Please introduce yourself and share as much (or as little) as you would like. Once you're ready, feel free to jump into any of our daily/weekly threads to participate in the community!
Ages (you and SO):
How many months have you been TTC?:
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?:
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.)
How many months have you been TTC?: First month actually trying and not just NTNP.
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?: The usual plus digital ovulation tests. I tried using the cheaper tests, and I am not good at determining line colors.
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.): We are currently trying for baby #3. I've been pregnant 5 times and have 2 little boys ages 4 and 1. As the name suggests, my super power is making bacon. I have worked with pigs in some capacity for 13 years.
I have a lot of anxiety with TTC and pregnancy because of our 3 losses (2 first trimester losses + blighted ovum), so hoping a community of women will help. The women in my life mean well, but if I hear "At least you can get pregnant" one more time, I may legitimately scream. I did want to ask before completely jumping in if it's okay for me to post in the TTCAL thread? My last pregnancy resulted in my 1 year old, so wasn't sure how that thread worked. I certainly don't want to hurt anyone inadvertently by posting in the wrong place(s).
@makingbacon welcome! As an unfortunate member of the TTCAL thread, I personally don't mind, but I don't know about how others will feel so I'll leave it up to everyone else. I definitely would not mention your living children in that thread unless really relevant to the conversation, the same as most of the other threads as well. We also have a TFAS (trying for a second/sibling) thread where mentions of living children are obviously welcome, no spoilers or TW necessary.
I've only been in the TTCAL thread since November, but I want to say that as far as I can tell those that are/have posted in the tread have experienced a loss during the course of TTC for baby # whatever they were currently on. But also, the board as a whole isn't as busy as it has been in the past likely due to Covid so perhaps when I first joined here over 2 years ago any who had experienced a loss at any previous time would participate. I don't have a problem with you joining that thread especially if you still feel the anxieties and worries associated with having losses in your past.
*TW* History:

@makingbacon Welcome welcome! I hope you'll find our community welcoming and friendly. I totally get the "at least you can get pregnant" thing (even though I'm in the "I wish I could at least get pregnant) as in my fertility therapy group, I have a couple of members who just don't get excited any more when they get a + HPT given their losses. It's a different kind of hell, but hell nonetheless. Anywho, hopefully you can be on your way to a BMB soon!
@makingbacon Welcome! Look forward to getting to know you and hope your stay is short and sweet. I know how much the “at least you can get pregnant” can sting, especially when dealing with loss anxiety. I’ve personally felt most comfortable in the TFAS thread because my experience is similar to yours and I have not experienced a loss specific to this TTC season. Many in the TFAS thread have also experienced previous losses. Best of luck and I hope you find some great support here!
@inthewoods23 I'm so sorry you're part of the TTCAL group. I will lurk there for a bit and try to read the room before posting in there. My oldest is a rainbow baby, and my youngest is a double rainbow baby, so the anxiety is real.
@pajamstagrams Thanks for the suggestion. I will start off in TFAS group and see from there where I fit. I plan on posting in the daily update posts, too, but wanted to wait until my period starts early next week. I was planning on introducing myself then, too, but I got a tad excited to make friends lol.
@acleverusername My anxiety will most likely get the best of me, even though I'm hoping it doesn't. If you don't mind me asking, what is a fertility therapy group? I'm assuming it's exactly as the name suggests, but wondering more how someone would find/join a group like that?
Welcome! @makingbacon I'm sorry for your losses, and Congratulations on your rainbow! I would agree with PPs that if you are having TTCAL issues / anxieties popping up, it would be appropriate to share on the TTCAL checkin. However, I would advise extreme caution to do one's best to address those issues on that thread, outside of the context of your living children. There is a TFAS thread where members can chat about the LCs, just as there are Randoms, and Dailies, and Questions etc. So just getting a feel for which kind of posts go where I think will go a long way and you'll be fine. I have had multiple losses / failed transfers, and I absolutely CANNOT just get pregnant on my own, but I think they are just different brands of grief, kwim? Either way, you're in the right place. :) And you're obviously in the right line of work, because
@makingbacon definitely understand wanting to jump right in and make friends! I came back to this group within a week of my recent loss. The support is really, really great here, don't let any of the salty, angry drive-bys convince you otherwise! 🙂
@makingbacon you’re right, fertility therapy group is exactly like it sounds. I was lucky enough to be referred to a fertility therapist who leads a 6-week group called “resilience for the fertility journey”. In it, I met 4 other ladies who were in various parts of the TTC journey, some undergoing IVF, others dealing with RPL, etc. After the official therapy sessions concluded, we’ve kept meeting every other week. These ladies have been a saving grace in my life. TB is a great support system, and I thank God I ended up here last year when looking for TWW support; but having a group of ladies you can relate to IRL is also immeasurably beneficial. We’re actually planing our first in-person meeting next weekend since - to date - all our meetings have been via Zoom. You may want to google if something like that is offered locally. That's what I needed, to be surrounded by chicks who really do get it, saying sit down sweetie and wait to test or for AF like the rest of us. Lol. How little did I know the women I met here would basically save my life when we got our diagnosis. I find myself at a loss for words.
This is an amazing place to be. ❤️👍 I didn't have an IRL support group (although my BFF ended up going through IVF at basically the same time as us, interestingly enough), but the women here became my tribe, and they have been enough. By all means seek out other resources as well, as you feel so inclined! But you're definitely off to a great start right here in TTGP, imho.
