GTKY: what’s the story behind your username? It's my maiden initials, an extra letter, and my birthday. I really should stop using it but it's been one of my go to screen names since back on the Yahoo chat days of the late 90s/early 2000s.
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a fanny pack, a loaf of bread or head of cauliflower
Upcoming appointments: Next Tuesday (how is it February next week already??)
How are you feeling?: Good, tired, tired.....did I mention tired?
Rants/Raves: RAVES: Quarantine is almost over. We did have our usual family over this weekend bc we all tested negative late last week, so DS was super happy to see his uncles again. As difficult as quarantining with a 3 yo is, I'm glad we had this time before baby comes. DS had become way clingy with mommy again in the last month or two, so for DS and DH to have some bonding time before baby has been amazing. They're having so much fun. Rant: I feel like I'm just existing for the next 6 weeks. Just a shell of a person, I'm so run down and tired.
Questions: TMI but has anyone's BO changed? I don't normally have bad BO but man, lately.....I'm grossing myself out.
GTKY: what’s the story behind your username? An old coworker used to call me juliebean for some reason, and it just stuck. Most people in my life don't actually call me this so it made for an easy username lol.

Upcoming appointments: had a phone appointment today, next appt is in two weeks
How are you feeling?: just like the rest of you- big and tired. And also cranky
Rants/Raves: I made beef stew yesterday in the instant pot and it was pretty disappointing. I had been looking forward to it for quite some time and I'm not sure what I did wrong. I'm thinking maybe because the broth was low sodium I didn't compensate enough with the salt and other spices but I'm usually pretty heavyhanded with spices so I don't really know what happened.

GTKY: what’s the story behind your username? It's a nickname my brother used to call me when I was little and it has become my go-to username ever since getting my first email address back in the day (back when yahoo email addresses were popular lol)
@kloe818 For some reason I always assumed your actual name was Kloe
@juliebeannn yesss it's been this way the whole pregnancy. Even right after I shower I feel like I smell horrible, like onions and BO. my H says I don't actually smell bad but I don't know if I believe him

GTKY: what’s the story behind your username? I tend to go with the first thing that pops in my head. And duhduhduck was apparently it that day!
@duhduhduck I have a spectra s1 from my first pregnancy and it was great. Not being connected to the wall and pumping from wherever was necessary bc I ended up being an exclusive pumper. This time I'm taking the portability to the next level with an Elvie pump - hands free and wires free.

GTKY: what’s the story behind your username? The story is that I was in my late teens when I created this account 🤦♀️ it was originally a 'The Knot' account because I thought I was gonna marry the guy I was dating at the time 🤣 it sounds super childish to me now but oh well 🤷♀️
@duhduhduck I got the spectra S1 and then bought freemie cups to be hands free. My insurance doesn't cover the willow and elvie completely and I didn't want to come outta pocket for the difference... the spectra has great reviews and was completely covered so that's why I went with it. 😊
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: large bag of chips

How are you feeling?: holy crap heartburn and reflux. Never had this last time and it’s killing me when it hits.
Rants/Raves: rant - see above. Rave - DD1 is being adorable lately in learning all sorts of new stuff and it’s super cool to watch her learn and grow. Cant wait to see the 2 of them interact.
Questions:
GTKY: what’s the story behind your username? Pupper+random alliteration
@duhduhduck I got the spectra s2. I didn't have the greatest success with breastfeeding last time around but it wasn't the pump's fault, it was great! I chose it after looking through a lot of reviews and recommendations. If I'm more successful this time around I may consider using some of my FSA funds for freemie vs the elvie or willow

How are you feeling?: Struggling with fasting sugar and difficulty sleeping. 😑
Rants/Raves: Rants- This week has been a rough one emotionally. Found out I have GD, and spent the evening in L&D for contractions. 😩 Started having Braxton Hicks for hours straight earlier today. They gave me a shot to stop them and an IV. So thankful I was not dilated, so they believe it was from dehydration. That’s hard for me to believe because I’ve been excessively thirsty. I’m still contracting tonight, but thank God not as bad.
Rave- I’m thankful I haven’t been craving anything really. It has made completely changing my diet so much easier.

Upcoming appointments: Follow-Up at MFM and OB on 2/10
How are you feeling?: Feeling pretty good, slowing down more, but I've done a lot of prep work for the girls. The nursery is pretty much ready at this point.
Rants/Raves: My rant is that it snowed here, just enough to be a pain haha! And now that I'm so close to the end, snow/ice is kind of my biggest fear. I have a former coworker that went into labor with her second child during an actual blizzard and the EMTs couldn't get her out in time and she gave birth at home.
My rave is that my virtual baby shower was really nice. It felt good to be "seen" if that makes sense, since I've felt for a while that I'm basically just going to start showing up places with two kids after everyone is vaccinated hahaha. My SiL made it really special, and it was wonderful to have people excited for the girls' arrival.

@bcashaw Oh! Our personal quarantine. DS's class had a positive case so since he was exposed, we've been in a 14 day quarantine. Definitely not clear of this pandemic yet.....sigh. Upcoming appointments: Feb 9 for 36 week appointment and "bonus" growth check ultrasound (baby was measuring on the small side at 32 week growth check)
How are you feeling?: Starting to really waddle and (fingers crossed) my reflux seems to be diminishing somewhat, so I think the baby might be beginning her descent. Sleeping terribly, can't get comfortable no matter what.
Rants/Raves: Rant - just feeling overwhelmed and underprepared for this baby to arrive. I feel like we have no idea what we are doing, and getting extra help the first few weeks/months due to COVID and family issues will be a real challenge. Rave - we adopted two new kitties last weekend, which has been a balm after our cat's traumatic passing a few weeks ago. They are sooo sweet and snuggly and I love them.
Questions: 1) Any good how-to manuals for the baby's first months/years of life? I'm looking for something like a complete idiot's guide to parenting that I can use as a reference book. 2) What's something baby-related that you thought you had to do, but figured out you could let slide?
GTKY: what’s the story behind your username? Cassandra Mortmain is the main character in "I Capture the Castle" by Dodie Smith, one of my all-time favorite books.
@kloe818 I literally pee constantly. I peed before my ultrasound 2 weeks ago (literally the bathroom is RIGHT outside of MFM) and by the end of my ultrasound the tech was commenting on how full my bladder was and am I a teacher because she normally only sees this in teachers.
@juliebeannn I've been locked up tighter than usual too, my virtual hospital tour was basically like "we'll take good care of you, even if you have Covid, but please take every precaution possible and don't have Covid for delivery." Also, I think the BO thing is so the baby can smell you and find the boob, weirdly.
@manillabar I find beef stew can be so disappointing so easily, which is a bummer because I love it.
@firsttimemamabear9 I find myself thinking a lot about how wonderful it will feel when some of these symptoms subside and the girls are out! Haha!
@duhduhduck I'm no help on the pump front, my OB told me to wait until I'm in the hospital and they'll order it for me through my insurance - I may need to rent a hospital grade pump though since twins.
@princessjenney So so scary to see a leakage of any kind! Hoping you hold out until c-section date!
@xvividash So sorry that it was such a scary few days!!! Hopefully things calm down soon! I would try to get some sugar-free electrolytes to help with dehydration - Mio drops are sugar free, just make sure you get the ones with electrolytes!!!

@mvt2003 Thank you so much for that awesome suggestion!! I will definitely pick those up!! That will help the boredom of just water too lol! I had to go in to see my OB again this morning, because my contractions have continued. He is prescribing something to calm my uterus down. I pray it works. That and I'm so thankful because my sugar has improved so much that he decided I don't need insulin after all, and can give me something orally instead. Soooo happy and relieved.
@xvividash I love Mio, it's saved me this pregnancy. I also love to mix some chia seeds in to get some iron and fiber!

Okay everyone, just wanted to jump back in with another update. I've been having twice weekly NSTs with my OB, plus an additional appointment each week with my high risk doctor. Every week she checks the blood flow between baby girl and the placenta and the fluid around her (it's still looking good so far), and every other week we also do a growth scan. So three appointments weekly. It's been a lot, but I'm so glad we're checking on baby so often! She's continued to get further behind, and actually at my last growth scan yesterday, she grew even less than her normal. So the plan now is that if her growth is this low again at my next growth scan in two weeks, we'll be delivering (I'm currently 32w4d). Because of this news, my OB has also decided to go ahead with the steroid shots in case we need to deliver in the next two weeks. I had my first dose today and will get the second dose tomorrow morning. We also had the follow up with cardiology back at the beginning of this month and they've determined that it'll be okay for me to deliver at my hospital here, but baby girl will have an echo before we're discharged. We're expecting delivery to be a c-section, and if growth looks better in two weeks, we'll keep going with things, but we won't be going past 37 weeks (February 28). All in all, we're having a baby next month! Just praying for her to be as healthy as possible when she arrives, and for NO MORE complications (for either of us!) I'm honestly really nervous about a c-section, and delivery in general. I want her to be okay, and we obviously don't know how she's going to do on the outside until she's here. I've been reading through some really great premie accounts on IG though, where babies were born very early and very small, and they're thriving now, so that's been a great encouragement.
Wish I could join you ladies on FB but I don't have an account! If anyone wants to connect on IG, though, I think that would be awesome. We could start a little group chat on there or something. Anyway, I'll be back again with more when there's more to share.
@annanbby Sending lots of positivity and prayer your way 💖
I'm so glad to hear the plan they have in place for y'all, sounds like you're receiving great care and they're really on top of things 💗 C-sections are a serious thing but I found my planned c-section (which I had with my 10yo who was breech) to be very calm. I knew well in advance so I had plenty of time to mentally prepare. I think that helped a lot. We've scheduled a repeat c/s for this pregnancy.
Id be happy to meet up on instagram, bit understand i havent been around so others may not.be comfortable with me yet. Sorry to hear things have been so stressful @annanbby
@princessjenney we've definitely been blessed with an incredible care team. My doctors have been so thorough, so we're really thankful for that. I've heard a couple times that planned c-sections tend to be calm, which is encouraging. The idea of a major surgery is scary because it'll be my first surgery I've had, plus I'm a worrier so I have all this "what if this happens or this happens" thoughts going through my head. I talked to my doctor about it though, and he said that from the point they begin, it's about 2 minutes to get her out, and then 15 minutes to close up, which was way less time than I expected. So that helps a bit with my nerves, too!
