Upcoming appointments: Friday MFM for growth scan bc of my history of high BP.
How are you feeling?: ok, lots of pressure and kicks
Rants/Raves: rant is not sleeping well... A good night is two wake ups. Rave is only 4 days of work left in the OR, I can do this lol.
Questions:
GTKY: Where is the most relaxing place you’ve ever been to? probably this luxury cruise like 7 years ago haha. MIL took us all and it was just insanely nice and the took such good care of us. We went to Greece and turkey.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: celery or a fanny pack?
Upcoming appointments: next week for check-up.
How are you feeling?: Doc recommended tylenol for pain and either Benadryl or unisom for sleep and ok'd Tylenol PM to help with the pain and related lack of sleep. I sleep so much better with one pm than I do with 2 and I am feeling so much better. Still napping and OMG am I warm all the time!
Rants/Raves: my library space is crowded with stuff that belongs in the nursery, but it's not done yet so I can't move it all in there. Nesting urge is getting to me big time. I can't do anything with it though.
Questions:
GTKY: Where is the most relaxing place you’ve ever been to? My friend's fire pit in northern Vermont. No lie. Wrapped in a blanket watching the fire, having a lemonade or iced tea (hubby and I don't really drink so...) and just shooting the *hit with friends for hours on end. I can't almost feel the near constant breeze and the birds if I close my eyes.... And then someone starts yelling at their kids and hubby and I look at each other and hold up a single finger... One and done. 🤣
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a license plate lol
Upcoming appointments: Today, MFM Ultrasound to see how he's tracking
How are you feeling?: big but good
Rants/Raves: I get to see my baby again today!
Questions:
GTKY: Where is the most relaxing place you’ve ever been to? This is going to sound cheesy but my house. We bought this house about a year and a half ago and it's the 1st place I've ever felt was my "home". I feel like we're on our own little island here and I feel safe. I moved around a lot as a kid and always apartments... then I joined the military as a teen.
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a store bought loaf of sliced bread
Upcoming appointments: had an u/s this past weekend for growth
How are you feeling?: decent overall although I complain about half the day. Definitely slowing down
Rants/Raves: I'm actually not sure if this is a rant or a rave - I'm starting to write up all my transfer memos to transfer files at work. Pain in the butt as there's so many, but definitely makes it seem more real! Rave - growth scan this past weekend went well, she's weighing in at about 5lbs so around the 66th %ile. She's apparently a long legged little bean though, currently 96th %ile for femur length
Questions:
GTKY: Where is the most relaxing place you’ve ever been to? I'm not a good relaxer, I like to do stuff! Maybe up on my dad's farm where it's quiet, and you can go for hikes in the forest on their property or hang out with some animals.
Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: Feb. 2nd Ground Hogs day c-section scheduled, 34 weeks today!
FTM/STM/STM+: Fourth
Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Team Pink x 2
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: 2 Pineapples
Upcoming appointments: OBGYN Thursday for NST.
How are you feeling?: I had painful contractions last night and woke up with them again...chugging water like it's my job to keep the contractions at bay and keep these babies cooking longer!
Rants/Raves: I had a growth ultrasound and BPP this morning at MFM and both babies now weight 4lbs 4oz! We were extremely concerned two weeks ago because there was an 18% discordance between their weights...now it's 1% (Baby A gained 1 whole pound!)...Truly amazing and a blessing!
Questions:
GTKY: Where is the most relaxing place you’ve ever been to? My Mom's place on the water in FL.
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: 2 heads of cabbage
Upcoming appointments: MFM is next week, OB on the 10th.
How are you feeling?: I feel like a broken record, but things are less and less comfortable haha. I'm also simultaneously nesting, so I'm trying really hard not to overdo it because I definitely pay for it later.
Rants/Raves: Our new shed is being delivered Monday! Which means things can clear out of my basement like the lawnmower haha! I also have to finish my nursery organization this week, since I'm doing my virtual shower from the nursery on Sunday!
Questions: Nope
GTKY: Where is the most relaxing place you’ve ever been to? It's funny, I'm not really a "relaxing" sort of person - I always like to be doing fun activities!

@kloe818 I'm right there with you with all this pent up nesting energy. I was telling DH that it's like a compulsion. I neeeeeeed to get the nursery done but I can't lol @travandas I hope the contractions chill out a bit so those little babes can keep cooking! @princessjenney I totally feel the same way about our house. We did a gut renovation last year and it was perfect timing with covid and all. DH and I constantly say that there's no place else we'd rather be quarantined lol

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a cantaloupe
Upcoming appointments: I was supposed to have one yesterday but cancelled due to being quarantine.
Rants/Raves: (Switched up the order of questions) DS's daycare teacher tested positive for covid on Thursday so we're hunkered down for 2 weeks. The daycare actually had 4 unrelated cases in the last 2 weeks (all different classrooms and both teachers and students), so they've shut down for the week. It brings me back to the stay at home orders in March/April last year and it's amazing to see how much DS has changed and grown since then!! Thankfully, DH's job has him quarantined bc DS's exposure, so he's on daddy daycare while I work.
How are you feeling?: Symptoms spotting for covid is annoying. I know it's unlikely that I'll get it again (low exposure risk and hopeful that I still have antibodies) but I'm still anxious about it. We're getting tested later this week after a week incubation period. But, as a result of our quarantine, progress on the nursery has halted. I had gotten as far as putting samples up on the walls but now I can't get the paint to actually paint. My BIL was supposed to help move some heavy furniture out of the room which also couldn't happen so we can't really move forward with the nursery for another week. I've got all this pent up nesting energy that I can't use and it's making me crazy. Now, I have decided to paint an accent wall in our living room while we're at it though, so once quarantine is up, ALL THE PAINTING will be happening lol.

Upcoming appointments: just my regular appointment in two weeks. The doctor said I could do it virtually because things are looking so great!!
How are you feeling?: exhausted and sore!! Ready for baby to be here.
Rants/Raves: rave- my OB was finally nice to me haha. She didn’t make any condescending comments about my eating habits or weight gain.
Questions:
GTKY: Where is the most relaxing place you’ve ever been to? Probably Berlin. I did an exchange there for my first degree and my husband and I got engaged there. I find it so comforting, even if it’s a big city!!
@kloe818 Love your description of your most relaxing place. I’ll be one of those parents yelling at their kids and breaking the flow of relaxation.
@finnflan I’m also more of an adventure traveller; less so if two kids are in the mix!
@juliebeannn Fingers crossed you and your family don’t get it again.
@jfcmomoftwo I love Berlin. Have you returned with kids? It’s such a baby and kid friendly city. They had so many baby cafes where kids play and mom can hunker down with a cup of coffee.
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a puppy
Upcoming appointments: first week of February for a fetal echo
How are you feeling?: Tired and low energy. DS can’t have lunch at daycare cause I’m exempt from work and that service is reserved for working parents. The only thing that drives me kind of insane is the two hour lunch break in the middle of the day. So I drop off DS at school at 8:00, pick him up at noon, return to school at 2:00 and then pick him up at 16:00. I like the time with DS but leaving the house six times a day is getting to be a bit much. Especially cause I have to put shoes on!
Rants/Raves: I shouldn’t complain cause I’m not working and it’s been great having the time to be at home.
Questions: none
GTKY: Where is the most relaxing place you’ve ever been to? I can honestly say that no place is really ever relaxing so long as kids are involved. It’s not because DS wild or uncontrollable, it’s just cause I’m thinking about the needs of somebody else all the time, ‘Is he thirsty, hungry, comfortable, safe, etc.’ Last year I had go to Switzerland for work. It was one of two solo trips without SO and DS. I purposely booked a spa hotel two days in advance of the conference so I could pamper myself. That was amazing.
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: I don't know
Upcoming appointments: 2/1 for regular checkin
How are you feeling?: uncomfortable. Sitting down for extended periods does not agree with me.
Rants/Raves:
Questions: Anyone else have experience with large head circumference? I had my growth scan today and my midwife semmed somewhat concerned bc the head measured in the 97th percentile. A student did the scan, so she thought maybe that had something to do with it.
GTKY: Where is the most relaxing place you’ve ever been to? Probably Scotland. The highlands just gave me a feeling. Really anytime we are traveling and just find a pub and sit and drink and talk and laugh is the best.
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: store bought loaf of sliced bread
Upcoming appointments: telephone visit next week
How are you feeling?: exhausted. Have I mentioned that I hate my job? Two more weeks before I start cutting back and I can't wait.
Rants/Raves: see above lol. work and life has had me drained lately.
Questions:
GTKY: Where is the most relaxing place you’ve ever been to? Aruba on my honeymoon. The weather was essentially perfect everyday. I'm dying to go back for one of our anniversaries (without kids lol)

@redselig yes I have!! My husband and I weren’t married when we had our first, so our son actually got to be at our engagement in Berlin. It’s funny though because when I lived there for school, I was super into partying and got really into the club scene there and loved it. Then when we went back for our engagement, I saw how family friendly it was and loved it even more. Such a diverse city haha.
Sorry I've been MIA everyone! It's been a stressful few weeks...

Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: It's a girl!
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Baby is as tall as a hammer
Upcoming appointments: Feb 9 for 36 week regular prenatal and an unexpected extra growth scan. Baby was measuring on the small side (though still within normal range) at my 32 week growth scan last week. She was 46th percentile at 28 weeks and down to 17th percentile at 32 weeks Also, her heart rate was quite high - 190, though it later dropped to around 160 or so. The midwife wasn't too worried because my blood pressure is normal and the baby is quite active with no other apparent issues, but of course I'm worried!! I also have to keep my eye out for signs of preeclampsia, especially because my numb fingers problem persists.
How are you feeling?: Swollen, tired, and REFLUX galore. Nothing like waking up in the middle of the night gagging on your own stomach acid. The doc okayed Pepcid complete and I was chowing it down, but I'm trying to cut back for fear of giving myself kidney stones. Sleep is elusive and lying on my side makes my hips hurt like crazy. I'm ready to get this baby out of me!
Rants/Raves: Rant - my beloved cat died suddenly and very unexpectedly last week. There were no warning signs. She was just sitting in my lap and I was petting her, and she let out this horrible meow and started gasping for breath and vomiting. We rushed her to the emergency vet but there was nothing they could do. It was traumatic and awful and I spent several days just boo hoo hooing around the house. Rave - we are adopting two new rescue kittens! We are picking them up this weekend. Although they won't replace my adored kitty, we are sure looking forward to having two new snuggle bums.
Questions: ST(+)Ms, what's something you didn't think you needed, but ended up using all the time?
GTKY: Where is the most relaxing place you’ve ever been to? I am also a bad relaxer, but I would say I am most relaxed whenever I get to have girl time with my sister. A few years ago, she got us a groupon to do a spa day at a fancy hotel in Beverly Hills. We got massages, relaxed in the sauna, and lounged by the pool. It was sooo nice and luxurious!
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a bunch of asparagus
Upcoming appointments: Growth sono and OB appointment next week
How are you feeling?: Had a scare over the weekend where little man was not moving as much as usual but I now think he was just changing positions because he's now situated on the opposite side of my belly and back to his usual antics.
Rants/Raves: Rave - Our two year old slept in his new room last night! He went right to sleep and stayed in his big boy bed all night! He also started potty training three weeks ago and really seems to have it down.
Questions: N/A
GTKY: Where is the most relaxing place you’ve ever been to? Jamaica for our honeymoon!
@redselig yes I have!! My husband and I weren’t married when we had our first, so our son actually got to be at our engagement in Berlin. Then when we went back for our engagement, I saw how family friendly it was and loved it even more. Such a diverse city haha.
Haha yes, I love how accommodating the city is according to priorities. 😀 Last time DS and I were there we stayed with a good friend who was kid-free at the time. When I put DS to bed she was just warming up to get ready to go out. I told her my coming home at 3am days were over. 😂
@cmortmain So sorry about your poor cat. I have the same hip pain issues and putting a pillow in between my legs seems to alleviate some of the pain. I only had a couple of muslin swaddle cloths in the beginning but realized how handy they were for everything - sun protection, makeshift tummy time blanket, emergency clothing in case poonamis. I think I have about seven or eight just to make sure I always have some on hand while the others are in the wash.
@cmortmain I'm so sorry about your cat, how hard that must have been. Yay for two new kitties! One item I didn't know I would use as much is the boppy pillow- literally used it 24/7. And I learned that you should definitely bring it to the hospital- it might seem like too much, but It would have been so much more comfortable to nurse with that instead of stacking a bunch of hospital pillows, plus would have allowed me to learn different positions right there ( instead of later at home)
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Large movie theater popcorn.
Upcoming appointments: 1/27
How are you feeling?: Feeling good! Just starting to get tired very easily. 😂
Rants/Raves: My rant is the lab where I did my glucose test last week ordered the wrong thing and something happened to my blood where they couldn’t use it... So I had to go do the one hour test again today. I hope I pass because I really don’t want to go a third time and for three hours. 🤢 My rave is I didn’t throw up after it. 😂
Questions:
GTKY: Where is the most relaxing place you’ve ever been to? Growing up in Florida it was always the beach for me. Really anywhere near water. I absolutely love it.
@cmortmain second the boppy pillow! i honestly used it most at first to sit on because i tore and couldn't sit for atleast 5 days. this thing was a life saver to sit on and i didn't learn it until about 4 days in with my first. what a difference it was with my second! if you are planning to nurse, then definitely a hakaa. I didn't know what this was until a couple months into my nursing journey (i knew nothing going into my journey). bless this item. i never pumped at home with my babe, only had to at work.
The haaka is amazing!! I used it right away- to catch the letdown from wherever side baby wasn't nursing from and this allowed me to build a little freezer supply without pumping. Plus a huge relief when feeling engorged. Pro tip: watch YouTube videos on how to attach correctly
2nd-ing (or 4th-ing) the haakaa!! It doesn’t work for everyone but it was amazing for me. I’d get like 3-4oz from letdown almost every feeding, which helped build an amazing freezer stash without having to do much extra. Do watch for it getting too full though as it will fall off (or be kicked off by a child...) which feels devastating in the moment haha.
@redselig@sunny_native14@nagrom9319 Thank you for the suggestions! I will inventory my muslin blankets (I've gotten several as hand-me-downs but it's all sitting in a big pile o' baby laundry to be done) and will definitely try to remember to bring a boppy to the hospital. I've also ordered a haakaa - I'm pretty nervous about breastfeeding so this is a great idea to try!
