Out of town visitors after C Section

Hey guys, I have been super stressed about this. I will be having a planned c section (date TBD), I am due April 23rd, so a week or two before then is the surgery. My husband has already told his mom and sister they can come from out of town to visit the 28th of April, for 3 days. With my first child (also a c section), I remember how long the recovery took until I actually felt okay to move around without assistance, and I suffered with some pretty extreme Post partum depression. I keep telling him that visitors that soon is not something I am comfortable with, and he just seems to not care at all what my opinion is because "its his mom, we can accommodate her." I am so angry, but he makes me feel like im being the inconsiderate one when he can't just tell his family to hold off. It's almost as if he doesn't think I need a month or so to recover physically and mentally. I don't know how to approach this anymore, he just doesn't understand. What should I do? 😩

Re: Out of town visitors after C Section

  • I had a similar struggle with my first, unplanned c-section, in-laws literally wanted to be at the hospital for the birth.  It felt like too much, hosting in-laws (they live 12 drive away), bringing a new human into our family, recovering from surgery and the rollercoaster of hormones.  They ended up coming a week after we got home, after I had a talk with H, I told him I would need time and space (mentally and physically). And basically said they could stay in a hotel and visit for short periods or come later after the birth.  This time with #2 we need someone to watch our 3 yr old, so they are arriving on my due date, and I am just going to be ok with it. I will get my mental recovery when they leave.
