I had my NT scan today. Baby looks beautiful and was super cooperative. Nasal bone was there and I think the fluid in the Nuchal area measured 1.4 so under the 3 marker. All 4 chambers of the heart were there. Baby was so chill. I hope this is a sign of a chill newborn. I’m 11 weeks, 6 days and most measurements were 12 weeks, 5 days and head was 13 weeks. NP said I’ll have a scan at 32 weeks to make sure baby isn’t going to be huge otherwise may need to think about induction. Last baby was born 9 days early and 9 lbs. The US tech is guessing girl but she said she could have a wrong angle. I’m still waiting for my NIPT results (it will be 2 weeks this Friday). I’m so glad things went well today. Scheduled the anatomy scan for the end of April and was pleasantly surprised to hear that I could bring my spouse!

@gutsysneakers glad everything looked perfect! I love that your tech tried to guess. I knew I was getting my NIPT soon so I wanted my tech to see if she could guess just to see if it was right, but she wouldn’t. One of the pics she gave me made it apparent though. At least it seemed to and ended up being an accurate guess by me.
Finally had my nurse intake appointment today! It was very long. First ultrasound moved to Thursday!
Question- is your OB changing how they do things because of COVID? The nurse I spoke with said they typically do every other appointment virtually until 28 weeks? Is anyone else’s OB doing virtual appointments? They also said about when you go in to deliver they test you for COVID and if mom is positive then the team and parents work together to see if baby can stay with mom or if they should be separated. That bit makes me nervous!
@whatabout2ndbreakfast I know a lot of practices are changing how they do things but I specifically sought a practice who would see me in person and maintain same schedule as pre-covid.
@whatabout2ndbreakfast my midwife said they are following the WHO guidelines for maternal care. So in person visits at 12 and 20 weeks. Not sure what happens after that. She gave me the option of having virtual (phone) appointments to check in at 8,16 weeks but since this is my 3rd I’m comfortable to just call her if I have any questions/concerns.
@whatabout2ndbreakfast When I first went, my OB said they were spacing appointments out more than usual...but knowing my history he's been more than happy to see me as often as I feel I need the reassurance.
Up until last month they also weren't allowing any guests at appointments. They just started allowing one (spouse or child) as rates went down a bit.
I know the hospital requires testing, but I haven't heard any mention of separating mom and baby. I think it's moreso so the staff know if they need to be extra cautious.
@whatabout2ndbreakfast we OB office isn't doing any virtual appointments unless you ask for them - but as of right now they do require a COVID test if you are coming in for induction or c-section (pretty much if your delivery is scheduled) but if you go into labor spontaneously you do not have to get a test - this very well could change before September though. I delivered DS2 in May last year and had to get a COVID test before delivery.
@whatabout2ndbreakfast My OB is alternating virtual and in person appointments, but made it clear that if I want to switch to an in-person appointment (or vice versa) for any reason, I just need to call. No partners at appointments though, which is too bad. They're just trying to limit the number of people in the waiting room as much as possible.
@whatabout2ndbreakfast surprisingly mine have been mostly in person. She gave me the option. The only one that was over phone was the initial 8 wk one.
I met one of my new OBs today! There’s 4 doctors in the group. In a month I’ll meet another one (who happens to be his brother). I REALLY liked this doctor! What a relief! Got to hear babe on the Doppler - heart rate 165 today - and then I immediately got my NIPT blood draw! We’ll have a gender reveal so soon! Ahhhhh!!!!!
I had my intake appointment today. Everyone at the OB/GYN office seems nice, although I will be going to a different location for most of my appointments. They have an office 5 minutes from my house. I was disappointed that they only did bloodwork and a urine test, no ultrasound. I see MFM on Friday for my NT scan. Trying not to get too nervous about that one.
Update: I had a tele-appointment with the genetic counselor and she explained everything about the tests that will be offered. I feel a lot better going forward! We decided to do the NT scan, the NIPT screening, and if they reccomend more testing we'll talk about where to go from there. Because I am AMA it automatically puts me in the "high risk" category, so they're offering a ton of tests.
First ultrasound today! Only one baby in there. Heartbeat 174. If I figure out how to get the pics off the CD I will share! Also baby came from my right ovary again - all three came from the same side. I think my left is gimpy 😂 baby was measuring 11 weeks and I am 10+4
Just got back from our NT scan/regular appointment today. I'm not posting any pictures in the U/S thread this time because the pictures were garbage, but watching it live was super fun, baby was moving around and we could see the hands very clearly! Apparently my uterus tilts backwards (I remember this vaguely from baby #1), and that combined with baby's movement made it impossible to get the NT measurement, so that was a bust, but baby was measuring right on track and I believe the heart rate was 168 I think? I had 6 (!) vials of blood drawn for all the normal stuff, but we opted out of any genetic testing.
Had my NT scan and NIPT blood draw this morning! My little one was being stubborn and kept rolling away. Heartbeat was 156 and the tech said everything was measuring right on track. I didn't need to stay and talk to the MFM, which I assume means everything looked good! I am so relieved. 💚💚💚 We still have to wait for the NIPT test, but I feel good having the NT scan done!
I’m so excited for everyone getting their NIPT drawn! There’s just as much excitement as the other 2 week wait!
I got my NIPT results Thursday (posted about about it in the Sex thread): all normal and it’s a BOY! My 13 week appointment on Friday was great. Heard the heart beat on the Doppler (150), and talked about the COVID vaccine with my doctor. Phase 1b starts on Monday in SC and pregnant women are included.
Had my 12 wk appointment and NIPT blood work today. They took like 8 tubes of blood because they had to do my baseline pregnancy blood work as well. Everything looked good. I need to start the baby aspirin but she didn't tell me the dose and I forgot to ask so hopefully that is in my chart. I need to schedule all my regular appointments and she advised that I schedule them all with her or another OB but to keep it consistent since I'm high risk. Also said that after the 20 wk anatomy scan with the MFM that she recommends a growth u/s with them every 4 weeks because DS was growth restricted. I'm going to have a lot of appointments.

@krash_ oof, so much blood! I think they took about 6-8 from me at my intake appointment, then two days later I went to MFM for my NIPT draw. For once I was grateful that I've been through 2 years of frequent draws with the RE. I'm a pro now! Three years ago...definitely would have fainted. Damn vasovagal syncope (which until recently I didn't realize was a legit, medical issue).
@marymh80 thanks! I sent them a message and confirmed it is the 81 mg low dose because the only "baby" stuff I could find was liquid Tylenol or Motrin which aren't even aspirin.

I had my 12 week appointment today (even though I'm only 11W1D) everything went great and since an u/s machine was already in the room the OB decided to just take a quick peek so I got a surprise little look at the baby boy. Everything looks great! My OB did ask me about getting my tubes tied since we are for sure done at 3 and I'm have a scheduled c section. I hadn't really thought about it - always just assumed DH would get a vasectomy, but she said doing the tubal during a csection literally takes less than 5 minutes and changes absolutely nothing about recovery so now I'm thinking it might be the right way to go.
@chewie5990 My doctor brought it up at my first appointment (possibly because I'm 40 and I'm pretty sure he knew this was a surprise pregnancy!). I was shocked he brought it up so quickly, but DH said he also offered it during my last delivery even though I have 0 recollection of it!
Had my NT scan today (plus bloodwork and urine sample). Everything went well, babe was very, very active. Heart rate was 167. This is my 4th pregnancy, and my first anterior placenta. I'm a bit sad about the anterior placenta but I know there are worse things that could happen and I should be grateful that everything else going well.
I saw the MFM today. My genetic results got faxed to her this morning while I was there. Everything is low risk and the nuchal folds are in normal range. She said that is also a marker for heart defects. So that’s reassuring that the folds are within the normal range.
@CanadianGamerMom this is my third and the first time I’ve not had anterior placenta! it takes a little longer to feel the movement but once it starts, it’s more than enough. Truly not so bad!
@CanadianGamerMom this is my third and first anterior placenta too! They did say it may move more to the side by the time i have my anatomy scan so i guess we'll see!
@CanadianGamerMom I’m also anterior this time around! What’s odd though (and I’ve mentioned this in an earlier post) is that I am most definitely 100% feeling movement after I sneeze or cough really hard. Exactly like with my last, where my placenta was not anterior. Not sure what to make of that!
From what I can tell from the ultrasound I did at work, my placenta is posterior this time. I’m feeling movements for which I’m grateful. I didn’t feel movements until 18 weeks in my last pregnancy when I had an anterior placenta. But in the long run, it’s just a 4 week difference - it just feels like a lifetime, especially when people keep asking if you’ve felt the baby yet.
Just back from 12 week OB and got to hear heartbeat for the first time! So cool. Idk how I feel about this OB but there’s 6 at the practice so hopefully I like the others better.
@whatabout2ndbreakfast that's awesome! I still haven't heard the heartbeat! I am hoping my midwife will check that today. Since I had my NT scan less than 2 weeks ago I probably won't get an ultrasound, but I'm still hoping for another peek. Not sure I can wait until my anatomy scan!
