Re: Flame-Free Friday Confessions 4.30

  • @gingermama29 That has got to be so weird to be a meme / gif!???  I read a whole story about a girl who became several reaction-face memes and leveraged it into a whole new career! Lol<div>

Mine is, the last couple afternoons, while semi trying to work on random trainings, I was also semi catching myself up on Poldark. 🙈</div>

@gingermama29 That’s exactly why I used this meme—I couldn’t believe she’s already grown up! And good for her for finally making money off of this popular meme.

My FFFC is related to the recent WTO thread about all things period products: I love OB tampons. I know lots of people think they’re gross, eeewww no applicator, etc, but those bad boys are the only thing that’s ever kept me from having surprise leaks. My sister recently had to borrow a tampon and when that was what I gave her she made a grossed-out face. The next day she was like, “Those things are amazing!”
  • @keikilove I'll admit, I used to be super skeeved out by OB tampons because they have no applicator... however, now I use a cup and have to fish that bad boy out with my fingers anyway.  It all comes back around eventually

  • @jbaker08 Yes, very similar! I guess this FFFC could’ve been posted in the UO thread yesterday. Except we were so busy discussing our likes & dislikes of bananas, ketchup, etc, that this topic wouldn’t have quite fit in.😆
  • @BusinessWife Poldark 😍😍😍

@keikilove If they work for you, then go for it. I don't know for sure, but I bet they are cheaper than tampax. Maybe I should give them another shot.

I feel like my FFFC that goes along with the discussion of the week and above, is that I don't find pads to be all that horrible. I probably use them as often as I do tampons. Just whatever I feel like in the moment. I have a light flow so maybe that is why.

@jlbaker08 same 😂. I actually haven't used one of those apps in years because because I either forgot to log stuff or fudge my numbers.
  • +1 for Ob over here @keikilove
  • @keikilove 100% on OB. Half the time with an applicator I’d be messy/readjusting anyway so applicators just aren’t worth it to me. Plus they’re so tiny, so easy to tuck in a pocket.

My confession is that I may occasionally turn down the volume on recorded trainings at work and just read a book instead. Sometimes I just don’t care about another “learning opportunity.” This confession is really weak. Really need to spice up my life.

I can't remember if my mom actually first encouraged me to use them or not?  I just remember being traumatized by those cardboard ones as an adolescent, when I was first trying to figure it all out...  😖😖😖 Not only do you have less waste / garbage without the applicator, I have never once injured myself doing it that way, and if you are trying to be discreet, it's way easier to palm or stick in your bra, and the wrapper is totally unnoticeable in somebody's wastebasket as well.  What's not to love!???
  • @jlbaker08 lol exactly. No matter what when taking out the cup I look like I cut a finger. Forever messy. Oh well.

Only this last prescription of progesterone suppositories did I not have applicators. It's not hard to insert but I did lose my hold a few times and I always worried I wasn't going to be able to shove them up far enough that they wouldn't fall out on my walk back to bed ha.

  • @kgg2241 same. I only use pads. I've tried tampons on and off over the years, but I've never been able to get them in comfortably. I did just buy a pair of Thinx period panties (Target has them for $17/pair online if anyone else is looking), so we'll see how they work for me. If they can stop overnight leaks, I'd be over the moon.
  • @fantasyflyte I have a couple pairs of Thinx. I really like them! I don't believe they could actually replace a tampon like they claim, but I like them for backup. Plus they are super comfy.
  • @fantasyflyte I use Thinx exclusively on my period, no tampons or pads. They have a range of absorbency so overnight I use the sleep shorts for max protection. I think they’re great!
  • FFFC: I have never used a tampon. Ever. I was given pads when I started my period, and that's what I've been using for 19 years.
  • @fantasyflyte thank you for the intel on Target having them for $17!  I definitely just ordered some for myself

and for my 10 year old, who yes, as crazy as it sounds, needs them too.  talk about a life saver for someone who hasn't figured it all out yet!

  • @jlbaker08 oh my word, yes! I wish they’d had them when I was learning all the Stuff. Would have saved me some tears (flashback to white shorts, six flags log flume ride, calling my mom from a pay phone sobbing).
