Re: UO 3/18

  • I hate maternity pictures where people cradle their bellies or do little heart hands. So much cringe!
  • Loading the player...
  • @mybigfatgreekfetus Im not a fan of maternity photos in general. I’d rather wait til I have a baby to hold!
  • With DS I got maternity photos and I was all about them but I look at them now and I don't like them at all.

  • I prefer sour flavors to chocolate- all the time, not just when I’m pregnant
  • I love Disney World. I want to plan a big trip once COVID restrictions/masks are gone. I think it’s fun and I want my kids to experience it.
  • Oh man I like maternity pics and Disney world haha.

idk if this is a UO but I really dislike all the crap that people think you need for babies. They really don’t need much. I have so much junk from the first two that got used once or twice and is just hanging out. Like the bouncer- barely used it and it’s gigantic, takes up way too much space and is on my yard sale list 😂
  • I like Disney World and can't wait to take my kid(s)!

    @whatabout2ndbreakfast I agree! Babies don't need much!

Mine: Business emails should be replied to within 1-2 business days. Lack of communication to one's supervisor is a fireable offense.
  • I’m with @agea!!! I have zero desire to go back to Disney. I’ll wait until my kids are all old enough to understand and get it out of the way once 😂😂😂😂

@agea I also dislike Disney. I guess not Disney specifically but theme parks of any kind in the summer. Makes me think of sweltering heat, long lines, crying children... No thanks!

My two: I don't understand why people love bacon so much. Just meh to me. I'll take sausage over bacon any day!

Also, Ive always hated Beyonce. So over hyped
  • Maternity pics are ok when they match people’s personality but lots of times they are fake. Like I know you in real life and you’re not gazing dreamily into the sky while cradling your bump. I do wish I had more preggo pics with my son though.

I’ve shockingly never been to Disney. I’m not the amusement park type either. Crowds and heat and lines. I might take kids at some point I guess. I do have friends that have Disney obsessions but their over scheduling of vacations gives me anxiety.

Bacon>sausage but my husband is on your team @kissyfir1586

@Aerialmrs I agree but my work email is a hot mess so I agree for other people only haha

@whatabout2ndbreakfast my mom is insisting I need this mini pack n play dome to put baby in when I go to the beach. I don’t think my Sept baby will be at the beach much while still being ok with being contained in a baby dome. Less is more with baby stuff, it’s such a short period of time!
  • @kissyfir1586 ewww but sausage has such a weird texture to it 😂 bacon over sausage at our house!
  • We have family in Florida, so Disney is a little easier for us...but it was never something we could afford when I was a kid so it’s not something I particularly have an opinion on for my kids. We’ll go at some point and it’ll be fun, but I’m happy we don’t have to go all-out on a vacation there.

@Aerialmrs business emails should ALWAYS be replied to in at least an acknowledging manner to your supervisor especially, but also colleagues.
I manage a team and have a few people who are chronically terrible at responding to emails. They may even take care of the task but without acknowledging no one even knows if it was done. Drives me batty and hard to correct.
  • I don't necessarily think maternity photos are cringy, but it's definitely not my style. I also can't imagine wanting to display maternity photos anywhere or wanting to look at them post having the baby. I LOVE Disney! We were supposed to go 2 weeks ago but we bailed because COVID (my parents still went and I'm still pretty jealous). We are planning a Disney trip for next year though but just just 2 days and low key since this baby will only be 6 months old and DS2 will be almost 2.

My UO - I actually really enjoy traveling with littles! So many people told us not to bother taking trips before the kids are 3..but we took so many nice trips when DS was a baby/toddler and had a BLAST. I hate when people say "I want to wait until the kids can actually remember it" in reference to a trip - If my 2 year is having fun in the moment than that's awesome - it's okay if he doesn't remember it.
  • @chewie5990 I have traveled a lot with my kids. I have even driven across the country on multiple occasions alone with all my kids.

I have come across people who don’t take their kids to restaurants etc to avoid the hassle of dealing with their kids at the table. I take my kids everywhere. How else are they going to learn how to behave in those settings?
  • @chewie5990 we took our firstborn to Europe when she was just over a year old and it was amazing. I find when we travel with our kids we take it slower and enjoy things more. Plus we save money since we are in the hotel/Airbnb by 7/8pm every night lol. No late night drinks!

I wish traveling with our kids was easier. We tried HARD to be those people but unfortunately not all kids are equally flexible. It has consistently been hard, like really hard. And saying this on behalf of two people who traveled extensively before kids.
I wish it had worked out for us but the truth is our lives are so much more peaceful staying put as much as possible. We have to really gear up to go anywhere at all.
For us it’s not about the kids remembering the trip but being capable of sleeping other places and getting out of their routines.
    We’ll get there someday.
  • DS sleeps horribly anywhere outside of our home. He has to have his own space or we will all be up all night. Holidays since having him have been basically miserable. But we still do it because we have to. Otherwise he would never see his family. Wish us luck this weekend. We're sharing a hotel room and he'll be in his pack n play that he's getting too big for with the slumber pod cover. He did ok with it last summer when we stayed in a hotel for my grandpa's funeral but he's bigger now and I worry that if he gets upset and wants to come out of his pack n play that he could knock the whole thing over.

  • @chewie5990 I also love travelling with my kids! We backpacked the UK and EU (and went to Iceland) with my daughter when she was just over a year. Such an amazing trip. We went down to Florida and went on a cruise with my oldest 2 when my middle son was almost a year I believe, and we went to Japan for a month with the 3 kids when my youngest was 10m. I can't imagine travelling without them. We are so lucky they are great travellers, I know not every kid is.

We are always talking about where we would like to go next once the world isn't chaotic lol

  • @krash_ I noticed DD was getting too big for the pack n play this weekend when we were away, too.... and I wondered what’s the next step??? I feel like it would be sleeping with us in a hotel bed? I legit cannot think of what my other options are to keep her contained and sleeping
  • We go to Disney every year and are members of their vacation club 😬

UO.... I don’t think newborns are cute. I think it took a good month for my son to actually get cute when he was born. They’re just so squashed!
  • @runningonindie I DON'T KNOW! I know they have inflatable toddler beds but DS would never stay in that. At a hotel I could probably get a crib but idk if it would be full size and as it is at home DS's mattress is on the floor to keep him in the crib. We tried a toddler bed last fall after he was falling out and it was a total disaster. No one slept for months so I'm team crib 4 life! I will still use the pack n play and just watch him like a hawk and hope he doesn't lose it and beg to get out.

  • @muggsd DH just mentioned to me last night that he is itching to go to hawaii. I have been waiting for him to get here. He thinks we are going to wait until all the red tape gets taken down but I told him I would take care of getting the kids tested. We went last time I was pregnant too and it was amazing. I was 31 weeks though and literally felt like I beached whale. So I’m hoping we go sooner this time before I get super uncomfortable. Apparently we will have to get an Airbnb at this point because when he puts in the amount of adults and kids it forces us to get 2 hotel rooms. 🙄
