PAIF Check-in 4/14

Note: This thread will include discussion of infertility and loss. If these topics are triggering for you, please take care of yourself while reading and posting here.

This thread is for those of us who went through infertility testing and treatments before becoming pregnant. Many of us have had different struggles to get to this place and face different anxiety and concerns now. This thread is for us to support each other, and we hope it will be a safe space. Though this thread starts on Wednesdays, please feel free to post here at any time during the week, whether for good news or bad. Consider this an ongoing conversation.

This thread is for those who have experienced infertility. The struggles we discuss may or may not apply to those who became pregnant easily. If you have not experienced infertility, please be considerate and sensitive if you feel the need to post in this thread.

Any symptoms? breast tenderness has lessened this week, fatigue is unreal though. I was hoping to start light work outs this week but by the time I get home from work Im just exhausted, I can barely make dinner most nights. Ready to get off this progesterone and hoping that helps the fatigue.

Rant/Rave? My RE wont let me take magnesium for my constipation. She didnt explain why and Ive seen plenty of other womens OBs recommend it. She only wants me to eat prunes or drink prune juice....which when you are nauseous is not the most pleasant thing to force down.

Next appointment? 4/22 is my next sono and we graduate from the RE

Get my kitchen renovated before the baby comes! My husband and I just bought a fixer upper and were hoping to at least get the kitchen done before our transfer, but life has other plans. Now my next goal is to get it done before November!

Any symptoms? They seem like they are settling down a little bit. I’ve had a couple of good days this week, not today though. I remember feeling much better around 10 wks with my son. I feel much worse this time though, not sure if it’s just chasing a toddler or the extra hormones since I wasn’t on that the first time.

Rant/Rave? Nah. @chartput I may not be the best person to give advice since I’m a habitual rule breaker, but I have no problem going rogue on my doctor. Especially if I know from my own practice that something is ok. I’m not going to meddle with my ivf meds because that is literally what the RE did extra training in and I’m paying a lot of money for their expertise, but sometimes I just do my own thing. I called in zofran for myself since the IVF clinic won’t prescribe it. I know what the risks are but I can’t function at work being so nauseated and everything else doesn’t work as well and makes me sleepy. Again, I’m a terrible patient so maybe don’t listen to me.

Next appointment? Friday-last with RE and Monday is the first with my regular OB

Get the closet of 3 years worth of baby to toddler clothes sorted and organized before this baby comes! I have been tossing everything that was in good condition in the closet in the spare bedroom after my son outgrows it, and it is just piled with clothes. I bough some bins to help organize but I just can’t get myself to start because it will take forever 😩
  • I graduated from the RE to the OB this week, and she set my official due date to 11/12, so 9 weeks 6 days.

I was referred to a maternal fetal specialist because of PPROM, so I’m looking at weekly progesterone shots from weeks 16-36. That appointment isn’t until 5/7, which, after having weekly ultrasounds, seems so far away.

I’ve been thinking about renting a Doppler. Any experience?
  • @freakymagoo congratulations on graduating! I graduated on Friday. I’m just off to regular OB. I’m also due Nov 12. As far as dopplers, my only advice would be to wait until at least 16 weeks. They are so hard to use until everything is bigger. I don’t know a lot about home models though. When I googled brands, some of them look exactly like what we use at the hospital so I’m sure they are the same thing just with different branding.
