Had my first appointment with the OB today after graduating from my RE last week! Everything is looking good, and the SCH is definitely smaller than it was. She told me to keep my previously scheduled appointment for next week to keep an eye on it. But luckily it’s fairly small now and she’s really not too concerned.
I had my first pregnancy appointment and ultrasound today, 9w1d. Heart rate was 178, and baby measured at the right size. We discussed my risk for toxoplasmosis so we’re sending out some bloodwork to see if I have antibodies. Interestingly enough, my doctor advised waiting until I was out of the 1st trimester to get the COVID vaccine, so I’ll push my appointment out farther.
Don’t know if this counts as an appointment but I booked a boutique ultrasound for $50 when I’m just shy of 10 weeks (on February 20th). 2 reasons..... 1. DH and DD can come and since my first US was at urgent care I was alone and the image quality is crappy. // 2. I run a life + style blog and we are taking our “pregnancy announcement” photos the following day with my photographer.... I wanted something better than the crappy urgent care US. Baby might actually look more like a baby at that point too! Either way, I’m super stoked. My next formal appointment isn’t until March so this will be fun!
@runningonindie I'm going to do this towards the end of March so DD can go. She's sooo excited. My clinic is now allowing one person with appointments so DH can go to ultrasounds if I can make it work with his work schedule.
@runningonindie that’s exciting! I went to a boutique place with my last one around 15 weeks so that my older son could come since he was sooo excited about the pregnancy. It was a great experience!
Eagerly nervous for this week. I’m 10w today. Bc of both our advanced ages, I’m going to start genetic testing this week. Also, last visit, I was told I have a subchorionic hematoma. No exercise or sex, have a follow up appointment next week. I should be able to know gender as soon as we get the test results, though!

I my first ultrasound and first appointment is Monday, I’ll be 7w5d. I’m very nervous. I had a miscarriage a year and a half ago. This pregnancy has been very different though, I’ve had pretty bad morning sickness off and on, and all the other usual symptoms so I feel like things are ok. But last night I started feeling a pain in my lower pelvic area on the left side and it’s scaring me. No bleeding or cramps or anything. I want to assume it’s round ligament pain but seems early for that. Could also be my uterus growing and making room, so I’m clinging to one of those being the cause. Just want the ultrasound to go well, and find a strong heartbeat!
Had my first appointment at my OB clinic this. I really liked the NP I met with. I will be 35 when I deliver (bday is Sunday) so I will be of advanced maternal age and therefore qualify for an early glucose screening. I made the case that I just had a normal A1C (measures a 21 day average of your blood glucose) in October and I had no issues with my first so I will be waiting until the normal 28 week test. She also ordered another ultrasound to do before my 12 week appt. Only 10 more days until we can see the little beans again! And my clinic is now allowing 1 person with appointments so DH can go
@krash_ If the baby was measuring that big early on then yes, that would. Babies don’t gain the bulk of their weight until the end. So too big too early can definitely be a cause for concern.
@krash_ he was just over into the “large” category apparently. That was his birth weight. They were screening me for DS2, and I ended up passing both times. He was 9lbs 3oz at birth. My babies are just big 🤷♀️ If they want to screen me early this time I think I will decline.
I had my intake appointment yesterday. It was just a phone call with one of the OB nurses to go over my health history and the dos and don'ts (nothing new ). Tomorrow I have a midwife appointment that's apparently pretty long since they'll do a full physical exam and I'll get a bunch of bloodwork done.
I had my follow up u/s and intake appointment scheduled for 8:30 this morning and then I get there and she says I'm not on the schedule. Turns out they scheduled me at the downtown clinic and I usually go to the one in the suburbs. The front desk lady was like "if you leave now you should be able to make it within the 15 minute late grace period!" Um no thanks. Maybe if I sprinted down to my car and there was zero traffic but I've never been to the downtown clinic and I'm sure you have to park in a random ramp somewhere and I just don't want to huff and puff trying to get there only to be turned away. They were able to reschedule the ultrasound for 10:30 this morning but couldn't get me in for the intake appointment until Friday afternoon. But the u/s was to follow up on the one I had two weeks ago where baby's HR was low and today it was at 178! They also said the SCH looked smaller so not to worry about that.

Had my officially scheduled u/s and intake today. Got to see the little peanut with its heart beating away. It was such a relief! I don't know why, probably because of the spotting I've had on and off over the past few weeks, but I am so nervous about this little creature. Seeing that little heart beating and knowing its a good strong HR really helped put my mind at ease. There's an app where they send the u/s pictures to securely for me to view, which I find really cool. That technology definitely didn't exist when my first was born, and now I can share a few different shots with my husband not just the one shot on the printout.
They already drew a set of labs for me with my last impromptu visit in late Jan, so my visit was pretty short after the u/s. I went over my bloodwork results with the nurse and everything looks good so far, but my thyroid levels are slightly higher than they would like (normal for a non pregnant person). They booked me an endocrinologist appt for tomorrow so that the endo can help me to manage my tsh levels. My next creature-specific appt will be a call with the nurse next Friday to go over carrier screening results.
Just had my big intake appointment yesterday. Baby is jammed all the way up and to my right inside my uterus and very active. The doctor said that makes them difficult to visualize- and since it was a transvaginal ultrasound I DEFINITELY felt the difficulty 😳!
But, we managed to get a good listen to the heartbeat and everything sounds good. What a relief! Measuring 9+6 on what should be day 10+ something according to my due date, but again- hard to reach and moving a lot, and right on track compared to my last ultrasound. So, happy!
I had my first appointment this morning! ONE BABY, lol! Our childcare plans got squashed, so DH wasn't able to come. The ultrasound was so quick at, like, 2 minutes long! But everything looks good, baby is measuring right on point (9w1d) and the tech found the heartbeat immediately. Our little gummy bear wasn't moving at all during the ultrasound besides the flicker of the heartbeat, but the tech didn't find anything concerning!
I had questions written down in advance, but of course I forgot to ask about how they do the midwife rotations/who might be attending my birth, so I wrote myself a reminder to ask next time. Disappointingly, my blood pressure is already a bit elevated, which I had some concern about already. Because I was induced for preeclampsia last time, I was instructed to begin a daily baby aspirin regimen now. I hope it makes a difference. I'm so not used to taking regular medications daily, so that combined with the unisom/B6 and prenatal vitamins makes me feel like I'm pumping myself with meds. Since that makes 8 pills per day, I think I'm going to have to invest in a pill organizer. I've already found myself second guessing if I've already taken my unisom for the day.
I get to go back in just 3 weeks for my next visit, and they'll be doing another ultrasound (the nuchal translucency screening) and standard bloodwork. We likely won't be getting any genetic testing as long as this next scan looks good, we aren't aware of any risk factors, and I'm 31 so my insurance likely wouldn't cover it. I'm excited to get to see our little bean soon. It'll look so different in just 3 weeks!
@Aerialmrs that's interesting that they have you starting baby aspirin already. My BP was fine a my 6wk appointment but I should start checking it daily because I was induced for pre-e too and developed severe pre-e and was on magnesium after delivery.

@krash_ I was surprised, too. I wonder if my blood pressure goes back down at the next appointment if they'll want me to keep taking it or what. I might do some googling about it, too just to see what the consensus is elsewhere.
@Aerialmrs glad you just have one! I had my first kids appointment yesterday and I was started on baby aspirin too. I haven’t had pre e but based on other risk factors my midwife wanted me to start it.
@feelingjovani the NP on my intake call this afternoon was basically saying that baby aspirin is like the pregnancy magic pill for any risks. She was reading me the list and it even just said "first time moms" so basically everyone should just be on baby aspirin.

I had an appt yesterday at 10+2. Baby was measuring exactly on track so that was nice. got my NIPT blood draw and eagerly awaiting results. I am meeting with a new OB next Friday so hopefully will get to check in on baby again. Then nuchal the following week.
Had my first appointment on Thursday, baby was measuring right on track at 8 weeks, saw and heard that little heart beat, 147 bmp.
Because of my history and now 35 year “senior” age, I’ll be seeing my regular obgyn and high risk specialist. So my next appointment will be 12 weeks with the specialist.
I have bloodwork this week and then at 10 weeks.
Seems like I’ll be VERY busy with all these appointments.
@Aerialmrs - my OB told me they’d start me on a daily baby aspirin at 12 weeks! I had “gestational hypertension” last time (not quite Pre-E) and they feel it will help. Seems to be a common recommendation.
Had my first appointment with my new GP today, mostly just getting medical history but he did pull out the Doppler and found the heart beat! 160 bpm, so feeling pretty good about it. The doctor let me record the heart beat on my phone too so my husband got to hear it as soon as I got home.
Had my appointment yesterday! Everything was good except my OB changed my DD, so I'm not a week behind what I originally though which is a bummer. DH was also able to go the appointment and see the baby so that was great! We originally were going to try and do the NIPT really just to get a sneak peak at the sex extra early, but we found out that it will cost $350 since our insurance only covers the quad screen so that's going to be a no go. Next appointment is in 3 weeks!
I had a great appointment. She peeked at baby on the ultrasound and everything looks great! The HR was 170. I am moving forward with the genetic screening with blood work. She said I didn’t need the nuchal translucency US because it’s all covered in the blood work. She also scheduled me a follow up US to check my SCH. Since we found a heart defect in one of our kiddos recently I will be scheduled for a fetal echocardiogram between 22 and 24 weeks. I also got a referral to the PT for hip pain. It was a great appointment and I love my doctor. She delivered my last baby and she is just so calm and she listens well. I most certainly didn’t feel rushed during the appointment at all.
I had my 10 week appointment today. Little bean was so active. I got a great video of the baby stretching and kicking and wiggling around. Baby is measuring 2 days ahead and looks great. Heart beat measured at 163. I did a lot of blood work today for genetic screenings and should get those results in 1-2 weeks. Just happy that everything is going smoothly!
M14 January Siggy Challenge: Resolution I have no intention of keeping...SHOPPING LESS!
Had my 12 week appointment today. Found out I will be getting monthly ultrasounds to track growth for both babies since measuring the stomach isn't accurate with twins and you can't always rely on finding both babies on doppler. She also switched my 16 week appt to in person and the 20 week to a phone visit.
@emeraldcity1214 having a doc you like makes all the difference! That’s great.
I saw a new OB today that I’m considering switching to. We checked on baby and they are looking good at 11 weeks which was a nice reassurance even though I saw last week too. this is the first time I have a posterior placenta so that’s exciting! How soon did you guys feel baby with a posterior placenta? My last two were both anterior and at first she thought this was too and I was like- really? Again?!
@agea I agree, a good doctor you like can make a world of difference. I have a posterior placenta this time and I’m already feeling movement. I have felt it about once a day now for a few days. I’m 10+2. It’s usually when I’m sitting still and eating or nursing the baby because those are literally the only times I’m sitting still throughout the day. 😆 I’m super excited!
@emeraldcity1214 that’s awesome! I’ve felt a bunch of stuff that feels totally like movement but I know it’s gas based on location and strength. I’ll be excited when I can actually identify the difference! I usually haven’t really felt much till after 20w so hoping much earlier this time.
