Noteworthy weekend recap? We finished the garden beds! Soil delivery happened on Friday, they dumped 5 cubic yards on our driveway (the size of our small car basically...) and DH painstakingly wheelbarrowed hundreds of trips of soil over to the beds. HOLY. Glad that's over. Now for planting
Week ahead thoughts? This week of virtual work/school, we are invoking the grandparents. Grandma and Grandpa committed to taking DD for a couple of days this week. Such a huge relief, she's starting to go stir crazy and she's paying less attention in her online classes (she's 4...). Don't think we'll get the repeat star performance from last week.
Anything new with pregnancy? Symptoms? No more spotting, and I feel relief from the last beta. Now I'm just patiently (hah) awaiting the first US! Two weeks away. I also booked a Covid shot, it'll be two days after my first US. I was vaccine hesitant until I caught a cold everyone else had, which turned into like a bronchitis for me. I clearly have sad lungs. I'm feeling better but I'll have a lingering cough for a couple of weeks. ETA: The nausea attacks randomly, food usually helps even though it's repulsive while I feel nauseous. I know it's coming when I get dizzy and flustered. Ugh. One symptom I haven't had at ALL is breast tenderness. That was my first symptom last time so this is a real shock! Anyone else totally fine in the chest?

Noteworthy weekend recap? I worked all weekend. It was kind of stressful, especially with me feeling worse physically. I also thought I may have spotted the tiniest barely noticeable amount on Saturday and immediately flipped out. Nothing has happened since then, so trying to stay calm. My PGAL brain is just soooooo anxious and screwing with me.
Week ahead thoughts? I have my first appt on Thursday. I will have an ultrasound, new ob meeting with the nurse, and then likely a regular pelvic exam and such with a provider. I can’t believe it’s finally here, but it also feels like an eternity. Fingers crossed for good news. I am also hoping to talk more about the covid vaccine at this appt, since I wasn’t able to get it before I conceived.
Anything new with pregnancy?Symptoms? I have been feeling so sick randomly. I almost threw up the other day from sweet potatoes, and then just now my stomach got so upset randomly during a call for work that I thought I was going to have to abruptly leave. I’ve taken B6/Unisom for the last few nights, but I’m not sure if it’s helping. My main symptoms right now are nausea, gastrointestinal issues, bloating, headaches, dizziness, fatigue, discharge, some mild stomach cramping, breast tenderness, and being more emotional than usual!
Noteworthy weekend recap? 15 mo son had a rough bout with a ? teething? fever so a fairly restless weekend for us. He's feeling much better today.
Week ahead thoughts? Busy week at home, need to catch up on some home repair things. Looking forward to finally having first prenatal next week, yay! Hoping everything is going well. Starting to look into where to deliver bc last delivery in Brooklyn was uh not a good experience 🙃 going to try a stand alone birthing center this time I think. I'm procrastinating until the first prenatal visit I think...
Anything new with pregnancy? Symptoms?
Symptoms are mostly similar to last pregnancy- exhausted lol and general nausea (though super grateful no actual vomiting- maybe got lucky with still breastfeeding 15 mo old?). Dealing with some prenatal depression, but hoping the cloud will lift 2nd trimester like last time 🤞Breast tenderness too (which is less than ideal with the nursing big ouch, def being more aggressive with the weaning bc of it lol)
Noteworthy weekend recap? Eh, I feel like we didn't do too much this weekend -- got out the pool and let DD splash around, went 'red shopping' (DD's term for Costco trips; Target is "real tiny red shopping" and Publix is "green shopping") --- oh and our main oven died on Sunday, yay! Fortunately I have a second oven below the microwave (yes, I love to cook so much that I sometimes need two ovens) -- but it's not really very good and I've been waiting about...30 min now for it to come up to temp for baking lunch (spinach pockets). Still not at temp.
Week ahead thoughts? Another ultrasound on Friday - first of my last two before graduating! FX! I'm actually starting to feel a bit more confident now that I've had two good scans but that anxiety is still there. It's hard for me to not feel anxious since the stakes seem so high -- moreso than I felt with DD because now I know how much I will love and treasure this little baby. With DD, I had no real point of reference.
Anything new with pregnancy? Symptoms? Nothing seems good to eat even though I feel hungry! I have to force myself to take a few bites of food or eat some saltines. And just super super tired. I constantly have that "tired" feeling you have the next morning after not sleeping much. Of course, I feel really bloated but I doubt that's going to go away any time soon.

@PrettyPalomino Yay on finishing the garden beds! That's awesome you're able to get some help this week. So happy to hear the good news! Waiting for the US is hard! And I'm not experience breast tenderness as much as nipple tenderness? Last time it was an overall soreness but I noticed that as well!
@rgn12 Sorry for the rough weekend and the scare! Hoping Thursday goes well!!!
@pinkiswhereallofitstarts Sorry about the rough weekend - glad he's feeling better! Hope you're able to find a perfect place for delivery! I also am attempted to wean my 14 month old so I totally understand!!!
@mbradfo2 Sorry to hear about your oven!!! That's rough! Happy to hear you're feeling more confident. That's so tough with the lingering anxiety.
How far along are you? 6 weeks!
Noteworthy weekend recap? Got my hair done, went to the gym with a friend, and then lazy Sunday with the family.
Week ahead thoughts? Just hoping to get through this work week smoothly!
Anything new with pregnancy? Symptoms? Still feeling pretty sick. Friday was awful and hoping to not have another day like that haha.
How far along are you? Based on LMP: 7w6d, but measuring 7w3d. Doc won't officially declare a due date until we've monitored growth a bit more.
Noteworthy weekend recap? Nothing particularly happened this weekend, which is always a welcomed change of pace. DH had to work Saturday, but we spent an awesome evening with popcorn & stand up comedy from our living room together. That was great. OH! I also had time for a self care shower complete with sugar scrub, serums, etc. It was glorious to say the least!!
Week ahead thoughts? WELL - My week will be spent announcing a mass lay off (including myself) at my company so I'm not real excited out it, however DS has back to back baseball games at the end of the week & DH is off all weekend so I'm choosing to focus on that!!
Anything new with pregnancy? Symptoms? The bean has made his/her debut! While I just look bloated, it's real that this isn't going away. My hips have widened out some already to the point that none of my pants/shorts are fitting. I tried on 5 pairs to go to the store yesterday, resorted back to yoga pants. I busted on the maternity shorts, but they also don't fit because they're too big. I'm thinking that because it's my hips, I could probably buy a couple sizes up in regular & just use a hair tie for now. I've committed to dresses all summer, but I'm just not ready for that yet.
@PrettyPalomino so glad for grandparents! What are you planting?!
@rgn12 sorry you had to work, that's so stressful!! I hope your symptoms ease up a bit!
@pinkiswhereallofitstarts glad to hear your son is feeling better! and I hope you get done what you need to at home!
@mbradfo2 sorry to hear about your oven but it sounds so nice getting out to a pool this weekend!
@brookert615 Yay for taking time for yourself! I need to get my hair done too. way too many grays!
@mommaduck2490 Your Saturday night sounded amazing and you did a sugar scrub?! Yumm!!!
How far along are you? 5w5days
Noteworthy weekend recap? MIL took the boys Friday night and gave my husband and I a night off and didn't. bring them back till 1pm the next day! Tried to open our pool on Sunday but the guys who closed the pool ended up leaving in a pipe that we can't remove, so now we have to wait for someone to come and remove it before we open it and that won't be until next week.
Week ahead thoughts? Trying to make sure I spend time working out at least 30min each day if I can. I just got my second vaccine dose and I know my arm hurt a bit from the last time so I don't know if that will impact me wanting to get some harder workouts in. Nothing too crazy with work but excited that we'll get some 80* weather days here.
Anything new with pregnancy? Symptoms? Still just some stomach uneasiness. Not crazy nausea but no food seems. appetizing right now. I had to force myself to eat food but even the thought of food just made my stomach turn. I had some hip pain last night in bed so I'm already looking into getting a pregnancy pillow.

@PrettyPalomino- yay for no more spotting! and for getting garden beds ready. My husband did alot of work in ours this weekend, but of course I was no help (don't want to lift/shovel, and just super sick). I also got my first covid shot 2 days after we saw the heartbeat I am also totally normal in the chest, unlike last time. I feel like a previous pregnancy, pumping for 8 months and then a year of hormones trying to get this baby have just made them uneffected by anything!
@rgn12- yay for getting a scan! it will be reassuring I hope! Maybe ask for prescription Diclegis? the actual time realased pills help me more than trying to do it on my own.
@mbradfo2- i get what you are saying, this second time around is almost scarier since you know what is on the line.
@2b1gmom- so impressed you are working out!! I can't move off the couch!
How far along are you? Today is 7+5.
Noteworthy weekend recap? The diclegis helped me function somewhat normally on saturday, but I'm still sleeping 8-10 hours per night and so blah. I hate feeling this way and feel like i will be missing out soon with warmer days coming
Week ahead thoughts? Tomorrow is my last scan with my RE and then hopefully graduate! I see my NP/OB next Monday with another scan and intake there.
Anything new with pregnancy? Symptoms? Main symptom is nausea and lack of appetite. Working hard to try to force any food in and keep it in. Sprite has been helping me stay hydrated. and Lifesavers wintermint candies help for the few mins I am sucking on them. Mainly just anxious that babe is getting what they need when I feel so awful. and a little worried at how much worse it could get since nausea is supposed to peak at 8-10 weeks...

Noteworthy weekend recap? We met some friends 1.5 hours away at a zoo Friday (my oldest was out of school), hung out with neighbors Saturday, and went to the wildlife park here Sunday. It flew by.
Week ahead thoughts? just trying to keep myself busy until my u/s next week. PGAL brain sucks. I haven't worked out (other than daily walks) for a couple weeks, and I'm going to try and restart that habit which I did today. I might not be able to move tomorrow haha. Sounds kind of silly, but after having losses I've always been nervous to workout pregnant. I want to workout this time around for health and b/c it makes me feel better overall.

Noteworthy weekend recap? Had another bridal shower but otherwise it was a very lazy weekend which I loved!
Week ahead thoughts? I’m really excited for my brothers wedding on Saturday, but a little nervous on how to hide the fact that I won’t be drinking. We haven’t told anyone yet, and I want to keep it that way at least until my first appointment. I definitely usually socially drink with my family, so hopefully DH has a decent tolerance built up so we can keep switching beers back and forth all night haha.
Anything new with pregnancy? Symptoms? still nauseous, and it’s worst in the afternoon and evenings which is annoying.
Noteworthy weekend recap? DH and I moved into our new house. It was a lot of hard work and I really wore myself out (no heavy lifting, just a lot of activity). I need a weekend from my weekend.
Week ahead thoughts? My energy level seems to be picking back up, which is nice. I plan to take advantage of that this week as much as I can!
Anything new with pregnancy? Symptoms? I've been getting that "stood up too fast" feeling a lot, so that's new. I've felt a few flutters down there, which I know is early, but I'm taking it as a little hello from the baby!
Need to vent for a second/would also appreciate anyone's thoughts. Several months ago, I had a strange episode with my thyroid. Since then, I've been having strange bouts of anxiety/panic, mostly at night. My doctor prescribed me Gabapentin, to have as a "just in case." I hardly used it, but it was just so nice to have something so I felt like I had a back up if my body misbehaved. When I found out I was pregnant, my OB told me to stop taking the gabapentin, that there are better alternatives for pregnancy, and that she would prescribe me something if I needed. I had been doing just fine, so I didn't ask for anything. Two nights ago, I had a panic attack in the middle of the night (first time in over a month). So, I thought I'd ask my OB for something to replace the gabapentin. She prescribed me Zoloft... like take it every day Zoloft. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Zoloft or needing it, but I really just wanted something like the gabapentin to have as a back up for these isolated incidents of anxiety/panic. I really just like the comfort of knowing I have the option. I'm not one to put something in my body unnecessarily even when I'm not responsible for growing another human, so I'm not a huge fan of the idea. On top of this, even with my thyroid issues, I've never had to be on a thyroid supplement. But now that I am pregnant, they have me on a low dose to keep things steady. So I'm already feeling like a failure because my thyroid needs help, and now we're going to add anxiety medication? I guess I feel like I'm falling apart just when I need to be strongest for this kid! Thanks for letting me vent.
@ladymetcalf If you don't mind me asking - what exactly was going on with your thyroid? Was this your PCP or a specialist? Thyroids out of whack can definitely cause heart palpitations.
@brookert615 About 5 years ago, I had half of my thyroid removed. Long story short, was having very weird symptoms, I had large nodules on one side of my thyroid, they couldn't tell what it was via biopsy, so they took it out. Then I felt a lot better! I have ups and downs, it was thought that I had Hashimotos, but technically my antibody levels aren't high enough. I'm a mess, lol. You're right, thyroid issues can cause heart palpitations, and I've definitely faced that, but this is different, just a know your own body kind of different. When I've had thyroid heart palpitations, that's the only symptom. These night panics come with pounding heart, sweats then chills, nausea, sense of doom, etc. Also, they keep checking my thyroid levels, and they keep coming back relatively normal. Like I said, I'm a mess lol I work with a PCP and an endocrinologist.
Noteworthy weekend recap? Making some landscaping progress. Designed the backyard, built raised beds, bought veggies and herbs, started compost pile. Still in the process of pulling up all of the ugly landscaping rock and then need to plant and mulch. Going to throw in some burning bushes, boxwoods, lilac and azaleas. It's labor intensive to say the least, but I'm rewarding myself with a new wooden swing and a water fountain! Trying to pull this oasis together stat.
Week ahead thoughts? Hoping morning sickness stays at bay. Feeling good, but definitely get moments of dread when I feel a wave of nausea. I am prepped and ready to go though. I've been on my supplements and prenatals religiously and have clear directions for DH to feed me constantly. Always comes at 6 weeks, but I am really hoping it spares me this time!
Anything new with pregnancy? Symptoms? Bloating and mild, infrequent cramping seem par for the course. Amenorrhea appointment next Tuesday and will schedule U/S from there. Won't see OB until 10 weeks and the wait won't bother me at all if by the grace of God I don't get morning sickness this go round.
@ladymetcalf My OB and psych actually had a little consult about this topic since I take a low dose of ativan for panic attacks as needed and that's technically contraindicated in pregnancy. BUT I was on a similar med when I was pregnant with DD because they both agreed (as they do once again) that it's more important that I be healthy and happy even if it had small risks associated with it. My psychiatrist is a pharmacologist as well and he also felt the studies that suggested increased risk of cleft palate with benzos were very outdated. There are other options, of course, but Zoloft is not going to really give you the relief you want until you've been on it for several months. (Also Zoloft made me very agitated when my doctor trialed it). My sister took buspar in pregnancy and that's a relatively low risk med that can help with anxiety, but it's not the quick relief you get with the benzos.
Honestly, the modern trend in psychiatry is too prioritize the mom's mental health but I know alot of OB's get stuck on the risk. There are plenty of options that work well for anxiety that have low risks associated with them, but not ZERO risk.
One of the worst experiences of my life was during my pregnancy with DD (first or second tri, I think) -- my regular pharmacist was out sick and they had a substitute at the pharmacy who didn't know me or my doctors. She refused to refill my prescriptions since I was pregnant and I was so angry with her (so were my parents, doctors and husband). You wouldn't NOT refill someone's blood pressure medicine, would you? I don't see how mental health is any different. I tried to explain to her that both my OB and my psychiatrist knew I was pregnant and agreed that it was best for me + baby to keep me on my regular medicine. I came back the next day and saw the pharmacist I know and love and got them refilled but that day is stuck in my mind forever.

Anything new with pregnancy? Symptoms? Just general nausea which is kept at bay by eating all the bread and gingerale
@ladymetcalf I'm so sorry you're going through that. You're not alone in the anxiety meds. I'm talking Zoloft everyday too. I found it very helpful when I had PPA after my second and have been on anxiety meds for three years. I did have to go off Wellbutrin when I became pregnant again but I'm back on Zoloft and my mental health is so important to me. I can't function with my anxiety and I know it's better for the baby and my family.

@ladymetcalf my suggestion to you as a fellow panic attack sufferer would be to avoid meds unless the daily anxiety is absolutely ruining your life. Zoloft does NOT prevent panic attacks unless you're on a really high dose, which for me has downstream impacts/unintended consequences that just aren’t worth it considering the low dose doesn’t do enough to eradicate it all. I’d suggest seeing a therapist who can give you cognitive behavioural therapy instead, it can be much more effective rather than trying to ride it all out on meds without a strategy you can implement yourself.
ETA sorry you’re going through it

@mockingjay1 - same on the working out! I usually am very active (running, weights, yoga) but am completely irrationally scared of PGAL exercise. I know it is fine (and probably healthy!) for me to keep up my normal activities but I cannot bring myself to keep up my routine. . . which is normally a great tool for my mental health/anxiety so that's not helping
@ladymetcalf sending I think drugs can be wonderful tools in helping us get through the s**t sometimes, I took Zoloft with my first daughter and it was really helpful at the time. This time around I am seeing my therapist weekly which is really a life saver. Though I am not taking any medications right now, I have consulted with my psychiatrist in case I need to use those tools again. Long way to say, do what helps you take the best care of yourself and helps you have a healthy pregnancy.
Just wanted to jump in here and comment because I have weird thyroid issues too. I have all the symptoms of Hashimotos but my numbers always come back in the normal range. It drives me crazy. I also have anxiety issues too. I will tell you that I changed my diet and the change in my health has been miraculous. I cut our gluten, dairy, all processed foods, sugar and foods that trigger my symptoms. My mental health is 100% better and my autoimmune issues are resolving. I also focus on eating super nutrient dense foods. I can’t take anti depressants because of some funky gene mutations so I’m really happy that I’ve found something that works for me.
Re: Weekly Check In: April 26

Noteworthy weekend recap? I worked all weekend. It was kind of stressful, especially with me feeling worse physically. I also thought I may have spotted the tiniest barely noticeable amount on Saturday and immediately flipped out. Nothing has happened since then, so trying to stay calm. I am also hoping to talk more about the covid vaccine at this appt, since I wasn’t able to get it before I conceived.
Anything new with pregnancy? Symptoms? I have been feeling so sick randomly. I almost threw up the other day from sweet potatoes, and then just now my stomach got so upset randomly during a call for work that I thought I was going to have to abruptly leave. I’ve taken B6/Unisom for the last few nights, but I’m not sure if it’s helping. My main symptoms right now are nausea, gastrointestinal issues, bloating, headaches, dizziness, fatigue, discharge, some mild stomach cramping, breast tenderness, and being more emotional than usual!
Noteworthy weekend recap?

Diagnosed with PCOS & Hashimoto's

Anything new with pregnancy? Symptoms? Just chuggin' along. Hoping the nausea, sore boobs, and exhaustion are all good signs.

How far along are you?
7 weeks 6 days

My OB and psych actually had a little consult about this topic since I take a low dose of ativan for panic attacks as needed and that's technically contraindicated in pregnancy.

I think drugs can be wonderful tools in helping us get through the s**t sometimes, I took Zoloft with my first daughter and it was really helpful at the time. This time around I am seeing my therapist weekly which is really a life saver. Though I am not taking any medications right now, I have consulted with my psychiatrist in case I need to use those tools again. Long way to say, do what helps you take the best care of yourself and helps you have a healthy pregnancy.
