Twin mom with a twin bod

I am a twin mom to beautiful 6 month old fraternal boys. We made it to 33 weeks and 4 days before my water broke and they arrived via c section at 4lbs 15oz and 3lbs 6oz.  I have stretch marks (which don't bother me) but I also have a pouch that hangs along with what they call "twin skin"  and mild Diastasis Recti although undiagnosed by a doctor. I'm wondering if there is any way to tighten my stomach back up a little bit and get rid of the pouch and loose skin besides surgery. Any and all advice is welcome and appreciated. Thank you!

I have never had a CS, but from what I’ve heard from friends, the CS pouch is really hard to get rid of through lifestyle changes, unfortunately. You can look into lotions that help keep the skin healthy and moisturized, although I’m not sure how much that helps. As far as the diastis, there are exercises to help with that. I found these links helpful.

  • I am also not a twin mom, but just wanted to hop in and say that you grew not 1, but 2 amazing babies with your body and it took longer than 6 months, so please celebrate your amazing body for what it is capable of and give yourself some grace. It can be frustrating and I know I went through a period of not feeling comfortable in my body after having my kids. See if you can’t work with a physical therapist for the diastasis and hopefully they can help you with the other issues, as well as giving yourself some time.

  • Congratulations on your beautiful boys! It's truly amazing what your body has accomplished in bringing them into the world. It's completely understandable to seek ways to feel more comfortable in your skin post-pregnancy, especially after carrying twins.

While surgery is one option, there are several non-invasive methods you can explore to help tighten and tone your stomach area. Consider incorporating a targeted exercise routine that focuses on core strengthening, which can aid in addressing Diastasis Recti and improving muscle tone. Engaging in low-impact exercises like Pilates or specific physical therapy exercises designed for postpartum recovery can be particularly beneficial.

Additionally, maintaining a healthy diet rich in whole foods can support skin elasticity and overall health. Staying hydrated and using moisturizers or oils may also help improve the appearance of loose skin over time.

It's important to listen to your body and consult with a healthcare professional or a certified trainer who specializes in postpartum recovery for personalized guidance tailored to your needs. Remember, every journey is unique, and giving yourself grace during this transition is key. You’ve got this!  :)
