Question about crazy temps

Has anyone ever had some crazy fluctuating temps before? This is month 11 TTC 5 months on clomid. This has 2 if my highest temps yet. I feel like im losing my mind doing the bbt and it being super high one day and then going down to normal post ovulation temps then right back up. Also do you think the day it put as my ovulation day could be right or maybe the day before.

    Hi - we don’t encourage one off posts in this community as it tends to clutter up the board. We have a pretty good cadence of daily / weekly posts and encourage anyone who’s actively TTCing (or thinking about it!) to join up, and participate. If you’re interested in joining our warm and fuzzy community, here are a couple of tips:

    1) update your username to something more legible; this will enable others to easily tag you in their posts.

    Otherwise, bbt measures are pretty meaningless on their own. The only thing BBT can help is confirm ovulation once mid-cycle temp shift has occurred. There are SO many factors that can affect BBT so trying to read any more into it, will just drive you crazy. I usually compare it to reading of tea leaves. It looks like you O’ed on CD20, so I agree with FF cross hairs (CHs). Hope this helps.

    Also, here’s a non-exhaustive list of everything that can affect your BBT:

    • The amount and quality of your sleep (including changes to your wake-up time)
    • Temperature changes in your environment (both outside and in your home, especially your bedroom)
    • Whether you are using hormonal birth control
    • Whether you have a fever (and if so, whether you are taking medication to reduce your fever)
    • Whether you’re fighting an illness or infection
    • Whether you've consumed alcohol
    • Your stress levels (physical and emotional)
    • Your hormone levels

    Without a perfectly times US you can’t know the exact day you ovulated. A temp shift can occur anywhere from 1-3 days after ovulation. Your shift was CD21 and you confirmed ovulation on CD23. The fluctuation in your LP is meaningless unless it drops below your coverline more than once. The main thing you want to get from your BBT measurement is confirmation of ovulation and you have that.
