My multi tasking these past couple days has legit included keeping my personal laptop running on the center island, while my work computer is going on the side bar.  I haven't decided if this is better or worse than last week's Poldark marathon, but I think Poldark was not *as* bad, since I was just working on web courses and I could kind of listen to the show and work at the same time.  I'm totally still listening to the call on my phone, but I need to keep popping back over and make sure the machine doesn't time out on me too much.  :# :# :#
  • Loading the player...
  • We don't have a pet rat, but there is some kind of large mouse or something that thinks it owns the place!  DH saw it (a little too up close and personal) and we thought it was more like a vole / field mouse, but the internet says they don't tend to some in the house?  He doesn't actually come INTO the house, but he has an awesome crawlspace from outside under the porch and straight into the floors / walls of our house.  :#  :#  :#

If it was maybe almost cute at first, it's kinda starting to skeeve me out.  And the best part is, we rent, and the landlord is some kind of hippy nature preservationist, so we're pretty sure (based on past experience) he's not going to do anything about it.  Did I mention we are hoping to move soon???  Ughhh

Yeah, I think that would be time to move as well.  ETA MIL made the mistake of telling me a story about finding a mouse in the salad spinner once, and now I can never take mine out of the cabinet without nervously peeking inside...  :#
  • @jlbaker08 I feel like rats just get a bad rap for the infestation/hygiene problems...
    Um, yep, exactly.🤣
  • our rats get the occasional warm bath and fluffy towel rub down... so despite smelling a little like rodents, they're pretty clean
I *DO* set mouse traps in the garage for the unwelcome visitors.  I feel like wildlife (spiders included) that finds it's way into the house uninvited is unacceptable.  If I invite it in, that's a different story.

@jlbaker08 Aw! Cute. My sister had pet rats and they were so cute! They could do tricks and were kind of like really small dogs lol. That said, we had a wild rat problem at our house and it was traumatic. Pets are okay with me though.
  • I would not personally own a pet rat but I always love meeting them when owned by others (most pets, honestly). I also love animals and critters and even insects, but y'all, stay outside in your space. You really don't want to be living in my house, and I did not invite you here. I am catch and release for most insects if I can catch them and know they are harmless; obviously killing scorpions and such. But sometimes a garden spider will come inside and I have to go put it back in the garden.

Ants, however, are my nemesis and I will destroy them. Stay out of my house.

I don't really have any confessions of my own this Friday.
  • OTOH @bows22 FFFC - I hate that the thread has continued throughout this week :D

Or is this going to turn into something ridiculous and be a thread that continues for weeks and weeks?

  • FFFC:  I can't for the life of me remember what FOMO means.  I have googled it (more than once), and I think i get the jyst of the meaning, but idk why for some reason the acronym just refuses to stick.
  • @BusinessWife I feel this way about FTW. In my head it definitely means F*ck the World, which is incorrect.
  • kgg2241kgg2241 member
@anniemarie887 I love that 😂. I am always going to think that know.

I have no idea what OTOH means. Off to Google I go...
  • @kgg2241 lmao OTOH is "on the other hand". Took me a while to remember that FWIW is "for what it's worth". GBCB rarely comes up and I always have to look it up

@anniemarie887 frankly that's way better than "quoted for posterity" because the crazy posts are always quality content haha

new FFFC - I told my coworker that after a meeting I would be "offline" to work on a presentation and another document that's assigned to me. I've spent the last half hour watching Youtube and likely won't really get to working on the things I actually should be working on because it's Friday and unmotivated. But at least I can have the excuse that I wasn't answering anything in the afternoon because I was doing focus time. Plus our boss is on PTO so *shrug*

@BusinessWife FFFC: I don’t recognize a lot of the acronyms you use. I often have to stop & think about it before I realize what you mean.😆FOMO is Fear Of Missing Out. @rachelredhead I *think* we usually use FTW here to mean For The Win. Although your interpretation is excellent!😁
@inthewoods23 GBCB always stumps me, then makes me laugh when I realize it’s a “Goodbye Cruel Bump!” dramatic post.
FFFC: I still don’t get what an AW post means. I’ve never looked it up. I get the gist but don’t know what it stands for.
@inthewoods23 I am oddly amused by the Word Association thread continuing this long. I’ve never seen one make it past Sunday afternoon.😆

@keikilove  ATTENTION WHORE!!!!!  OMG we used to get soooo many quality driveby AW posts.  Also, back when you used to just post your own personal grad thread, we would call it @keiki's AW BFP Thread or whatever and that was your time to shine!! :D
  • @bows22  Ah, thank you! Makes perfect sense!

@BusinessWife “And that was your time to shine!”🤣🤣🤣🤣 Oh, how things have changed! I can’t even imagine seeing a bunch of those AW BFPs posted here. A bygone era...
  • Yeah, I mean considering we get like, one every other week maybe? sadly I don't think they'd be in any danger of taking over the board.  I wish we all had that problem right about now!!!! @keikilove
  • I got invested in the word association just to see how long it would take @BusinessWife to come back around to balls. 😂
