wanted soup!? lol Before finally he breaks down and says to do whatever I want to do. Thank you. I'll go back to using the landline on speaker like I have been for the past MONTH. Grrrrrr...
The day before we found out we were expecting, we went on a hike (which I usually love). DH decides to take a different course home and my back was killing me! Thankfully we made it safely through 7 miles of mountains... which I had anticipated 3-4 miles. I think irritability is my top complaint followed by back pain and both of those were accentuated by a longer than expected hike. Haha. In hindsight it's funny to look back at though!
My neighbor thought it was a good idea to park their car like this. There were no cars in front of our house. Why not just pull up a few feet?! My husband went next door and asked that they move it so it's not blocking our driveway 🤦.
@BusinessWife It's hard when you both are working at home! I'm in the same situation and when my DH wants to vent or talk about something, I'm deep in a project not wanting any distractions.
@BusinessWife ergh I hate when MH does that to me. sharing a WFH space is tough especially if you don't typically do it! @foodlovehappiness we have a similar problem, we rent a garage since our condo complex doesn't have parking, it lets out directly on the street and people park in front of it all the time despite the fact that it has a no parking sign affixed to the garage door. so frustrating!
my WTF: I got hired on from my internship at my job back in late April. supervisor sent paperwork. I was in contact with HR about my start date (yesterday). I get in, nothing is done, then they offboarded my internship so I got locked out of everything for the whole day yesterday because they said they didn't have record of my onboarding. after much complaining and stressing with my supervisor, they finally "found it", but I haven't been upgraded to a master's level yet (there are permissions I need). ughhhhhhhh
Ugh that is annoying @chgilmore Stuff like that has been happening here and there with my new role training. So many different systems we need access to etc. We basically just have to put in the requests and then just "be patient" while they figure it all out behind the scenes... le sigh.
How annoying!? @foodlovehappiness Why??? My first thought was oh, okay well if there's no other spots really, you could still kinda get around? But if there's not even anyone else parked in front of them!??? WTF lol
@lexilougolden That sounds like a nice hike! lol Whoops! I had to dance in an audition the day before I got my first hint that maybe our transfer had actually worked... I was not giving my all really, just to be on the safe side, which, that alone, I felt bad about. But I was at least doing the best I could!!! I wonder if it had been the following week how I would have handled that situation. Spoiler alert: Professional Hip-Hop Dancing is HARD. Especially when you're not anything remotely close to a professional hip-hop dancer lmao
@BusinessWife I feel for you. WFH with my H the last time around (several months ago) was rough. I'm on the phone most of the day with customers and sales people. He found a new space in the house when I would make eye contact as I hit the speaker phone button. It wasn't my finest moment, but I have no regrets lol.
@lexilougolden A hike in the mountains sounds amazing, minus the soreness. It's always interesting to look back and think "Ah, that makes sense now."
@foodlovehappiness How did they think you were going to get out of your driveway?!
@chgilmore That stinks! So you can't work until they upgrade your permissions?
WTF for me: I work with another nutritionist on some of our really big accounts, and today they mixed feed way wrong. He sent an email to our tech group asking thoughts/opinions/suggestions on how to fix it, and I responded not knowing it's also my account. I was talking to the sales guy about it, asking who it was, and he told me it's one of our shared account. So to make it better, the other nutritionist sent me an email about 15 minutes ago telling me about the error. Um, yeah, I already knew about it. Maybe call/email me before sending out a general email to everyone else without telling me? Ugh, it's so frustrating. He does this pretty frequently, despite the fact he does actually like me and considers me his successor when he (finally) retires.
Oh my gosh @makingbacon What a mix up! Do you think it was just a faux pas, like he forgot you were also in that other group and was trying to reach out and get a solution first? It's so annoying when you are dealing with these big companies sometimes whose roles maybe overlap in such a way that one hand doesn't know what the other is doing. :/
@makingbacon ugh! so so so frustrating! like do they not consider that you have to like, do stuff when there are mistakes like that? Yeah, basically I couldn't work until everything got pushed through. it's all good now, but since they have records of my hire start date for the last month, it shouldn't have been like this.
@BusinessWife I'm on a team of 8, and we all do our own stuff, but we all work together, too, if that makes sense? When we send customer emails to the bigger group, we leave them anonymous, but he definitely knew I was on the email. He does this a lot, unfortunately. I call him out on it periodically, but it would've been really awkward next week in our customer visit when the customer brought it up, and I'm sitting there like "That was you?!"
@chgilmore That's so crazy that they did that when you should've just been able to keep rolling. Instead you spent your time trying to get everything back.
@foodlovehappiness whyyy??? How did they think you were going to get out? I don’t understand how people can be so oblivious or inconsiderate.
@chgilmore I’m glad everything got sorted in the end so you can get started!!
my WTF for today was the check engine light on my car (it’s a 2019 we’ve owned for less than 2 years) was flashing at me like hey this is urgent! So I called my husband and then the dealership and spent 25 minutes on hold listening to a recording telling me I'm the next customer in line with both my kids sitting on the side of the road because idk if I should be driving at this point and we live in the middle of no where with no cell service for like 5ish miles around our house. I finally hung up and just went home when my husband got to me so at least he could follow us in case the car just died or something dramatic. I’m not looking forward to dealing with that in the morning.
@BusinessWife I feel like we need a WFH with kids thread lol I work from home on Wednesdays because our sitter doesnt watch kids on Wednesdays. Im working and I get a call from my co-worker and we are talking through a problem and I hear DD call from upstairs "Mommmmyyy!!!" I mute the call and tell her "You have to wait!" unmute, I did this three times and then I decide to go upstairs to see whats so urgent.... she pooped, she needed me to wipe her butt and since I was telling her to wait she tried to do it herself and omg there was poop everywhere! Im on the phone with my coworker still and I said "OMG theres poop everywhere, I gotta go".
Oh no!!! @livingoffpbjs I can see something like that happening in our house. A couple times I have gone up there and found her diaperless with tinkle in the potty, and once with half the top drawer pulled out and strewn around the floor! But she had managed to find the pack of wipes she was looking for, and must have wiped herself and dropped it into the potty! I'm so proud of how she's getting it! ...But we are not quite at the poop stage yet... :s Yikes!!!
@fuscok88 that's so wild! please keep us posted, I hope it's nothing serious with the car. @livingoffpbjs omg! anyone who says wfh is always easier clearly is out of touch from the reality of working parents!
Update on the dealership/car drama. So my check engine light came on briefly last week and I called the dealership to have it checked and they said the next appointment wasnt until July. I made the appointment, went home and the light went off. So when it started flashing yesterday I was like wth!?! I finally got ahold of someone today after another 30 minutes on hold to be told they should have had my vehicle in immediately last week and now I need to have it towed to them and they’ll at least see what’s wrong with it within 24-48 hours before deciding the time frame on fixing it etc. This is the only vehicle we have that the kids can ride in so when I said I can’t really be without a vehicle for an unknown time frame she was like oh well you can rent one for $35 a day🙄🙄. Now I’m waiting for my husband to get back to me before I tow it because my BIL is a mechanic so it’s possible he would be able to check it out faster but then we’d be on the hook for repairs where at the dealership we’re under warranty. The point of buying a new vehicle was to avoid these kind of car problems 😡
@fuscok88 how aggravating! Hopefully they’ll get it fixed soon! Have you called your insurance? Since it’s new I’m assuming you have full coverage and usually there is a rental option. Idk if it would apply to this situation, but it might not hurt to call!
@fuscok88 that is so irritating! I'd be so mad. glad you're under warranty, that is simply wild that they are so unhelpful though. definitely agree with @photographerwife that insurance might cover a rental, especially since it's under warranty. never hurts to call (except for the time it takes to get through the phone tree)
@fuscok88 the dealership should give you a complimentary car. I feel like my friends husband who works at dealerships said they should have to do that but I’m not sure. Ask a manager?
I did call insurance but they would only cover a rental if it’s a repair happening under an approved claim. They were super helpful with giving all information I could need though and told me to call back if once my car is inspected if it’s something not under warranty and I want to file a claim.
We’re still waiting on a tow from my house but depending on what is wrong with it/how long they anticipate a fix taking I’m going to insist on a rental/taking to a manager because we can’t even go pick it up when the repairs are done without calling someone to watch our kids and I live an hour from the closest family. We have an 89 GMT400 but it only has a front bench seat so we couldn’t fit everyone and probably couldn’t safely install car seats anyway. My husbands solution was eff that dealership, let’s go buy something else and sell the Yukon when their done repairing it😂.
Car update and another wtf on a Friday? So the dealership called this morning to “check in” my Yukon and said ok we’ve made your appointment for July 2nd we’ll look the car over then and call you with the repair estimate. Uhm nope sorry that’s not going to work for me. I said the person I talked to yesterday assured me it would be at least looked over within 24-48 hours and he was like well that’s just not possible July 2 is our soonest appointment. I let him know i would be contacting gmc corporate because being given a different answer AFTER I towed my car to them was complete BS. I would have taken my car out in town if I knew it was going to take at least a month to get it back. The $1,000 they want me to spend on a rental could have gone to someone in town or my BIL (a mechanic) would absolutely would have driven down to fix it sooner than one month. So corporate basically brushed me off and are “reviewing” my complaint. So my husband finally intervenes and calls himself because clearly they’re not going to do anything for me. Tell me why he gets right through to a manager who gets him an appointment June 15. He was on the phone less than 20 minutes. Why does having a penis get him faster/better customer service!? 10/10 do not recommend GMC based on their customer service alone and I’m pretty confident I’m going to buy something different whenever I get my car back. Who has a 3rd row vehicle they love??
I was just looking at this type of info @fuscok8 like reading the various ratings lists. I have always wanted a Tahoe. 😍 Or I'm not sure if the Grand Cherokee might work for bigger families too... Sigh. Anywho, apparently there is a Subaru though, a Volkswagen, and the Kia telluride got some of the highest marks for third row, but I was also looking as lists for three across. I'm so sorry you're going througg all this nonsense and it sucks getting YH on the phone is what it took to be heard!
@BusinessWife my friend has the Subaru ascent and is loving it but she said she can’t rear face the 3rd row. My 2yo is still RF so I was hoping to keep him that way a while longer. In my Yukon I have captains chairs and could maybe fit a Extend2fit RF in the 3rd row or load my older son through the back. I really do love my Yukon especially with a bigger family and currently 3 dogs (we’ve got a foster pup and the moment) but the customer service at GMC is killing it for me.
oof, that is interesting. @fuscok88 That is so bizarre and I wonder if there is a good way to figure that out for sure ahead of time, I guess besides a test drive. lol I notice it says something about the Ascent only having tethers, where the other vehicles it says so many latches, so many tethers. I am wondering what the Durango would be like too. We love our dodge pickup and any time we have needed service from the dealer, the local place has been great. IDK for sure, but I can actually fit 3 across rear facing in our 2500.
@BusinessWife I think more tethers is better than more latch/lower anchors. You can install a car seat both RF and FF without lower anchors but you shouldn’t install a FF seat without an a tether. I’ve read there are very few vehicles with a 3rd row you can RF in, there usually isn’t enough legroom/space without touching the seats of the 2nd row. I read a lot about them when I bought the Yukon because I was watching my 2yo nephew frequently at the time and couldn’t 3 across my RAV4. I love Dodge. I had a 1500 in college and it’s still my favorite vehicle I’ve owned. My husband has a weird grudge there😭 He’s a diehard Chevy guy lol.
You can always ask in Car Seats For The Littles on Facebook if you want seat suggestions from CPSTs for 3 across in the Durango or the pickup but the pickup should 3 across fine. My parents have one now and we’ve put all 3 grands in it before, 2RF, 1FF.
I'm not on FB but I wonder if they have questions posted on their website? @fuscok88 The truck is great for just us, but with three across in the back I will have to sit up in the front seat with DH <<eye roll emoji>> j/k but there's no trunk for all the stuff, and I usually sit in the back with the girls when he's driving. We also have dogs and the little one is fine, but we will need to upgrade at some point so I can actually transport everyone (dogs included) if need be, go shopping, hypothetically etc. DH keeps saying we have to get me something, but I don't think he realizes how lucky we are that - for the time being at least - we can actually fit them all safely in our current vehicle, (or that his brilliant wife may have actually thought of this and researched seats that would work 3x for our vehicle long before we even got pregnant lol)
Hrm, looks like this link just talks about actual seating, not any specific vehicles... <a rel="nofollow" href="https://csftl.org/three-across-update/">https://csftl.org/three-across-update/</a>
Welp, I just fell down a rabbit hole looking at convertible carseats! lol Of course the one I found to DD is discontinued and the newer versions cost close to double what I paid for hers. BG is just 29" now, but nowhere near the 30 lbs limit on her baby seat. I feel like this happened with DD too, where she outgrew the height much sooner that the weight, so I just kept using it till she seemed to be closer to actually topping out the weight part, too. You think that's fine? Like if you had a 30" / 20lb baby, would you size up their seat, or wait till they were closer to 30 lbs?
I’m so sorry, I’m clearly very bored and lurking but just wanted to add that I think The Car Seat Lady is a better resource for vehicle selection, CSFTL is more about getting you safe with what you already have
Also @BusinessWife the limits are an “OR” situation. It’s outgrown when they reach ANY listed limit. Most infants do outgrow the infant seats by height before weight.
Ah, cool @bows22 Unfortunately, it doesn't look like she has much info on my vehicle, and we really don't know specifically what / when we may finally switch. So just sticking with what I know I have... (I could have sworn the MaxiCosi was on this list I have for my vehicle from car crash detective, back when I was shopping in the first place. Long time ago it was the Pria 70, which is discontinued, and now the 85, which is quickly turning into the Magellen.) ANYWHO - the 85 I like because it is FF to 85 lbs, but RF only till 40, which I know is pretty standard. Right now, I might be leaning towards getting the Extend-2-fit and just swapping them around. So DD can go into the Extend 2 Fit and stay RF till she's 50 lbs, and when it's time to turn FF, they can swap back and she can sit FF in the Maxi-cosi, and BG enjoy the additional 10 lbs RF. I may still get a third maxi cosi then for this baby, so then the middle baby can eventually go FF in the second seat that goes up to 85, leaving the baby still RF in the Graco till 50 lbs. And then once they go FF they can stay in that till 65 lbs, presumably the oldest might be ready to switch to a booster or something at that point. That'll be however many years down the road, so we can reassess as we go. But I think that's maybe the best plan that lets us maximize RF time, as well as FF seat life at the same time.
I think the other question in this scenario is will the baby get to 40 lbs before the middle child gets to 50? Because then two extend 2-fits means they both just RF in that till 50 lbs and then flip it around, done deal. But I just think the maxi cosi is such a nice seat, and cosi, I would love for both DD and BG to be able to ride in one for a good long time. I know it's impossible to guess, but I *think* at around ages 8.5, 6.5, 5, they *might* be about 60 lbs, 48ish, 40ish... so it's kind of a tossup. Baby girl is about 75% for weight, and DD is more like 90%. But if this baby sibling is on the bigger side too, or a boy, then at 18 months apart, the baby *could* get to 40 lbs before BG hits 50. :/ I think it might be close enough though to just go for it. 85 lbs seems / 11+ years old seems like a crazy long time though to still be riding in a carseat! I don't think my niece has even had a booster or anything for a long time... Weird. ETA anyway, I would still wait as long as possible to buy the third convertible so we maximize our time to the expiration date. Why do you need like actual calculus to figure this stuff out!??? lol <img alt="Confused Math Lady GIFs Tenor" src="https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fmedia1.tenor.com%2Fimages%2Ffb3f2d1e814190100a4ae401b1660d5b%2Ftenor.gif%3Fitemid%3D6081931&f=1&nofb=1" title="Image: https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fmedia1.tenor.com%2Fimages%2Ffb3f2d1e814190100a4ae401b1660d5b%2Ftenor.gif%3Fitemid%3D6081931&f=1&nofb=1">
@BusinessWife I wouldn’t worry too much about baby getting to 40 before DD2 gets to 50 because at that point if DD1 is FF, DD2 is probably going to be asking to be FF anyway and you might not last the whole way until 50. Although it’s harder for me to really judge what ages they will be at 40 and 50 since DD is in like the 10% percentile and only 27-28 lbs at 3.5. Our seat only goes until 40 but it’s going to be forever until she reaches it, so we are going to at least make it until 4 and then re-evaluate (but most likely turn her at that time).
@BusinessWife@bows22 is right it’s an either or situation in height/weight limits. My oldest has maxed the height on every seat he’s had without ever getting close to the weight. I actually just ordered him a new FF seat because he outgrew the harness on his Diono and I want him harnessed still. He‘s 4 (5 in July) and 46” tall, 48 pounds.
The extend2fit is one of the trimmest options I think. I’ve heard so many people rave about the maxi cosi too! We need a new seat for baby. My bucket from my oldest would have expired before this minion arrives so we gave it away. I’m so excited to be browsing baby stuff again😂 I’ve been comparing car seats for days. I really like the Evenflo Revolve 360. It seams like such a neat option to be able to swivel the seat to get your kid installed easier.
@BusinessWife we have the graco extend to fit with my 3.5 year old boy. He’s a big boy though, always been in the 90%+ percentile. I wanted to keep him rear facing longer but ended up Turning him last summer at 2.5 because even though the seat will go higher to accommodate, he was so tall that the seat was blocking the view of my passenger side window and blind spot in my GMC Terrain. It’s a nice seat, but it is big. I couldn’t fit 3 in the backseat of my vehicle. My MIL has a Nissan kicks and you can’t even fit two adults in the backseat with the car seat without literally sitting in each other’s lap. But it is convertible, 5-65 lbs I think and will be our last seat until we need a booster. Unless we have an accident of course. I used the Chicco 30 when he was a newborn and it was pretty big too.
