It snowed yesterday, which was amazing because the last time it snowed here was three years ago and twice in four years is actually a lot more than usual. However, daycare was closed today... so I'm stuck with my kid when the semester is about to begin and I have shit to do.
Eek! It’s hard to get real things done with littles around!
DH had a big team meeting conference call today, and my job was to keep 3 toddlers quiet for a few hours. Plus my 9 year old needed my help with zoom school work. And it was pouring out so the bigger toddlers couldn’t even play on the deck.
My husband and I decided that when our car lease is up (in like 2 weeks) we are just going to turn in our suv and hold off on getting another vehicle right now--since he is working from home and I'm not currently working, it didn't make financial sense to take on another unnecessary car payment when we have a perfectly fine (paid off) car. But now the airbag warning light keeps going on/off randomly in that car, the tire pressure light is constantly on even though the tires are fine, etc. I am like terrified to drive it anywhere now bc I dont know if the airbags are functioning properly! Ugh. So now on top of dealing with turning in the other car, I have to take this one in to get checked out and I HATE dealing with mechanics bc I feel like they're always trying to take advantage of me bc I'm a woman and know jack squat about cars
@nsk489 I sympathize. I also hate dealing with mechanics. My fiancé knows nothing about cars but I still send him to get done what we need to do at the garage. But then he doesn't ask questions and has no idea what is it that they fixed 🤦♀️
@nsk489 ugh that’s the worst, but get it checked & fix any little issues before you turn your lease in! The dealership will super overcharge you for any issues. And I hate how they pressure you SO much to get another lease.
I’m back. Sorry. But it looks like our school district is planning on sending k-2 back to school at the start of February. And grades 3-6 at the end of February. We still have the option to do 100% online, but our state numbers are not good. They peaked about a month ago but are still about 2,000 new cases a day. Mostly in the Seattle area where we live. So my kid will be one of probably a handful that won’t be going back to school until she has a vaccine. She gets super high fevers with the flu and other colds, plus has asthma that only acts up when sick. So yah, no school for her or my older one. I can’t imagine sending them into school to get exposed like that. It’s frustrating because I know when they go back to school, there will be an explosion of new cases in the area.
@yellingbanana I had to go look up the population of your area. It looks like the greater Seattle area has about the same population as the whole country of Panama. We´ve been hitting between 3000 and 5000 daily for the last two weeks. It´s crazy. And yesterday the Ministry of Education said that school will be all online the first trimester (March to May) Lots of parents are really distressed and lots of kids from the countryside who don´t have access to wifi and computers have to miss more classes. I worry about my toddler learning how to socialize and what it will be like when the baby comes. We live in a small deadend street so its hard not to let him play with the other kids because everyone is so close.
Ugh, our numbers are awful here too (relatively, at least -- hospitals reporting at capacity), and we are a college town with the students about to return =( And I have to go teach them =( So impressed, honestly, with parents who keep their kids at home. With college kids I feel like they should all be at home, there's no excuse, it's not like they need parental supervision (or they shouldn't anyway).
They've already started sending our younger kids back full time with no virtual option (or are about to, I don't have school aged kids yet so I'm not 100% on top of it) and our numbers are terrible; our county has consistently had above a 30% positive rate for the last couple of weeks and our metro area is the worst in the nation for mid-size regions. But sure let's send everybody back full time!
@queen_frostine thanks, I appreciate that. Sometimes it seems like I’m the crazy jerk trying to prevent my family from not getting covid19! I’m sorry you have to go in with college students, that should be all online. I actually preferred my online college classes vs in person!
@gusgus14 dang. I’d be pulling my kids out UO be homeschooled. Which, even as a teacher, is not my jam with 3 toddlers around. Aren’t we pretty constantly having our new worst day ever as a country when it comes to covid numbers? (Minus HI). And now seems like a good time to send kids back to school? Insane. Good luck and stay safe!
Y'ALL. I am annoyed. So you know I just had to take my 3 hour glucose test and I passed and yay woohoo whatever. So today I go for my OB check up and she starts talking about doing a 2 hour test in a few weeks because I'd probably fail the 1 hour again if I took it because I failed the first time and blah, blah, blah. So I asked why I have to take another if I already passed the 3 hour test and she goes "Oh well that was your early screening, you still have to do a screening around the 'normal' time." Nobody has said anything about me having to repeat it again later regardless of results and I'm just really annoyed and cannot wait to get my regular OB back. The one I'm seeing now is just not a great communicator and that's one of my biggest pet peeves. She did say if MFM is happy with how the babies are looking and their growth numbers then I won't have to take it but freakin' A.
