Trying to Get Pregnant

WTO Tuesday 2.16

**This is a thread that welcomes all regardless of where they are at in their TTC journeys. Please be mindful of topics that are discussed that could be hurtful to those going through tough times. Mention of children or pregnancies of others should have a TW (trigger warning) and be in a spoiler if possible, and only be mentioned if it is extremely pertinent to the conversation. Thanks for keeping this a safe place for us all to engage!**

  • Month/Cycle: 9/8

    CD: 8

    WAYDTGKU: charting, OPKs

R/R: Goooood morning everyone! Took a bit of a break over the last few days to focus on my mental health. Been struggling lately with work stress and life stress and just needed to unplug. Anyways, I'm on school vacation this week, so that's just lovely. Took the first few days to just relax and now planning on working on grad school, house tidying, and getting back into an exercise routine. Slight rant: Maybe I disengaged a little too much since I pulled up to my dentist appointment today and the receptionist said "uhh I don't think you have an appointment today" and then we realized that it was yesterday. Thankfully they were nice about rescheduling!

    CS/Q: nothing to see yet

  • edited February 2021
@fameonmain2 oh no! So happy your dentist was able to accommodate you and (hopefully) didn't charge you for the missed appointment. It sounds like the electronic break was needed! Enjoy your vacay!

    Month/Cycle: 13/14

    CD: 11

WAYDTGKU: natural cycle (BBT, OPKs, HIO EOD, etc.) break from medicated cycles/IUIs to do more tests and figure out next steps. As usual, lots of vitamins and supplements for MH and I.

R/R: rave -- had such a productive weekend! A few months ago, MH decided to set up his home office in the garage, and ordered this hardcore monitor arms to mount his various monitors. Well, it took all of 2 months to arrive (finally got here on Friday), which gave us the kick in the a$$ we needed to start organizing the garage / making his office "homey" (and for full disclosure, I took over his office, so he's been having to make do with working from La-Z-Boy / dining room table / living room couch). Anyway, we didn't get it all done, but made really good progress and will finish it up next weekend! We also started getting all of the tests we need to get done, done so hopefully we'll wrap that up by end of week (except for SA since we'll wait until after FW is over.)

Got a smiley face on my CBAD today, so gonna start to HIO EOD! (Which we've been doing anyway, but now we have to keep going!)

  • @fameonmain2 It sounds like you really needed that break! Glad you have more time to handle the things you put on your to-do list. It’s always nice to have both downtime and productive time.

@acleverusername Omg, that garage office setup sounds so exciting! Lucky you guys. It is exactly what I’ve been begging MH to do. His office is currently in a supper nice room in the house that looks out onto the yard: I want to reclaim it for a guest/multi-purpose room/my office.😄

  • @fameonmain2 I’m glad you were able to unplug. Yay for school vacation! Bummer you couldn’t take a real vacation during this time. I’m dying to go somewhere!

@acleverusername I’m glad you’re getting your test done so quickly! I forgot where you lived for a minute and was like, how in the world can you put an office in the garage in the middle of winter. We just had temps at -20 this weekend. I can’t imagine living somewhere warmish year-round. Jelly! I’m sure the space will be awesome when it’s finished.

@keikilove Yay for having warm sunshine! That’s all I can think about these days lol.

R/R: Getting my financial ducks in a row. Feels good. Used credit karma for the first time. I’ve always had a decent credit score so I’ve never really worried about it. But I thought it was time to clean up any old credit card accounts that were still open. Turns out they were all automatically closed for me since I hadn’t used them in years. Unfortunately the only thing I can do to improve my credit score is to have current lines of credit open for longer. With the old credit cards closed (some being open for 10 years), that brought my average down quite a bit. Oh well. Looks like it will only just keep getting better with time.

CS/Q: I’m thinking about cutting out coffee. I only drink 1 cup but don’t want to do anything to hurt our chances. How many of you still drink caffeine?

@LJMoon6 credit scores are such a pain in the rear, seriously.

    Month/Cycle: 4/4

WAYDTGKU: bbt, opks, cm, cinnamon supplements

R/R: eyebrow is still acting up today, swollen enough I couldn't see properly to drive to class this morning so that's fun. virtual doctor's appt scheduled for this afternoon so hopefully they can give me something that'll make it STOP.

CS/Q: probably going to start HIO today or tomorrow. Held off so far because no imminent change in cm or opks yet and we just don't have the stamina to go EOD for weeks at a time if I ovulate later than expected.

  • @keikilove so are you traveling to your clinic a bit earlier this time around to monitor your lining levels? Also, I'll share photo of MH's desk setup when it's all done! Maybe it'll inspire YH!

@LJMoon6 Oooh congrats on getting your finances all organized! The good thing is that age of credit is only medium-impact on your overall score; the one thing I noticed is usage is critical: if you keep your usage below 10%, it's has a very big positive impact on your overall score. Winter weather in CA is indeed amazing; and MH doesn't mind when it's 55-59 degrees (which is the usual temperature in the garage; he just puts on one of his cozy sweaters.)

@fantasyflyte I can't remember if I'd asked: did you have your androgen levels checked? Hopefully your doctor will hook you up with some meds so that you don't suffer.

@fameonmain2 lol about your dentist appointment! Glad you get the week off of school! Make sure to plan some time to unwind with all those errands you have planned!

@acleverusername nice! Well done on a productive weekend getting the office garage nearly sorted!

    @keikilove yay! Enjoy that sunshine

@LJMoon6 good luck with your credit score. I used to use credit karma and liked it. Annoyingly, I have a really good credit score in the US but it means nothing over here in the UK so I had to start all over. Regarding your caffeine question: I still drink caffeine, about two cups of tea a day, but I think tea has less caffeine than coffee. I’m pretty sure one (or even two) cups of coffee a day is still considered okay to drink.

@fantasyflyte oof sorry your eyebrow has been giving you grief. I hope the drs appointment gives you some answers

    Month/Cycle: 1/1

R/R: my upper back is really hurting me today. I think I must’ve slept funny last night or something. But I’m currently laying on the sofa while DH makes pancakes (aka crepes) for Pancake Day (which is how the UK celebrates Mardi Gras for some unknown reason)

Also, didn’t want to bump yesterday’s thread but a few asked what I do for work. I’m a histopathology medical laboratory assistant so I help scientists with inputting data and preparing specimens. Histopathology is the study of disease in tissue hence why I see organs all day long lol @keikilove you specifically asked about the placentas but I’m going to put my response in a spoiler because it’s definitely a TW

So we keep/study placentas for a few reasons. Sometimes the baby was fine/able to go home but they had a low birth weight or maybe the mother had a bad bleed for example so we keep placentas for two weeks just in case the baby does start to get unwell, we have the placenta to study instead of having to take tissue from the baby. We also keep placentas if the mother has had issues in the past (extra TW, stillbirth, miscarriage, etc.)

CS/Q: don’t really want to BD tonight with my back but will do 😂

Also, I hear you on starting over building credit... it was one of the most humiliating / humbling things when I moved to the US having had a credit history that was near perfect in Canada. I got denied credit on a car lease and I'm like... WTF?!

  • @fantasyflyte Sorry your eyebrow is still acting up. Man, that sounds painful! I really hope your doc can prescribe something for you.

@acleverusername Oh ya, the credit age was really the only thing I could do to improve my credit. The rest is in great standing. I think my usage is 2%, so that’s good lol. I like how credit karma lets you know how much impact it will have on your score. Super cool. I hadn’t even thought about moving to a different country and having to start all over with credit again. Dang, that sucks.

@jackie_dunny Ya, I know they say at least 1 cup of coffee a day is fine but I still get so anxious about everything. Blah. Your job sounds so interesting! When I got my biology degree I had in my head that I would be doing something like what you’re doing. Unfortunately I suck at biology and did terrible in school. And then I found out how hard it is to get ANY type of job with just a straight biology degree, with zero undergrad experience… That’s what led me back to school for a physics degree lol. Anyways, that was a longwinded way of me saying I’m super jealous of your job lol. Curious, what brought you to the UK?

@LJMoon6 I have no science background (quite the opposite actually with a theatre background lol) so I know how lucky I am to have this opportunity. The other MLAs (medical laboratory assistants) are a mix of science backgrounds (mostly biology like you) and other random ones but most of them have science-y backgrounds so I feel like a dummy a lot but everyone is super nice and explains everything to me and not in a condescending way either lol as for your question, DH is British. @acleverusername haven't had any PCOS-related bloodwork done, but my obgyn said she's fine with checking hormones when I see her again in April if we haven't had success yet. My PCP prescribed me prednisone for the eye issue so hopefully that clears up soon. I should probably look into whether or not prednisone can affect O so I know what to expect. If it knocks me out this cycle imma be pissed.

edit: looks like it could delay O, which honestly isn't terrible considering where I am in my cycle, and is better than a definite knockout of the cycle. I'll have to keep an extra close eye on my cm and temp the next couple weeks I guess.

@jackie_dunny sorry about your back, that sucks.
  • @jackie_dunny LOL thanks for reporting "back" in after you DTD! 😝

  • @jackie_dunny That is fascinating! *TW in spoiler box*
DS was spontaneously born early at 34 weeks, and I knew they sent his placenta off to be tested, and to keep for a little while just in case, but I never really knew who did that or exactly what they did, so this is super interesting to me!

    Month/Cycle: 1

CD: 119, I think. Feels like infinity.

    WAYDTGKU: BBT/CM/etc, OPKs, PNVs

R/R: I may or may not have spilled a small cup of urine on myself while dipping my OPK this afternoon. I tried to lie about why I was changing clothes to DH, but he knew. Apparently I did this a lot last time around too.

CS/Q: I called my doctor today since AF hasn’t shown up, but they can’t get me in for a few at least another week- right now my appointment is for the 26th. But maybe it’s for the best, because EWCM showed up today, I have a fertile cervical position, and I had an alllllmost positive OPK.

  • @acleverusername they didn't, thank goodness! Your home office setup sounds sweet! Sounds like it will be nice for YH to get some space to work again :)

@keikilove yay for beautiful weather and the soon-ish transfer!!

@ljmoon6 it stinks that the only way to improve credit is to have it for a long time. It's like trying to get a job that will give you experience but they want you to already have the experience. Double standard! I wish I could have gone somewhere too, we are hoping to maybe road trip in April! On the caffeine -- I still drink a lot of it. I think if we hit the year mark and some changes are necessary in our diets then I will give it up.

@fantasyflyte oh my goodness your eyeball sounds painful/frustrating!! Prednisone is a wonder for that, but it always messes with my O. I've heard for some that it just delays it, for me it always messes up my cycles big time (I have been prednisone twice since TTC for two unrelated reasons) but I have always had a history of it messing with my body and sleep cycle. I hope it doesn't delay it too much for you!

@jackie_dunny oof, give that back some rest! I just found out about pancake day this week (one of my fav Peloton instructor's instagram) and I'm all over that. Love pancakes! (also just saw your HIO update and I'm laughing haha)

  • @LJMoon6 re: coffee, MH and I switched to decaf when we started to TTC and that worked out well (we both love the taste of coffee, and no so much the effects of the caffeine.) But, after we hit a year of trying, we've been getting pretty sloppy with drinking caffeinated coffee and way more booze than we should. Gotta stay sane somehow.
