Symptoms - April

It's early -- but some of us may already be noticing some symptoms!

What ones are you experiencing?  Do you -feel- pregnant yet?

I'm doing this by month initially since we're going to slowly grow over April as more people get their BFPs, but depending on our activity, we might need to switch to weekly or biweekly posts so things don't get too crazy!

Re: Symptoms - April

  • I have pretty much the same symptoms now as I had early on with my daughter (STM here) -- horrible hot flashes (I blame the progesterone supplements I'm on, honestly), sore boobs and general fatigue. Last night I had my first episode of nausea/heartburn/dry heaves -- I woke up around 1 AM to that lovely taste of reflux in my mouth + the fluttery feeling in my stomach and had some dry heaves/gags -- almost thought I would actually throw up at one point. Fortunately DH was quick to grab some tums from the bathroom and a glass of water - both of which helped. Ugh.  And it's only 5 weeks in...

I had the dry heaves/gagging a couple of days ago too! I’ve had mild nausea off and on, but I am super sensitive to hormonal changes (migraines, ugh) so I’m not surprised. Two nights ago I also had some intense indigestion/heartburn, and thought I was going to throw up. My boobs are so sore too. I didn’t have any nausea with my DD until six weeks, so I am kind of scared that I’ve had some at only five... 😬
  • Loading the player...
  • @mbradfo2 UGH, how could I forgot the girls!? I swear they're growing by the day & SO sore. My AF bras are already snug. I'll need a new size before I hit 2nd tri!
  • rgn12rgn12 member
Ohhh, and I almost forgot... bloating!! Ughh! I do not remember this being nearly as noticeable the first time, but I swear I look four months pregnant or something. I don’t know if it’s because I’m a STM... but it’s like my abdominals have just given up 🙈🤣
  • I can't seem to eat enough. I haven't had any true aversions yet, but a few nauseous moments. Noticeable stool difference, much warmer body temp that usual, sleep is a crap shoot depending on the day, and goodness gracious I'm exhausted. I actually implemented a nap during my work day, without out it I'm toast.
  • @mommaduck2490
I also feel super hungry!! And mostly for high protein or salty foods - I've been working on the prime rib we had leftover from Easter for meals. I've also lost my taste for some foods I normally love -- tacos, chinese...

I'm sure the nausea is coming though.... I didn't have nausea until closer to 7-8 weeks with my daughter...I still remember going to lunch after our first ultrasound (IVF so early early scans!) and enjoying my meal! A week later, I could barely choke down saltines.

  • I wish I had more symptoms like you guys! Makes me anxious, but tomorrow is only 5 weeks so I’m sure the nausea is coming (last time it hit my around 6 weeks, but that was initially a twin pregnancy). I had some sore boobs off an on but those have been gone the last few days! Only real symptom is a back ache at some point most days. Hopefully once my HCG gets a little higher I’ll notice some changes

  • @rgn12 Yesss! The bloat is so real!! I remember I bloated pretty good around 6-7 weeks with my first and it just never went away.

@JamieH2000 Girl, it's all about perspective!! Growing a whole organ (placenta) PLUS an entire human being is hard work on the 'ol bod. Give yourself grace for doing it with ease!! You got this!

@mbradfo2 Mine has been sweets. UGH, I don't even want to talk about the pounds I've packed on because of it. Plus I had to stop my daily meds which affected my appetite so I literally look rapid in my kitchen. There's snacks hidden everywhere in my house... I ordered some resistance bands for working out to hopefully combat this sweet tooth!

@rgn12 I’m pretty sure the bloat does get worse with subsequent pregnancies. At least that’s my experience. I’m only 4w4d and by the end of work today, my pants felt super tight. It’s the worst.

@mbradfo2 fingers crossed that morning sickness stays away. You never know. My first came with a ton of sickness, literally couldn’t hold anything down. My second was a breeze. Anxious to see what happens during this pregnancy!
  • Not a whole lot going on. My boobs really kicked up the tenderness today, especially on the bottom and sides. I’ve also had some super minor cramping on and off. Definitely super worn out. I came home and took a 3 hour nap today! And bloating that gets worse throughout the day. The worst part about the first trimester is that everything seems to change daily so that you never know what you’re getting. Super awesome!
  • @JamieH2000
I was feeling mostly pretty OK until a few days ago-- I hit 5 weeks on Monday and started to feel more symptoms. I think my really high progesterone levels play into it though -  when they tested my progesterone last week, it was 58!

@valteach you’re so right, it’s always changing! Never ending surprise symptoms haha.  That makes me feel better about the bloat, this is crazy!!

@MommaDuck I was kind of hoping it might subside, but thinking not!

@JamieH2000 mine have only been pretty recent, but super mild so far (aside from my random heart burn episode and bloating).

  • @rgn12- glad they are mild for you too! Sometimes I get bloat but it’s hard to tell if maybe I just ate a little too much or something didn’t agree with me. Feeling good is nice, except doe the anxiety of course!!

@valteach- yes the changing daily really messes with your mind!! I like things consistent haha

@mbradfo2- I maybe jinxed myself, as I woke up hot and nauseous last night in the middle of the night like you! It’s the first night the house is in the mid 70s (finally some warm days hwre in WI). My progesterone is in the 40s and estrogen has been in the 1500s, but it’s been like this for months with all my cycles ans I feel like my body is numb to the hormones almost!!! So HcG is really the only new one in the mix....

@JamieH2000 just hit 5 weeks today too and not much to report either so totally get the anxiety about that. Nips a little sensitive and maybe slight boob swelling but no nausea yet. Last pregnancy I think I started nausea around the 6 week mark so we will see. Eating eggs and meat and all the things I had aversions to now before I can’t soon.
  • @jph91- 5 week buddies :) I agree- I should be enjoying eating while I can!! And enjoying feeling good instead of worrying... but of course my PGAL and PAIF mind ruins it all haha

  • Well here's a new one, blueberry things are officially gross. That's definitely an aversion because I'm obsessed with blueberry muffins, waffles, etc. I woke up this morning & made blueberry muffins. I took 1 bite & handed it to DH. I hope his warehouse crew enjoys the muffin treat this morning because I sure did pack them all up and make him take them with him when he left, lol!!
  • Morning sickness always starts early for me, but this time, it started 4 days before my missed period (which isn't due until tomorrow!). I am so nauseous. I've had my bowl of watermelon to munch on during classes and mint gum. Guys, watermelon is amazing for nausea and if you can find some, get it. I am not a fan typically, but it was a lifesaver my last pregnancy.

Other than that, I've been slightly lightheaded, somewhat fatigued, and my boobs were tender yesterday out of nowhere!

    Me: 33 DH: 38 Married: 1/10/15

1st Pregnancy EDD: 1/1/17 Born 1/10/17 Team Green turned Blue!

2nd Pregnancy EDD: 11/6/18 Born 11/09/18 Baby Boy!

    3rd Pregnancy EDD: 12/?/21

Children are like casseroles; it takes a lot to mess them up.

  • @therealfrizzle watermelon! Good to know. I had no morning sickness with my son but I definitely feel it with this babe. My boobs are also sore.

I had a ultrasound last night for my kidneys and pelvis that was scheduled before I was pregnant. Babe is in the uterus and measuring 5w6d but I thought I was only 5w2d.
  • @kaitcrystalline
I think you'll probably be the first person here who got an ultrasound! Yay for growing babies

    @kaitcrystalline yay ultrasound!! ❤️

@therealfrizzle watermelon?!? That is awesome, I had no idea! I will have to try this, thank you!

New symptom for me.... my daughter was being so precious and saying the cutest things and I felt the tears coming, like borderline losing it. Her language has just been exploding since January, and she was being so sweet. I kept it together, because we had company, but oh my goodness!! I am not a random cryer typically 🙈
  • @JamieH2000 I'm assuming everything looked good because they didn't say otherwise. My doctor just said the baby looked good and is in the uterus. My next scan probably won't be until I'm 11-12 weeks just because of timing. I may ask my midwife if I can go around 8 weeks though.
  • @rgn12 yes the tears came to me watching the voice yesterday! I was like oh lord he we go with the hormones! LOL

also the insomnia this time around has been insane. I’m exhausted and want to sleep all day which I can’t and then when night time comes around I’m wide awake. Hoping this part passes soon since I remember how much I typically struggle sleeping in the third trimester!

  • Oh, yay, my first migraine headache of pregnancy. I hate that people with chronic migraines have a 50/50 chance during pregnancy -- either you get MORE migraines or you get fewer/none. I was lucky enough to get the "you get more" side of the equation. And I can't take anything that would normally dull the pain since tylenol is basically like a sugar pill to my migraines. Going to get an ice pack and see if I can get that to help some.

Any other third time moms here having round ligament pain already? I had very distinct and sharp RLP with my first two but NEVER this early. Every time I stand up too quickly or get out of bed, sure enough, that same annoying pain. Is it because this is baby number 3? Or am I just going insane lol
  • @nz113 I don't think I'm having RLP, but I am definitely having those shooting, stabbing in the uterus pains if I sneeze wrong or sit up too quickly.

Oh, also, @mbradfo2 and @rgn12 carrots are amazing as well! Anything with either B6 or B12, I can't recall which. Vitamin water was a huge thing for me last time around too. I ran out of watermelon today, so I've been munching on carrots and crackers and these new morning sickness lozenges I found at Target (pinkStork? based in St. Augustine, FL, all organic, not too bad).

I almost threw up during my 2nd period class today. I don't think I'll be able to keep this hidden from my students for too long >.<

  • @nz113 I’m also pregnant with my 3rd at 4w1d and I’m definitely feeling some discomfort that resembles that RLP but I think mine is more about the bloating and cramping. Or maybe my body remembers that RLP fun so much that it jumped right into it!!! Lol but either way definitely uncomfortable already so this should be fun HAHA

I can barely button my pants today, anyone else?!? 😂
  • @rgn12
I've felt like a whale for the past couple days but today was especially bad!
I bought a bunch of flowy sundresses so I've been wearing those and feel more comfortable. Also keeps me cooler which is a bonus.  (If you are looking for some good quality, simple sundresses --  I'll put the link below. They are super comfy and the fabric is nice, soft and just enough stretch.

Hello ladies 🙂, till now my only symptoms are loss of appetite, fatigue (i get exhausted just by going up the stairs), just a bitt nauseated in the morning and craving water with ice in it.. but so far it's feels very different from when I was pregnant with my son!! Hopefully I don't get that unwanted heartburn that I had with my lo..

@bradfo2 oh thanks!! I need to get some more dresses and flowy clothes.

@therealfrizzle yesss, goodbye jeans! Nooooo more! Haha!
  • Crazy tender nipples. Thankfully not the whole boob. 🤣 A little nauseous this morning. Tired all the time. 😫
  • Boob soreness and nipple tenderness are real.  I'm exhausted all the time but I don't know if that's from my 2 yr old or pregnancy lol.  I felt a bit nauseous today, which was fun.  I got lucky and barely had any morning sickness with my daughter, and was hoping for the same this time around.  We shall see.
  • Ugh, nausea hit me in full force this afternoon. It was odd because I was hungry but food just seemed gross and my tummy was "grumpy" (as DD likes to say when her tummy is upset). And heartburn on top of that. Feel a little better now so going to cook some dinner and try to eat a bit.

  • I know it's way too early to show, but omg this bloat made me look 3 months last night. Saw my side view while getting ready for bed and did a double take.
