Saturday- Chicken Pot Pie Sunday- Steak, salad, french fries Monday- Butterchicken with rice Tuesday- Tacos Wednesday- Ravioli Thursday- Red curry chicken Friday- Breakfast for dinner (pancakes, eggs) **All of our meals are served with cut up fresh veggies and fruit as our kids dont like theirs cooked.**
I use a service called Cook Smarts, and it’s a total game changer! It’s about $5 a month and they give you 4 adaptable recipes and a dynamic grocery list each week. You still do your own shopping so it’s not like a meal delivery service... hard to explain all the benefits but I love it so much.
Sa- Steaks, mushroom risotto, asparagus S- Takeout M- Pot roast with mashed potatoes T- Balsamic roasted veggie salad w/ chicken W- French dip sandwiches (using leftover pot roast), mixed greens salad Th- Lemon chicken orzo soup F- Pizzas/ stromboli
I always have the intention of doing this and planning meals for the week, but it never pans out. We always end up with take out and leftovers because the weeks get so busy with afterschool/work activities or I'm too tired to cook. Do you all cook every night or prep stuff on the weekends?
I do all of our meal planning and grocery list making/shopping. My husband tends to cook more than me although with my recent job switch it’s closer to 50/50 now. I try to plan quick/easy meals for the week and usually only plan 5 per week to be realistic and give wiggle rooms for nights that are busy or we don’t feel like cooking. I don’t necessarily assign them to a specific day. Instead a keep a list on the fridge of the meal options and their respective receipt locations if applicable (is Pinterest or hello fresh). We also some weeks get two meals from Hello Fresh. This week I was apparently in a Mexican themed mood lol Sa - takeout Su - chicken bowls (hello fresh) M - tacos and Spanish rice other meals: chili grilled chicken salads and garlic bread (hello fresh) fish taco bowls (Pinterest recipe)
I do our plan and grocery order every week and then DH and I share the cooking responsibilities (although when DH cooks he usually starts way too late and we're always waiting around to eat dinner/getting cranky etc.). We alternate, if I'm cooking then he picks DS up from daycare and vice versa. Our plan for this week: Sunday was pizza delivery cause this mama was DONE Monday - Tortellini with sausage and broccoli Tuesday - spicy chicken wings and bagged salad (DS will likely have nuggets instead of wings) Wednesday - tacos Thursday - Lasanga Friday - Leftover Lasagna
Thanks for starting this thread! I’m a meal planning newbie so this is really helpful (before our son and the pandemic, we ate out A LOT 😬🤦🏽♀️).
We just restarted HelloFresh this week so a good chunk of the week is already planned lol. I’m also pretty loose with the schedule. I buy all the ingredients and then switch meals around as needed. Inevitably, there’s 1-2 days of takeout, in which case I’ll push one of the meals to the next week.
Monday - Mediterranean style chicken with rice and cucumber salad (HelloFresh) Tuesday - Pizza takeout (HelloFresh meal was planned but I was too tired to cook 🙈) Wednesday- Pork with green beans and potato wedges (HelloFresh) Thursday - Steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus (HelloFresh) Friday - Grilled salmon, little gems/avocado salad, and corn on the cob Saturday - Hamburgers Sunday - Tacos
We use a meal subscription, Dinnerly! It’s 5 meals a week for about $60 including delivery and we think it’s awesome. You still have to chop and cook everything yourself but they send all the groceries. It’s reduced our food waste by a lot
@DuchessOfCambridge That sounds great, and so much cheaper than HelloFresh (which also includes chopping and cooking everything lol). I’m going to check it out; thanks for mentioning it!
@DuchessOfCambridge that does sound much cheaper than HelloFresh! How are the portions? We are often hungry after our HelloFresh meals. We get the two person meal for my husband, food loving 2 year old and myself.
@kime783 I signed up for 4 portions for myself, husband, and 22 month old, assuming we’d have 1-2 portions leftover for lunch the next day. So far there’s only been like half a portion left over 🙈😅
@DuchessOfCambridge Thanks! I’ll check them out online and send you a message if we decide to try them out.
