I keep ordering takeout because nothing sounds good at home and then when it arrives I can’t handle the way it tastes. I know it’s all pregnancy hormones but it’s driving me crazy. What a waste of money and disappointment. Tonight it was Chinese... I was so excited and then the flavors are too overwhelming. I just wanna enjoy food again 😭😭😭
First world problems for sure but woe is me.

Whats hitting the spot for you lately?
Today it was hot dogs and leftover turkey taco meat (???)

  • @agea my husband made cobb salad for dinner tonight and it was the most delicious thing I have ever eaten.

I'm already tired of the "how far along are you?" question.  It is even more aggregated by the people who reply to my response in weeks with "So how many months is that?"
  • @agea yessss. We also got Chinese tonight. I got bourbon chicken which I usually love, I ate like not even a quarter of it. I can’t wait for food to taste and smell good again. I tried not taking the unisom/b6 and I’m just not ready yet. Even with it food is a struggle. I haven’t cooked anything more than frozen meals in weeks 😬

@whatabout2ndbreakfast solidarity. YES. The drugs help but they don’t solve this. I just want a ravenous appetite and food that tastes amazing. Becoming picky is such a curse.

@deziraywatt congrats on your delicious salad- it’s an AMAZING feeling when something hits the spot.
My mom keeps asking “so how many months is that” and I think it’s such an odd question. Um idk if last week I calculated 3 months for you, I guess 3.25 months now... satisfied??
Pregnancy should only be quoted in weeks!
  • We have been struggling with getting our dog house trained for MONTHS. It isn’t from lack of actually training. I use a clicker and I got outside with him every. single. time. Well, we got him neutered not too long ago and suddenly he is like a different dog. He isn’t sniffing any of his “spots.” And he isn’t even aggressively going after every toy left on the floor to chew and destroy. He has been on a 2 hour schedule of potty, play, sleep. His play time outside of his pen we have set up inside has been extended quite a bit and he hasn’t had any accidents. I feel like I can finally relax around him and enjoy him. I know he will be even better once breakup happens and I can take him hiking. It’s too cold for him right now because he is shorthaired and pretty tiny. I’m just so relieved.
  • @agea I know DH is dying for takeout but I told him we need to wait for this food aversion to subside because I don't want him to bring it home and then not be able to stomach it. Last night I made protein pancakes with a side of tater tots. 🤷‍♀️ It hit the spot! Fun fact: Trader Joe's tater tots smell just like McDonald's fries.
  • @deziraywatt I feel you on the weeks/months things. Like, if you want it in months do the math. It annoys me probably more than it should!
  • I'm very annoyed today. It started yesterday, but now my dog (who I'm pretty sure has dementia) is just pacing around and I am super annoyed. This is already the longest week and it's only Tuesday morning.
  • @emeraldcity1214 we just had our dog spayed in January and I totally agree, it’s like she’s a different dog. Way more chill and not so excitable. Makes me excited for the summer!
  • I arranged to pick up something off of Facebook marketplace this morning and I just can’t peel myself off the couch to go. Exhaustion is real today!
  • @emeraldcity1214 I thought I was a housebreak expert before my current dog. Some dogs are just tough, I did wonder if it’s having a male after always having females. Glad something clicked with the neuter.

    @Aerialmrs agree longest week ever.
  • +1 to the longest week ever. DST is still wreaking havoc on our house and DS has been a beast in general. I have our virtual sales meeting this week so three days off all day Webex. Luckily I am feeling like a sort of normal human so que the anxiety because I'm not having any symptoms anymore and hoping everything is still ok. Appointmens every 4 weeks is not enough.

Nothing has sounded good for a long time so when I get something in my head that I want I get it but MH has been chastising me for the amount we have spent on eating out the last few months so I am trying to cut back. He has a point, we are trying to put as much as we can in savings so we can move soon and so he can get a new truck (which he needs before baby because the one he has can't fit two RF car seats).

  • @paulpaw and @muggsd I was getting worried we would never get him trained. I remember having a Jack Russel as a kid and he destroyed so much my mom got fed up and rehomed him. Then we got this dog and I told my husband Jack Russells are hard dogs but he insisted. I was thinking for awhile maybe he wasn’t a good fit for our family but I watch the kids play with him and how happy he is to be around us and my heart just melts. My heart melts more now that he hasn’t peed in my house for awhile. There were several dogs that lived here before we bought the house that we were unaware of until the smell of the carpet became noticeable. 🤢 We had to replace everything. I think he may have been marking the entire house. Every inch of baseboard he could get to. I’m just glad we only have carpet upstairs. I can’t handle dog urine on carpet. I would have gone completely insane. I can’t wait to take him out and finally get him socialized.
  • My grandmother sent my mom a picture from one of her tabloids of the most garish, most pink nursery I have ever seen, for her to give to me. I think she's hoping for a girl.

OK today has been a total gong show. I'm supposed to be referred to a maternal fetal unit for biweekly monitoring. Sounds simple, right? The on call OB who referred me sent the info with my FUTURE OB's name on it. The specialist refuses to let me reschedule to an earlier date (it'll be 4 weeks since my last ultrasound, it's supposed to be 2 so we can make sure i don't have any emergency cerclage), as only my (future) doctor can. The doctor who referred me can't help since she's not on the referral, even though she referred me. My midwife can't since she's not on the referral and they didn't send her instructions. My future OB won't give me any info until I've been referred/transferred to him by my midwife. Oh plus my midwife's receptionist was still sending referral papers this morning to another OB I was originally supposed to see today. I've called 5 different doctors/offices in 1 day but some rarely answer, so I've had to do 14 phone calls. For ONE biweekly appt. Just, why?

ETA: my midwife is awesome and getting me an extra ultrasound just to make sure everything is OK. But she also thought I was going to yet another OB today, which I didn't because I thought she had told me to cancel the appt once I ended up in the hospital. Sigh.

@sleepydaze I went through something remarkably similar in terms of getting stuck in the office bullshit for weeks. It was awful.
hopefully they work this out soon.
  • @sleepydaze I can't even imagine how stressful that must be!  I'm glad your midwife is getting you an extra ultrasound, but I definitely would have been on the floor in a puddle of tears by the end of all that.
  • @sleepydaze wow, so ridiculous! I'm sorry, that sounds so stressful. Glad you're getting that extra ultrasound. Hope they get their act together for you soon!
  • @sleepydaze that is insane. How frustrating!! I would also have been a puddle of tears. My old OB office usually had like a 20 minute hold to even get the phone answered 🙄 I’m glad the midwife is caring and on your side
  • Ooof, @sleepydaze I was stressed just reading that...I can only imagine how much more stressful that was for you!

@sawasap I kinda want to see that pink monstrosity of a nursery. 😂
  • @deziraywatt thanks for the heads up! 😂
  • @agea I usually love Chinese takeout but the last time I got it (probably sometime in February) something about it turned me off and I haven't eaten it since.

@deziraywatt OMG that drives me nuts with my son!  One week he's all about something and the next he won't touch it!    :|

  • @emeraldduchess Husband's exact words: "Well the teddy bear is nice..."

  • @sawasap That was how my sisters room was decorated... in 1986!
  • @sawasap I am cracking up that your grandma sent you that 😂😂 straight up out of one of those newspaper tabloid things lol!!!
  • @sawasap wow that room certainly is...something. That's hilarious that your grandmother sent you that.
Almost as hilarious as how tiny and out of place that bassinet looks.
  • @sawasap 😬😬😬😬 wait, this was from a modern magazine??
  • @whatabout2ndbreakfast She loves her tabloids lol. She literally mailed the page to my mom 😂

@mybigfatgreekfetus I know! That dusky rose is very 80s. But also very my grandma.

@emeraldduchess The bassinet is too small, the bear is too big... it's just all over the place

@kissyfir1586 I know! I would have thought it was old if it didn't mention social media
  • @gutsysneakers me too. Two days ago there was a big storm and I slept the whole night, but last night I was right back to never sleeping.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @williams-jen - I have no problem falling asleep. I wake up every night between 1:30-2:00 am and can’t fall asleep again until 4am. Sigh.

  • @gutsysneakers yes ugh! Eff anyone that says "sleep while you can before baby comes!" because I slept 100 times better after DS came even through the PP night sweats and wake ups every three hours.

  • @gutsysneakers that is exactly me. The most frustrating!!
  • Yes! I absolutely sleep better with a newborn that’s I do while pregnant. In third trimester there are nights that I seriously never fall asleep. I just lay there all night tossing and turning!!!
  • Is anyone thinking about nursery decor yet? I have a Pinterest board going and I have a friend who owns an Etsy shop and makes really nice wooden designs and cutouts. I already have a list of things I want her to design for me. I went with a mountain theme for my last baby. It felt very Alaskan since I’m surrounded by mountains. This time I think I’m going to do a bear theme (which is also very Alaskan since we live in the middle a huge bear population) and keep some of the mountain decorations to go with it. Of course, now this baby is going to be nicknamed baby bear.
  • @emeraldcity1214 I’m not sure yet! If it’s a girl I was thinking something floral but it’s probably a boy so I also like the idea of “you are my sunshine”. I might use that in the playroom of our new house though. There’s so many neat ideas- my one friend did a mountain/forest theme and it was so cool. I had another friend do a constellation accent wall in her nursery and it looked amazing.
  • @emeraldcity1214 Eh, we're not doing a nursery this time. Baby will sleep in our room until it's time to decide if they will share with big brother. We only have 3 bedrooms and would prefer to leave one for guests.
