House hunting sucks!

I forgot I planned to make muffins for the kid tonight but I’m too tired. Tomorrow! I am sad Monday is tomorrow. I don’t want to work. 😫

@AKuzReve I can’t imagine trying to house hunt right now. The only time we’ve bought a house it wasn’t under a time crunch of any sorts and was very low key. I’m sure it’s stressful trying to get it done at a good time with baby on the way!

I’m having a bit of baby shower drama. I’ve had multiple people offer to host one for me which I’m so grateful for but I want to keep numbers small due to covid even if they will be in the summer/outside and hopefully many people will be vaccinated by then. MIL thinks I’m being too cautious and dramatic though and is fighting to have one big shower 🙄

@AKuzReve house hunting is so stressful.  Hope you find something soon.  I spent a chunk of the day baking muffins with my 3 kids.....it took way longer then it should have and I'm exhausted but they loved it...the mess they made though.  Ugh

I just got an email from work that I can get my vaccine!! Since I work directly with the kids of the Theatre School I’m considered education support staff and therefore I’m elegible!!

@pharmd93 and @tiggywiggles, it’s awful because the market is super competitive and there’s tons of house buyers with so little inventory. We’ve already lost out on 2 bids. And we’re in a time crunch as our landlords are selling our place and would like us to move out by fall. We don’t technically have to as our lease ends May 31, 2022 but we also don’t want the stress of having to go to court and fight this while having a newborn. I’m just hopeful we can buy something in the next 6 weeks to move in to in august or September (super long transition period here). Fingers crossed as we have 2 more bids going in this week! 

@pharmd93, tell her people won’t go if it’s a large shower and also large showers suck. Small and intimate is so much better.

*TW* Disability

So my brother called me on Friday night to tell me his wife is pregnant, they are firmly one and done.  They are about 5wks behind me.  Anyway the reason he called was that his NT result came back unfavorable, and then the NIPT came back with an 80% chance of Downs Syndrome.  I'm just gutted I know in the moment I probably said the right things and did the right things but man that number is high and I'm so nervous for them, and they actually haven't told any family but me yet about the baby or the Downs.  So now they are reeling with the super exciting news of a baby (first and only on her side) and to follow it up with the fact that their is a chance for a disability.  I reached out to our local Arc to see if I could get any information about how best to support them as well as the limitation for this little one as I don't want to step in it and say something offensive or give a toy that's too advanced.  idk.  I just needed to vent somewhere and I'm sworn to secrecy IRL.

@pharmd93 I totally agree with you and feel you should stand up for your thoughts. After all, it’s the current public health recommendations AND it’s your shower! 

@AKuzReve I hear you on the market issue! On one hand it’s good because we should get a considerable amount more for our current house than what we bought it for 5+ years ago. But on the other hand we are moving to an area with higher cost of living and now housing prices are through the roof and competition is fierce. One thing I am standing strong about is not moving twice (like to a rental if/when we sell our house but can’t find a house to buy) with two young kids and 3 dogs. @bntfroggie I’m so sorry to hear the news about your brother. I’m sure you said the right things. Really just honesty and empathy I'm sure are probably appreciated. Maybe there is some kind of support group or parents group they may be able
to find out about through MFM.

@AKuzReve I don’t envy you one bit. Covid has done some wild things to housing markets! Even in my sleepy little town prices have soared and there is fierce competition. FX you find and win something good soon. 

@pharmd93 keep up the fight! I can’t believe someone would pressure you to take more risk while pregnant... 

@bntfroggie hugs. That’s got to be a ton to process. Are they going to do further testing?  I’m sure just being there to listen and validate their feelings is good for now. And in turn we’re here to listen.

@bntfroggie I’m sure you handled it well in the moment but I’m sure it’s a lot to wrap your head around, let alone them. We’re always here if you need to vent, that’s a lot to be keeping secret. 

Thanks for all the support everyone. I have MH, mom and SIL all backing me up on the smaller showers. Just needed to vent a little about MIL as she always tries making everything about her in some way. She also told MH that our wedding wasn’t actually all about us when we made a decision she didn’t like so I can’t say I’m surprised by this 😂

@AKuzReve house hunting is so stressful! We lost out on multiple houses but one house I REALLY loved when we were looking last year. The one we ended up finding I texted the realtor about the minute it was listed and had him do a video tour two hours later, and then we put our offer in, sight unseen (we were living in a different state). I'm so grateful it worked out but it was definitely an intense time.

@pharmd93 I'm glad you have people backing you up, it's so obnoxious when people try to steal huge life events from you and act as though they are theirs!

@bntfroggie lots of hugs, I have a lot of empathy for them. When DS was born the whole first year was a rollercoaster to see how severely his disability was going to manifest. It's a truly stressful time, my heart goes out to them.

I got my second vaccine yesterday and H got his today! Fully vaccinated YAY!! I am SO relieved to not have to worry about the people around me being covid deniers/anti maskers anymore!

Did anyone watch Meghan and Harry's interview? I'm like...not thrilled about my username anymore haha. It was gut wrenching and triggering and I cried a lot

@DuchessOfCambridge I watched the interview last night. How terrible does all that sound? I can’t believe there are people saying she is playing the victim etc. I’m glad they did what was best for their family with no regret despite how difficult the situation was. Harry seems incredibly supportive too - as it should be!

I put in a huge grocery pickup order around midnight last night. Picked it up today and like 80% of it is just snack food. Whoopsie!

@becks_726 I'm not sure they are getting further testing.  Their rationale was that it wouldn't make a difference, but I'd just want to know because there is still a 20% chance the baby doesn't have DS.  Then you are doing a lot of worrying for maybe no reason, and if she does have DS you can get more involved in that community.

@bntfroggie I can see both sides. I’m solidly in the give me all the information camp but I totally respect that for some people that’s not the right choice. I imagine testing would also be $$.

@bntfroggie id feel the same way. We wouldn’t terminate regardless but the more information I have, the better I can prepare. We got thrown into the special needs life with DS and I SO wish I could have had a heads up and learned all I know now ahead of time. His injury happened during delivery so it wasn’t really possible, but if it was I would have liked to know

@becks_726 My mom called me I guess they told them last night.  But they also mentioned to her there was fluid around the baby's heart which is very telling of a Downs Syndrome baby, so I'm thinking this will be a confirmation and not an all clear.

husband is getting his covid shot on Thursday. Here’s hoping it doesn’t knock him out like it did me.

Yesterday I had to play tooth fairy for two of my kiddos. I thought I had things all set for an easy night by attaching ziploc bags to the end of their beds. Nope! One kiddo decided to move the bag and attach it to the dang ceiling fan!!! I had to ninja stealth my way up the end of the bunk bed to reach it... And not only that, he also attached a string and a bottle to the fan as well so if the fan moved it would make noise and wake him up. 😑 Thankfully he must have knocked that part loose while sleeping so it didn't go off as my 4 oldest boys share a room and that's the last thing I needed. Freaking kids man.

@marikkita12 we all survived! Thankfully, no one else came down with it, so we have been out of lockdown for a couple weeks now. How we didn’t catch it is beyond me, but I am thankful. DH only had a mild case. He has some lingering congestion but overall feels pretty good. Hopefully he is eligible for his shot soon so we can get that done. I still cannot believe they haven’t made grocery store workers eligible in my state yet. 🙄

We had suprise piglets this morning. We kept one intact male that left at 9wks and apparently he got her. 😑 They are so sweet though.

Just a quick PSA. Your skin changes when you are pregnant and you get sunburned much easier. Had to fix some fencing today and my arms burned in the early morning sun which never happens when I'm not pregnant. 😑

@nopegoat the worst! I actually put on sunscreen today for the first time this year because I was worried about the sun on my pasty white skin😂
