My husband has always given me a hard time for not eating enough leafy greens, sardines, and salmon in the first trimester. He doesn’t believe me that carbs are easier on my stomach in the first trimester. This morning the girls wanted pancakes for breakfast and I had to excuse myself from the table to vomit. Instead of asking me if I was okay, or if he could help with anything DH said, “how were those carbs on your stomach?” It’s my 5th pregnancy (hopefully 4th baby). I freaking know my body, dude! It’s our wedding anniversary today as well. 🙃
@doodleoodle Nope, I hope has a nice anniversary planned to make up for being a turd! When are men going to get that you can't force anything in pregnancy, especially the first trimester. Also cravings/aversions make absolutely no sense, you just have to go with it.
@doodleoodle you have more patience than me, lady! My husband is perfectly content to let me just eat carbs, when i joked to him I was going to get scurvy he said "that's what your prenatal vitamin is for". Honestly, first tri is just about survival ffs
@doodleoodle ugh, yuck! Unless he can carry a baby, I’m of the opinion that you can just do whatever you need to do. At least you’re eating something! Agreed with @artsiefartsie I hope he’s got something GOOD planned to make up for that.
In the same vein, my hubby has been very cute with reading all of the books and telling me random pregnancy facts all day (even if he’s forgotten some that I’ve already told him🙄). Now he got on the “breast is best” topic and gave me some stat about a certain % of women being more successful if their partner pushes it on the mother more. Drew a line for me there and I had a bit of a “my body, f*** off” super feminist BF and told him I will try very hard, but if I’m not successful or it just doesn’t work, I HIGHLY doubt any mans influence is going to change that 😬😂 😸
@usedtobeknottie there’s a difference between being supportive and pushing it on you. Glad you nipped that in the bud. That can quickly get out of hand. Trust me.
Don’t worry ladies, the next time he has a stomach bug I’m going to make him a huge plate of kale and sardines. I’ve got it all planned out.
he gave me such grief for wanting nachos last night, but I feel better at night and they were the only thing that sounded good. If I force myself to eat spinach and fish right now and then I vomit is it actually helpful? Also, I’ve been losing weight. So... I’m going to eat what I can eat.
@doodleoodle I totally agree. The first trimester is all about survival. Some days aren't bad and I can eat fruit and veggies or some actual quality protein, others like last Saturday the literal only thing I could think of that didn't make me gag was a can of spaghettios 🤷♀️ some calories are better than no calories.

My BF is my in-laws. We told them last night and they were super happy of course but they immediately started comparing this pregnancy to my SIL (their daughter) who they KNOW I absolutely can’t stand (to say I hate her is a massive understatement) and they did it several times. I’d say something and they’d be like “oh SIL said the same thing about her pregnancy! She also said this and that!” Like, cool idgaf. Keep in mind she was pregnant a couple of years ago already so it’s not like we’re even pregnant at the same time or anything. I KNEW they were going to do this but it’s really irked me still.
Mine today is about a client (one of my favorites usually too). A potential property buyer sent her comments to our Purchase and Sale Agreement that she forwarded along with a "sorry for the Saturday email and don't worry about it but let's be ready to discuss first thing Monday"... So that is the nice way of saying work on the weekend.
I stayed up until 3am today preparing the issues list and walked them through it at 10am this morning. She said "great I'll tell them that we'll have a fully revised draft back to them today". 😶🥲 I was hoping that the morning discussion would give me some buffer and that I could nap this afternoon instead.

Also why sardines? 😆
