Re: Weekly Check-In 2/22, 9/1 - 9/15

  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: September 4th - 12+2

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Plum!

Upcoming appointments: tomorrow is my first in person OB appt and Wednesday is my NIPT bloodwork and NT Ultrasound...can't wait to see bub again!

How are you feeling?: so friggin exhausted. I cannot get through a day without a nap, thank god for working from home and being able to sneak 1 in. Nausea is getting a bit better but still seems to hit worst in the evenings. Makes dinner planning very difficult...

Rants/Raves: Work sucks today. Everyone is pissing me off and I'm already mentally checkout out LOL not great for only 12 weeks pregnant  :#

    Questions: NATM

GTKY: What was the weirdest job you’ve held? Not weird, but I was a Tae-Kwon-Do Instructor for a while at my Dad's studio in my teens and early 20's. Was really fun teaching the wee ones!

    11+5, due 9/8

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: lime

    Upcoming appointments: nuchal on Thursday

How are you feeling?: better. Not amazing but best since week 5.

    Rants/Raves:
On a whim I called the NIPT company directly to check the status of my results. My doc said two weeks but I’ve heard of people getting them in a week or less.
To my surprise they have an awesome customer service team available to answer questions. They even passed me off to a friendly genetic counselor for more more in depth questions! Like, what?! So great.
Anyway my labs aren’t ready yet, boo. But I can call as often as I want to get updates. AND apparently my doc submitted them to not only pull T 13/18/21 but a FULL chromosome check and microdeletions. I didn’t know this was even an option and am so glad but am also so much more nervous. I can’t even think what we’ll do if the genetic results are bad again. I just want them back now, ahhh!
Should be anytime now until the next few days.
I’m happy I know more status but it’s definitely made me more obsessive.

    Questions:

GTKY: What was the weirdest job you’ve held?
    Hmmm.... telecaller for hospital reviews?
  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 11 + 4

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: bee hummingbird

Upcoming appointments: phone appointment to set up my ultrasound and blood work for genetic testing tomorrow.

How are you feeling?: I feel great then I feel like I've been hit by a truck

Rants/Raves: my husband took our son outside to shovel the wet trash snow we got this morning while I napped on the couch.

    Questions:

GTKY: What was the weirdest job you’ve held? I've had a lot of completely unrelated jobs (tire shop, waitress, landscaper, ship fitting labourer, cashier) the weirdest job I had was a temp job packing gluten free flour.  It was the most mind numbing work and I worked with 4 Japanese ladies who were here on a work visa.  They talked to each other in Japanese the whole time so I didn't even have small talk to pass the time.
  • @nasalot188 I feel you on the irritation. Every time I see my boss is calling my I'm annoyed lol.  At least I still have enough control to realize it's the hormones and not lose it on him!

@agea I don't think I realized we're due date buddies! I'm usually late to the game on these check ins. And that's great on your lab. It so often feels like pulling teeth trying to get answers, so great that they're so accommodating!

@deziraywatt We got a ton of snow here too. It's still going. So glad I was able to work from home today.

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: September 8, 11w5d

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a large strawberry

Upcoming appointments: Telephone appointment with my new OB tomorrow morning, then my first trimester screening ultrasound and blood work on Thursday. I recently learned that my province doesn't cover NIPT screening unless something shows up to indicate it, so not sure yet if I'll actually get the NIPT or not

How are you feeling?: Pretty good lately. My symptoms have gone way down. If I hadn't heard the heart beat last week, I'd probably be getting myself all worked up about it. I've noticed my stomach seems firmer too, but I'm guessing that's bloat or gas.

Rants/Raves: After 3 years of trying to get pregnant, I am super grateful that my first trimester has been relatively easy. Sure, I've been exhausted and queasy and can't eat my favourite foods right now, but I haven't thrown up at all so that's a win! And the exhaustion seems to be subsiding. Just hoping the rest of this pregnancy goes as smoothly.

    Questions: NATM

GTKY: What was the weirdest job you’ve held? Most of my jobs have been pretty standard... I guess the weirdest one was when I was doing phone surveys for various governments. People always assumed I was selling something and I got hung up on a lot, but I was in high school making more than minimum wage. Still didn't last long at that one.
  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: September 13/11 weeks

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a lime!

Upcoming appointments: Intake appointment is March 3, meeting my midwife on the 16th.

How are you feeling?: I ate some pretzels with hummus, applesauce, popcorn and a fig bar all without wanting to vomit. Hooray! Still tired but I hope I am turning a corner. We'll see how I feel after dinner since that's usually when I feel the worst.

Rants/Raves: I told my mentor at work today and she was excited for me. I had to tell someone and I wanted to ask her when/how I tell admin.

    Questions: Nope!

GTKY: What was the weirdest job you’ve held? (Kept same as other group, for some consistency lol) Nothing really out of the ordinary. I spent a few summers working at a store that sold Irish crystal, Beleek china, Irish sweaters, jewelry, and a whole bunch of random knickknacks with shamrocks on them. People didn't come in to purchase things that often, so I basically dusted everything and then read a book. Not a bad gig!
  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 9/11, 11w2d

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a lime

    Upcoming appointments: midwife appt Thursday

How are you feeling?: been slowly getting better and then today I feel like I was hit by a nausea truck. Hopeful that the trend upward continues!!

Rants/Raves: my husband has been a complete rockstar. Love that man.

    Questions:

GTKY: What was the weirdest job you’ve held? Not really weird, but it was great! I was paid in university to sit on a couch and do homework and watch the snack bar in my residence. I only had to restock things that were low, and it was honour system so there was no payment to worry about. Most productive 3 hours of my day for homework.

@emeraldduchess easy jobs for the win!

@runningoncookies I’m jealous of your Covid shots! Must be so comforting.

@sawasap call centres are the worst, even if you’re not selling stuff! I don’t blame you for leaving quickly.

@deziraywatt sometimes no small talk is better lol. I worked with a girl once who DIDNT STOP talking all day and I got so annoyed

@agea definitely stressful waiting! Hoping for you that it’s all clear and your anxiety can be reduced somewhat!!

@nasalot188 I totally checked out of work with my first. I was really fed up with my job by the time I got pregnant, and I knew I wouldn’t go back to it after the baby was born so I was just mentally outta there right when I got that positive test 🤷🏻‍♀️
  • @muggsd normally I would agree but the job was just so mind-numbingly repetitive, I would have taken anything to break up the day a bit.

That said I have had to train people at my current job who just talked about nothing all day long.
  • @sawasap heyyyy due date buddy 😉
  • Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: EDD 9/3 12w3d size of a chicken nugget

    Upcoming appointments: not until 3/22

How are you feeling?: basically just exhausted.  My back is also starting to get sore.

Rants/Raves:  We had a wonderful time a GWL, but I slept like crap all weekend so last night I was asleep on the couch before 7:30.

    Questions: nope

GTKY: What was the weirdest job you’ve held? (Kept same as other group, for some consistency lol) all my jobs have been normal.  I would say most out the normal is I grew up on a diary farm and milking was main chore.  I also started helping my parents again when I was an adult and milked in the mornings before my regular job until I was 6mo pregnant with DD.

  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days:
    September 9 - 11+4
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of:
    a poker chip!
    Upcoming appointments:
Next appointment is March 5 - I'll be 13 weeks, and they'll just do an exam and doppler heart beat check
    How are you feeling?:
way less morning sickness! But I feel heavy in my uterus, if that makes sense
    Rants/Raves:
I got a big Costco trip in the other day so my freezer is well-stocked with meats, and I also picked up myself some new enameled cast iron dutch ovens and a big pack of macarons!
    Questions:
    none
GTKY: What was the weirdest job you’ve held?
I don't know that my jobs have been that weird: nanny, hair salon receptionist, ice cream scooper, kennel assistant, veterinary assistant (both small and large animal), resident assistant, teaching assistant for anatomy in undergrad and grad school, dog food liaison, and two different places of employment as a veterinarian. I do see a lot of weird stuff in this field, but it feels normal now, lol. I'm currently on the medical advisory board for the corporation I work for, so it's interesting to have cerebral conversations about what we should be doing in veterinary medicine and how to help the practices in the organization improve their medicine voluntarily.

@muggsd I worked in a residence hall also!

  • @cassafrass123 good for you for keeping your cool! I don’t understand why some people think it’s appropriate to comment. She’s lucky you were expecting in the first place! 🤦🏻‍♀️
  • @runningoncookies yay for your second shot! It makes me feel better seeing so many pregnant women get them!

muggsd that sounds like the dream job for a college kid  :D

@cassafrass123 I don't know why people feel the need to make comments about pregnant women's bodies.  Rude.

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 9/8, 11+5

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: A profiterole

Upcoming appointments: I go on the 5th for my NT scan and NIPT

How are you feeling?: Exhausted and on and off bloating. Thankfully my nausea hasn't been as bad this week but I'm still throwing up when I pick up dog poop.

Rants/Raves: We ripped up old linoleum on our kitchen floor to put down new flooring and when we tested it came up easily.  When my DH got about 2 feet in, all the glue stuck so it looks like a disaster now.  We're trying to chip away to get the rest done before the weekend so we can send our son to my parent's while we take the weekend to refloor.

    Questions: None

GTKY: What was the weirdest job you’ve held? I don't think I've really had any weird jobs.  I was the Easter Bunny once.

  • @agea @sawasap September 8th is my birthday! An excellent due date if I do say so myself  ;)

@deziraywatt oh man that's the worst. My last job, my cubicle was right next to two Russian girls. They were very friendly and nice, but man o man alllllll day long I had to listen to them speak loud angry russian back and forth LOL I think I even learned a few words just from listening haha.

@runningonindie Am I the only one who has no idea what a profiterole is?  :D

@emeraldduchess I'm with you, starting to feel better but always nauseous before and after dinner! Whyyyy I just want to eat..

@muggsd Totally. I'm on contract right now, so I think that's why I'm more mentally checked out. I know I'm most likely done come April.

@Centralmnmom my back is starting to get sore too. It seems too early right? Ugh, not ready for this.

@williams-jen LOVE me a good cast iron skillet or dutch oven. Must have!

@cassafrass123 WOW. some people are unbelievable. Unless the person has told you personally they are in fact pregnant and how far along...you do not say ANYTHING. I would have been mad too.
  • @nasalot188 a profiterole is basically a cream puff!  It's the same kind of dough as an eclair but it's like a little ball and filled with deliciousness!

  • @nasalot188 IKR!  I tried my large pregnancy pillow on Sunday night and I'm just not far enough along to use it yet.  I couldn't get comfortable. Last night I tried a simple pillow between the legs and slept much better.

@cassafrass123 good job for keeping your cool.  I'm always blown away by what people think is okay to say to someone. Have they never heard the rule that you don't ask if a person is pregnant unless they are crowning lol

  • There seem to be a lot of us due on the 8th!

    Rants/Raves:

    Questions:

GTKY: What was the weirdest job you’ve held? I haven't really had weird jobs (fruit market, camera/photo store, reporter, etc), but I've had some weird coworkers.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a fig

Upcoming appointments: March 1 for the NT scan

How are you feeling?: bloated and gassy and tired

Rants/Raves: We ordered a new couch from C&B yesterday. It’s the Lounge II and it’s so deep and comfortable. It won’t arrive until April though.

Questions: anybody do the NIPT through Myriad? That’s who my OB uses and I was reading reviews - apparently they are taking waaaaay longer than the 7-10 days promised. 🤦🏼‍♀️

GTKY: What was the weirdest job you’ve held? I haven’t had many weird jobs - babysitter, daycare assistant, ice cream scooper, nanny, paralegal and fed gov now.

  • @gutsysneakers jealous! We so need a new couch. I'm too overwhelmed at the idea of shopping for one though.

  • @marymh80 - it was an easy decision for us. I was 99% sure that was the couch but needed to see the larger fabric samples in person. Boom. Ordered.

@agea - I hope you get your results soon!

@cassafrass123 - pretty sure I would make a snarky comment about them looking pudgy -“COVID 15, huh? At least I’m creating a life”. I swear, I don’t know where people get off commenting on a woman’s body. Infuriating.

@williams-jen - nothing better than having a freshly stocked house of groceries. I love when I have endless snack options.
